before Helovia • born the middle child of Lassie, your stereotypical housewife, and Rhett, a retired local military officer turned farmer.
• raised in a rustic, rural area where magic was only a legend.
• would often be delegated with watching her younger siblings as she would mostly fail at the other tasks given to her by her mother (albeit not for lack of trying).
• when her siblings were old enough, dru helped her father with the farm. rumors spread that she had a "brown thumb" and was forbidden to touch the plants, including watering them.
• took it upon herself to take up the more laborious tasks around the farm as these were the only tasks she didn't completely fail at.
• often stood watch over the fields and acted as a scarecrow. birds never seemed to learn.
• known around the nearby village as a "plain jane", a label in which she never argued with as she knew there was nothing particular special about her.
• one day dru took interest in the aerial drills their small, local military were running. she kept coming back until the commander, amused, asked her if she wanted to try. dru was always a capable flier, at the very least, but was worried she'd simply mess up. she declined at first but came back the next day eager to learn. on the first day of training she flew into one of the only trees scattered upon the open fields.
• slowly, dru began to become more skilled in the air as she practiced with her commander. she learned to spar in the skies.
• dru, having steadily risen up in the ranks, was tasked with scouting a disturbance near an allied herd's land as a show of their support. she never arrived at the meeting location, instead finding herself pulled into a completely new world.
