Fulfilling Heritage [ Sun God ] - Official - 08-12-2012 Vikram May 1st, 2012 at 7:58pm For the first time in... some time, actually... Vikram roamed from the reassuring company of Mirage and Akaith on an errand for himself. Satisfying wanderlust did not qualify, in his mind, as such a thing. But this did. In his wanderings he'd heard much of those unearthly creatures that could grant their favor in the form of magic of various expressions to those who were worthy. Whether previously born with magic or not. There was something the hybrid stallion wanted that he thought he could earn from such beings, and that was why he was here. Here, trekking along the narrow pathways that carved their way ever upward past the blue tinted lava that heated the air and made flight unpredictable and dangerous. Onward, upward, he trekked, until the path he followed widened into a plateau of sorts, surrounded by the molten fire and adorned only in three shrines. Pupils narrowed against the aqua hued glow from all around as the massive steed studied each monument in turn, seeking one which best embodied that which he sought. Finally his gaze lit upon one in particular, which he approached. "He who embodies fire and light, I seek an audience with you." He spoke, voice deep and vibrating but not so quiet as that which he usually resorted to. Leathery wings arched and rose while long and spurred tail lashed against the heated air, before the brief expression of draconic behavior ceased and he grew still again, drawing in his wings once more. God of the Sun May 1st, 2012 at 10:06pm Fire, suddenly fire. From the thin lines of lava on the paths the dragon had calmly strode by, a flame trickles upward. At the call, the flames burst forward, a myriad of colors, dazzling before Vikram to see. They grow in heat and intensity, and one begins to crawl dangerously close to where to stallion was standing. However, should they touch, he might notice they do not burn like one would expect. These flames answer to the commands of the one that is sought. Appearing from behind the walls of flames that grow with iridescent light is a figure, distorted by the heat and the light surrounding the small island. Then, just as quickly as they rose, the flames diminish to a manageable size. The figure that was barely visible in the fire steps forward, a beaming golden sheen. Two antelope horns of solid gold curl backward from his forehead delicately, and soft wings are folded neatly over his back. There is a shining aura that surrounds his body, like he is a source of light himself. A calm smile rests on his handsome features as the Sun God steps before the hybrid. "You're a strange one, Vikram," his light voice says calmly, without judgment - only a statement. "I have watched you since you arrived." Liquid eyes stare at the hybrid intently as the God steps closer, getting a detailed look at his visitor. "Did you need something?" Vikram May 1st, 2012 at 10:15pm Fire leapt up in response to his summons, creeping treacherously close as the stallion stood his ground. But he did tilt the end of his tail away from the flames, wary of the tasseled tip becoming singed. His pupils narrowed to mere slits as he watched and waited, only to widen gradually when the fire faded and the God he sought stepped forth. Silent, patient, he waited for the creature to address him, studying the unusual appearance this being possessed. When words were spoken, they were met with a twitch of an ear. Pot calling kettle much? Strange Vikram might be, but he was born of this word and not some other level of existance. He held his tongue though, until questioned. "I seek the magic to give me the skill of fire breathing." He spoke simply, and waited to hear what this creature thought of his request. God of the Sun May 2nd, 2012 at 5:00pm A gracious smile responds to the precariously turned ear. The dragon might well know that the God can read his thoughts - how else would he have so easily turned up a name from thin air? Still, the only thing strange the Sun God found about himself is that he was more brilliantly beautiful than any being he had yet encountered; his sister was no exception to this thought. He would have chided the stallion so if he had not so wonderfully held his tongue. Amusement and intrigue began to glimmer behind those liquid pools of gold. The request was quaint in the sense that it was exactly what the Sun God had expected from this creature. The ability to breathe fire like the other half of his lineage was so predictable it was almost boring, but the thought of a horse with flames leaping from his mouth was exciting. The beautiful element of passion, energy, and intensity bottled within. How he would go about fulfilling this request was another matter entirely. It would be his greatest accomplishment in quite sometime. Without speaking, the illuminated God reached out to touch the shoulder of the dragon-like equine, sending what might have been a tingling sensation up his nerves as the god studied the creature without having to pry him open. The larynx was not reinforced to handle such heat, and there was no internal furnace that a dragon held within his gut. Opening his golden eyes as stepping back from the dragon, the God looked thoughtfully at the dragon. "We will need dragon egg shells, lots of them, and gems heated by the strongest flame in Helovia," he decided then. "I can rebuild your throat to be suitable, as well as your gut, but I need something to work with." "There is a matriarch that resides closest to the sun. She is a dear friend of mine and possesses the shells we need, but will not grant you them so lightly. I imagine she will have her own task for you. Once you have gathered the shells, I will aid you in the heating of the gems," the God smiled to himself before returning his attention to the hybrid. "Or do you desire an easier task?" This was going to be a lovely creation. Vikram May 2nd, 2012 at 5:52pm There were a few moments of silence in the wake of his request, before the Sun God stepped forward and touched him. A strange sensation radiated outward from that single touch, and Vikram tilted his head to warily eye the creature who created such strangeness by a mere touch to the shoulder. But it was not long at all before the Sun God stepped back, with further words. Instructions. Requirements to be found. Changes that would be made. For a moment Vikram's ears swivelled with uncertainty, but then he hardened his resolve. "This matriarch, is she to be found in what's known as the Heavenly Fields or elsewhere?" He needed no easier task, and would prove it. "And I presume I'll have to gather the gems as well?" God of the Sun May 3rd, 2012 at 7:09pm "You're a clever one," he said slyly, glancing at the golden cat eyes that were on the Sun God. The illuminated stallion smiled in response, turning away from the dragon before he asked his second question. Taking a few steps back toward the alter to which Vikram had called upon him, it appeared as though he would be taking his leave, until one more question dropped from the hybrid's lips. The God stopped for a moment before turning his head gracefully back, peering over the wings rested on his back to look at the hybrid directly. "Well, you didn't call on the Earth God, now did you?" A smirk played over the smooth features before the deity added, "Not to worry, Vikram. The gems will be located in our last stop, but you will have to be prepared to dig." With a laugh, the God disappeared, leaving behind only the faint whisper of his laughter and a glimmering sheen from where he stood. Vikram May 4th, 2012 at 10:27pm Ears twitched at the unusual compliment, the stallion not entirely certain what to make of being referred to as 'clever' in this moment. He knew no other land higher than the Fields, but had been uncertain if the creature he sought this magic from would have used that phrase for someone else. The Sun God had begun to retreat before his second question, and then had only a snarky response for it. Vik was nonplussed over this, but held his tongue as he listened to the last words the being had for him. Digging was a fairly simple requirement after working for this matriarch. When he found himself alone again upon this mountain-top, the hybrid bowed his head slightly before turning away. The sooner he began the better. It was only now that he took to the skies, enormous wings spreading as he picked up from a walk to a canter, then leaping skyward as the heated thermals filled the sails of his wings and carried him swiftly aloft. |
