Signal for Healing [Sun/Lazulli/Observer] | SUN GOD - Official - 08-12-2012 Anumati March 22nd, 2012 at 4:52pm The air was cold, but not so cold as to be intolerable. Wings outstretched, brown feathers fluttering as she soared, Anumati followed the small blue form of the dragon that guided her, his knowledge of their destination invaluable to her cause. Lazulli's generosity and patience rivaled that of his bonded, the benevolent equine mare Gossamer, and Anumati wondered how she might somehow repay them for their assistance in her quest for healing magic. She had been unable to stop smiling since they had departed from the Heavenly Fields, and the conversation and new acquaintances she had made still played back within her thoughts. Amber eyes alight with hope and desires of feeling whole again with that part of her she had lost on leaving Isilme, the liver chestnut mare curved her flight path to match that of the dragon, determined not to lose him in the misty skies. A volcanic island, she had been told, was to be where they were headed, and as they approached she wondered how she had possibly feared to have missed sight of it. The heat steamed from the top of the volcano in thick, pluming white clouds, obscuring much of what rested around the rim of the open top. It fogged the surrounding area, blanketing everything in a mist that was almost warm to the touch. She could feel it settle about her wings, dampen her coat, but it was a welcome sensation after the chilling flight there. Their path angled downward, closer toward the base of the great volcanic mountain, and then slightly up its side, following a path that eventually became clearer to the pegasus the closer they drew to it. Ahead, barely visible through the fog and the dim light emitted from the within the gaping mouth of the volcano, she could see something, shapes that stood up from the rocky mountain as if standing sentinel to any who approached. Gently the pegasus mare alighted before them, her dark hooves clacking against the stone as they caught and held her body while her wings swayed a moment fully wide and then snugly tucked away. Her windswept mane pushed back by her flight, she had an unobstructed first look at the Veins of the Gods, and felt a sudden wave of anxiety and insignificance. Here she was, a mere mortal being, a pegasus, seeking the help of Gods that she barely knew of, who most likely barely knew anything of her. They had no obligation to answer her call let alone grant her request. Ears tipping back against her dark mane accented in orange, she drew in a deep, unsteady breath and looked to Lazulli. He had appeared so self assured, so confident in his own part to play during this little venture that she forced a smile to her face, unable to stare at his eager assistance with anything but gratitude. "You have it?" she asked in a quiet voice, as if afraid the Gods might already be listening. She was grateful it was he who was to do the lighting of the coal; at least in this way there was no chance of her backing out at the last second. It was in Lazulli's hands now. Gossamer the Benevolent March 22nd, 2012 at 7:16pm Lazulli joyously weaved through the air, his metallic scales glinting beautifully in the icy air, as crystals formed upon his eyelids from the altitude. It was such a strange feeling, to fly through the currents of air with an equine, as he would another dragon or air-bound being that he swirled and bounced on currents he would normally avoid now that he was older. The mare behind him followed and he was oblivious to her anxiety whenever he would get to far ahead. They arrived shortly and he alighted his glorious form upon the edge of the sun god's altar. The mare landed not too terribly far away and she asked him if he had the Burning Stone. He chirruped musically(showing off since he liked this mare) and dropped the Burning Stone from his mouth to lay upon the altar. With a flourish only a dragon could possess, he puffed out a delicately pretty trail of fire from his warm maw, and lit the coal well before he closed his mouth. Pleased with his work, he turned to the fluffy wing'ed mare and, with great effort, he showed the image of a horse bowing and the sent the emotion of humbleness. He was about to leave when the thought occurred to him that Gossamer would need every friend she could get in the future. She was such a sweet thing that other horses didn't like her. She was a mouse in a world of hunters. Here they had found someone who was also a mouse. He thought, that he should show this mare how to get to their herdland. With a bounce he lifted up from his perch on the altar, lifted up, and flew over to the mare where he landed on her head. Leaning forward, he placed his nose upon her forehead where he expended a great amount of energy to show her images of the way to get to the Windtossed Foothills and added in the emotion of happiness and welcoming. When he was done he bounced carefully from her head, taking care not to hurt her, and tiredly flew back to his other half in his homeland. Anumati March 27th, 2012 at 12:14am She thought her heart might race free from the confines of her chest as she watched Lazulli trill a response to her question and artfully light the small bit of coal, leaping to life with a flame that defied the heavy mists spewing from the volcano just behind it. Her amber eyes fixed themselves on that small flame, watching it dance and sway above the coal, anchored to it and yet resplendent in its whimsically free movements. Warring with the anxiety that the sight of the lit coal ignited within, Anumati once again turned a thankful, gracious smile on the small creature, feeling that, even if she should somehow fail to properly get through this meeting with one of the gods, her offering would at least have been satisfactory thanks to him. Her thought altered as if by someone else's control, bringing forth the image of one bowing humbly, and a second or so of blinking confusion finally brought about the realization the sending had been given to her by the blue dragon. The liver chestnut pegasus nodded her head understandingly, grateful for the added suggestion to further help her cause. He seemed ready to go, and while some part of her wished he might stay she resisted the urge to say so aloud. No doubt he was eager to return to his mistress, his use here already done. Rather than take to the skies as he leaped from the altar, he came toward her and alighted atop her head, causing the mare to tilt her head back slightly in an attempt to give him more room to stand. She felt rather than saw the touch of his nose to her forehead, and once again images flooded into her mind, these quick successive things that felt to be leading her somewhere. It was such an odd sensation that she doubted her ability to ever forget, and smiled when she recognized a piece of the land as she had once seen it, from great heights soaring overhead. He was showing her how to get to the Windtossed Foothills. Words hardly appeared adequate to verbalize the thanks she felt was owed to this dragon and his bonded, and so Anumati merely watched in fascination as he drifted off into the misty sky, quickly becoming swallowed up by the heavy cover. Realizing in that moment that she was now alone before the altar, she turned her head and gazed at the flame still dancing above the coal. The images Lazulli had sent her returned, and she drew in a breath before mimicking his sending. She closed her amber eyes briefly and bowed low before the altar. The humble feeling he had been attempting to convey was the easiest part for Anumati to get right, as that was all she could feel at the prospect of meeting one with such great power that they might be capable of bestowing new magic on mortals. Please, don't let their efforts be in vain, she thought nervously, willing herself to do everything properly so that the aid she had received would be for something rather than nothing. God of the Sun March 27th, 2012 at 2:17am A sensation of burning enveloped the mare. It would be a pleasant experience, if not mildly alarming, for the white flames that licked her body were not sizzling, but warm and comforting. Not painful, but soothing. Amidst the likely chaos of initially realizing she was on fire, it might also become apparent, that the God of the Sun had appeared from the depths of his shrine. Slender in build he appeared tall and nimble, this antelope-esque figure enhanced by the slowly curved set of horns that jutted from his golden skull, wreathed in pale mane that still crackled with remnants of his burning entrance. The hides that blanketed his strong, if lithe, frame were of a metallic sort, each just of light from the skies, the lava, or his own fire sending a dazzling cascade of light falling across his musculature. There was no denying he'd birthed the copper coat of the chestnut, or the shiny, glossy bay. The God of the Sun was impressive to behold, and slightly difficult for the eyes to manage as he reveled in the bright and dangerous glories of his elements. Somewhere amidst all of the illumination, he smiled, and it only accented the way he radiated. Molten gold composed the firm eyes that blinked around pale eyelashes as the God of the Sun bowed his head, neck arching pridefully, to glance down at the mousey mare that had summoned him. Her gift had invigorated him. Already he viewed her favorably, his ego easily stroked by even the simplest of gestures, so that he nearly crooned when he let his golden tongue set free. "You summon the sun of light and fire, to what end, Anumati?" Her name was spoken knowingly, hinting that mortal affairs did not so easily pass the eyes of the high ruling gods, but mostly it was a sign of honor to be fully addressed when most are ignored or insulted. Anumati March 27th, 2012 at 10:23pm It started at her hooves, a warmth that seeped well into her being and alleviated her worries, quieting her fretful thoughts the further it traveled up her body. It was such an odd sensation that she opened her eyes and peered down at her hooves, only to realize in wide eyed panic that they were aglow with white flames. Anumati's heart skittered in her chest at the sight and her body froze in place, too frightened even to move. But the fear was short lived. The white fire, though terrifying to know coursed across her body, fought against the anxiety, and as it did so it allowed her mind to wrap around the fact she wasn't in danger, nor was she feeling any pain. Instead, she was calmed, at peace, and more than a little fascinated by the flames that were crawling across her skin, filling her with a warmth that completely obliterated any lingering chill from her flight to get here and reduced the nervousness she harbored over this meeting. Somewhere in her distraction the god had appeared, and her attention drew away from the flames enveloping her to the bright glow he emitted that completely dwarfed the quiet light of her fire. Her jaw fell slightly open as she realized he was there, meeting his beaming, smiling face with an awestruck look. It hurt her eyes to stare at him directly and she needed to squint, but still she stared, listening as he addressed her by name--He knows my name!--and asked of her intent. Any flowery, god-worthy answers she might have been considering had fled from her mind, as well as the simple capability to formulate proper sentences. She gaped, struggling for words, and had to take a moment to remember herself and collect her thoughts. As if fearing her boldness in looking directly on him might be misconstrued into an offense, she quickly lowered her head into another bow, and found it easier to locate her voice enough to use it. "I-I seek healing magic," she answered swiftly, before she could lose her nerve. "I had it once, back in Isilme," she stated, worrying for a brief moment if this god would even know where that was but continuing anyway, "but I lost it when I left with the others." She could feel her voice shrinking, losing her will and feeling the beginnings of doubt creep up around her. She focused on the flames, on their quiet reassurance, and forced herself to speak again, one more time. "I feel incomplete without it. I'd do anything to get it back." Too late, she heard her own words, her willingness to risk anything to get her magic, and felt a sliver of dread. "I just want to help," she added in a soft, almost whispered plea, a worried frown settling about her averted face while she gave herself over to the warm flames, seeking comfort in their embrace. God of the Sun April 18th, 2012 at 11:48am ยป The girl was startled, like a maiden blushing in front of her suitor. The God tilted a graceful head and watched her, a knowing smile placed on his illuminated lips. Her words had fled her mind, but the Sun God waited patiently, liquid gold eyes dancing with amusement around his black pupils as he watched her. The flurry of emotions dancing across her starstruck face. She was right to be in awe of such a creature. An luminescent liquid began to drip from his mane, glittering as it pooled strangely on the floor. An innate light emerged from it, enhancing the brightness upon which the stallion stood. He seemed to be one fluid form, not completely firm, though the musculature of his lithe frame would leave you unable to question his strength. Instead of inconsistent, the God seemed rather untouchable, as though you could never quite catch him. Finally, her words stuttered out, and the God smiled warmly, light peeking out of the creases of his lips. "I know nothing of your Isilme, Anumati," he says frankly, but his voice does not seem harsh. Instead, it is a gentle tug. "But you are an honest girl." A smile once more, trying to capture her attention. "In order for me to give you the healing power you seek, I would have you complete a task for me," a coo from the God's lips, charming. "I need two elements, aside from the light and fire I hold, to give you these abilities - water and earth, which breed life. I need the purest water from the Foothills and one leaf from the great forest in the World's Edge." Suddenly, in a burst of light, two vials attached by delicate chains hover before Anumati. "One element per vial. Bring me these things, but be wary of the Edge. They do not look kindly upon your species. |
