Come To Me, Dear Ones. [open] - Official - 08-12-2012 Seiren April 25th, 2012 at 2:06pm The little grey lithely walked on the mountain paths of the foothills, the rocky footing proving no challenge for the agile mare's cloven hooves. She held her dainty face to one side, dragging her coal black horn along the mountain wall in an attempt to attract others to her. It echoed through the mountain range and the mares cold eyes shimmered with curiosity as she wondered what creatures roamed this part of the land. Seiren was now of a new herd, yet she knew nothing of the landscape of the land. For someone who excelled in quiet murder, knowledge of the land was essential. The mare wished for others to come, so she knew its inhabitants and their views. So far, the grey knew next to nothing of the land and it left her a little nervous that she didn't always have a secure back route out of situations. Her withers twitched as she took in the new territory, her eyes forever roaming and checking for on comers or danger. The place was full of different scents of different creatures and Seiren's red vein thumbed with anticipation. Wandering down the last rocky path she curved around the side of the pool that the waterfall plummeted into. She looked at it appraisingly and decided it was a beautiful feature to the land and an easy place to conceal unwanted... baggage. She also surmised that the rocky paths wouldn't serve as an ideal get away and, even though it was rocky, the bare forest might be the easier option out. Seiren stood by the waterfall for a while, allowing its spray to caress her body. Kimber May 1st, 2012 at 7:25pm A sound unlike any she'd heard before drew the young filly in. Youthful curiosity was something she clung to even as she grew older, growing closer to the one year anniversary of her birth, so it was unsurprising for those who knew her to see her scampering heedlessly along and over the stony hillsides and paths. Growing up here had bred familiarity, and she knew where she could cut corners and race along, glorying in the thrill of adrenaline that came with pushing her luck. So it was like this that she progressed toward the heart of her homeland, the click and clack of her hooves growing muted before the rush of the plummeting water that grew louder as she approached. Blue eyes took note of a fresh slice in the trail wall she trekked alongside, higher up than she could easily reach, and she wondered who or what could make such a mark even as she deduced that this had been the cause of that strange sound. Her questions were swiftly answered when she reached the waterfall and the pool into which it fell, only to discover a unicorn standing near the water. Kimber's progress slowed from a headlong canter to a simple walk while she tested the air with interest. Over the scent of the waterfall and the greenery which flourished around the pool she caught the scent of distant forests and even more distant salt water. Not a local then. Boldly she approached, ignoring the fact that she was rather small in comparison to the older gray mare. "Hello!" The mousey colored grulla called, flicking her ears forward from the tangled mess of dual-colored mane that had been mussed by her swift passage. "Who're you? What brings you here?" Narmer May 1st, 2012 at 10:43pm The day is a warm spring day and, thus, we find the stallion in the story, Narmer, dozing in the cool shade of a copse of trees which lay just outside of the clearing where the two mares would soon meet. The day, like most others in this calm land, had begun peaceful and quiet for him. He had gotten up from his little shelter and grazed until noon, when it became warm enough that he decided it was time for a bath in that glorious waterfall at last. He had frolicked in it for a while, enjoying the feel of the cleansing waters of Khnum, the creator, which had only recently been added to by Tefnut, goddess of rain. After a time, when he felt clean enough, Narmer had meandered out and wandered over to the very spot where we now find him. He is dreaming back to the time when he had frolicked with Amarna amongst the Papyrus reeds under the cool night air. How soft her hair had been, the feel of her nuzzling on his neck, and her bright, twinkly brown eyes. Here though, in this dream, she was still alive. Unbelieving, he was reaching out to touch her with his unworthy lips when a harsh, screeching sound ripped through his mind and yanks him through the layers of dream-state to wake gasping for breath. He is panicked but for a moment but, upon not seeing his mate, he finds tears to flooding up to touch the rims of his eyes as he remembers she has been lost to him for forever. Then the sound rends our desert mason's ears once more and he is reminded of why he is awake in the first place. Mildly alarmed, Narmer puts his ear to good use and finds that the source of the sound is coming towards him along the outer mountain pass, a trail not often used by herd members simply for its difficulty. A local would have just traveled through the forest and down. Though it seemed to be coming closer, Narmer, not being one to fight easily, simply lays in the brush and awaits who, or what, will appear. He knows that there is really no point in fleeing the scene when he is perfectly capable of defending himself or, at the very least, should manage to observe what sort of intruder is treading upon his newfound homeland's ground. He waits not long before a grey mare, similar in coloring to himself, appears and plants herself smack dab in the center of the clearing. From the trees, he considers this new-comer. She did not seem to be a very kind sort of mare. In fact, she looked like she was a pissed off scarab about to attack something. He disliked angry scarabs...especially ones which ruined his nice Amarna dreams. It wasn't very often that he got nice ones. The knight was just contemplating how he would enter the scene without pissing her off further when he heard a thunderous clacking of hooves. Narmer really didn't have to think about who that might be for he had come to know those hoofbeats well as they belonged to the Princessa Kimber, daughter to Smoke. She was a kind soul, but incredibly annoying at times, and he almost groaned aloud at the thought of having her present for this meeting. It was mere moments more before the Princessa arrived bellowing her greetings robustly. Oh dear, thinks our Narmer with fatherly affection, Kimber was likely to get herself into trouble now. With a small eye roll Narmer removes his weight from the ground with great delicacy, so as to make as little sound as possible, and is about to begin forward when a thought strikes his fancy. Though Gossamer did not want anyone knowing about the herd...she never said members couldn't show off or intimidate them. Why not have a bit of fun? Then our quiet stone-worker closes his eyes and draws upon the Knowledge of the gods which resides deep inside him, he pulls and prods it until the ground beneath the mare and the filly begins to tremble. From the trembling ground first rises sheer walls of plain rock, all around the two to keep them from running away. Second rises, in a semi-circle, seven pillars of dark green jade which, after growing to a height of 10 feet, slowly branch out and form a latticework canopy above the semi circle. This canopy looks, upon first glance, to be molded after a tree-top canopy, but upon further inspection it is obvious that amongst it are depictions of horses playing in meadows, secluded lovers nuzzling noses, a foal laying prettily in some grass, and any number of other images. Once the canopy is finished, the seven pillars solidify into beautifully designed columns showing intricate swirls and vertical patterns of such intense detail that it could almost, but not quite, baffle the eye. Lastly, the trembling subsides to a small shudder as the final piece of the shelter falls into place. Light green-blue turquoise, in liquid form, flows up the columns and seems to stick, in a thin layer, within the all the crevices of the designs and on the images of the horses and dragons in the canopy above, bringing them into high relief. Then, it is done...but not quite...as a last thought, Narmer wells the turquoise and jade from the ground once more, directly in front of where dear Kimber stands, and creates a thin stick which Y's at the end. This stands right at Kimber's eye level, just above her head. From this weaves and curves a long, intricate, and beautiful chain which eventually connects to form a necklace. Then the necklace dis-connects from the Y and lands delicately around young Kimber's neck, a gift which can carry an amulet if she were to ever receive one. The knightly Narmer exhales loudly and trembles from the effort of creating the great thing. He keeps the walls up as he walks around to where the front of the semi-circle is, looking out to the water, and turns to face it. He removes the section of wall directly in front of where he stands first to get them to face him, and then pulls down all the remaining walls to reveal the true, stunning beauty of his creation. In a foreign, but perfectly understandable voice, he says, "Hello girls" Seiren May 6th, 2012 at 7:09pm The first that came was a young filly and Seiren was mildly disappointed that the land hadn't offered something worth conversing with. Nevertheless, the warrior watched as the filly approached with a youthful bravery. The arab admired the little ones guts, most her age wouldn't engage with strangers from other lands but she was not frightened at all. She listened and smiled inwardly at her questions, "why, aren't you a brave one. I'm Seiren of the Worlds Edge. What brings me here, hmm? Well, lets call it curiosity child" her voice was calm with an icy undertone. One you wouldn't want to hear on a dark, lonely night. It held a soft wickedness, a sinister whisper. The next to appear was somewhat more profound. For before he was visible himself the ground began to shake and Seiren tensed herself, her face a blank mask. Emotion was a weakness and only got in the way for this mare. The little grey stood and watched as she was encased in an intricate shelter with some intriguing designs on it. What an interesting ability. It's completely different from my own power and seems to draw on his own imagination combined with elements of the earth, Seiren mused as her brain calculated its way through the situation she was in. The escape routes she had noted on her way in were now a little more harder to get to with this building in the way. A little door is made right in front of Seiren and the walls disappear. Looking around, the mare examined the exemplary work of the new stallion with an amused expression. Inside, she was actually marveling at the stallions work and envied the potential it had. That would never be shown on the outside though as she turned her deathly black eyes onto Narmer "nice entrance, I am thoroughly impressed. Although I'm not too fond of trapped spaces". She danced her way a little closer to the stallion then, her cloven hooves as silent as mist, her eyes of haunting intensity. "Who might you be? I don't normally bother with names but you have captured my imagination. Odd" the last word hung in the air. The mare stood and bored her eyes into the shelter's creator, the low thumb of her red vein soothingly vibrated up her jet black horn. The four black daggers that pointed towards a circle which surrounded this very aspect of her cranium only added to her venomous and cold appearance. Kimber May 24, 2012 at 3:10pm Plumed tail swayed with quiet satisfaction as this strange mare spoke to compliment the young filly and introduce herself as Seiren, of the World's Edge. Ah, that unicorn-only land she'd heard about. With that thought lingering in her mind, Kimber studied this Seiren with interest. Curiousity could mean so many things when possessed by someone visiting from another herd. But the youngster hadn't a chance to speak up again before things changed in a completely unexpected fashion. The ground stirred beneath their hooves, then rose in steep walls around mare and filly before giving way to pillars of green stone that arced and spread like living things, evoking many different scenes in its delicate swirls. At first the grulla was startled, but then she perked up her ears to watch the stone grow and shift above her with open admiration. She knew who was responsible for this! Her delight deepened when the jade was joined by turquoise highlights, and grew tenfold when a new sprout rose before her. The two stones melded together right before her face, weaving and interlocking until at last the long loop disconnected from its base to fall over her head. Neck arched and muzzled bent to watch the necklace slide down to rest at last against her shoulders, dangling against her chest. A pleased little whinny escaped her then, and her emblazoned face swung toward the grey stallion who manipulated the walls to give way before him in his approach. Deep blue eyes were alight with gratitude and delight, but young Kimber kept enough of her mind about her to not spill information not already given. "Thank you very much!" She chimed instead, before falling silent to watch how Narmer dealt with Seiren, who seemed much more interested in him than herself. |
