Fairytale: the Gypsies of the East - Cealestis - 03-19-2014 Fairytale: Keepers of Lore Early in the history of Helovia, during a time of much tribulation, a group of nomadic hearted individuals ventured out of the borders never to return. Sworn to safeguard the forests behind them and the lore that they held to their breasts, they led a simple life for many, many years, breeding to bolster their numbers and inviting like minded scholars and wanderers into their fold. Over time, the culture of the group, initially tied to the legends of the people of Helovia, evolved into its own collection of tales, some new and formulated among the minds of Fairytale and others told to them by passing wanderers. The story tellers of their people never forgot a single one, and they are lovingly told to children in order to keep the stories alive and breathing. They make their way through the wilderness and wander from kingdom to kingdom, trading their goods and songs for worldly possessions, but always they return to the quiet sanctum of the wood which borders the eastern entryway to and from the peninsula of Helovia. Fairytale is a collection of all unicorn learners, bards, crafters and traders, and a handful of warriors, their band usually numbering at about thirty but with some tales describing their numbers much higher or much lower. Always, there is a wise woman, a holder of the flame, who knows all of the stories and all of the Gods by name and face, and a master of the blades, who guides the warriors; the other ranks are fluid, and ever changing. Every so often, one without a horn enters their numbers; they do not stay long and are treated as workers, and workers alone. Their society is one of few rules, and no order, aside from the truth evident in their historical tales. The occasional youth will wander away from the haven of their free spirited people, lured East by the songs of the four Gods and the people who live beneath their might. Herd Ranking As of the time of the first Gypsy to enter Helovia's current timeline. Gypsy Queen: Rosalee the Bronzeclaw ---- Known as the Bronzeclaw for the dragon's claw she wears around her neck that belonged to a large and powerful bronze wyvern defeated early in her life. Warmaster: Charren Gleamteeth ---- Known as Gleamteeth for the strength of his bite and the whiteness of his ruthless smile, known to break even the strongest of bones. Wise Woman: Serapha the Flamebrow ---- The Flamebrow is a master of fire magic and herbal healing, her power having no boundaries. Warriors: Hiirth, Jak, Diona, Kovald, Oamra Healers: Fraelei Merchants (aka Thieves): Jynto, Moonsward, Brecken Knowledge Keepers: Anche, Damasque Magicians: Beorginne, Mindrel Artifacts of Mention - Baldrin's Crest: The King or Queen of Gypsies is known as such because they have earned the crown of the former through thievery or combat; the crown is known as Baldrin's Circlet, named for the first stallion to migrate the herd from Helovia and a remnant of the life they once had there. It is crafted of bronze and encrusted with hundreds of small, glinting rubies, a slender band with minor runic and celtic detailing along its rim. - Pandora's Chest: Kept by the Wise Woman, it is a chest about two by two by three feet in size, made of strong redwood and adorned with many fine metals and gemstones. Endlessly valuable and pretty, it holds all the things that the Gypsies have found of any importance that are not held by individuals. None but the Queen and Wise Woman know its contents. - Two Team Cart: Staple of their trading natures, the Cart is a massive thing that is pulled by two unicorns and carries all that the group has to offer in trade. Stories Unique to Fairytale As the culture is derived from that of Helovia, the gypsies believe in the same Gods and the same order of natural life that those within the borders hold, though they have most uniquely contrived their own creation story. It is as follows: In the beginning, the Gods of Four Faces pondered how to fill the emptiness of the earth that they had made. But I want oneeeee! You are welcome to design your own Fairytale character to bring into Helovia or I have offered adoptables for your viewing/playing pleasure. So long as the character is of a scholarly/magician nature, a crafter, or one who is a mercenary type, they would have fit into the group quite well. Of course, they must be unicorn, or they won’t have very fond memories of the group. ;D Please contact Bunnie via Illynx, Dragomir, or Cealestis’ accounts, or on skype (bonjourbunnie) if you are interested in creating a Fairytale character and/or would like more information involving the group.
