Sturdy on field, hardened like a rock -- "sturdy on field" refers to his victories on the battle field (has 10 VP); rock refers to Midas' herd, the Hidden Falls, which has the Earth God as its patron and therefore rock-based magic.
Gems like the sun, such different textures -- refers to his ability to wield different metals for crafting
Will you guess what I seek, ye wise one? -- reference to the way Midas speaks in Old English.
