:: Layout Banner Contest :: ENDS 1/1/2015! - Official - 11-30-2014

This is a contest to have your art featured as the main banner for a new site layout which will herald the new SWP!

The theme of this layout is: the Earth God's Mercy
What does this mean? The Layout should reflect the earth magic or water magic in some way or form. You may include the Earth God if you want, but it is not required at all. Anything green, beautiful peaceful, spring or summer oriented would be perfect. Think waterfalls, trees, flowers, colors, sunlight, rivers, etc!

Rules:
:: Image must be at least 1200px wide, but it can be wider
:: Image must use only stock
:: Image should not characterize only one specific Helovian character (but you can include multiple Helovian characters, the gods, or make up your own character to feature)
:: Image must be equine related >_>
:: You should not put any text on your image (credits will be added later, but you can add your own signature) (sigs should be small and close to the middle of the image because I may end up cropping)
:: You may enter more than once

Summary or explanation of your entry:: Ermmm...well, the Earth King doin his thang~ I apologize for his lack of bulk ~~and beard~~. I tried to flesh him out as best I could, and added feathering to the legs at least :) Anyways, hope you like it!

Summary or explanation of your entry:: The main subjects are obviously the water horse and the equine, which brings into the piece two required elements: equine and Earthy's magic. I thought that doing something inspired by Earth's magic rather than portraying the God himself would be nice. Other animals have gathered as well to herald the arrival of "Earth's mercy".

So much sharpness lost ><

Summary or explanation of your entry:: The horse is under a waterfall (to represent the weight of the world and everything that is painful) but is protected by a force field so the horse isn't getting wet, cold, or pushed down. And the horse is standing in the water to represent a new life as the dawn begins to rise. It also shows how Earthy is protecting those in hard times and offering them new chances.

Summary or explanation of your entry:: Soooo we have two horses who both represent each element of the Earth God. I chose pastel/soft lighting for the merciless aspect in hopes it would give off a sort of 'light' or 'relief' like feel, but also at the same time represents the two water/earth. Also, ya know, two species side by side, all the equality ;D lolol

Summary or explanation of your entry:: I tried to tie in a spring aspect to this manip using the waterfall as a backdrop. The unicorn is drawing earth's magic from the waterfall to tie in the Earth's mercy/magic theme. Choosing softer colours tones along with a couple more colours that stand out I tried to contrast the overall mood of the image to be of peace and relaxation.

Summary or explanation of your entry:: I decided to interpret the theme literally, and depict the Earth God embodying both aspects of his magic: Earth and Water. Here he is replenishing a dead and empty land, blessing it with paradise, or mercy.
