fires in the sky - Cirrus - 03-25-2015 The warrior had seen her little firestarter around, flying no less. It brought Cirrus joy to see another embrace the skies so easily, and to know that it was her knowledge and aid that had given the girl the means to find herself in the skies. But Cirrus had another challenge for her now - flying was one thing. It was easy compared to what the sky-girl was going to throw at her. All Cirrus needed to do was find her. So she flew, riding the thermals that TallSun heat generated off the sands of their home, letting them fill her wings so that she could glide from one shimmering tower of heat to another with ease. She was at home in the skies, whether the skies were a place of relaxation or a place of battle. With a cunning, perhaps slightly sadistic grin on her maw, she wanted to know how the young tribrid would cope with having herself thrown into battle - in the skies or on land, it mattered little to Cirrus. Cirrus just wanted to have fun. Only her version of 'fun' was often different to others'. "Hey!" she called out happily, enthusiastically to the pale fire-child she recognised from seasons ago on the Steppe. "How's it going, little Firebringer?" she laughed happily, landing upon the sands and approaching at a lazy walk, her voice carrying easily over the wind and handful of body lengths distance that separated them. With a grin that was kind, but laced with a playfulness that could mean only one thing, Cirrus asked slyly; "How's your flying going?" @[Aithniel] 0/3 attack posts 267 words Welcome to attack in your first post ^^ Set in the desert of the Dragon's Throat, mid-afternoon, TallSun. RE: fires in the sky - Cirrus - 04-06-2015 Laughter abounded from the girl's throat, bold and loud, expressing the genuine pleasure she felt at seeing the youth again. It was like looking at a tree two years after planting the original seed, and seeing a sapling standing in its place. And not just any sapling, but a strong one, one that promised to grow further, into something that would stand the test of time. Cirrus looked to Aithniel and saw a shadow of something like herself - so young and full of life, just needing the guidance and support to blossom into something beautiful, wondrous and powerful. Only, where Aithniel was all fire and light, Cirrus was wind and water. And yet they were so similar, despite all their differences. It was a curious notion for the little cloud to be viewed as a seasoned warrior, but when compared to the apprentice state Aithniel was in, Cirrus was just that. With her devilish grin curving her lips, she welcomed the Firebringer's emboldened attitude, rising to the challenge in the other girl's eyes and tones, loving the rush of blood and adrenalin through her veins and arteries. The cloud-girl knew an attack was coming, but the creative edge that Aithniel utilised still took her by surprise. Cirrus naturally dipped her head low to her to left side, brushing her chin against the plump curve of her right shoulder - leaving the left one exposed to feel Aithniel's strike against her. It would seem that either the firechild's aim was not exact, or she did not really mean to harm Cirrus, for the cloudchild only felt the strike of a single hoof, which slid along its edge down the sharp contours of her scapula. In reaction to this Cirrus spun further to her right, so that when she did look up through her left eye and see all the hooves of Aithniel, she only felt a glancing blow along her withers. The young warrioress shook herself, as if shaking off the remnants of sleep, she shed the hurts and insults such attacks made to her body, and trained her eyes on the firechild's retreating form. The strikes had indeed struck her, but whether they were intentionally light blows or simply the fault of an untrained hand, Cirrus found herself able to go on without much hindrance to her step and movement. Bruises, that would probably ache for the duration of their scuffle, would thereafter heal swiftly - the constant motion would, in the long run, aid circulation and healing though the cloudchild cared little for that right now. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to enjoy this fight with the little firestarter, her unknown cousin. And so, with that wicked grin on her maw and a spark behind her electric blue gaze, she bounded after the cheeky young belle, wings snapping out from her sides and scooping the air generated by her motion. The Sun was high in the sky, her own pelt shone a brilliant blue, her teeth glinting white as they flashed out from behind charred lips to attempt to lay a biting kiss upon the firechild's plump rump. Cirrus was coming up on Aithniel's left side, so she struck out to the right with a sharp, lightning quick laugh and swing of her tail. She did not linger, however, instead she continued forth, a speedy canter filling her wings with the lift they needed to take to the air. Imitating her cousin's previous strike (but adding her own twist), Cirrus tried to pass the firechild and kick out with her strong hind legs on her way into the skies, aiming for the girl's left wing, hoping to bruise it, make it hurt for the girl to fly so that she could continue to have the upper hand. Cirrus was nothing if not a sore loser. She would be very put out indeed if the firechild had learned so much so fast that she was better than her in this arena. Still, until she was proven a loser or a winner, Cirrus would make this fun. Flapping heavily, she flicked a glance over her right shoulder to see whether her little firestarter would follow her into the skies, to take this battle to an aerial level. 714 words 1/3 attack posts :D with lunarblues & larfsalot @ deviantart RE: fires in the sky - Aithniel - 04-18-2015
RE: fires in the sky - Cirrus - 05-07-2015 It was like looking into her past, watching the ever powerful, yet graceful, purposeful form of her father teach a leggy, untested filly, a girl only just discovering her body's capabilities. Endless patience and gentleness, with just the right amount of firmness present to make sure the lesson stuck, he was a professional on the battlefield and in the field of teaching. Cirrus remembered when he would call his troops together and have them all train, she remembered joining in - it was all a game then, a wild and fun and energetic game that she simply could not get enough of. Was it still a game now? Laughter continued to spill from her charred lips, and energy was certainly high, and she was definitely having fun.. But what if Aithniel became someone she had to defeat in order to protect her home? What if, through some cruel twist of fate, she became something evil and dangerous, something the Great Lord above deemed in need of discipline, of extermination? The thought darkened her brow, as a frown creased the folds above her eyes for a mere moment. Cirrus was not one to linger too long on such thoughts - not any more, at least. Lingering thoughts were dangerous, particularly when they began with what if - Cirrus had learned (the hard way) that it was best to focus on what was rather than what could have been. Wings took great sweeping gulps of air, each stroke giving her lithe, athletic body the lift and power needed to propel her through the air. The sky was her domain, it was writ across her very pelt, and she revelled in the long moments it took for her opponent to even find her. The cloud was glad, truly, that she had not harmed the other belle too severely, though she'd be lying if she told you she kind of wished to be able to win this scuffle in such a singular, swift motion. Alas, the firestarter was proving to be as determined as Cirrus, and the cloud could only admire and like her all the more for it. With a tail like a rudder swinging out behind her, the cloud craned her skull around to spy the firestarter, tilting her visage so that electric blue orbs could cling to the pale, fire-rimmed miss and estimate her trajectory appropriately. The youth was fast, Cirrus could not deny, and even though the mare could almost predict what the firestarter was about to do, her own generous wingspan proved ungainly and somewhat slow in executing a counter move. "Hey!" the young mare barked out at her friend as hooves came flying at her retreating head, wings tilting her body so that it hung perpendicular to the ground below. Aithniel's hooves came scarily close to the girl's own eyes, so much so that Cirrus shut them tightly, bracing for the blow that she was lucky enough to have just missed. But in that same instant of relief, came a hot, burning sensation, a bitter and charred scent - the cloud's forelock was on fire. "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh," the sound of panic rose from her maw as the girl shook her head violently, that motion more than the flames rattling her, as she pushed herself forward again in the skies and allowed the wind to steal away the small cinders of flame that could have devoured her. "Not cool!" she shouted at Aithniel, though as always, Cirrus held a smile on her lips and a cunning, devious sparkle to her gaze. Time to take care of any future flames, she thought, as she hurriedly called upon the magic of her soul to close in on them. It did nothing to take away the heat, but instead only increased it, as humidity rose sharply and cloud formed almost directly above them. They were heavy, dark and pregnant clouds, ready to drop their wet parcels on those below - and Cirrus only encouraged them to. As the atmosphere filled with the blurring and dampening effects of rainfall, Cirrus did her best to train her eyes upon the other, and gave chase hastily. Wanting to situate herself above and behind the firestarter, Cirrus then lashed out with teeth and forelegs, hoping once again, to leave a mark upon the younger one's seemingly perfect hide.
