Master of Brute Force - Ghost - 03-26-2015

Deception and perfection are wonderful traits
One will breed love, the other hate

A tired sigh left the mouth of a mare who seemed far too young to be sighing for so long. Her eyes were dull with weariness and with an edge of annoyance, her mind a battlefield of thoughts that contradicted one another and, when finally she thought she had found the answer, another question sent it all back into chaos. She was a lonely creature, an animal of solitude and quiet, the noise of her new and complicated predicament left her fuse shorter. The normally well-controlled Ghost was beginning to understand what anger could do to the mind. Still, she wondered why she was angry? Was it really herd problems? The relentless north was on her tail and now the Czar had mysteriously gone missing. Part of her was curious; almost joyous at the opportunity of her own rule, but she lacked the strength to do anything with it. Perhaps that was where her anger stemmed from. She didn't know why they were the targets and maybe it was time to put some of her own plans into motion.

In order to do that, however, one must have a plan.

Ghost stared out across the Endless Blue, shading herself under a nearby tree that was one of the few near where the sands started. For some reason, she quite liked the coast and its golden shoreline, you would think a lover of darkness and shadow would prefer the comfort of something creepier. Like the main setting to a horror novel. However, there was something about the vast horizon before her that captured her imagination and captivated her feet to remain rooted to the floor. It was a place she thought she could think in peace and a place she hadn't visited in a long time, long enough that it was far overdue a visit.

For a while she stood and weighed her options. Friends? Allies? Foes? To win this tug of war how far would she have to go, how vast was the ocean she had to cross? Was it as vast as the one in front of her? It seemed awfully big and rather daunting. Could she cross it? Or would she drown. Perhaps she needed to know what it feels like to drown in order to learn to swim.

Archibald
I'm not the devil but I won't be your hero

Archibald and his bonded moved carefully and skillfully over the sands. The tide crashed over the granules of golden sand and ebbed away again, foamy fingers tickling and lapping for purchase. Archibald's dark ears twitched as they moved and Loretta sprinted away from him every so often, crashing into the waves and biting at mouthfuls of salted water. As much as she was a war hound, Loretta was still a canine and the muse to play still kept her heart young. In private moments it was not unusual for the Dauntless to join Loretta in her games, but now was not such a private moment. In the distance, golden eyes noted the presence of another. A dark shadow, winged and painted with some crimson, gave way to the presence of another herd leader. Interest peaked in Archibald's mind and he called his cur to his heels across their bond.

"Ghost, you are far from home." Archibald noted to the hybrid filly when the distance was closed between them. The massive draft stopped but a few horse lengths away, tail flicking behind him to ward off biting flies. Loretta panted and looked at the mare, tail curled over her back. The bitch was not standing aggressively or dominatingly, but her presence was strong nonetheless. Archibald was a stone, standing as a mountain before the tri-colored female. His face was impassive, stoic, on the borderline of cold. He looked upon her slight frame with hard, molten gold eyes, waiting for her words to pool around his.

He was not who Ghost expected to see out on the Endless Blue, but the beaches were quite close to the Edge, so she shouldn’t be too surprised. His familiar domineering figure filled her view along with his companion, whom Fantôme had noticed as an older cousin of his. The wolf began to dither nervously from behind one of the banshee’s front legs as he watched the bitch. Meanwhile, the hybrid’s ears swivelled and caught the words of the Captain she had met in the Worlds Edge that one time. The one who had sounded more like a King than the actual reigning monarch at the time. She had jibed about it openly though it wasn’t well received, a poor occurrence that happened quite often to socially inept Ghost. She shrugged to his comment "perhaps, if you can call it home. I don’t like lingering in one place for too long and here is a good place to think." The Cadaverous was not a leader who dallied in her herd land, but was probably away from it more often that she should be.

Thoughts turned and she regarding the goliath before her, eyes sparkling with intrigued curiosity. "What brings you here?" She asked quite neutrally as a way of breaking the ice as the sea breeze played with her mane. After that she nodded once to the dog that looked at her and moved her leg to place Fantôme in the open. He trembled a little and crept forward on his belly, making small noises to her with his puppyish tones.

She shifted her weight and shuffled her wings, resting one back foot in a picture of ease. Her gaze turned away from the towering stallion and out across the horizon. "Still following orders?" She asked finally with an amused smile, wondering if she’d cause offence or whether he would take it lightly.

Loretta watched the pup peak from behind the mare's leg. Interest brought the dominant bitch forward, tail straightening, erect in the air behind her. Her ears pushed forward and her chest puffed some, the hair along her spine prickling. Her lips pulled back some, revealing a glimpse of her teeth. A rumbling growl moved from her throat to escape from her lips. Archibald glanced toward her, but made no reaction. He was used to his. This was the dance that happened whenever one of his brothers presented their new bonded pup. Loretta was an alpha bitch, that was definite, and this was her display as topdog. The wolf pup crawled out on its belly and Loretta moved to stand over it, her jaws lowering to hold the pup by the scruff in a tight, firm embrace.

"I give the orders," Archibald said, his voice the gavel on a judge's stand. He looked at her with features made of stone, muscles tightened, tail still flicking. "King of the World's Edge. Triumvirate. Three leaders." He did not expect the young woman to understand their politics, for her and Midas had nearly trampled over their neutrality. Midas had hurt Archibald's captain deeply, and had waved the bloody sword in their face by bringing the one-winged mare pregnant by his seed to their border. Wrinkles formed in the corners of Archibald's lips as his face pulled into a dark grimace, laced with the hidden anger he felt towards the gold pegasus. "Walks are good tools to clear the mind." Archibald gave his reasoning for being on the beach, though he did not believe the black hybrid deserved it. She asked, however, and Archibald decided to justify his workings rather than ignore her.
