Fireflies - Thranduil - 05-21-2015 The journey to the hot springs had brought more peaceful of a slumber to his bonded, but the golden’s small deer still dragged his hooves. As annoyed as the golden was he could not lie the feeling still lingered in his breast as well. Though his world was ever so quick paint over painful pictures, even these were taking longer. The lies of his life had been so rupture it took a while to piece them together again. Had he thought much of the small girl? He stood by what he had said earlier, she was strong. His heart still shuttered in its broken form to think of a babe, but it was washing it, like a sickness out, as distance grew between him and the moment. What of the damsel? The small hawk charm still dangled at the center of his chest. He had never taken it off. The damsel had been the focus of his attempts to forget. He was realizing it was harder to do than say. While he desired forget completely the world her touch brought him back into, he could not. It wrestled with him. Especially the hawk charm about his neck reminded him of those moments, and made it worse, but he had not taken if off. For now, it had been his policy, in the quiet moments of thought when these images arose to growl upon them and turn to what he knew better. Stealth. Stealing. Lies. Manipulations. Calculations. It had been long, since the gold had remembered his plans worm under the Basin’s skin only to burst out. He had grown into an unusual feeling. He was comfortable. So far there had been no need, nor opportunity to truly expose the place to the dangers of having him on board. Even now his plans were lukewarm, and weak. It frustrated him a great deal to feel himself becoming ‘loyal’-ick the thought of the word. So must conversations within him on this topic resolved in affirmations that he was doing all he was because he wanted to, and not by some higher up’s command. It was pathetic, but it worked. Such tricks did not work for Haldir, his little frame still hung heavy. He had not the years to rationalize things, nor the skill to lie to himself. And it pestered the gold to keep the deer with him in such state. So they were out again. The golden pulling the deer from his slumber at dusk. The had travelled through the pines as the sun set, and now came to the edge of the Basin’s walls again, past the sentinels then to the right of the Arch. Here the trees fell away, and a dark cloudless moonless night showed overhead. It was elenath [stars] and Garoelenath [Holder of the Stars/Mountains]. The gold was taking the small deer along a hidden path, as the dusk began to finally settle into night and the stars grow more numerous. Up the little trail leads them, till the golden stops. He has found what he seeks so he looks back, waiting for the little deer to look up. Haldir bumps into the leg of his bonded, his eyes never having looked up. He did not even see the starts above them. Now he stops, jerking awake to look at why they stopped. There two feet beyond was a small floating pink light. The dark deer’s ears lift at the light, pale eyes widen at the sight. His curiosity was just as strong as ever. It only needed a reason to overcome his weariness of the world. Slowly he steps in front of the gold watching the light. The small pink light flutters, moving back, but then holding. The small deer sees the maker of the light to be a little flying firefly. For the first time in a week his little lips curl up into a grin. The gold moves up to join the deer, his heart feeling once more the lighter, warmer soul he knew to be his bonded. He of course is without recognition outwardly. His earth eyes only watch. He himself though, brought up in the culture he was, could not help but feel his own cracked being, softling under their glow, and to see fireflies on the path. Now with the gold coming up the small pink light goes out. The deer looks most dismayed, and looking back to the gold he panics. But the gold only pushes him forward, and when the deer looks back, his grin and light heart are soundly renewed to see not one but two fireflies, a small blue light, and small green. Kicking up his heels for the first time in ages the small deer charges forth towards them, the golden follows, unable to hide the curl of his lip. Up the path Haldir runs after the multicolor fireflies as they grow more numerous. At last the path twists, turning back out onto a grassy plateau, seared off into a cliff of the mountain. Here he stops, dumbfounded. Hundreds of fireflies danced low about the grasses, and out beyond the cliff, was the lake and mountains. Most importantly of all, Haldir finally looked up at the stars. His elenath. The golden comes from the path to see his small deer sitting amid the fireflies staring up at the sky. He too finds himself caught in the brilliance of it tonight. Then it explodes. The dark sky like tears ripping open, strikes with yellows, oranges, and reds. The Aurora Borealis erupting across the valley. Haldir’s little body can not contain the light and energy the sight pumped through him. The small dark deer leapt up from his spot and in twists and turns began to frolic about the fireflies, who looked like small mirrors to the sky. Such moods of his companion were not the golden’s favorite. He preferred calmer creature, who did not frolic. But, he could not bring himself to stop it for it was at least better than having the thing drag him down. So he stands, looking out over the scene at ease with Haldir a light of life again. OOC :: @[Knox], this is like a little trail just after the Arch but before the sentinels. And once again I cry for the shame of writing a novel. ;-; Also, this is open to anyone to join! * so uh, she's just standing on the opposite side of haldir, facing the two of them awkwardly.
like the awkward little duckling that she is. in case it needed clarification. :3 RE: Fireflies - Thranduil - 06-14-2015 It was not often the golden was caught in such a moment, a rare moment of peace and ease. They were usually brought to quick and swift ends by those such as Knox. Perhaps fate smiled upon the happy scene then to leave it as is, to have the violent creature slip off unnoticed. Though it wasn’t allowed to continue in full peace. A clattering sound of hooves echo upon rocks and hard ground. Haldir was too swept up still to noticed, but the golden’s crowned head snaps to the noise. Had it not been for the simultaneous movement of white markings, or the light above he might not have seen her well. Harks lift, and he picks a cocked hind hoof up and straightens out his easy sway. He didn’t want to look like he enjoyed watching this childish scene too much. After all he had a reputation to maintain. The mare who stepped forward though was new to him. That seemed to be happening more and more these days. For a man who prided himself on knowing everything that was whispered about this land, that was a small blow. Still, no time like the present to make up lost ground. He wasn’t a social butterfly mind you, but correcting this error of not recognizing her was a welcomed opportunity. Earth eyes follow her as she comes to him, saying nothing, and moving not. Her soft voice breaks the silent explosive colors above, but it is soft and hushed. Most curious this creature. Her deep philosophical words raises questions, but he says nothing. It wasn’t that there was not connection with him to the beauty above. Though may things about his past he forgot or hide behind closed doors, it was the love of stars that he let flourish. The culture of it, letting it wrap him still in a comfort stronger than any other natural sight. The stars were the guidance, the watchers, and keepers. They did not show insignificance, but a significance. Above were those who can before, who cherished those below and kept them safe from the dark of night. They shone with such a light of beauty that the sun could never match. That was why, they always said, they disappeared when he was out. So bright did the sun try to out do the stars he made sure they were never seen in the same sky. But no matter how it tried, he light could not match theirs. But these thoughts were kept inside, and close. Only with Haldir had he fostered the traditions, and mostly only because he was fairly certain Haldir would never tell. He might have gone on this path, a philosophical drawl that, like a part time hobby, pleased him. He even started out. “Indeed.” But as he turned back to gaze at that of which they spoke he noticed Haldir had frozen. He never continued the thoughts, and so it rested instead like an agreement as he watched the other mare. The gold had been so wrapped up in the coming of the other he had not even noticed the other, and his bonded’s notice of it. Haldir at catching the mare leap such as he had stopped himself. His dark sides heaving but his face light still. He had never known another to act like him. Those the golden usually called upon were very different. But to see her, or rather catch the tail end, of her leap, fills him with a tinge of excitement that such a creature can exist. His dark tail wags, and in the boldness of happiness he bleats to her. Bounding up his front as he does so. Coming down he bends, waiting for her to answer in her own movements, not noticing how her realization of others might have ended the moment. The gold watches, noting again, that here was another mare he did not know. His quiet moment was certainly wrapping up, but then, he also noted, they were both at least, easy on the eyes. He wasn’t looking in particular, but they were certainly better company that some other he could think of. His crowned head dips to her. Turning back to the mare who stood beside him finally speaks up again. The moment for a philosophical banter had turned though. Much to his regret, it would have been a fun distraction. “Are you new to these sights?” The ever prodding questions of their names, histories and personalities would as always have to be dished out in the politeness of conversation. He was careful not to speak too curiously, not wanting to seem too interested. Instead he lets his hind re-cock and tasseled tail sway at the hard earth. Even if he had shaken the ease off himself for a moment, he resettles it in the normal task of figuring out others. Always an enjoyable distraction.
