Vorsa was far more enthusiastic about their arrival than Mara was - she zoomed away from her place on Gaucho's antlers to greet Azeeza. Her body was now etched in flames - fire that she now had the ability to control - and she showed off his skill to her friend with delight. Trilling boastfully, she made the flames on her wings brighten for a moment before reducing down to normal.
Gaucho watched his companion with a small smirk - ever the needy one, she was certainly the more animated of his two companions. Mara was not at all bothered by this comparison, and dutifully remained silent and stoic in Gaucho's antlers. "Buce." Gaucho greeted as his former-chancellor came to a halt. Gaucho gave the black and a gold a flat stare in response to his joke. Bucephalus' humour had never really translated over well to Gaucho, and yet he continued to try anyways. The Wildfire had gotten used to it over the seasons, and shrugged off his words with a grunt. "Maren, Cera, and Rhoa handling crafting now." He advised, assuming Buce was either here to confirm that he wanted to remain a crafter, or do something else. He hadn't held the same position for more than a season Gaucho didn't think. What would he do this time? "Buce can keep crafting or .. Or maybe try something different. Something more up your alley ..." They had been without a lead spy for some time now. It hadn't bothered Gaucho who preferred to handle disputes with physical strength rather than hiding in shadows but .. if the Basin had taught him nothing else, they had shown him how valuable the stealthier arts could be. Bucephalus, for all of his loud words and showy displays seemed like he would fit the job nicely. If he wanted it that was. Table style by Tamme! Her bright red eyes followed the blurred movements of her friend, and, as she slowed somewhat, Vorsa leaped to follow her. The phoenix's bright orangey-red body streaked after the falcon. Although she wasn't as fast, her enthusiasm provided more than enough energy to dart and play in the sky.
Gaucho gently shook away Bucephalus' insecurities, like falling sand on the wind. Bucephalus had been a mostly-formidable opponent - and even though he lost repeatedly to the Wildfire (then again, who didn't), he had tried. Very few who were burned by his fire dared to get that close again. But Bucephalus had proved that he had strength of spirit, if not of body. But, Gaucho was a benchmark best not to be measured against. "No not spy-" Gaucho began. He certainly wasn't very good at dramatic pauses or building suspense. He was trying to make Bucephalus think that perhaps he did mean warrior or some such, for if Gaucho wasn't suggesting he be a spy, what else was there? Then again, with as crafty as Bucephalus was, he'd likely already figured out Gaucho's underlying assumption and jumped ahead. Flicking his tail, Gaucho ended the minor-pause. "Sleuth." He clarified with a dark grin. There was literally no one craftier or more cunning in his herd than Bucephalus was. So long as his allegiances could be trusted, he would make a fine sleuth. There were times that the Wildfire had questioned the Morningstar's motives, but although the black had unconventional means, after all these seasons Gaucho was firm in his belief that Bucephalus belonged on the bloody sands. Doubting Bucephalus would turn down the offer - especially since he had already guessed in was in the spying vein, Gaucho continued. "Spies have different rank magic. Can craft lies, can go invisible ... or do better at blocking herd from thieves. Thieves not bother Throat much, not with bridge and -" A dark smile pried Gaucho's lips over as he thought of all those who had recently tried to steal from him and his herd: Diesel and Knox. One warning and they had submitted to his wraith. Then there was Confutatis, still holed up on their lands. The might of the Throat had proven victorious in every challenge; Gaucho was confident Bucephalus would not need the latter ability. " Which Buce want?" Table style by Tamme! Image Credits |
