Tender Moon bless us tonight - Parelia - 01-04-2016

Parelia and Gull
She stood on the pretty white sands watching the massive golden disk rising above the ocean. Honey eyes were at peace as the night moon slowly rose higher. Penna stood silently on her withers shinny black eyes watching the scene before them. It was peaceful on the islands. They hadn't really run into anyone since they had moved here, and he liked that, a lot. About midnight her sides started to twitch with a mild pain. 'Well, Penna, here we go again.' She sighed as she turned towards the thick jungle and started to walk away from the moon's powerful glow. Her dainty head turned back honey eyes searching for the moon and her strength before striding into the forests.

Having given birth twice before she knew about how much time she had; and it was ticking away with the night. Sweat now covered her sides as she searched for a decent spot. Penna flew ahead searching for somewhere safe for his bonded and their new baby. Sure the foal wasn't really his, but it would have a part of his heart just like Ilios and Areli did. Being connected to someone else's soul that could have babies made them yours as well; in his eyes anyway. Finally he called back to his bonded as she paused to rest, 'Found spot!' The falcon flew back to his winged mare excitement and concern clear on his face.

He lead the way as she slowly trekked through the thick foliage. After what seemed like hours, but was really minutes, they rounded a huge tree. She couldn't help but gasp at the beauty in front of her. It was a cozy (small) clearing resting at the foot of a mighty mountain. Protected with a clear few of the quickly lightening sky. Chiseled head bowed under the pain now pulsing rapidly through her body, the mare made her way to the base of the mountain. Laying down heavily the mare turned her thoughts to Penna. 'Penna, you have to go find Gull, he has to be here for this!' He was gone in a flash, albeit unwillingly, he knew she was right. It came in a rush, with or without Gull there. Within thirty minutes a babe lay at her side. Tears of joy mixed with pain, flowed slowly down her face. Carefully she stood and turned towards her foal before laying back down again. Her gentle tongue quickly cleaned the wet foal a name already on her mind as gentle eyes gazed down at her new foal.

RE: Tender Moon bless us tonight - Violet - 01-04-2016

An awesome one-line quote can go here.

No. This wasn’t right.

Violet could feel herself being sucked away. Barely conscious, but she could feel the warmth of her brother leave. She struggled, trying to stay in, she wasn’t done yet! But alas, the rules of nature and her mother defined her future for now. With a slick slide, she found herself exposed to the chilly air of Orangemoon. Her painted head struggled to lift, to look around. There was a mare next to her, which must be her mother. With an awkward push of her legs, she slid closer to her mom. But where was her brother?

Violet was too exhausted to speak, or to move, and breathing was hard. How was she supposed to tell her momma that her brother was still there? She wasn’t done yet! Her brother needed to get out. A harsh, crackled cry unleashed from her chest before she collapsed it exhaustion next to her mom, breathing heavily. So this is what her world would look like, these weird tall green things, and hard ground. It was nowhere near as comfortable as the darkness she was thrust from.

Hazel eyes struggled to stay open, fluttering as she tried to grasp the concept of life. If this was what her future was, it sure as hell sucked. Her nose crinkled as she noticed another uncomfortable pain brewing. Her stomach churned and gurgled, what was this? Quickly she would find that her instincts would thrust her towards her momma. First though, her brother needed to come out. Momma needed to do that herself, she decided. So for a few moments, she let her eyes flutter close. Her breathing slowed, and it came a little easier. Temporary darkness shrouded her as she fell into a light sleep.

RE: Tender Moon bless us tonight - Gull - 01-05-2016

Gull!
underneath it all, we're just savages

Ever since Firebug had come to him with the news that, well, he’d knocked her up, Gull had been roaming the Isles equal parts smug and totally freaked out. On one hand: uh, hells yes she was pregnant—he was fertile, baby! What a stud! Not that there had been any doubt since Brigand, but it was always nice to know that one’s equipment was in proper working order. The sight of Parelia’s expanding sides had brought him a sort of uncontainable glee, and Gull secretly took as much pride in the baby belly as if he had sported it himself.

But then, there was the other hand—and the what have I done?? hand had the nasty habit of squashing his giddiness. Excited as he was about his second-born-to-be, Gull remembered that this foal would be exactly that: the second. And what had become of the first, after his mother had been murdered? He had lost track of his only son so easily, let him slip into the far corners of gods knew where without so much as a goodbye. Gull himself had grown up without a father, and as far as he was concerned, he was perfectly fine. Muriel had done the work of raising the boy with what time she had had, but Brigand had lost his mother so much younger than he had. To be so alone, and so young…a flash of guilt burned in the dusty paint’s chest as he mulled the whole thing over. Should he have done more to guide the boy, taken him under his wing, so to speak? It would not have been so alien a concept, even for a fatherless bastard like himself.

And so the emotions went, back and forth all season, tugging his heart this way and that like seagulls fighting over a wayward French fry. As Parelia grew farther and farther along, the feelings only intensified. While she may have looked ready to burst, Gull felt it. He couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t even fly properly in his fits of anxiety. He was ashamed to admit it, but in the final days, he took to avoiding her, if only in the hopes that the saying would hold true for his problems: out of sight, out of mind.

Of course, that didn’t exactly apply when Featherbrains took to following him on that sleepless night in mid-autumn. If Firebug’s bird was anything, he was vigilant, and the sight of him swooping overhead was enough to remind Gull of the responsibilities he was dodging. Still…it was an odd time of night for a hawk to be out, the stag thought. With a quickening pulse, he realized that Parelia must have sent him, and he arose clumsily. Was something wrong? Doing his best not to completely panic, Gull whinnied up to the bird, hoping that he would lead him to his mistress, if that had been his intention. Sure enough, the hawk set off through the night, with Gull following blindly on foot. The moon was bright, but the jungle was full of shadows, and he made quite the noise as he crashed through the underbrush.

Thankfully, he did not have far to travel. He arrived just in time to see Parelia on the ground and his newest child sliding into the world. Gull had seen many births in his days, but somehow, this one was different. First of all, the foal was alive beautifully and gloriously so—he noted this as he heard its weak cry. And secondly, the realization crashed upon him, this child was his. He had been worrying and fretting over the very idea for weeks of course, but suddenly and inexplicably, it all seemed so dreadfully silly. Clueless as he might be about parenting, the foal who lay so helpless before him was irrevocably and undeniably his, his flesh, his blood, his.

“We did good, Firebug,” he murmured, chest tight with pride. “We did good.”

RE: Tender Moon bless us tonight - Caine - 01-07-2016

i will not fall; i will not fade
I WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY

Everything was dark and warm. Despite the gradual decrease in space as he and his twin grew, everything had been comfortable. Until the walls started to squeeze in on them, compressing against their small bodies and propelling them out the exit. His twin went first but then everything seemed to calm. The boy stretched in the newly acquired space and, although he missed the feel of his twin beside him, he relaxed into the quietness of the sudden lull - for as long as it lasted.

Unfortunately, it lasted long enough for the colt to begin to drift away into a nap. Long enough, unbeknownst to him, for his father to arrive and admire his twin sister. But that's when the squeezing began again; forcing him into the birthing canal, front hooves first. Internally the colt groaned, pinning his dark slate ears back in his irritation over this turn of events. The squeezing and pushing continues until suddenly he slides out into the Orangemoon chill of very early morning. Suddenly, he no longer felt buoyant. Instead he felt heavy, his small body being forcefully pressed into the scratchy grasses and hard soil he'd been pushed onto. The boy snorts his displeasure and with a bit more effort than he'd ever had to exert, he rolls to curl his spindly legs beneath him and lift his head. Only then does he dare to allow his odd eyes to flutter open.

It all seemed blurry and too bright. He cringes, blinking rapidly in an attempt to clear his eyes with a bit of success. Caine turns his head, allowing his dual-toned gaze to sweep over his surroundings before settling on the slightly smaller form of his twin. She was, overall, darker than himself - blue blending into dark slate with fewer patches of white. It was almost as though she had been lifted by her spindly limbs and dipped, back first, into a pool of blue. The colt stretches his soft, white muzzle towards her and calls quietly and gently to the girl's resting form. For a moment, he lingers there. For a moment, he contemplates shifting closer to her but instead the noises of others disrupts him. The boy's ears shift first, followed soon after with his eyes of silver and teal. The pale figure of his mother is obvious and quickly recognized despite having never seen her before. Her smell is distinct and familiar. It comforts him, even though it had been her that had forced him out of the comfort and safety of her womb. But then, there was the other large figure that was somehow distinctly masculine. His odd eyes shift to the male, gazing at him with a level of curiosity that only a child can possess.

The colt snorts once more, though far more softly this time and after a mere moment of hesitation and a slight tilt of his head, the boy whickers to the stallion. Yet, that's all he manages before falling silent once more. His stomach grumbles, pangs of something he doesn't fully understand clench in his gut but he does not remove his dual-toned gaze from the stallion. Instead, the boy gathers his strength and shifts his weight so that he can place his hooves beneath him. Slowly, upon trembling limbs the boy lifts himself from the uncomfortable cold ground. He fumbles only a bit, widening his stance in an attempt to steady himself. Once Caine has risen and steadied his limbs in a more normal stance, the colt simply stands - quiet but observant until pure instinct pulls him towards his mother where he moves to attempt to latch onto her teat and lose himself in her nourishment.

His curiosity of the stallion does not wane, though. He feels drawn to him - why is anyone's guess but since mother hadn't chased him away, the boy could only imagine that the male held some amount of importance.

RE: Tender Moon bless us tonight - Parelia - 01-19-2016

Parelia and Gull
Even though she was exhausted the mare could tell there was still more to come, but first her daughter needed her. You see Parelia was a seasoned mother, having gone through this twice before she could tell there was another babe itching to be born. It would have to wait, just a minute longer. Penna's sweet reassurance filled her brain, 'I have Gull.' She smiled softly as the grulla stallion appeared before her. Then he spoke. Anger flickered through her briefly. 'We? WE?! Penna, remind me to let you peck him later for that.' The falcon screeched delightedly as he landed beside the filly. "Yes she is beautiful isn't she? How about Violet for her name?" It wasn't a question even though she phrased it so. The first born would be named Violet even if he didn't like it. The filly's call pulled the mare back to the task at hand. Her tongue cleaned the pretty filly swiftly, drying her the best she could. How foolish she was for having a baby born so late in the year. Worry and fear flooded her brain, causing the contractions to intensify. Even as she feared the worst her baby struggled to catch her first breath; wheezing and tired. "It's okay my sweet daughter, rest now love." She smiled softly before looking up at Gull.

"Hope you can handle what's about to happen." Her voice was strained, ragged, of course it was. You have one foal and another one forcing it's way out. You try to hold it back while you tend to the first and a ridiculous stallion. He came in a wave of pain and fluid; swiftly and mercilessly. Black swam before her honey eyes as she struggled to catch her own breath. Unable to hold her head up, it thumped softly to the ground. She just needed to rest, just for a second, catch her breath. It wasn't until the sweet sound of her child, alive and moving beside her, drew her back up. He was just as beautiful as his sister. He was larger, not by much though, with the same teal and grey. At least they had something from her side; teal. She smiled and began cleaning him as his teal and silver eyes found her. They seemed slightly out of focus, but this was not the first of her babes to have that issue. Was she cursed to have troubled children for all her life?

Shoving the horrid thoughts away she groomed her son until he was dry and fluffy. "It seems he is quite taken with you." She grinned up at the father. She watched her son shift his attention to Gull, the stud that looked so much like him. She watches with pride as her son finds his hooves with such grace and care. Taking a steeling breath the mare does the same, carefully nosing her daughter. "Sure hope these two are easier than my other children were." She grumbles, just loud enough for everyone to hear. She laughs softly as he watches everyone quiet inelegance rolling from him. Seconds after she finds her own hooves he nudges under her, now much smaller, belly. "Come Violet, join your brother." She leans to gently nuzzle her daughter, and help if need be.

The cream and teal dove, prays they wont eat to long, that they'll be done soon so she can sleep, well a part of her does. She knows an eating baby is a healthy baby. Honey eyes turn to Gull an exhausted smile upon her tender lips. "What do you think of our children?" Penna flutters to her withers cooing with his own joy. The falcon had always enjoyed foals, especially his bonded's. "How about you pick your son's name." Her head lowers as she speaks her strength waning with each moment. Intent on the stallion, she keeps her eyes on him longing to see his smile, feel his gently touch. The mare wasn't sure if he loved her, but she knew she did not love him, not fully anyway. He was a partner, lover, friend, but not a mate. None of that mattered now, they didn't matter, only their living teal and silver twins mattered.

RE: Tender Moon bless us tonight - Violet - 01-20-2016

An awesome one-line quote can go here.

It’s so loud. All she wants them to do is be quiet. Violet groaned, shifting uncomfortably at the sound of her brother’s call. He had already managed to bring himself up, but Violet was far too tired. Against her better judgement, she got to her spider-like legs- twigs that felt like they would snap at any moment. Another wheezing breath racked her body as she gained balance against the ground. With a few more steps, Violet slides closer to their mother. Another man is nearby- but right now mom was all that mattered to the steely girl. He wasn’t acting angry and loud, so she simply assumed that he would not bother her amidst her quest for food.

Following her brothers lead, she reaches her head towards the precious food that her body didn’t know it craved. At least now she was warm, as her mother had rid her coat of the slimy coating that had protected her for all those months before their birth. With a mothers caress, she doesn’t waste any more time latching on to get a drink.

At first, it felt wonderful. Thick and pure she could get lost in it forever. But suddenly, her body seemed to be needing it like a craving. Her throat burned and stomach churned for the first few moments, but gradually melted away as more and more filled her tummy. Time seems to stop for this chunk of time, and Violet can’t tell how long she had been nursing. When she releases, a small bit of milk runs down her mouth, clinging precariously to her whiskers as she now has her attention on the stallion.

With a precarious step she moved forward, little hazel eyes focused on the grey Pegasus. Miles seemed to stretch between them, but with a little more umph and a tummy full of milk, she stumbled forward into her dad’s chest. Blinking, she remain confused, staring at the white body as it moved with each living breath. Turning her head just so, Violet eyes her brother. He would know if this guy was safe, wouldn’t he? For a brief second she awaits his reply, before she turns back to the stallion and rubs her milk-dampened face against his chest. She felt so small compared to her mother and father.

Cautiously she braced herself against her dad’s leg, before turning to face her mother and brother. She nodded for her brother to come over. And if he didn’t, she would go to him. Sure they weren’t the same entity, but even now it still felt wrong to be so far away from him. Letting another quiet wheeze out from her lungs, she waited for her brother, and for her mother and father. She was at their mercy- and they had to dictate what she needed to do.

@Gull  I powerplayed her being near Gull a bit, so if you want that changed let me know. And sorry for the wait guys!
