Tart Tricks - Larue - 06-05-2016 Larue
She shivered with excitement. This was thrilling. It was much better than mother’s milk or father’s sweet smiles. Not that she disliked her parents… the tartlet simply found that her heart raced and interested piqued when something adventurous was happening. (Adventurous meaning mischievous.) So the small slice of lemony sourness stood, hiding behind a rocky outcropping in the deepest part of the caves. It had been harder to escaped mother, this time. But she had— and she had slipped even further away than she had been before. Her long, spindly, pink and yellow limbs had carried her far south. And, growing too hot beneath a sun that was growing warmer the longer she was alive, she sought the shade inside the awning mouth of the cavern. But the cave had made sounds, noises that she had to follow and investigate. They crackled and roared— they sounded possibly dangerous. So she had ventured into the hot depths of the cave (truthfully, the heat stung her candied skin; but she ignored the discomfort as bright aqua eyes watched shadows dance on the wall from the lava’s glow). Scampering out of the cave and over rocks, she collected all the things her small mouth could hold. Making a few trips to and from the cave (her plan grey larger and she twisted and tied twigs, branches, leaves, and vines together, surreptitious glances around assured that no one saw her stealthy plans— or so her youthful mind thought. She stepped back on small, rose thorn hooves to admire her handiwork. Bright eyes flashed in juvenile approval— her makeshift monster of leaf and twig was perfect. Scooting it to the very edge of her outcropping, she watched its shadow dance, magnified and gruesome (to her young eyes) on the far wall. Dark flaxen tail fuzz wiggled in anticipation as she crouched down to wait for some unsuspecting soul— wait! She needed something to scare them with. Scurrying on spindly legs, she gathered pebbles and rocks. Dutifully stacking them, beside her hiding place, building the pile until she was satisfied that they’d make a loud enough noise when they fell. Then, once again, she crouched and waited, sliding her makeshift monster to change its shadow on the wall. Woolly, yellow ears of lemon perk and she froze— was someone coming? She wiggled her haunches once in anticipation and then— CRASH— kicked her pile of rocks as hard as her small hooves could. Eager blue eyes peeked around the outcropping that hid her, hopeful to see some startled soul. @Astarot She's made some kind of shadow-monster with trees/vines/leaves and it's casting a huge shadow on the wall from the lava's glow, while hiding behind a rocky outcropping with it (if this doesn't make sense, just lmk!) She's just a foal, so pardon the rudimentary-ness of her prank :P She also stacked up rocks in piles and kicked them over to make a loud noise when she heard someone coming! <3 RE: Tart Tricks - Astarot - 06-17-2016 RE: Tart Tricks - Larue - 06-18-2016 Larue
Ears perked forward and she stilled her movement of her shadow-monster at the sudden clatter and commotion that funneled into the cave, which is what had caused her to kick over her rock pile. “Who’s there?” The voice sounded young, but deeper than her own and quavering with confidence. A wicked smile crossed her pink, whiskered lips— she had him! But he had asked a question. Crap! She hadn’t thought of how to make a voice for her shadow monster. Biting her small lips in consternation, instead of answering with her tiny voice, she opted to kick a large boulder and send it loudly rolling across the stone floor. And then she peered around the wall, bright eyes drawn to the stomping, tawny hoof of the colt. And, at the sight of his trembling body (larger than her own) and wide, frightened eyes, her high-pitched and lilting laughter exploded and bounced against the rocky surfaces. “Your face,” her young voice sounded between mirthful giggles, “Is so scared!” And she pranced from out behind her hiding place, proudly flicking her tail and holding her head as tall as her minuscule body would allow. When her giggles finally ceased and she had drawn close enough to see the colt’s bi-colored eyes and bright facial markings, she stopped and spoke again, “I’m Larue. Who’re you? And why’re your eyes two different colors?” Her pink-stained, yellow face cocked sideways slightly. But he lemon candy skin twitched as it started to sting even more in the heat, no longer having her prank to distract her from the discomfort. @Astarot |
