@Alysanne @Kianzo Smitty will post Kianzo first, then you can post Sarah! :D Then I'll hop in with Kia <333 RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Kianzo - 06-13-2016
It was crowded. Any womb with two foals in it would be. Especially in this small womb, squeezed between slender hips that had already taken too much of a beating in their life. After all, this warm belly had already nurtured foals before him. One smaller than he and his sister (his sister— his barely sentient mind flutters with life at the thought, legs moving against their mother), and another; a dead, lifeless foal. Does such a death haunt a womb? Does it leaves morbid scars on tissues that should abound with life? By a dark twist of fate, this colt felt the phantom strokes of the reaper’s blade gently stroke around both he and his sister— though perhaps he noticed such caresses more than his sister.
Regardless, despite the cramped space, such a cocoon was warm. He was with his other half, the form that had pressed against him and the mind that had shared the amnion since before their lives had even begun. Their hearts, when they had begun to beat, ticked in unison. Or, they had until mother’s muscles had begun to tighten around them. He wasn’t ready to leave. Conscious stirs once again, minuscule hooves cloaked in nature’s slippers twitching as if of a mind to hold on and fight these early contractions. But this darkling prince’s protests were in vain, for his mother’s body quickly shifted from welcoming womb to hostile home in a matter of moments. Sister went first— she did not fight as he did. More complaint, less aggressive; even in utero the twins had fit their roles. Wrapped around each other, a yin and yang shrouded in blood’s shadow… After long moments, (the darkling prince did fight), he slipped through the squeeze of canal— it was so tight that it jerked his mind into motion. The moment his muzzle felt cool air, roaring breaths and surprisingly loud grunts came from gurgling lungs. And his first sight was the folded, golden mass of sister. Not his dam nor the black and white blur alongside the body who had given him life. No. His slick neck slid across the soil wet with birthing fluids, muzzle reaching towards the equally slick chest of the fellow life that had shared creation with him. The pounding beat that had accompanied him in the womb galloped beneath his muzzle. Though he did not know what a ‘heartbeat’ was in technicality, his body understood the comfort of it all the same. So, satisfied, the over-large colt gathered his too-long legs. They bunched, paused, and then he surged to his soft hooves, wobbly and shaking— but still standing. The princeling’s unfocused, bright blue eyes swept his sister’s form once again before his head swung to find mother. The movement made him totter, a spindly leg of pale yellow and grey stumbling to catch his unbalanced newborn body. But he remained standing. Aqua eyes blink at the unfocused golden form that smelled like the birth that clung to his coat and saturated the ground around him. A nicker— more air than true noise from his infant voice— called to their dam. He could not yet walk. So she should rise and come to them— he and his sister. There was an instinctual hunger in his barrel, and they needed their dam up to satiate it. At least that’s how his small mind fathomed it. Kianzo I want the WORLD or NOTHING. THEY'RE ALIVE :D :D RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Kiada - 06-13-2016 It was like a release. She had been stuck inside the womb for so long - cramped next to her beloved brother (of course she couldn't complain too much, she didn't understand any better). But with her hulking brother taking up much of the room, the filly was almost excited to feel the movement of her mother's womb - enticing her to embrace the path of the unknown. And so, like the filly's nature and unlike her brothers - she followed the path. Born first, the movement was rather swift. Blue eyes squinted against the ominous red that swallowed her and who she knew as Mother. Though unlike her mother, she embraced the color - her young subconscious not knowing the devilish meaning behind such a scarlet color. Instead, it was the color of her birth and she loved it. After looking upon her surroundings, blurry eyes slowly growing into focus, she shook herself as she sat on the earth clumped as a newborn. She felt the gentle movements of the creature that was caring for Mother, the tiny beast that squeaked and chimed rather loudly for the young filly. Instincts caused her ears to flit back in frustration. Why did the thing have to be so loud? But then Mother looked upon her, and her small ebony head lifted to look upon the cream colored creature - the sweat that stuck her fur and mane in random directions, the golden chains that Kiada watched with awe as it sparkled and clinked with movement, slid across her mother's body. "Kiada" The filly heard and watched further with wide accepting blue eyes. She squeaked her own nicker of acceptance, watching as her mother fell back to the earth to give life to Brother. 'Brother.' She thought, letting the polecat do his best to clean her up against the pain that she felt within her barrel. Kiada was growing restless, wishing to move but stuck by awe in watching and dealing with the furry creature. But all her restlessness changed when her brother was born. Turning her ivory striped skull toward her mother again as she spoke her brothers name - she accepted it entirely. She was to be this sound of Kiada, her brother was to be the sound of Kianzo. That was easy enough. But she was still distracted by the sounds that surrounded them - mostly the obnoxious squeaking of the polecat before he disappeared. As she looked down to her gangly onyx dipped legs, she turned her head more to see her brother - his own wide beautiful eyes taking her in as he reached for her. She pressed into him, tiny black muzzle racing across his black markings that lined his face in an inverted mirror of her own. A weak attempt at a nicker to her brother, urging him as he stood and she realized she was still on the ground. This surely couldn't do, for the filly. They had to do things together. That was how it was supposed to be. So she, too, felt the surging of her legs as she moved the onyx pillars in an attempt at standing. And when she was successful, she felt herself lean into her brother slightly - just enough to keep her own balance but not enough to throw off his own. He called for Mother, and she stood in waiting. Wondering why she wouldn't stand and feed them, and seeking out to fix the pain that was within her. She reached for her brother once more, black muzzle seeking its way to his small golden shoulder before she took a shaky step closer to Mother. A small squeak of a whinny escaping her lips as if she could coax her Mother into standing and feeding her. All the while, her magic began to show. It wasn't strong yet, but it did carry a tiny line of flame that lined her back. Harmless, but giving off a slight amount of light in its weak state. She hadn't seen any animals other than the polecat, so the fire hadn't quite yet taken form - but it was still weak and hard to see unless you looked at her for long enough. She felt nothing but excitement at the rapid world around her and the scarlet hues that drowned her family, but was still carrying that mix of frustration from not being fed just yet. "Talk." Kiada just like the eyes, the HEART can adjust to DARKNESS. SCREAMING FOREVER. RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Alysanne - 06-13-2016 we heal with love, Armed with the wonderful new bag that Raeden had gifted her, Alysanne and Hemlock had set out from the Edge to gather herbs that they could bring back to replenish the garden. It was strange, having such an easy means to carry things around - Hemlock easily dropping their discoveries into the small bag or rooting through what was in there to figure out what they had already gathered. Their meanderings, peaceful in the calm of Birdsong, brought them further east than they had been in a while. It was therapeutic, returning to this simple task of a healer, and until she discovered where she had walked there had been no glimmer of that destructive anger or bitterness. But when she recognized the blood-coloured forest, the darkness here that she had hesitated before once, it rushed back as she recalled meeting Kaj here - their quick, angry exchange of words before they parted. Though she did not fear the shadows today they overtook her mind where she hesitated once more on the border of that forest, and was lost in them until Hemlock’s deep voice cut in. Aly! Weird hairy snake look angry! Hemlock alerted her through their bond and she quickly glanced around, worried that she had accidentally stumbled into a nest or disturbed one of the creatures that lived in this strange land. Soon she spotted the animal in question, though it didn’t appear to be so much angry as agitated… and was it motioning to her to follow? There wasn’t even a question of whether she would follow or not - there was no hesitation as she moved to follow the small ferret-like creature. Surely, she thought, it must be a companion? If someone was injured, or needed help, she wasn’t going to waste time debating whether it was a companion or not. She followed him on foot, ignoring and pushing past the brambles and thorns that caught in her downy white wings. They did not have far to travel before they came across the hidden family in a world washed with red. “Rexanna!!” The name of the golden mare, who she had shared laughter and stories with in the Rotunda not so long ago, ripped from her in a rush of surprise and terror. But in another breath she realized that it was the light filtering through the strange scenes that added to the gory scene. As she entered the hideaway spot she could see that there was no pools of blood, and while she was still alarmed she felt relieved as well - believing her magic alone would be enough to help here. The foals were standing on their own and looked healthy, if in need of a good cleaning, so she focused her attention on the prone mare. Closer now, she could see that there were still injuries as though Rexanna had been beaten and her heart ached at the sight. Moving gingerly but quickly, Alysanne approached and lowered her head to nudge her friend’s neck softly. “My dear, everything’s going to be okay. You have two beautiful foals that need you and then you can sleep.” As she spoke, she called on the dark healing wind of her station as it flowed from her to caress the white and gold mare, tracing the bruises and cuts and hopefully reviving some energy to an exhausted new mother and repair some of the damage that had been caused. She only prayed that the same one who had caused these deep bruises wasn’t the same someone who the two young foals bore a resemblance to. alysanne @Rexanna <3 RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Rexanna - 06-13-2016
@Alysanne @Kianzo I DID THIS ON MY PHONE BECAUSE I HAD TO :l sorry it's meh. RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Orithia - 06-13-2016
Twins. Orithia couldn't help the smile that sprang to her lips as her eyes beheld the pair of foals; a boy and a girl, the perfect mixture of their mother and father. The pale woman had not moved from her place hidden in the tree line, had not made a single sound since the labor had begun. She would make no move to assist Rexanna or the children, no, she was merely here to observe and report, to make sure that the golden splashed mare had not been lying when she claimed the child (well, children, now) were Tembovu's. A slight fluttering stirred in the mare's chest, an echo of adoration that she struggled to tamp down. No, she told herself, You cannot love these children. There are other plans for you. With a deep breath, the air tinged with the faint scent of blood and sweat, Orithia steeled herself against her heartsong. There was no place for her at the table of motherhood and she would not deign to beg for the attentions and love that was reserved for those who belonged. Exhaling slowly through her nostrils, the blushed mare took in the sight of the gangly cherubs, the onyx and gold and ivory and blue - the beautiful new shades of the Plainswalker King's brood. If only Rexanna knew that the mare she resented would have laid her life at the feet of giants for those two tiny lives. But she would never know and she would never care, and with that, Orithia gave one last longing glance toward the foals before turning and vanishing back into the forest. She had a King to serve. (Permission from Sky to post like a creep) RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Alysanne - 06-13-2016 we heal with love, Alysanne watched carefully as her friend (her bonds always were formed quickly) and patient stretched her legs before standing up. She hovered as if she were the mother watching a young foal stand, making sure that the healing had taken and that the golden mare could stand on her own. Her worries were unfounded and she was pleased to see that there was little difficulty in the matter and she was soon standing. “Anytime, Rexanna.” It was a soft promise accompanied by a warm smile as the dark muzzle of Rexanna brushed against her neck. The foals had strong instincts and wasted no time to fill empty bellies and she watched them - thinking about her own children. Her mind drifted to the sprigs of mint she had in her bag, which might rejuvinate the new mother a little bit, but before she could ask Hemlock to grab them the question that came from Rexanna pushed those thoughts aside. Concern gave way momentarily to confusion as she looked around - seeing a dark but otherwise normal looking forest. Certainly unsettling but she hadn’t known it to be dangerous. “I was gathering herbs for the Edge. It’s just a for--” But her declaration that this was just a forest died in her mouth when she remembered that she had just had to heal Rexanna of bruises and scrapes that weren’t very old. This probably had not been her first choice in a place to give birth to her twins and it seemed likely that the trauma had disabled her from fleeing very far. “What do you mean, dangerous? What’s out here?” Who hurt you? Her green eyes became clouded once more with concern and Hemlock took off to scout around the place and keep an eye for anyone that might approach, both the owl and his bonded feeling on edge after. Whatever it was, it didn’t change the confidence in her voice when she spoke again. “You’re safe now, you all are.” She smiled warmly in the direction of the eating twins before her green eyes once more met the blue of Rexanna - forgetting that she hardly had the physical strength to back up these promises but she did have the determination. “I won’t let anything happen to you and your family.” alysanne @Rexanna RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Kianzo - 06-15-2016
His twin, his other half, did not allow to stand alone for very long. And, as it should be, she rose in a similar fashion to his. There was no faltering of legs or wobbling of bodies between the two, gold-dipped foals. They were standing, together, mirrored faces with bright, bleary eyes trying to focus on their mother. His small shoulder instinctively took the brush and lean of his sister’s slender one. And then she was moving, eager and active eyes drawing her towards the fallen, blurry, bloodied form that was their mother. The darkling prince shivered once as a chill from amnion-soaked skin settled through his newborn skin. But his attention was focused on sister. ’Kiada’ had been the sound coming from the being that pushed them into this world. So his soulmate was now known as Kiada. He did not appreciate the magic that promised to flicker on his siblings spine, yet. He would, in time. But now, his long legs took wobbling (but certain) steps towards their dam— just as Kiada had. They had spent too many months alongside each other in mother’s womb to separate now. And they had been robbed of a month, unbeknownst to the prince. The beating their mother’s body had taken expelled them too early from the warm womb. But no matter, the children of the Elephant King were apparently healthy. A sound, ‘Rexanna’? A large black and white form followed on the heels of the small, squeaking black and white form that had been their for his birth. He attempted a small snort— and, even in his infancy, succeeded halfway. What was this? A cool wind suddenly chilled him further. It was cold and dark, taking away the red-tinge to all that was around him. The colt didn’t know how truly red this place was, though. Life inside Rexanna had been red, and so it was natural for life outside to be crimson-dyed as well. In time, he would come to know differently— though he would forever hold an affinity for the bloodied color. Wet muzzle reached for his sister’s skin, finding her barrel as they waited for mother to satiate the gnawing pain within them. Tail flicking in time with her heartbeat, he waited with an innate impatience that was sure to trouble him later in life. But then mother was rising up, up— standing. And it was time for his sister and him to feast. His leg stomped once— leading to a dangerous wobble— when Marembo first started cleaning them. But, finding that his skin grew warmer when cleared of the remanned of birth, he stilled and allowed the polecat to clean him as he fed. Filled, his head dropped to look beneath Rexanna’s barrel at his sister. Beyond her, his unfocused newborn eyes saw a moving blob of white— but soon it was gone. He then reached his muzzle out, beneath mother’s deliciously full udder, to touch his sister once again. But was rewarded with a face-full of streaming, warm, sweet milk. The prince squealed, but remained by Rexanna’s flank. Kianzo I want the WORLD or NOTHING. @Rexanna RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Kiada - 06-15-2016 Despite being one working creature with two beating hearts, Kiada was competitive with her brother. She wanted to do everything he could, mastering it all with grace whereas her brother would return the gesture with a more darker tone to it. So of course she wouldn’t let him stand by himself, alone. They had to be one and she just wouldn’t have it any other way. So she pressed into him, taking in the names that they had been graced with. A small nicker escaped her lips in a small amount of surprise as the tiny polecat returned with an even bigger creature. Wide blue orbs took in the pegasus, curiously staring blatantly at the mare’s wings as she spoke words the filly didn’t understand to Mother. Kianzo snorted, returning Kiada’s attention on her brother. She would be sure to investigate the plumes that the other mare carried. But even in her small age, Kiada did notice the lack of a golden horn that Mother had. What this meant, she didn’t know. She just knew that Mother was associated with gold and horns and this new creature was known by her wings and the feathers that dusted the earth. As she looked to her brother, she noticed the promising stub of a horn that was to grow, and this relieved her. But she realized that she needed to figure out if she had one as well. Because, well, if she had no horn, she’d be very upset. The thoughts didn’t last long, as the wind chilled and billowed around her and her twin, focusing mostly on Mother. Kiada watched, tilting her head slightly as her hind legs shook with the sudden chill. Yet, as if the burning sensation within her belly was any sort of indication of her hunger, Mother stood on tired legs. She moved with Kianzo, steps in time and tails flicking with each other. Mirrors, just as they would always be. She quickly moved over to Mother and began to eat, hearing the squeal of her brother from his milky lips. She peered at him from under the golden barrel of Mother and squealed her own reply. The smallest of smiles billowing from pink rimmed ink stained lips. She reached for her brother, as he reached for her. Her muzzle bumping against his, making sure that they were there and together. Her blue gaze taking in every inch of the golden prince, the sun to her moon. Ebony head shifting with the movement to return to Rexanna before filling her belly to the brim and making her way over to stand beside her brother, watching as Marembo bounded over to her and attempted to clean off her legs as well. She reacted the same as her brother, lifting legs in uncertainty but giving in to the gentle hands of her mother’s companion. "Talk." Kiada just like the eyes, the HEART can adjust to DARKNESS. RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Rexanna - 06-15-2016
@Alysanne omg rex youre talking so much can u not. RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Alysanne - 06-17-2016 we heal with love, It was certainly distracting to have two brand new foals so close by. As concerned as Alysanne was about Rexanna’s worries she feared her green eyes drifted toward them more than they should have. She was paying strict attention to her friend, of course, but she also watched with the wariness of a mother as the pair stood and took their first steps and finally - messy as they still were - began to eat, squealing at each other from around Rexanna. Fortunately, Rexanna spoke again - cutting off any chuckles on Alysanne’s part over the antics of the foals - and stated that it was a long story. Well, that she could understand. She waited patiently to see if it was a story the golden blanketed mare wished to share - but without any pressure that she needed to. It had already been a long day, surely, without explaining to someone else the troubles that had befallen her. She allowed her attention to drift back to the foals, letting Rexanna decide whether she should elaborate. And a few moments later, she did. Deep frowns burrowed into Alysanne’s face and eyes as the story was told, a terrible tell about a ex-betrothed with revenge on his mind. Only now did she notice the terrible C marred into her friend’s flesh and the sight sent a shiver down Alysanne’s back, causing her wings to ruffle and she rather felt like leaving this little grove and finding whoever that was as giving them a piece of her mind. But then... well, then Tembovu was brought up. Alysanne actually snorted angrily as Rexanna made excuses for Tembovu, attempting to transfer the blame of what happened to Mauja onto herself. She at least waited until the golden mare was finished before speaking in argument, not wanting to interrupt even for this. “No, Rexanna, that was not your fault. I have faced the anger of the Elephant King - would you take blame for that as well? I don’t know what he is to you but he is still his own self and no one is responsible for his actions but himself.” “Were you there, urging him to burn the skin off of Mauja? You cannot carry the weight of his inability to control his anger, that is not on you - just because you wished to live in the herd you dedicated yourself to.” This only aggravated Alysanne more toward her king, that such a petty reason could be behind the violence they had seen in the Deep Forest that night. Must he control everyone. But Rexanna’s affections for Tembovu stayed her tongue from speaking further on the subject - they were his children, after all - and she might have already spoken too much on the matter. So she attempted to move on, stifling her anger away to be dealt with at a later time. “I’m sorry, Tembovu and I haven’t been getting along since that night with Mauja. But come, care for your children and rest a bit. Do you still wish to go to the Edge? I don’t know who turned you away but as far as I’m concerned, you would be most welcome there.” Wherever Rexanna wanted to go, she would have a hard time convincing Alysanne to leave her alone - at least until they were out of these woods. She certainly had no intention of bowing out quietly if the new family would take the pilgrimage to the Edge. “I’m sure Tembovu would like to hear the happy news of the family.” And she smiled honestly then, hoping that statement was true. alysanne @Kianzo, @Rexanna I feel like this bounces all over the place so I apologize D: my brain would not cooperate and I didn't want to sit on it too long RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Rexanna - 06-27-2016
@Alysanne we're still working out who's gonna tell Temb so we can just have Aly come back to the Basin with her if you'd like :D RE: you underestimate me [birthing] - Alysanne - 06-28-2016 we heal with love, It took a great deal of patience not to roll her eyes at Rexanna as she patiently ignored Alysanne's small rant about their mutual acquaintence - though thankfully the golden mare’s attention was on caring for her children as a small scowl flickered across Alysanne’s face. Her misgivings about the Elephant King appeared to be unwanted - which was fair enough, considering everything that Rexanna had just gone through. Who was Alysanne to try to bring down her happiness by a notch? This should be a happy moment and she hoped that when the father heard the news, it still would be. She had every intention of knocking some sense into Tembovu if he thought anything less or if he mistreated Rexanna in any way... But, she reminded herself, the truth was that she knew nothing about their relationship and she was only making assumptions based on her experience with one side of it. For all she knew, the two were blissfully happy at this new family. Her bitterness was making her a rather poor friend. Sharing the news with Tembovu was no inconvenience, really, she’d have to go back to the Edge anyway - right? It was a small task and one that would help Rexanna out so she didn’t hesitate on her response. “I’ll let him know.” She promised quietly, willing that scowl to turn into a smile - which was not so difficult in the peaceful company of new life. Hemlock reported that he spotted no one else in the forest surrounding them, which would certainly be a comfort as they began to move. “But first let’s get you all back home.” alysanne <333 just a little one to wrap this up |
