Glitter Glue - Ashamin - 07-19-2016 Deep in the crystal cavern, the trio were provided with some much needed relief from the heat. They formed a line as they moved through the Crystal Cavern, Rakt leading at the front and Lochan at the back, tasked with memorizing the way they had come. Given his trademark poor sense of direction, Ashamin stayed between them and let himself be led through the narrow, labyrinthine corridors of ancient crystal. Since discovering the words to unlock the power in his spinal piece, the Clovenheart had taken to wearing it more so he could adjust to the weight of it on his back. The antlers were not particularly heavy, but the way that they were fastened took some getting used to. It would protect his back, but also hinder his motions in some settings, so he figured the best way to become used to it was to shackle himself with its limitations even when it wasn’t necessary. That way, when it was… Ahead of him, Rakt jumped and goat-kicked at the thought. Ashamin stopped short to avoid the cerndyr’s hooves and nickered a warning: "Careful Rakt, this is not the thistle meadow." And it was true, that they were in an entirely different setting. They had spent much of their time in the open air aboveground, and though the crystal cavern was cooler than the sunny expanses above there was much less room to maneuver. Ashamin turned back to glance at Lochan, but there was no need to issue the dark cerndyr the same warning. Lochan was, as always, well behaved and doing as he should. The Little Eye was determined that they not be lost underground, or trapped forever in the tight passages lined with precious stones. RE: Glitter Glue - Ashamin - 07-22-2016 When he heard a voice coming from behind him in the crystalline tunnels and turns, he knew it had to be Rhea’s. Even after only one word, one faint shimmer of its echo, he knew it could be no one else. For who else would know to call out to that sound, who else would chase it instead of turning back? It wasn’t that she was curious, it was that she knew what to expect. Knowing this, he did not wait until he saw her face to respond. "So you got Lochan’s message, then," Ashamin called out, smiling even before she could see it as he referred to their change of venue for this meeting. "I spoke too soon when I said we should meet in the Blood Falls, I didn’t yet know its faults. No doubt the two of us would be soaked to the bone by now if we’d met there!" Ashamin explained with a nicker of amusement as he pictured Rhea with her wings wet and heavy and maneuvered to search for the source of her call. His companions followed without hesitation, going wherever their bonded go. That was, as always, the nature of their relationship. When sight failed him he sought out Rhea’s heartbeat, hoping that the echo confined to her chest would be easier to pinpoint. A turn here and there opened up a cavern—at the far side of it, another tunnel that revealed her back. "Rhea," the Clovenheart said, his voice soft now that he could see the mare he sought, "It’s good to see you." His long white tail fell softly on the ground, and his two companions stepped beyond Ashamin and shook, relishing in the space provided to them by the cavernous opening. Though it was still not the thistle meadow, at least here it was easier to breathe. RE: Glitter Glue - Ashamin - 07-27-2016 Ashamin greeted Rhea’s first remark with an innocent smile, but all the same filed away the possibility of her having a dislike for the caves. He would find another place for them to meet, next time. For now though they were already here, and Rhea seemed to have rushed to catch him and meet. He nodded at her mention of this, his long tail curling behind him and casting thin white reflections in the crystals around them. "No, not long," he assured her as his two companions flitted about, taking advantage of the abundance of space that they had come into and surveying it with white, unbroken eyes. Ashamin’s own dark orbs settled on the hybrid mare as he wondered for a moment if she had any news to share. Then again, it had always been a foolish habit of his to wonder when he could ask, His large ears tilted forward, ready to hear whatever she had to say, as he asked his question. "How have you fared? The Unbound is growing every day, have you met any of the others?" Ashamin had given several newcomers the name of the hybrid, but he hadn’t yet heard from any of them that they’d encountered her. Perhaps they had not; the wilds were large, and took some time to navigate, after all. Given that many of their numbers were new to Helovia entirely, it would be difficult for them to move through it quickly enough to pinpoint one mare. Ashamin supposed this could be considered a downside of the outcast band life, but he considered the upsides to far outnumber the inconvenience. After all, were they not to be independent? Still, it was good to see a familiar face. He moved closer to Rhea after speaking, offering her his cheek as he had done before in the steppe. There was only a glimmer of hesitation in his eyes when it occurred to him that now, in a moment less vulnerable, a mare as strong as Rhea might not seek the comfort of such a gesture.
