Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Tembovu - 09-03-2016

She had given him hope. Again. Though, unlike last time, the King held this hope with tempered expectations. There was no true promise, this time. Just a hint of possibility; the whispers of euphoria. But they were intangible for the moment, as his long and heavy strides carried him tiredly past the glass littered borders of the Edge. So thorough was his exhaustion (both physically and mentally) that he could not even spare the glittering shards his usual, irritated glance.

And Mbwene waited for him, just beyond the stretch of scintillating fragments. Her ears were flared, her trunk ticked impatiently, and her bright navy gaze was expectant—though it would be a lie to say that there was no concern lacing the annoyance on her wrinkled face. She had felt the tumultuous waves of emotion from her bonded as he had met his and Rexanna’s children for the first time. And she felt his acute melancholy at arriving back to the Edge alone, once again.

But there was still hope. A festival in the following season. He would return to the Basin’s steep mountains when the days began to shorten and the heat began cool out of the air. “Edge! In Orangemoon, I will visit the Basin to respect our alliance and partake in their celebrations. All are welcome to join!”

His voice boomed, though there was no hiding the weariness in it. It was not a robust call, but a tired one. Still, as he looked pointedly at his companion and then glanced to the skies, he hoped the word would travel via equids and companions that had heard his call.

And then, finally the Elephant King began to move towards his grove of massive evergreens in hopes to find sleep.

RE: Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Tilney - 09-03-2016

The moon doctor and his young would be the first to heed the kings call. A festival! and at the Aurora Basin. What a better way to show Maude the world than to take her out into it. And now that dear Aelfwine was here with him they could go together - as a family.
Tilney had filled his daughters head with countless stories of his time in the other nations of Helovia - once a weary traveller in the Hidden Falls, and then a scourge at the Basin. It was the very herd Tilney and his beloved had served before making their home at the Edge - Tilney would not hesitate to show Maude and his only full blooded sibling his old home.
The chestnut lad also wondered if Ultima might like to accompany them. It was a place he assumed she had never been, and though the north had a tendency to be quite racist towards any non-unicorns, he was quite certain his apprentice would be most welcome should he vouch for her. There was lots he could teach her about Northern healing as he had been a nurse at the basin under the guidance of the Songbird for many seasons.

"Come Maude, our king has an invitation for you! Let's find Aelfwine." Tilney cooed to the pearl filly, setting off at a ground-grabbing trot. Tilney would only assume his mate would be joining them also, though if her duties as Seer prevented her then he would take Maude alone. "Ultima!" Tilney called throughout the wood,s hoping his apprentice would hear his call - the flaxen physician would propose she come with his family to the festival also.
The journey would be faster in the company of his favorite friends; Tilney only hoped they would share his enthusiasm. A festival, how exciting.

RE: Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Zubari - 09-05-2016

Zubari

The colt was always out adventuring in this new world. There was so much to learn and he was not going to let anything slip past him. His observant eyes caught the trail of a bright blue bird flying low between the towering trees. Hooves raced with the winged creature hoping to catch up with the flash of color. Nostrils flared and his heart felt like it was about to beat out of his chest, but the colt never stopped to take a break. Zubari pushed himself harder and harder, he had to catch up with it. There was no excuse to why he couldn't, he would be weak if the bird was able to get away. Long lanky legs pumped faster and faster and his nostrils were almost close enough to reach out to grab a feather until it all came to a halt.

The bird scattered at a loud call made by no one other than his father. Gold eyes narrowed watching the blue wings take its flight into the sky above. The direction had changed so suddenly. The bird was avoiding something very, very large. The boy had not time to slow down, or even come to a halt. Soon that large figure was right there, and golden eyes grew wider and wider as his clumsy foal legs tried to come to a stop.
It was to late
Zubari tumbled full force into the elephant kings shoulder. His small body hit the ground with a soft thud and he sat on chocolate haunches looking at his father. Mixed emotions ran through his mind, and the boy was unsure what to even say or do at this point of time."Ops.... the bird wouldn't slow down, then it saw you and went into the sky... I just wanted one blue feather.." The words rambled from his mouth as quickly as they could. He dare not to stumbled over them because that would be another mess up. Standing up the boy looked to his father. Deep gold eyes observed the Elephant like stallion. Tilted golden nubs on his skull turned to the left, then to the right."What is the Basin, and can I go with you?" He resented having to say he wanted to go with his father, but this place sounded interesting, and this might be his only ticket to get there. The boy examined his father closer, and he was quiet for that moment. Narrowing his golden eyes his childish voice rose in the silence again. "Are you okay?"

RE: Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Maude - 09-05-2016

An invitation!” still vaguely rings through her head from having shouted it a few moments prior. She’d quite happily followed after her dad to retrieve it, the first of many questions being what the invitation was to.

Cheerfully bounding alongside her sire in a most sporadic canter and trot combination, the cream darling is already filled with childish dreams of the Festival. Wondering if her pretty aunts might help her with her hair, she is quickly lured away by fanciful notions of flowing taffeta cloaks, and twinkling tiaras of enchanted ice. Obviously, the notion of getting to go to any sort of party at all was already intriguing enough, but when paired with the thought of going somewhere other than the Edge, she finds she cannot help but beam.

Occasionally, she feels another question threaten to bubble up out of her throat. Sometimes, she manages to tell it she’s asked too many questions already, but other times, it spills out anyway.

Are there other foals there?” is one of these questions, a few erratic paces spreading between it and the next, “and will they sing songs?” A small gasp of delight stills her movements for a moment, before she is giddily prancing alongside her dad again. “I love songs!

Her father, being her father, probably already knew this. She was already prone to singing random snippits of rhyme at the flowers as she learned their names in the Greenhouse, and had even gathered enough of them at one point to make up most of a song. She had been unable to remember it the next day, however.

It was quite unfortunate, mostly because she had rather enjoyed the song, and would have liked to have sang it at the Festival. She’d just have to invent a new one, she supposed, leading, of course, to yet another question. She only now had realized she knew almost nothing about the Basin at all.

What’s it like there?” she dreamily looks off into the distance as she paces alongside the copper medic, “I bet it's just beau'ful!

RE: Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Raeden - 09-06-2016

RAEDEN
but what is love without lust

Her cream hooves weaved in and out of the trees. Her pace was slow so she could make sure Gawen could keep up with her. Teal eyes looked to the growing boy lovingly, he was her pride and joy. Tin was always with the boy no matter what. He felt a strong connection to this boy for some odd reason. Her long tail kissed the foot steps the mare took as they got closer and closer to the shattered wall of glass. Silver flecks were duller than normal, the boy had not asked about his father yet... She dreaded the day she had to tell him about everything. The flawless body of the mare sparkled in the glimmers of light the peaked through the tree's. For just having a foal the specter was still a heart breaker. Feminine curves of her body were almost to gorgeous to resist. Raeden always moved with an un-flawed grace like she was being watched by spectating eyes at all time.

Her flawless hooves came to a halt and the specter looked to the woods around. Bright silver flecked orbs gleamed with the light of the sun. Her honey colored maw reached down to touch her little princes shoulder. His soft fur tickled her maw as she took a breath of his scent in. The striking pair complimented each other like mother and son should. Ears rose to the blue sky above to hear the deep voice of their king call that the Basin was having a festival very soon. A rich smile kissed her maw as she looked to the chocolate toned boy."Well it looks like we will be going to the Basin soon love." Her muzzle reached for his soft neck. "Maybe you can meet your Aunt..." her warm voice trailed off as a smiled dripped from her maw. Gawen was the only family she needed, she was a powerful mare that did not need a man... (or did she?)

RE: Invitation Only [Aurora Basin Festival Invitations] - Tembovu - 09-10-2016

His tired steps toward his grove of trees where he usually rested was halted at the sudden assault on his broad shoulder. Tired, navy eyes widened slightly, head twisting sharply to look down at the small body that had collide with him—so great was his exhaustion that he hadn’t moved out of the dark form’s way.

Zubari, his fourth born son, looked up at him with bright yellow eyes—those were surely from his mother. Tembovu knew of no such eye color in his own lines, and Ada’s lashed gaze was of the same piercing gold as his dark colt. Instinctively, his great head dropped to the small nubs on Zubari’s head, ensuring that there was no true harm that befell his son. Navy eyes probed his sitting form and, finding no obvious injury, met his golden eyes. A tired, lopsided smile crossed his dark lips at the rambling words, said so clearly for one so young. “We can try and find a blue feather for you tomorrow, Zubi,” his deep rumble, though hoarse with exhaustion, was warm, despite the wary gaze and actions of his son.

“Yes, you can come with me when I returned to the Basin,” he answered, eyes narrowing slightly at the resentful tone, “You will meet your half-sister and -brother.” The Elephant closely watched the dark colt for his reaction, uncertain as to how he would take such news. Though his close watch faltered, looking away from his quiet stare; children were more observant than most gave them credit for. They closely watched expressions, as they were learning expressions, so they often caught what adults missed in their hasty categorization of emotions. “I am fine, son. Only tired,” his low reply brushed away the darkly spotted colt’s well-placed concern.

Then, his head rose, turning in the direction of his resting place, “I was heading to rest. But if you’d like, we can walk together?” His rumbled offered in hope, wondering if his distant son would accompany him.
