we love the kindly wind and hail, the jolly thunderbolt, we watch in glee the fairy trail of ampere, watt, and volt
She didn't ask him for much, not in the sense of using him to help her with anything. To leave her alone, to shut up, to relax- sure she asked those things, but there was any substance to them, they weren't anything she wouldn't ask of anyone else that was around her. To ask him to do something for her, because she could not, and because he was the only one that could- now that was something. So when Ampere sent that mental plea to him that he watch the other challenge, the one that carried more weight for the herd, but less weight for her heart, Kygo was eager to oblige. Even after all these seasons of their embittered, wrapped up, coexistence, he only ever wanted to please her. There were moments of course where he derives pleasure from purposefully pushing her buttons, if only because it was some form of interaction, but he'd never leave her. He couldn't, she was his one and only flock, and for better or for worst he knew she cared about him and he her. It might seem odd, it certainly did to Ampere, that he would stick around after all her clear attempts at ridding herself of him. Part of it was fear of the unknown, as Ampere assumed, because at least he knew Ampere, at least he knew how to deal with her sharp edges and her rage and her isolation. Maybe it was better out there without her, but maybe it was worse too, and that unknown was scary. The other big part of it though was him holding onto hope that one day she would love him and accept him. He thought, if she just gave him a chance to prove his worth, if she would just let him in, just once, that he could earn it. He could rectify the weight of the bond that she shouldered as if it were the world, because he could make other aspects of her life easier. If she would just use him, then maybe she would recognize that he didn't mind being used, because this was a partnership after all and not just a forced farce of caring. When you have a friend, a true friend, you're supposed to help each other when you need it, because no one can take on the world alone. Thus, Kygo jumped at her need, and flapped as quick as his little green wings would carry him to a nearby cactus where Aithniel and Sikeax squared off. Beady eyes watched the beginning, snapshots of it and some verbal exchanges passing through the lines between his and Ampere's soul, as it did between Astraeus and Sohalia. This is Ampere's companion, Kygo, watching the fight :) Ampere theMother of Companions RE: I've started my own Armageddon [Aithniel x Sikeax challenge watching] - Najya - 11-14-2016 Najya Oh, the desert dreams of a river that will run down to the sea, like my heart longs for an ocean to wash down over me. The Throat had offered Najya both refuge and purpose - things that had escaped her before she had crossed the sea on wings of fire. So, in return, Najya was doing all she could - or at least all she had the capacity to do - to be useful. She’d collected both sagebrush and primrose. She had taken one of the large stalks of aloe she had harvested from the other coast and had planted it near a patch of cactus, hoping it could grow in similar soil. However, with the onset of Frostfall she knew that it was the wrong time of year to be cultivating a stockpile of herbs. That and she knew, deep down, that herbs would do nothing for anything more than a minor wound. She perhaps had the knowledge and the means with what she saw to alleviate minor aches and pains, to stave off infection, or to treat a small cough - but nothing more than that. She couldn’t remove infection, or stop bleeding, or heal a broken bone. With no healers in the herd, this worried her. What could she offer someone wounded? What could she do for an injured warrior? She turned her gaze away and stared out across the sea, hoping the waves would wash away her worries. But it was not to be, for in that moment, A’mal’s voice urgently trilled through their bond. “Fight,” she trilled, simply, spiraling down towards her bonded. Nerves passed freely between the little dragon and the flaxen mare as Najya immediately instructed the dragon to show her where the conflict had broken out. A’mal relayed the images, and Najya took some comfort in the fact that it was not outsider at the door, however she was concerned that there were potentially two herd mates that could be injured with no healer to help them. Najya immediately spun on her heel, making her way towards the chosen battleground, figuring that if she was at least present, maybe she could offer some assistance if it was needed… She stood on the far outskirts of the battleground, the Sultana and her challenger - who she recognized as Aithniel - a wide berth. Najya gnawed on her lip absentmindedly as she watched. Najya understood that this was the law of the desert, but still concern bubbled up hot and fierce in her gut. Overhead, A’mal circled, twisting and turning in the skies with Sohalia’s Astraeus and Ampere's Kygo for she hadn't yet realized that a second battle was unfolding not far from here...
