Something New [LEAD] - Myrrine - 11-25-2016 Myrrine She found the flowers before anything, and the way they smelled brought her back to the days where she was full of innocent love and where having worries was a foreign concept. When her lips brushed against the vibrant red her heart began to thrum for the thrill she had felt when Cerin had first placed them in her hair. Closing her eyes, she simply let the moment stay just for a little longer, because it was so much better than anything else she had to deal with right now. When hazel eyes opened they briefly filled with the salty brine of lost chances, and with rapidly blinking she pushed them away before they could finally push her over the edge. Now was not the time to be pining over the loss of a lover (lovers?). After taking one last loving look at the Indian Paintbrushes, she spread her wings and began to run, leaping effortlessly into the air just before she reached the water and gliding forward; aiming for the domed island awaiting her on the other side of the waters. She couldn't remember what suddenly brought her to the place she hadn't seen for years, but her heart was urging her onward, and whether it was because she was craving the feeling of nostalgia or just need a change of scenery; she was determined to make it further into the depths of the Throat today. With a gentle thud she slid slightly against the red sands, before delicately letting her wings close upon the top of her withers, slightly quivering in the rare breeze that approached the dry lands. She was silent as she stepped forward, eyes watching curiously, observing every detail she could, while still remaining stoic and perhaps defensive? She didn't know how easily the Throat welcomed strangers, and because of this she wanted to be sure that she didn't just waltz in as if it were nothing. She wouldn't be surprised if she had already crossed some boundary by actually landing on the island and not calling from the opposite side. Maybe it was because she had felt somewhat familiar with the outer edges of the desert because of her adventures with Cerin, or simply because she was gaining a new confidence. Yet as time wore on and it didn't look like a patrol would be coming soon, she gathered the courage to speak; those hazel eyes patiently awaiting for her voice to bring someone to her,"Hello! I would like to speak with someone please! If they have the time that is, I don't mean to be inconvenient with my visit!" She sounded almost pleading with her call, and it caused a funny feeling to twirl around in her stomach. It sat there briefly, her mind stewing over the sensation before deciding it was something not worth fretting over, and so with the patience she had gained from years of waiting for others to come to her, she watched the edges of the inner depths of the Throat, hoping someone would come sooner rather than later, because it was suddenly becoming very warm. "Talk." OOC: Myrrine would like to possibly join the Throat and become a healer? @Myrrine RE: Something New [LEAD] - Myrrine - 11-27-2016 Myrrine She was relieved to her someone's approach, but it quickly turned to minor worry as he didn't intend on slowing down any time soon. Perhaps he thought that she wanted to attack? Oh dear. That wouldn't do at all. Swallowing hard she watched as he finally came to a halt, looking poised for battle and ready to rip her little butterfly wings to shred. The thought made her suddenly very nauseous. Swallowing hard to she listened to his baritone his eyes inquisitive and lingering slightly longer on her delicate wings than anything else, causing her to momentarily smile. Even the wary always had a sense of curiosity. Taking a deep breath she dipped her head politely, offering the warmest smile she could muster,"Please apologize for my intrusion Sir. My name is Myrrine, and I was actually interested in well... possibly offering my medical expertise in exchange for a place to stay?" Gosh she hoped that hadn't come off as too forward. Looking around them, before returning to him as he introduced himself, she couldn't help but smile wider. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Sir Volterra, I certainly hope I didn't upset you too much with my arrival," she offered in response, bravely taking a step forward in order to offer her muzzle to his in friendly greeting. Should he accept her advances she would smile, before pulling back and letting her wings flutter beautiful upon her spotted back. After a pause, one that hopefully wasn't too awkward for either of them, she spoke again fluently in that polite banter she was so finely trained in,"I unfortunately don't have healing magic, but my mother taught me many things about herbs and what they're used for, so in a pinch I can easily assist in tending to others." She took a moment to let this sinking in, hoping that this was enticing enough for her to possibly be accepted entrance. She didn't know exactly what the Throat needed regarding roles, but she was willing to do anything. "Oh!" she spoke suddenly, as if she had forgotten to turn the oven off back at home, before looking to him nervously and trying to ignore the heat rising to her speckled cheeks,"I um, also do have a child. I'm still talking to her about whether she would prefer to remain where she is or come with me, but there is the possibility of her coming her as well. I-If there is anything else I need to do in order to ensure her stay I will happily oblige, we just need a safe place to sleep at night." She stopped there, realizing she was rather rambling, and she looked down while her hoof shyly scuffed the sands beneath them. She must look like an idiotic child, one who never put their toys away in the right place and couldn't keep the buttons on her shirt aligned properly. She coughed, finally looking up into those deep, intimidating crimson eyes before coughing awkwardly and finally continuing,"I-I certainly hope my rambling hasn't scared you off already. I do have an awful habit of going on and on after all." Soon she was giggling lightly, trying to shed the nervous energy that was radiating off her form in waves. She was trying, trying so hard to come off as normal and like nothing was wrong, but yet she couldn't help but want, no, need to be accepted here, to be welcomed, because if she couldn't gain the approval of even a herd, than what was she worth after all of that? Nothing, absolutely nothing. That thought by itself caused her to nearly break down then and there. pillangó = butterfly @Myrrine RE: Something New [LEAD] - Myrrine - 11-28-2016 Myrrine Her muscles began to relax as their conversation continued, his tone much different than his intimidating posture. Her hope only seems to grow with each passing minute when he mentions that the other healers would approve of her knowledge, and she couldn't help but feel the swell of slight pride at such an accomplishment. Perhaps she would fit well in here after all. Her eyes looked over his scar-riddled body patiently, curiously wondering where each battle wound had actually come from. He was obviously a warrior, from the way he stood to the cunning look in his eyes when had first approached her. It was if it was in his blood, and she couldn't help but hold some kind of admiration for him because of it. She wished she could feel so true to herself as he seemed to feel about himself. It was his next sentence that caused her to start, before giggling at his joke and shaking her head delicately,"Of course I wouldn't assume such things of you Sir. How silly of me. Forgive me for prying, but what you said; 'p...pehlawngoh?' Gosh I must be pronouncing that awfully, what does it mean?" She always had an intense curiosity for the unknown, for different languages and cultures of the land, and now that she discovered one of her potential herd members might actually know one; she was very eager to learn it. If he would teach her of course. Before she could really ask he was asking another question of his own, one that caused her smile to mildly falter against her speckled complexion. Should she explain everything? That she just couldn't bear to be back in the Edge because it held way too many memories and too many people knew just how awful of a parent she was? Surely she couldn't just admit that perhaps she had come here not only in search of some sense of belonging, but to perhaps give her a fresh start, a whole new chapter that gave her a chance to prove to herself and others that she wasn't really as bad as it looked. She could start now by showing this kind gentleman, who seemed to be her age mind you, just how kind and honest she could be. "Well," she began with a small amount of uncertainty, looking into those eyes of crimson hesitantly,"I won't lie to you Sir Volterra, I was previously a member of the Edge prior to becoming an outcast. I had lived there for a long time, but once I had little Laume well; I guess the best way to put it is that there are many things there that I would like to stay there. It's hard for me to go back to something that others... saw me as. I hope that's the best way to explain it." She watched him quietly, tail swishing patiently as she wondered just what he would say next to her, the mysterious butterfly mare that happened to grace the sands of the Throat suddenly out of nowhere. "To explain why I chose this place, that's another complicated tale in itself," she laughed sadly, looking back to the small patch of red flowers she had just been messing with earlier. Her eyes held a sad longing, before she returned her expression to him, filled with a sad smile,"A dear friend of mine used to live here. It was honestly the only other place I could think of as a safe haven. Goodness, I certainly hope I'm not coming off as crazy!" This time her laugh was filled with more mirth, her body stepping closer to his without thinking, because that was what she did when she felt more comfortable with others. As soon as she noticed tough, she paused, watching him cautiously before stepping back, face growing hot as she shyly looked to the sandy grounds once again,"I apologize for my rudeness. I was just growing comfortable and I suppose that I didn't even consider you might not approve. I hope I haven't made you feel any discomfort!" "Talk." the butterfly is proof that great darkness can create great beauty image @Volterra - sorry for the ramblings lol. Honestly the dialogue explains everything if you don't wanna read lol RE: Something New [LEAD] - Volterra - 11-30-2016
@Myrrine I've double checked in the DT chat whether Vol can accept her as a healer or just as a regular citizen, but I'll post in rank updates once I have an answer ^_^ RE: Something New [LEAD] - Myrrine - 11-30-2016 Myrrine He was so kind compared to others she had dealt with, and the fact that he wasn't prying was enough to make her nearly feel fully at ease with this larger stallion. As he explained the meaning of his special word she couldn't help but look at him with eyes of wonder, feeling almost flattered that he would call her something as beautiful as a butterfly. Until she realized what her wings reminded her of. She stopped abruptly in her thought process, before suddenly giggling as if she was finally getting the punch line of some joke. She should have seen something that obvious in the beginning, but she supposed they weren't something different anymore; they were just who she was. Or part of her anyway. She can't help but let her eyes widen and her face to flush as he breaks the distance between them, insisting that he in fact, was not uncomfortable with her. She looked up at him shyly, before finally offering her usual sweet smile; and without thinking she was pressing her muzzle to his shoulder blade as an offer of friendship. If everyone was as welcome as Volterra was, then she felt she would feel comfortable here in no time. She took a moment to feel the scars riddling his hide, watching them for a moment, before slowly walking with him as he began the official tour of the Dragon's Throat. Her new home. Her tail swished lazily against her hips as she looked at him, before finally finding the courage to speak,"I may have a way with words, but it is always actions that I am drawn to. I feel they say a lot more than what someone might think they're conveying with their flowery descriptions." She didn't at first see the irony in that, before laughing to herself at the thought, looking at the sands quietly and trying to find something other than the flat expanse. "It's certainly big," she continued, not once moving too far from his side; having found comfort in his sudden friendship. Myrrine never claimed to be a confident thing, and now that she was going into this new place nearly alone, she longed to cling to something that brought her some sense of security. Right now, that was the handsome brute known as Volterra, who had been kind enough to welcome her into his home and to even give her a nickname! She wondered if he would want one in return. Oh goodness, what on Earth would she call him? She couldn't think of anything that would suit him. But what if this was some sort of tradition that the Throat followed? Everyone had their own nickname that everyone called each other, and so she would be coming off as rude if she didn't call him something in return. Before she could panic any further she decided perhaps she should simply ask him, as silly as that thought sounded. Taking a deep mental breath, she looked up at him shyly, finally speaking as they kept walking,"So um, if you've given me a nickname... does that mean I should give you one too?" "Talk." the butterfly is proof that great darkness can create great beauty @Volterra - if you wanna wrap it up at her simply following him that's cool! I just couldn't resist lol. She likes him and wants to learn more about him! |
