sands of time keep falling - Amaris - 03-14-2017
It started out as most journeys do – carefree, optimistic, filled with excitement and an eagerness to get where we needed to go, to reach the destination, to realise the full sum of all the steps they would take together. It was with love on her lips that she farewelled her sun-striped cousin with an affectionate kiss upon her crimson cheek, as the golden dragonmare and dragonking sought to venture to the lands of dragons and horses and magic of old; a land only accessible to those with wings and a resistance to extreme temperatures, a land so foreign that it allowed the blending of this blood to happen for the first time (at least, the first time anyone could remember). It was her father’s homeland, where he and the golden dragonmare’s sister were currently residing. Amaris had been there before, during the time when she thought Helovia was lost to darkness and destruction. The dragonmare had much to tell them, not least of all the passing of her mother, the DragonHeart, the one who brought her into this world, who raised her and protected her and left a deep, gaping hole in her heart; but the news of Dramyrth’s hatching needs must be shared as well. His soul, so young, naïve, and full of life, helped to take the abysmal edge off the vacancy within Amaris – helped more than the dragonmare could truly know or define. Laughter came to her lips with greater ease, a song danced from her gullet more often than not, as Amaris saw the world through Dramyrth’s unique, youthful, innocent perspective. It was like being born again, learning everything there was to know about life again, only with a bondmate – he was simultaneously her brother, her son, her father, but also something more – it was difficult, impossible to define, and for that Amaris treasured it all the more.
So they travelled – the newborn dragon gaining fitness and flying technique swiftly, as they spent ninety percent of their time aloft on this journey, he was spared the choice most of the time. He grew obnoxiously fast, owing to his Royal legacy ( - at least that is not a surprise Amaris chuffed to herself - ). The dragonmare had promised her beloved cousin that this would be a short trip only – Helovia was her home, Tandavi was her home, she would not leave her again for any extended period of time – so the golden dragonmare pushed on, flying for both of them whenever necessary to keep the momentum of the travel underway. They arrived to the realm of dragons and fire and ancient magic. And they revelled in the fact that Dramyrth was the first golden male any of them had ever seen or remembered as far back as any of those currently living there could recall. A full day passed – Amaris had promised herself three days here before turning back towards Helovia – but as she spoke to her grandmother, a great, comparatively giant silver dragonell, everything changed. it started out normal: “Just as your father was the first to have both draconic and equine blood coursing through his veins of this time, perhaps he is not the first in all the times,” her ancient, soothing voice almost purred as it reverberated through Amaris’ very bones. “There were times when silver was not a known hue to adorn our scales – time changes things, if it did not, there would be no life, no growth, no purpose.” Amaris heard these words with a great deal of love and gratitude, and wanted nothing more than to respond and continue this discussion. Just as she turned to respond however - Dramyrth, who had been preening himself on a nearby tree branch, lurched precariously forward. Amaris’ golden eyes snapped to him, as alarm grew within her as the bond suddenly dimmed and weakened, and if she hadn’t of rushed forward with wings spread to catch him, he would have surely crumpled to the ground. The bond was in turmoil, it was something she couldn’t describe – he felt out of synchrony somehow, scrambled, frazzled. “You must go,” urged her grandmother, and Amaris nodded absently, barely uttering a farewell before departing, hurriedly. There was no doubt as to where she needed to go – only one place on this crazed earth could help her, she knew - Helovia. So she ran and flew and travelled as fast as she dared. Dramyrth stirred from his deep hibernation sometimes, but he was barely awake, barely present both in physical and mental arenas. He ate whatever Amaris hunted for him, if she persisted enough with stirring him from his strange slumber, but mostly he was entwined in her mane, and what was left of the bond seemed to help him balance as she flew and ran and raced across ocean and land below. Amaris moved with unending haste, with such an urgency that she barely recognised the Threshold of Helovia when she flew over it. Distracted as she was, she did not recognise the temperate climate she flew into – she had left Helovia in the throes of winter, and expected to return perhaps when the snow-melt had begun. But the lands were hot, and bare of all remnants of the frozen season, and as Amaris’ thick, wintry coat warmed beneath the Sun’s mighty rays, Amaris finally realised something was wrong. Somewhere over the Thistle Meadow however, she was distracted from the change in the lands by her bonded – rather, the bond that had been so suppressed all this time seemed to re-emerge with a startling vengeance, so much so that she landed and took a moment to catch her breath – only to have it stolen again as -- Riss, his voice, deeply melodic, hummed within her, vibrated through every fibre of her being. He spoke, and it was her soul who received the message, her true self. Riss, he hummed again, amusement blossoming as he read her reactions. Amaris stopped in the middle of the field, sunlight upon them both, as she felt him untangle himself from her mane and take flight. Joy, if a little startled and slow to show itself, swelled within her, as Amaris finally saw her bondmate rise to his full potential. She truly had not realised how fast he had grown, how much he had matured, even in his hibernation, he seemed to have doubled again in size. He was surely as large as Akaith had been (with a slight difference owing to his male gender - male dragons did not need the bulk and grander size about their torsos to incubate eggs, they needed sinew and muscle and agility), as grand as a gold ever could be. And then, suddenly he dived, and from his open maw spouted flames. The grass was dry in the heat, and like kindling it took to the flames swiftly. With a frown, Amaris moved to put it out with a sweep of her tail as Dramyrth smoothly pulled up from the dive – but with a halting thought from him, she paused, waiting curiously for his next move. And then a cold, frosty sensation rippled through her, as she felt his magic turn the other way. Ice, like nothing she had ever seen before, then doused the flames. Amaris was motionless for a time as she stared at the patch of now-wet-singed grass, mulling over the implications of this – of everything. Much time passed, she heard him say, though it originated in her own cranium at the same time. How much? Amaris spoke back, before voicing aloud; “We must go south, we must find Tandavi.” Fatigued and overly hot though her body was, the urgency to see her cousin again filled her, and she roused her wings to lift her golden-and-caramel bodice from the loamy ground and flew towards the great red-golden lands of sand. She almost considered flying straight over the strip of ocean that separated the Throat from the rest of Helovia – but without knowing just how much time had passed, and who might now own the lands her cousin had once ruled, she thought better of it, and landed instead upon the border where a multi-coloured bridge would ordinarily appear for those without wings. And so that is how the dragonmare came to be standing upon the border of the Dragon’s Throat, a soft, musically equine and draconic note upon the wind, having only left barely a month prior, but evidently time on the rest of Helovia – and her beloved Dramyrth – had passed far quicker. -- OOC: Open for anyone! But I would love for @Volterra and @Ampere to come if they have time :D Please don’t feel the need to match my post length x.x Been a long time, lots happened in this post, the rest will not be as long or rambly!! -- With Admin permission, I have submitted a Time God Magic from my prize list to effectively have it that Amaris left Helovia 1 month ago in her time, intending to only be away for that amount of time, but upon her return she has found Helovia almost 2 years into the future. Dramyrth could not be effected by the Time God Magic, so he has aged as if he never left Helovia (thus making him sick while he was so far away). So, there we have it! Amaris drákos istoría on deviantart RE: sands of time keep falling - Astarot - 03-14-2017 He was coming home form a trek north. He had taken Zafir there to see what the snow was like, well what was left of it. The stallion smiled as his dragon zoomed around above him. He could feel how much she enjoyed the ice and snow. Her magic was the winter wonderland and it had pleased her greatly. He smiled brightly at the blue dragoness as she screeched her glee. The second she had hatched his heart and soul had finally felt... whole. Who knew it only took a dragon for a boy to feel like he belonged, like he deserved to be in his family? He still had some catching up to do with his brother and father, but they were ready to take it all on. Zafir raced away for home knowing Astarot would catch up with her soon enough. Instead of charging after the blue streak and kept his easy pace relaxing as the sun heated his bone marked hide. A strange musical call sounded ahead and was followed by Zafir racing back to him. She screeched again and he felt the excitement racing through their bond. Throwing his bone marked body into the air he raced forward after his sapphire dragoness. A few minutes later he finally found what had Zafir all in a tizzy. A silver and gold mare stood at the edge of the Throat looking out over the ocean. His heart skipped a beat at her beauty and dragon like features. She had scales and dragon wings sprouting from her sides. He stared transfixed not only by her but by her golden drake. Zafir had eyes only for the king of dragons. A small jet of frost touched his back snapping him back to reality. A warm smile spread over his handsome features and his neck arched subconsciously as he strode closer. Zafir landed softly on his back scarlet eyes bright greedily watching the king. He would be a prize for any female, much less a lower class like herself, but stranger things had happened. His deep thunder voice rolled out softly, "Hello Miss. My name is Astraot and this is my lovely companion Zafir." He grinned nervously at her and dipped his head low. "We hail from the Throat, is there anything we can help you with?" His eyes roved to her golden king and he thought of his Apa's golden queen. Would they take to each other or would they fight for dominance? He knew how demanding Vadir could be, and he wondered if all royals were like that. If so they might have a nasty fight when they find each other. He turned his attention back to the dragon lady still smiling, hoping he could do something to help this rare beauty. He couldn't help but hope his dear Apa wouldn't come along and steal her away from him. Compared to him the young stag was nothing but a foolish colt wasting his time chasing mare's out of his league. Zafir dug her claws into her bonded's back; her way of saying man the fuck up. He felt the stab of pain, but it was nothing compared to the pain of losing to your old man. Blood welled beneath her claws on his large back as he tried to focus on the mare. --------------------------------------------------- Talk Words;; 554 OOC/Tags;; @Amaris RE: sands of time keep falling - Volterra - 03-14-2017 He's approaching in his horse form as his cerb form isn't on his records yet so can't technically use it xD @Amaris RE: sands of time keep falling - Amaris - 03-15-2017
As Amaris waited, she used the time to not only catch her breath physically, but also delve a bit deeper into the bond between her and her little dragon king - just over a month she had been bonded, but as her soul brushed his, she could sense that for him, it seemed longer. He had grown as if he had never left Helovia, both his body and his mind seemed to retain memories and evidence of a much longer time passing since their departure. The dragonmare felt a sadness, followed by a swift pang of fear - what if he continued to mature, and grow old, and die prematurely? A month old their bond may be, it was soulbinding to the point where she could not recall how it felt to not have his presence right there, with her, beside her, within her and surrounding her at all times, -- you worry too much, his sardonic purr rumbled through her cranium, causing one of her ears to fold and twist atop her gilded crown. Helovia my hatch-lands. My soul linked here, but also linked to you. You blood linked to bronze-dragon-father. Dramyrth's sheer confidence that his explanation was the reason for this curiosity helped Amaris some, but she was still enough of her own person to hold some shred of worry and doubt about it all (much to her bonded's silent amusement).
The first to approach her was also on the mainland, much to her surprise. The dragonmare turned her bodice to face the curiously marked dunskin, taking in his tall stature, his age. The markings upon him tugged on memories - had she not met one of Volterra's own son or daughter before she had bonded Dramyrth? Was this another of his skull-marked spawn? Amaris had hope that this was the case, for the youthful steed before her was on the cusp of stallionhood; he was tall and lanky with his youth, with the promise of more muscle and bulk still to come as he grew and embraced the heavy genes his father no doubt bestowed upon him. But how much time has passed? His presence at least confirms that Volterra was still alive within the last two or three years? she voiced the thought to her bonded, but Dramyrth was utterly distracted. He had not had the opportunity to interact with many other companion dragons, and so the young blue who accompanied the approaching steed captured his attention. A warm trill rumbled from his gullet, as he swooped and circled high above, keen to show off his fit, glittering physique. If only I could look as good, the dragonmare thought, though she did not begrudge her bonded his vanity - she simply still had a thick wintry coat upon her pelt in the height of TallSun, so her appearance was no more than shabby and unkempt, with sweat darkened almost every area she had fur, and it wasn't how she would normally present herself, and least of all draw attention to herself on the borders of a herdland. "Well met Astarot," her soft, musical voice purred with its draconic lilt, "and Zafir," she nodded to the blue as well, who seemed as interested in Dramyrth as Dramyrth was in showing off for her. "I am Amaris, and that is Dramyrth-" as she spoke his name, a jet of heat spouted high above them, followed closely by a stream of frosty snow. Amaris huffed a small sigh, but it was with amusement that her lips pulled into a playful smirk as she admired his antics (she was, after all, half dragon as well, and prone to getting easily distracted by shiny things). Then a great many things seemed to happen. A golden streak dashed across the skies, and said streak was not Dramyrth but -"Vadir!" Amaris exclaimed as she recognised the golden queen, but then everything turned to chaos as a battle of golden dominance immediately ensues. Dramyrth trumpeted in outrage as his body was seized by the queen and taken into a rough dive, but he gathered his senses swiftly enough, and made to so entwine his claws, tail and wings with Vadir that one of two things could happen - either they both crash to the ground, or they both relinquish their hold enough that they can each fly away unharmed. Dramyrth remembered Vadir from his hatch-day, and while he would very much like to dominate her, he is not so foolish to believe he would win such a fight right now - so he is seeking to prove himself her equal (after all, it takes two to tango, and he was certainly mature enough to feel those primal urges and meet Vadir's lustiest desires should he prove himself worthy to her). Fall together or fly together, his scattered thoughts trickled from his mind to Amaris', and she tore her gaze away from the clash of the golden ones to look upon the titanic brute who approached. It was easy to be distracted from her worry (about the dragons fighting somewhere in the background, about the whole time-dilemma she was in, about everything) with him, Volterra, the dragon-obsessed child she had met first in the darkest corners of the Deep Forest, so easy that she surreptitiously summoned a green dragon-soul from the magic of fire and light that dwelled within her to greet him as well. "Volterra," she purred happily, approaching him to bump her nose against his in warm greeting. "And Vérzés," she crooned, adopting a thicker draconic lilt to pronounce his name in the tongue her draconic ancestry would use. The green soul light fluttered around, greeting them all with a haunting song, before settling alongside Vérzés upon Volterra's broad back (should they permit it, if not, she would simply return to the otherland that Amaris' magic called her from before anyone could blink). As the golden king and queen did their own thing, Amaris allowed her attention to return to the (now verified) son of Volterra, as well as Volterra himself. "It's difficult to explain.. I left Helovia barely half a season ago -- it was winter -- to visit my father and his dragon-kin, to speak to them about Dramyrth and tell them about my mother.." even as she said it she knew it didn't sound believable, but the evidence was right there in front of them - Amaris was drenched in sweat due to the winter coat that clung stubbornly to her hide, she had not grown or aged the years that Volterra clearly had. But, how to explain why Dramyrth continued aging and not she? "Dramyrth fell into a strange hibernation, the bond between us became hazy - we just didn't seem to be in synchrony. I carried him back here, hoping returning to the lands would help him, or failing that, the gods might hold a solution." She threw a glance to where the golden royals carried on their battle. "I didn't realise how swiftly he had grown until I crossed the Threshold and felt the full force of the bond again." Her eyes, deep pools of molten gold, looked fiercely into Volterra's. "When I left, my cousin, Tandavi was Sultana here. I need to find her again. She was also known as the Fire Dancer," Amaris' sharp gaze pleaded with Volterra's and Astarot's, as the joy of seeing him again (alive!) was sapped by the anxiety and concern that arose from before. "How much time has passed, Volterra? How much have I missed?" Amaris drákos istoría on deviantart @Astarot @Volterra RE: sands of time keep falling - Astarot - 03-16-2017 The young stallion watched the mare as she turned her thick haired body towards him. Her scent didn't tell of the north, so why did she still have her winter fur on? He didn't ask, maybe she was naturally hairy. Like he cared, he could look past the hair and see her sleek build. He swallowed hard as Zafir trilled back to the golden. She wanted to take flight and join the golden king, but she held back to surprised by his friendliness to join in the fun. Her scarlet eyes tracked every move he made her heart hammering with a primal need to gain his approval. If she could get in with one gold she might be able to get in with Vadir as well, maybe. Astarot smiled at the mare his tail flicking his hocks his neck still slightly arched. He had never felt lust before and it confused him. It was like fire was pouring into his muscles and mind. Sure he had looked at mares before, enjoyed their curves and pretty features, but never had they stirred him up like this. Her voice was like siren's call to his young heart; even Zafir tore her scarlet gaze from the dragon to look at the dragonmare. She nodded her blue horned head back at the mare before her gaze changed back to the male. "It's a pleasure to meet both of you Miss." His own voice took on a deep purr like note, something he had picked up from Zafir. Zafir's eyes widened as fire shot from the golden's mouth followed by ice. She screeched her pleasure at his display and shot a small jet of frost from her own muzzle. She wasn't yet old enough to throw massive jets like he was able to do, but it would happen eventually. Astarot chuckled at the two as Zafir stood on his back bracing to take off and join him in the sky. Before she could get her wings all the way open Vadir flew out of nowhere. She screeched her anguish as the queen attack the king. She was all for dominance herself, but seriously?! Mist billowed from her nostrils as she watched the fight. She wanted to go to the king's defense, but she knew how badly that idea would turn out for her. Sulking she watched silently. Astarot on the other hand was startled that Amaris knew his father's golden queen. "You know her?" His voice was level as he tried to hide his aggravation. Of course his father would know this mare, she was a prize fight for a king. A green dragon burst to life as the dragonmare set eyes on his father. He fought to keep his emotions in check as he watched the mare step towards his father trying to bump noses. He catches the look his father passes his way, and he merely gives him a flat look smile slipping briefly from his face. He wouldn't fight his father for the mare, but he didn't have to know that. When the mare turned her attention back to them his smile reappeared as if it had never left. Ears tilted forward to catch her confused words. He had no reason not to believe her, but it still seemed odd. "Well,we've had some issues with time in Helovia too. Maybe you were caught in the after effects. The Gods brought lands from another world and the twisted gods of those lands slipped in with them, along with horse horse like creatures." He watched her watching his father and he wished she would turn that gaze to him. He could imagine what it would feel like, warming, stimulating. A slight shudder ran down his spine drawing Zafir's attention away from the battle for a moment. She ran a claw lightly down his spine tracing the path of the shudder and centering her bonded at the same time. His right ear flicked back towards her in thanks. He wished he could give her the whereabouts of her cousin, but he had no idea who she even was. He also had no idea how much time she had missed in Helovia but he knew his age, and he had never met her before so he assumed at least two years. He shifted he gaze to his massive father. "I wish I could help, but I don't have any information on your cousin." He turned his blue and red eyes back to her golden ones for a moment before glancing up to check the dragon fight before turning back. --------------------------------------------------- Talk Words;; 764 OOC/Tags;; @Amaris @Volterra RE: sands of time keep falling - Ampere - 03-18-2017

Oblivious as she was to the ways of hormones and testosterone, Amaris did not realise the tension she was causing between the stallions, though she appreciated their welcome. Astarot spoke of the God's throwing their power around (what else was new?) and that it might explain the disturbance to the bond, the illness that befell Dramyrth, everything. Amaris nodded, but was slightly dismayed when he had no further knowledge pertaining to Tandavi to offer. Volterra spoke up then, expanding on his son's words. Amaris listened, though her attention was split across to the dragon's struggle.
Fall together or fly together, Dramyrth, pleased with himself even if he was plummeting to the ever-nearing ground, growled in a brutish, satisfied manner as the queen he was embracing tightened her grip onto him. She grinned at him, and he puffed a breath of frosty air in her face in return, called her bluff, and folded his wings in close to his body to prepare for impact. The ground beneath was loamy, but turning sandy due to the closeness of the sea - it would not break bones, but it would bruise their bodies (and their prides) deeply enough. With a thump resonating through the ground, signifying their unceremonious reunion with the earth, Amaris did her best to absorb all that she was being told. Vaguely she was aware of the scrambling, the wrestling, the fight for equality and something more carnal. Had Amaris been paying a bit more attention to their squabble, she might have felt the highly strung emotions, feelings and deepest desires that were swelling from her little king, but she was numb to it - she was focussed on the implications of Volterra's words, as well as Ampere's arrival. A smile, genuine and light, danced across her lips. She remembered the General well enough - recalled their spar, the friendship she and Tandavi had. But Ampere's words initially brought her little comfort, for as the news of Gaucho's demise dawned upon her, the full realisation of how much time had passed settled upon her shoulders. But then she said something, not outright announcing it, but certainly implying it - Volterra and Ampere were the new leaders of the Throat! The dragonmare's eyes widen as she takes in the information, before she offers a small congratulatory grin to both Volterra and Ampere - it was well deserved, she was sure, but she could not focus for too long on it right now - Just as she thought Ampere was to announce that she bore witness to Tandavi's death as well, the dragonmare heard with relief that her cousin was likely within the misty clutches of the World's Edge. "Thank you, for the information and the warning - words cannot describe my appreciation to meet familiar - and kind - faces. I'm so sorry I was not present to help during those tough times," she said earnestly, honestly, hoping that they would understand, that they would forgive her. "The Throat will survive, it has been given the best chances given the devastating circumstances." Here, she offered another smile, one that she hoped conveyed her genuine pride and happiness for her friends. "I cannot stay, though I will heed your advice. I must find Tandavi, so I will travel to the Edge." She nodded as her words confirmed the decision that had been made the moment she heard an inkling of where her cousin might be. "We will see each other again, sooner than last time, gods willing!" With a bump to each of the noses of those present, including the young dunskin, she turned sharply on her heels and began immediately on the journey north-west. Of course, the dragon king and queen were still battling. Amaris, part dragon herself, rumbled a call on her way past - Dramyrth huffed hotly and released the little queen - for his beloved bonded, his dragonmare, would always be his true queen. He would always heed her call, pride in the face of Vadir or not - he abandoned the battle without so much as a second thought, and accompanied his bonded on her hurried journey to locate her cousin once more.
