Electric [quest] - Tembovu - 06-03-2017 Tembovu the Elephant
Large, ebony hooves plodded through the deep sand of the dunes—they seemed to stretch on forever. Finally, though, his heavy steps reached the wet, hard-packed sand where he did not sink to his fetlocks in warm, gritty granules. His ears swiveled forward, listening in solitude to the crash of the sea for a few moments, before they swiveled back to listen for Mbwene’s approach. Though her broad feet were good for sandy surfaces, her short limbs were not, so it took her much longer to cross the dunes than her bonded.Still, with a continual low grumble heard through their bond, she approached the ocean behind Tembovu. However, rather than aid him, she hung back and watched. She seemed to do this a lot lately—closely scrutinizing her big Elephant. Mostly because there was this continual undercurrent of sadness in their bond. Certainly the small matriarch had experienced the broad spectrum of her companion’s emotions thus far—he was far from a stoic stallion. But this was different. Lately, there was happiness, joy, irritation, restlessness—all the normal emotions of the man (perhaps less stress since his abdication, though). But, beneath it all, there was this quiet, low drone of despair. Mbwene couldn’t shake it. And it worried her. So, she watched as the Elephant’s muzzle dropped to the seas. “Spark weed…spark weed…spark weed,” he mumbled to himself, low voice carrying over the waves despite him being the solitary creature along the shore. The massive stallion somewhat knew what spark weed looked like (he had ruled alongside a Moon Doctor); but, originating in a land-locked grassland meant he wasn’t familiar with ‘seaweed.’ Though his time in the Edge had certainly taught him of its smell. His black nostrils flared as he shuffled through the shallow waters, tucked behind a rocky headlands so that the sea wasn’t quite as churned by the waves. His muzzle reached out, thick lips (perhaps unwisely) grabbing random plants (or fish) that meandered into his path. “ARgh!” a surprised trumpet bellowed well above the crash of the sea as the spark weed in question revealed how it had gotten its name. His great head flew up, ears pinned tightly to his skull as his nose wiggled furiously—equal parts numb and painful from the weed’s nasty shock. Mbwene, who normally would be chortling in amusement at her bonded’s misfortune, stood worriedly on the beach watching. This amount of anger and misery that flowed through their bond was disproportionate to the small injury he had just received. Her trunk twined anxiously as she watched. Something was not right with the Elephant. @Roskuld to join him? :D Part of his quest! Searching for: Spark weed - A yellow-green seaweed that grows close to the shore along the beach, the small skinny blades trailing in the waves. As they rub against each other, small yellow sparks are given off that usually dissipate harmlessly into the water. If touched, however, they can deliver a shock similar to that of a jellyfish. It is wise to avoid them when wading out into the ocean. RE: Electric [quest] - Agnodice - 06-06-2017 Code:
RE: Electric [quest] - Tembovu - 06-10-2017 Tembovu the Elephant
The Elephant’s ears and head jerked towards the sound of a reptilian keen—Mbwene trumpeted back, and though not entirely understanding dragon speak, there was nothing threatening about the swooping (and not receding) movement of the small, black dragon. Its size implied that it was a companion, and that further abated any worry either Mbwene or Tembovu may have that a hungry, wild, large flighted lizard may be hunting along the beach. (Not that the Elephant would be an easy lunch to carry away, but his small elephant companion was another story—and entirely too far from him to be easily protected). But all these fears were unnecessary, as shortly after the black dragon’s appearance was a pale mare with striking face markings—ones that he remembered from many seasons past. However, her name escaped him in the face of the still sparking spark weed that zapping his thick hide from its tangle around his massive horn. Mbwene trundled forward, her trunk outstretched as she, too, wished to help her bonded in anyway the mare directed. She chuffed softly, motioning towards the basket the dragon precariously balanced on the mare’s back—she could hold that if the dragon needed to aid his companion. The giant stallion’s eyes swept from Mbwene, to dragon, to the flowers continually blooming in the woman’s silky black tresses as he calmed the tense muscles in his body and blinks repeated towards his helper. A rueful grin crossed his face, “I’d appreciate your help, healer.” His low rumble was equal parts irritated, amused, and pained. As an afterthought, he tacked on, “But save the spark weed, if you can please.” He certainly didn’t want to lose the plant after going through so much to obtain it. His eyes squinted at the plant that was tangled around his horn, sending intermittent jolts through his skull. @Agnodice yay! It's been so long since they've threaded! |
