Sorry, but how is it that Illynx takes only 7.5HP of damage when the attack was 14HP, and Confutatis took 10 HP not 10.5HP?

Illynx takes 7.5 HP of damage.
ATTACK: 9 + 5 = 14
14 is the attack number used to look at how strong the attack was against the defense. Hence 14 > Illuynx's defense of 9.5. Because the attack number is greater, the attack lands.
The 20 die is rolled to increase the chance of an attack hitting, since most 6 die rolls would leave your attack at the same level or lower than defense. It has nothing to do with the power of the attack.
DAMAGE: 2 + 5.5 = 7.5
7.5 is how much HP is lost. It is the number used to determine how damaging the attack itself was.
The 6 die is rolled because just a few numbers can heavily impact HP since this does calculate the power of the strike.
Attack: 1d20 rolled for a total of: 3 (3) + 7.5 (character's attack stat)
Damage: 1d6 rolled for a total of: 6 (6) + 4 (character's damage stat)
10.5 > Confutatis' defense of 8, so the attack hits.
Confutatis takes 10 HP of damage.
ATTACK: 3 + 7.5 = 10.5
This attack number is greater than Confu's defense number, so it hits.
DAMAGE: 6 + 4 = 10
This damage number shows that 10 HP is lost.
Although Confu has a greater base damage stat (5.5) than Illynx (4), Illyn rolled a greater number (6) than Confu did (2)

No problem, this could probably be re-formatted a bit to be more clear, since at first it confused me too and I still have to be very careful when doing stat rolls to make sure I'm plugging things in right!
