The wind howled, the thunder roared and the world was lit up every so often by streaks of lightening, splitting the sky in two like a knife. Thick droplets of rain launched themselves from the miserable clouds like tiny bullet, pelting whatever foliage they could reach and soaking Narcissa through to her skin. Silver and grey locks plastered themselves against her muscular body; drip, drip, dripping down her neck and shoulders as they traced their way through the roan fur to fall swiftly to the sodden ground. Mud and burrs had matted themselves into the thick feathering that dressed her hooves, dirtying the grey to a dark brown. Other than the odd disdainful flick of her large hooves the large mare paid her state no mind; thick shoulders hunched over and neck lowered as she ploughed forward against the wind.

Darkness had descended hours ago, a moonless sky cloaked in storm clouds covering Helovia as midnight loomed. Periodically the sky light up brightly with each flash of lightening but otherwise shadows coated the forest. All that could be seen of Narcissa with her grey coat was the brilliant blue eyes; that was until the sky was pierced with yet another strike of yellow light, revealing the maiden in all her moody glory. A snarl twisted her lips, anger in her eyes, as strong pillars pushed the surprising shapely body forward. Narcissa was not in a good mood.

It had only been an hour since the roan femme had entered the forest, swallowed by trees reaching for the sky and branches clawing at tall frame, and already she was lost. Not a good thing. Narcissa had always prided herself on her sense of direction, her survival instinct and yet here she was a lost as a little filly that stray too far from its mother. Oh that thought hurt. Memories of her own mother swirled to the forefront of her mind; the argument they had before she left as fresh as though it had been just yesterday. This did not help her mood. Emitting a low growl from between bared tear the large hooves began to pound the earth as the mare shifted into a canter, leaves and twigs vibrating with the sheer strength of her movements. Never one to hide, Narcissa cared little about who might cross her- more fool them. However despite her size and muscle weight the sound of her cantering could barely be heard about the howling wind and torrents of rain that sought to drown everything beneath the pitch black sky. Oh what a wonderful day this had turned out to be. She thought darkly, and it would only get worse if she just happened to cross paths with another.
