oh, I see stars rushing through my mind
colours have no time to fade
But then there was another worry - if Vesper was reminded of what she had left behind here, even without her mother there, would she leave Mesec? And if Ki’irha was back, Mesec certainly wouldn’t blame either of the twins for not wanting to stay with him any longer.
Lyra promptly scoffed at these thought and whacked Mesec with her paw as if to reprimand him for it. The kitsune pup thought very highly of his daughter and did not seem to appreciate anything close to being a suggestion that she wasn’t the perfect angel Lyra knew her to be.
Said pup, while growing, was still small enough to sit atop of Mesec’s head, one half in front of his ears and the other half behind. It had become a favourite place for her - as it was as high as she could get without having wings of her own. Lucius had elected to stay behind this trip, staying where he could check up on Vesper now and then.
So it was that Mesec approached the Basin with a troubled mind - but when had a trip to this place ever been anything but troubled?
He hoped, at least, that he might see a friendly or familiar face. It was mid-afternoon by the time they arrived at the Basin’s borders where Mesec paused though this far north it looked much later in the day already. The sunlight was turning golden with the promise of an early sunset and the chill in the air whispered promises of snow before long.
Though he was sure he’d be spotted before long, Mesec released a friendly call to any in the area - alerting them to his presence.
