Whisper
Long lost words whisper slowly to me
Still can't find what keeps me here

The voices. They were speaking to her once again. Like the sound of the wind rushing through the trees. Soft and cold and low voices they were. They told her to push on and keep on moving. They told her to find her next victim and to slit its throat with the horn that she had been blessed with. If only these voices could reveal themselves. Her eyes were wide and her ears were pushed back onto her skull as she listened to the voices. She wanted so badly to tell them that she did not want to keep walking. But, wouldn’t that be just disrespect? For all she knew, these were the Gods speaking to her, right? The Gods were directing her! It made her feel so honored for the God’s to be guiding her throughout her life.

Her pink orbs gazed at the land that lay in front of her. She kept treading through the woods. The cool winds crawling up her spine and the grass and leaves brush against her hooves and legs. Nimbus clouds rolled through the sky, coving the sun and giving the day a dull hue. Thunder rumbled in the distance. She closed her eyes with delight as the booming sound echoed across the forest. How lovely. The Gods were singing. A wicked smile slithered onto her maw. That twisted smile. You might think you know what a twisted smile was, but never have you ever seen one like this. The way her lips curled into that ‘friendly’ grin was just not right. It was a smile of a demon. A grin that would make your blood curl and your eyes wince.

The smile soon faded as she heard the voices once again speaking to her. ‘Go home. Home.’ They were now saying. Home? Whisper did not have a home. ‘Home. Go home!’ They kept repeating themselves. What the hell did they mean? “Shut up! What is this ‘home’ you speak of? There is NO home!” Anger was now bubbling in her veins. How she wished they had not said anything about home. Home was nothing but a memory to her now. It was just a horrible memory.

The wind whispered through the trees with the promise of rain later on in the day. It whippped up the white stallions light red tinged mane, blowing fiercly like the aniticpation of a dog striking a ferocious bite. Sighing sadly, he remembered his ridicule with the new mare named Brisa. How...how could there be another Brisa that resembled his previous beloved so much. His heart pounded harder with pain and twisted agony. That damn grief.

Gritting his teeth, he forgot to remind himself that he is a warrior. I was a general! There is no time to be an emotional filly! A little bit of arrogance seeped into his mind every so often, differential from his normal calm stance. As much as he missed his old Brisa, he also felt stinging anger. She left him! Sighing once more, he continued walking in search for love or a least a friend that would mend his wounds.

The low growl of thunder rumbled in the distance, and the white male knew the downpour was racing closer and closer. Suddenly a feminine voice yelled out. Smiling, he approached slowly seeing a pink orbed femme, standing in the clearing yelling out into the howling wind.

"Are you sure there is no home?" Offering kindly, he knew there was something off about this fae. Her maw was twisted into a grimace and her eyes seemed...unstable. Shaking off his discomfort, he still swished his tail and spoke once more. "Hello, I am Arrane from the Windtossed Foothills. Who must you be?" Questioning kindly, he kept his distance just incase she poroved to be dangerous.

Something was different in the air when she woke, her golden crown gleaming as she slipped out of the gateway of the Basin and out into the world. Always a favorite task of hers, the Threshold beckoned to her with it's opportunities gleaming in the dreary, cloud scattered atmosphere, the failed war slipping the golden bitch into a state of power-mongering more rampant than ever. What better way to gain strength than to gather soldiers oneself? The crackling sky drew her gaze upwards before she slipped into the heathen darkness of the forest of entry, thankful for the hundredth time that her mountain was placed so wondrously close to this place. Truly, the only herd that meant one would be walking a long way home was the Dragon's Throat, and it was most gleeful to think of the weary travelers faces when they discovered they'd walked for so many long days to arrive at a desert.

Not so with the Basin; while the path to her snow peaked castle was long and arduous, it willingly gave it's rewards to those who could make the journey. She didn't live in a dust bowl, and for that, she was exceptionally proud.

The sound of voices whispered through the boughs, the Lady slipping between black trunks as leaves billowed all about her lithe frame while stalking the sound, spinning off with the sound of scratching nails as the wind ripped them from their places of resting. Curious ears were raised into alert, golden gaze scanning the dim light of the wood for the one who spoke, until at last, she set her orbs upon the source of the sound.

A unicorn, she supposed, and had she ever seen a rhino, perhaps that was what she'd have related this one too. With no knowledge of African giants, however, she was left to observe the faint glimmer of some sort of horn upon the grey mare's nose. The horse was who had spoken, however, the mare letting her gaze slip upon his unwhole form with a curling lip of distaste. He spoke of the Foothills, and so with much self restraint she slid her grimace away behind fake smiles and cheer, his frame offensive but much less so than the hound beast she had encountered from the same herd. What was his name? Osis? Osirus? No, Osiris, at least she thought that must be it. Either way, she was sure that if the wolf or this stallion (any of his herd, truly) had shown his face at their invasions, she wouldn't have to be here, scrounging up pieces of a broken army. Her distaste for the band of mercenaries gave her sweet smile an almost creepy sheen, tongue in cheek to swallow her ire that she wished to lash out at the white and red stallion with.

Truly, though, it was not his fault. She couldn't be sure if he had been present or not, divided as their forces has been and, without a sun, the mists of the Edge had kept the faces of her fellow invaders a guarded secret, and so she was left only to grasp at fraying cords that once held her picturesque world in place.

The smile led the way, the shimmering mynx slipping from the cover of the trees and into the rather small clearing that the two had gathered in. "Greetings," she cheerfully quipped, her eyes landing upon the scar riddled grey woman, a feeling of unease settling into her stomach as she latched her golden eyes onto the faded pink of the stranger. Something was off, something was terribly, grotesquely wrong with that stare, her alert ears falling to the side in her momentary discomfort. Shrugging it off as best as she could, the Lady cleared her throat and attempted to pick up where the sinister gaze had broken her flow. "I am the Lady Illynx of the Aurora Basin," proudly crooned the mynx, nodding her head in turn from the grey mare to the white stallion from their loosely bound allies before turning to the north, searching for the steady peaks above the treeline and finding it cloaked by branches, "to the north. Unfortunately, one cannot see it from this deep into the forest." The wind rippled violently through the small clearing, sending leaves and pine needles skittering across the earth in waves of rustling noise, the first few drops of rain leaking in from above as a massive boom ruptured the static imbued sky.

if I only could make a deal with God.
