Die Sonne scheint mir aus den Händen, Kann verbrennen kann euch blenden
He has abandoned her. The obsidian minx had fled Helovia many months ago, when the lands were absorbed by an eternal night, the only way she could keep Him with her. When the light returned to her old home, so did she, but still there is no sign of her Heavenly Father. The disappointment is evident in her tense features, movements tighter than usual, leonine tail flicking behind her in exasperation. Cloven hooves carry her forward in a short-paced trot in the bright hotness of midday, light glistening in her black satin hide as emerald globes are diverted to the skies. At least He is there, his mild face shining down upon her, revitalizing her figure with his gentle summer's caress. The heat does not seem to bother her, rather loosen up her tensions as she strides forward, slowing to a stroll as she comes across the borders to His kingdom once more.

Her mind wanders to those she met during her last stay, wondering if any of them are still present. Viserys probably is not; if there was ever any justice in the world, he would've gone and gotten himself killed by now. The thought makes her smirk. He is without a doubt the most useless creature and the most inflated ego she has ever met, all in one. Well, maybe with the exception of Mauja. A bitter snarl momentarily graces her exotic features, painting her quite grim as she thinks of her first journey through the Threshold. Back then, he had approached her, but in the end assaulted her and left her defenseless and bleeding in his wake. And no such deed goes unpunished. Her revenge had been grand, the scheme of it still makes shivers run through her body whenever her mind replays that glorious flame. She had indeed burned his home down, with the encouragement of her Heavenly Father. And on top of the vengeance she had been further rewarded with the gift of fire, breathed into her body by the Lord of Flame himself. Now, when she glances around at the bristle grass, it is tempting to once again let her feelings of fervour spill over, see the orange flame dance across the land. But she holds back - this is not the time, nor place.

Slender, inverted lobes perk forward curiously as she halts upon a small hill, amber-flecked gaze scouting the figures that move before her. Keahi enjoys having a clean slate, starting over, something that is so rarely an opportunity. And yet it is not like her earthly relations has ever meant much to her. The smirk grows to a smile, and she stands still, crania raised high with her thin tresses whipping furiously around her in a playful breeze. She's back.

The endlessly happy girl pranced into the Threshold, enjoying the sun's rays as they fell down upon her back. She was proud of herself, having reached the promotion she had been aiming for for so long. She wasn't entirely sure yet what she was going to do with the powers she had been granted, and the magic flowing through her veins beckoned her to create, but she did not yet know what to make, and so she made nothing. Thinking gave the mare headaches of the worst kind- the kind that were self-inflicted because she was too stupid to sort through her own thoughts. Try as she may (though to be perfectly honest she didn't try all that often), thinking was just not for the painted girl. Perhaps someday far in the future. For now, she was happy to live her life as an adult child.

As the sun beat down on her, warming her skin and making her coat glisten with the beginnings of sweat, the mare slowed to a walk. It never did anyone good to come into a new situation looking their worst. First impressions were incredibly important, after all. Or so the mare figured it. As she meandered through the woods, she began to think again, long and hard, about what she wanted to accomplish with the power afforded to her by her newly gained position. She wanted to do something bit, something extravagant. After all, how else was she going to get her name out and known in the world? She tried and tried, but the thought did not come to her. It would. Eventually.

As she moved, though the woods, she noticed a mare standing upon a hill and seemingly surveying the crowd. Kahlua found the action odd, only because she couldn't imagine standing above everyone and looking down. Despite the fact that she had been seeking and gained power, she only desired metaphorically to look down upon everyone else. To literally stand above them and look down was an entirely different matter. The social girl needed company like she needed air. So, deciding that this (admittedly ungainly looking) mare could not possibly be happy all by herself on top of the hill, Kahlua mounted the thing and let a perfectly elegant smile cross her lips. A few shakes of her mane to settle it in just the right spot and Kahlua was coming upon the mare. “I'm Kahlua of the World's Edge, my friend. What are you looking for?” She also wasn't one to beat around the bush. And so she stood, smiling happily but stupidly towards this mare, waiting expectantly for a response.

Keahi's sleek leonine tail flicked across her hocks lazily, the heat of summer penetrating every pore of her body, pulling a smile upon velvet kissers. Her solitude was treasured; now and then, she enjoyed watching the mortals and their social games. Keahi played that game better than anyone, but she soon got bored with the company of the earthly. She did not concern herself with politics, did not desire responsibilities to her fellow strivers, and herd life had never been for her. How could she keep a clear vision of His ambition, if she was constantly restricted by the agenda of a simple group of earthborns? Social hierarchy was a pathetic waste of time. Hopefully, one day they would all see the bigger picture.

Therefore, it was with some skepticism that she saw a youthful piebald headed in her direction. The wench lowered her nape and squinted slightly at the other, assessing her like a cat would a mouse, the smile on the lips growing slightly wicked. It was obvious to her why she would be approached; this was a place of the homeless, of the rogues and newcomers, all hoping to fit in somewhere, to be protected from themselves and others. The only protection Keahi ever sought was that of the Lord of Light; no earthly being could strike fear into her any longer. A lesser being may have been envious of this young minx' striking beauty, especially if one had an 'unlucky disposition', as some would say was the case with Keahi. But the tigress held no such pitiful jealousy, the only affection that mattered to her was the one that shone on her from the Heavens. And besides, she had the art of seduction running hot in her veins.

The bright smile that the femme flashed towards her when she climbed the hill caused no change in the black vixen's expression. Her amber-flecked green eyes rested on the bi-colored mare, watching her coolly. It was obvious that this stranger tried to make an impression on her, tried to influence the way she might think of her, but it didn't stick. Keahi cut right through their charades with her sharp wits, or so she'd like to think. But this might prove entertaining after all. Might as well pass time with a bit of mind games. "I am baffled. We are but strangers, and yet you assume that we shall be acquainted. But child, you are no friend of mine," she spoke, words spilling like liquid silk from her maw, an exotic richness in their expression. Keahi let her gaze run swiftly over the other, like she held little interest in her. "Something in my disposition has caused you to think I would be searching. I can only wonder as to what part; my delightful position upon this isolated hill or my complete satisfaction with being on my own…" She watched the other, her expression neutral even if her words held value of hostility. There was no anger in her, however - she was simply stating facts.

Kahlua watched the black mare hopefully. The look she found upon Keahi's face was not one of encouragement, but the painted mare made a frequent habit of not understanding looks and glances. She usually needed things spelled out a little bit more for her. Looking over her latest companion, Kahlua did find that the other was lacking in the looks department. For a moment, she felt a familiar smugness settle into her bones. She was both beautiful and Glazier. This mare before her was... unfortunate (to give her a compliment) and just a lowly newcomer to the land. She could only expect to be loved and rewarded for her greatness. Therefore, it was with great surprise that she took in the words of Keahi.

I am baffled, the other began, bashing Kahlua's childish joy with a sledgehammer of darkness, and Kahlua found that her smile began to fade slowly. The more the mare went on, the more Kahlua was disappointed with the response she was getting. You are no friend of mine, Keahi claimed, and Kahlua could not help but pout her lip in a childish sort of response. Who wouldn't want to be friends with her? As the mare finished, Kahlua had to give herself some time to think about the words. It was not because she was searching for an answer, but rather because she was trying to figure out exactly what the ebony ice queen was saying. The twisted way she spoke was difficult for Kahlua to understand, at best.

“I just...” she began stupidly, then trailed off, her ears flickering in discontent. As she looked down from the hill back into the forest below she did not feel any kind of enjoyment. She felt distant from others and lonely. She couldn't figure out how any other horse would want to feel like this. It was so.... separate. Looking back to Keahi, she tried again. “Why do you want to be on your own?” She decided on this only because she couldn't figure out what to say, and also because she was confused. After all, if you don't know something what harm is there in asking. Perhaps, the silly mare may even learn something yet. “What can I call you?” She added suddenly at the end, almost as an afterthought.

There are few things as enjoyable in life as watching someone's smugness die a slow and painful death, squirming feebly in the dust and then perishing. That sensation was what Keahi felt in just that moment, when she saw the self-satisfied grin slip off of the pretty girl's face. Beauty is admirable, but if you do not have the brains to back it up, it's only ever going to get you in trouble. If Keahi could read Kahlua's mind, how the piebald was thinking her powerless, harmless - she would have laughed. Keahi was anything but and Kahlua might soon find that out on her own. As the piebald's smile slowly faded, the one on Keahi's mug grew exponentially. She sensed that the femme was a little slow, the way the silence stretched between the two of them, as if she was struggling to come up with an answer. It was fascinating, really, how two such opposites just happened to cross each others' paths.

There seemed to be a response, but then a change of heart. Keahi did not expect this young thing to understand any of the reasonings that would lie behind her choice of action, and so she wondered if she should really waste her breath on explaining this to Kahlua when she was asked to. "Solitude is peace, freedom of mind and soul. It is power, to only surround yourself with those deemed worthy, those who can aid you and bring you closer to the Lord of Light," Keahi spoke, softly as a whisper but clear as a knife cutting through the finest silk. She did not need others to try and cloud her judgement, contaminate her vision of the Lord. She did not crave to be liked or to fit in - for she knew that He would love her for being His most faithful servant.

And then, another question, the question that always amused her and annoyed her at the same time. She tilted her crania slightly to one side, swishing her tail and looking at the girl for a moment. She was always reluctant to share this critical bit of information with anyone, in fact the only one in Helovia that knew was the God of the Sun himself. "Call me whatever you wish, child. Knowing my name will do you no good," she replied, setting forward to move past the piebald, steering away from the figures that could be seen at the foot of the hill. As she always had, Keahi would be a rogue, tending to her own needs and wishes before anything else. She was not concerned with whether or not the other thought her rude for leaving without a farewell; it was not like she had requested her company in the first place.

Solitude is peace, freedom of mind and soul. It is power, the dark mare claimed, continuing on with sentiments that Kahlua did not, but was trying to understand. She did not exactly agree with the idea of only surrounding yourself with those deemed worthy. She did, however, understand the idea of being around those who could aid you in a quest. But the lord of the light was not her patron or calling. She loved him for the sun he had brought with his return, the light that kept the monsters at bay, but the lady of the moon was her true love. Slowly, she lowered her nose to her chest and touched the plum colored stone that hung there as she thought of her goddess.

The ungainly mare's claim that Kahlua did not need to know her name was surprising to Kahlua. She had never held much stock in names and she thought it was odd that anyone would. After all, what was a name but another word. She didn't have time to make this observation to the black mare. Before she had even finished processing her thoughts, Keahi was moving away from her down the hill. For a second she stared, then she called off after because she felt compelled to. “Good luck!” The call was almost a question. For a while longer she stood atop the hill, trying to understand what Keahi had said about only surrounding yourself with those who were worthy. Kahlua only felt distant and separated. When she felt she could stand it no longer, she descended the hill and entered the realm of mortals once again, feeling happier and safer for it.
