A bear there was, a bear, a bear!
All black and brown and covered in hair!
Onward it lumbered through the trees, a great furry mass augmented with sharp teeth and jagged claws. It was massive, the bear, a towering, fearsome creature sure to instill fear into the hearts of those unfortunate enough to look upon it. Its eyes glowed a deep crimson; its fangs dripped with the blood of its enemies; and when it spoke, it spoke with an ominous, rumbling voice not unlike a long, low growl of thunder.
But this terrifying appearance may not be enough to keep the flies away, for he knows that they will want what he carries. Indeed, the most peculiar aspect of this bear was not his imposing presence; no, it was the small, bronze-colored satchel that it carried strapped haphazardly around its back, cradling something to its chest. He could not keep the bundle - this much he knew - for he was not the one to raise such a babe. He was not the one destined to be its future.
And so, for now, he would put aside his ravenous inclinations and his tendency to view anything that moved as food. For now, he would be at peace with the inhabitants of this land.

It had been the voluminous scent of iron upon the air that first had alerted him to the creature wandering about the meadow followed by the heavy footsteps into the crisp dying grass. His immediate thought was for the safety of anyone else who happened to be around the meadow on a day such as this with the remnants of warmth still breaking through the clouds. Surely anyone with enough sense would flee from the bear or at least give a wide enough distance between them, wouldn't they? If this were true then why exactly did he find himself walking towards the creature?
If he hadn't met the mare Ktulu maybe he would have decided to go the other way, but he was curious to see if the bear might be that of the bonded bear of Ktulu. Their brief conversation had been interesting to say the least but he still wondered how their companionship came to be when they evolved from completely different worlds. One born to the earth while the other taught how to hunt and destroy, not exactly the pair one would expect but then again there was that saying opposites attract. Lowering his head in caution as his footfalls came closer he stopped a few feet from the beast curious as to what it clutched precariously in the golden satchel. There was a strange sense of energy emitted from the bear that did not frighten the stallion or indicate anything was to be feared. This creature came in peace, not to spill more blood of their kin. Raising his head so the imposing point of his horn no longer confronted the bear he gazed upon it with curious silver orbs.
Though it was not the bear he had originally thought he decided it would be rude to not speak and just stare as it approached, it was another living being after all with emotion and life and definitely one he did not want to get on its bad side. "Good day, may I ask if there is something you seek? It appears you are on a mission of some sort, maybe I could help." He offered softly greeting the bear with a respectable nod as he spoke.

The bear stops, a low grumble rising in its throat; though it is not a growl, it is certainly an awe-inspiring noise. Still, something is lacking in his eyes, and you do not find him particularly threatening. A gentle breeze brushes through the trees, twining in your mane and ruffling the bear's fur. He takes a breath, and lets it out in a deep sigh, and in that moment you feel that all the fight has gone out of him, as though a long-carried burden has been released. "You cannot help me, unicorn," he informs you with a shake of his great head. "For I am too late, you see."
He shifts, and you can see the package that he had been carrying more clearly. It is dull and boring, but you can swear that it had held something that emitted light. Perhaps he sees the confusion in your eyes, for he sighs again, a big tragic breath, and explains: "The gift has left now; perhaps it has found a happier place to land..." He falls silent, crimson gaze drifting along the distant treeline. "But here: your kindness is appreciated, unicorn. You have my thanks." And with that, he draws yet another breath, this time holding it and letting it go in a massive exhale that turned into a white mist. Suddenly, a playful spirit-cub is cavorting around your legs. "Until the end of orangemoon, you will not be alone." And then the bear is gone, leaving you with only a memory and a spirit.
Unfortunately, there were no eligible entrants for this drop. Therefore, no winner has been selected.
However, Ciceron has been awarded a temporary spirit bear! This gift takes the form of a small bear cub that may follow him around until the end of Orangemoon. This bear cannot fight in spars or challenges, however it may be interacted with in normal threads.
