Resplendence
come and watch over me like the pale moonlight

The tiny mare shuffled her feet. Each of her hooves moving in gentle rhythmic plops as she ran into a lazy canter toward the meadow. Time to her self sounded appealing, but it seemed that she wouldn't be the one to get it - not today at least.

The night air was shining and comforting, the way that the star seemed to radiate a gentle path toward the Thistle Meadow, and it was that which she had followed. But, apparently, she was not the only one who had followed the light toward the tree. A million horses (or so it seemed) were circling the tree, looking at it as if something amazing was going on.

Cautiously, she slid forward, attempting to slide between different horses, feeling her pelt press up against other's. "Sorry, sorry." she whispered each time she accidentally bumped someone harder than she had meant to. And then, she got close enough that she could see the base of the tree - not just the burning phoenix situated at the top of it. It was beautiful, the way that the animals were draping the tree in beads of silver and gold. And, not only that, but they were decorating it with pine cones and painted objects.

And, then, her eyes really took a look around. They fell upon the masses, seeing the many Edge members - those she called family without truly knowing them. And she saw the one who scared her. She would recognize him anywhere. His black coat and the bronze marking on his shoulder - the one who had killed Rowan before her eyes. Instantaneously she scuffled backwards, crawling in closer to those Edge members and farther away from that unicorn. She lay eyes on Torleik, gave him a small nod, as well as a few other nods to somewhat familiar faces and then she focused her attention back on the tree and the animals that were decorating it with such joy.

For some reason, she felt safe at this tree - even if she knew the one who had caused her friend's death was near her too...

When I'm ready to fall
You're the one always holding me up
With love

It seemed like no time at all had passed since the stallion was within this very same meadow when he had first arrived. Each and every land he had been fortunate enough to discover was special and beautiful in its own way. Anyone could see what it was that attracted others to this place, with the vast expanse of open meadow it allowed for ample grazing should one be in need, it suited for large gatherings if something arose that called for the leaders of the herds to come together, and many more purposes he could not even begin to list. In the summer the blooms of the thistles cast a touch of colour to the greenery giving new life to the meadow, in the fall was no different with the changing of the trees to bright yellows, reds and oranges it was something one had to see to believe.

On this day he strode forward but with renewed energy as this was the first time he had company to show some of sights to. The small spirit cub, Merou sat perched on his hindquarters gazing around at the passing scenery. The cub was only with him for a limited time so he was trying to make the most of it while it lasted. In the short time they had been together he had grown very fond of the cubs company and would miss him greatly when it came time to say goodbye. All of his trials for a companion had failed him thus far so when Merou had been gifted to him for the season it was a joyous occasion.

Others had spoken of some occurance within the meadow earlier that evening so being the curious creature he was they had decided to investigate the claim. He had not been expecting to see the giant tree decorated so magnificently with brilliant objects strung from each branch catching what light there was from the moon overhead. The Phoenix that perched upon the tree was equally stunning and immediately drew a crowd to see what was going on. Lifting his silver orbs to the bird he too gazed in wonder just taking in everything the scene had to offer.

This very meadow had drawn the white fae multiple times in the past since her arrival granting her much in return for her ventures. It was within these fields she had first come to realize that this would be her home, not the meadow but the land itself. No more would she need to run away from everyone and everything, here she had found a friend or two too make things at least bearable again. Ever since she was young things had not been kind to the filly beating her down at every turn, for once in her life she was developing a sense of normality and it was all thanks to the many inhabitants of this land and for the land itself.

The massive emerald tree rose up before her drawing her like a beacon to its base as it had with many others around her. She felt no desire for the usual panic that still surfaced when it came to being around others, it was like the tree created a false sense of security to all those it drew. The large bird upon its peak gazed upon each and everyone of the visitors with speculation but remained silent. Never before had she seen something so breathtaking, the beads woven around the trees branches, the ornaments hanging upon the trees tips, just everything about this was beautiful. Reaching out with her velvety muzzle she gently nudged one of the decorations in admiration watching how the light shone brightly as it caught each angle of the object. This was going to be one memory that would be with her forever, it was perfect in every way.

What in the world?

She thinks to herself. She is venturing again, as usual, and for whatever reason it is this meadow again. Perhaps its flowers are much like she is; a deep and beautiful color, vibrant and inviting until you dare to get too close. The season has left them dry and brittle, and they rupture like small violet bombs as her sides brush against them with too much force, or her knees knock them aside.

Ahead of her, there is a fire bird perched upon the highest bough of a tree, and she has followed a stream of wildlife from the thickets and forests into the meadow where they gather about this creature. Drawing close enough to actually see the thing, she takes note of the myriad baubles that gleam in its branches, the small animals skittering up its length to add additional things to its splendor.

There are many others here, she notes when she finally stops looking at the tree.

It seems that the foot of the thing is lined with gifts, which she finds quite alluring; drawing closer, she gazes harder at it, stretching the sixth sense that children born in realms of magic are taught to have. It hums. It is more alive than any other tree she has ever encountered.

How interesting, she thinks to herself, continuing to quietly admire the beauty of the whole picture.

That it is an image of many different things working as one escapes her. Such things always do.

Dragomir has gone wandering south, despite his reservations to leave the borders of his home after the… incident in the Secret Grove. Something has drawn him out though, some alluring flicker of spirit that said there was wonder out there this evening, if only he could find it.

Taking note of the singular star in the sky, he followed its path and was soon joined by several deer and a fox. Gazing at them oddly as they darted by, he increased his speed to maintain stride with the small, dog like creature, its russet coat a delightful shade in the deep darkness of this particular night. He wishes, as he runs alongside it, that he can ask where it is that it is going; down what path are they leading him?

Perhaps they are running.

He does not think so. The animals did not seem frightened, and their pace was not that of fear. It was more like they were excited about something – but what?

He noticed it as soon as he came into the clearing, a tall, solitary tree which held a gleaming star on its highest branch. He was sure it wasn’t actually a star – it would be burning that tree into ashes, surely. As he drew closer, he was amazed to find that it was a phoenix, and that he was by no means alone.

There were dozens of horses here, wearing horns, wings, scales, mutations… he finds himself feeling faint in the crowd, forcing himself to remain along the outskirts as he collects himself. Taking deep breaths, the stag stares down at his hooves and counts slowly, raising his eyes to look upon the tree.

Only the tree. Everyone else just can’t be there if he is going to be able to witness whatever they are here to watch.

Walking forward, he finds a place in the throng of those gathered to watch the animals at their work, admiring the prettiness of the thing. No one he knows is here – at least that he can see through the bustle of the clearing – but he doesn’t look very hard.

Something tells him that magic is about to happen.

m i d a s
BEYOND HERE LIES NOTHING
There wasn’t words to explain it, but somehow I knew that tonight was special somehow, there was strong, old magic lingering in the Orangemoon air. I couldn’t sit idly by this eve, or even fathom the idea of sleeping beneath the great branches of yon magnolia tree. These evening hours stirred my blood and awakened a powerful desire for fun and flight. Fina was in an especially good mood, she sang beautifully—humming a song that sprang from roots fashioned long ago. An ancient tone of ancestors and magic. A time when the world was still young, and elements were wild in their infant state.

The evening mist clung to my muzzle, clouding breath with each cool exhale. I smiled at the star which illuminated heaven above-the cold darkness seemed appealing enough to beckon us from our resting place and into the skies for a midnight gallop. We raced on, playing sky tag and other childish games that foals used to occupy idle hours. Indeed it was hard to not feel alive and youthful on a night like this. The whole of Helovia seemed to sigh in sweet release, not an ounce of anger, regret. We could simply be.

Our journey led us out of Dragon's Throat with no destination particularly in mind. Thistle Meadow came into view; wheat fields abloom before the first frost. While flying overhead an unusual tree caught my eye. It was grand, tall and proud. Standing like a lone sentinel over the valley. Full limbs are decorated with various trinkets and shiny things—and at the top was something even more extraordinary. A phoenix. Fina chirps happily, singing to the flaming bird with gleeful delight. Something glimmered below, calling....

Various creatures had gathered, would their be room for me to explore this strange wonder?

Many gather in the meadows, he sees them streaming from all around, some in pairs and others wandering alone. Some have companions accompanying them; flying, perched upon shoulder, spine, or rump, or traversing the ground as equals. It's impossible to stifle his curiosity, wondering why they're all heading towards one place. They're from all around, different races, species, breeds...all smelling differently as he soars low in the sky. Basin snow and winter pine, Throat desert flowers and sunlight, Edge rain and moss, Foothills maple and sap. It was a strange mixture, not necessarily an unpleasant one, but seeing mortal enemies all gathering beneath a magnificent tree? It wasn't something Kaj had expected in the least. But his curiosity can't be withheld, he so desperately wants to know what force exists that could possibly draw together such odd, incompatible souls.

Tilting his wings he easily touches down on the dying grass, head cocked to the side, intrigued, as his stride comes easily from the smooth departure from the heavens. He becomes part of the throng, hide brushing against those he'd never met, and he feels as if he is part of something much larger. Much grander than he. And as he walks with these nameless travelers, he gazes upon the tree and feels his skin shiver with delight and mystery. What is it? Is it magical? Temporary, or permanent?

He stands before it and kneels down, comfortably sitting among these other fellows, a duck brooding in downy feathers and soft grasses. Kaj doesn't mind staying, even after this delightful thing is revealed to him. he has time, and nowhere else to be for a while. Maybe it would do him some good to just...sit and contemplate life.

ALYSANNE.
Paint with all the colours of the wind
Alysanne was wandering on her own, this day – she does not seem to be on her own very much lately so she cannot say that she did not like it. She rather enjoyed the company of her friends, new and old, but every once in a while it was rather wonderful to explore Helovia on her own. There was so much she had yet to experience – little did she know just how much – and she found herself returning to the meadow where she had met a delightful little winged filly not all that long ago, in the heat of summer.

Before long, the day passes into evening and a bright star appears in the sky – a single star burning so brightly she can hardly.

And then suddenly she is not alone. There are animals all around her, moving towards the star and she follows them – feeling the excitement in the air. Before long she sees that they are not moving towards the star – it was simply a guide. There is a tree, a tree that she had not noticed before. Or perhaps she had noticed it (she tried to take notice of every tree and plant and creature) but tonight it was decorated so beautifully!

A warm sensation pools through her, those emerald eyes lighting up with a smile as she moves closer – standing with those that had gathered. Peace seemed to be on the mind of all those that were there. And how could she blame them. “Oh you are beautiful, aren’t you?” She whispered to the tree, dressed so wonderfully in silver and gold.

Now she wished she had asked Miykael to join her now, and she wondered where Sasha might be. Someone she loved, certainly, needed to be here with her to see this magnificent sight. Perhaps she would have time before the night was over to go and fetch someone but for now she merely stood entranced, so in love with the sight before her and the feelings of happiness and peace she was experiencing.

Especially now, faced with the decision that she was (to leave? and when?) a moment of peace was so very welcome!

With the Meadow so close to the borders of her wooded home, it was hard not to notice all the commotion and traveling going on. It disgruntled her that so many were leaving the borders unprotected to go gallivanting off with a throng of others towards the pull of curiosity and magic. Was it even safe? She'd seen just what the Gods could do, the power they harnessed. Well damn, she even held that killing power in the spirit of her own body, ready to be pulled upon and used for malicious purposes. Held in her palms the ability to heal wounds that normally would take a life. How could she not know the power of the celestials? She'd used it to kill, to steal a young child from the wilds out of revenge, had used it to heal her brethren time and again.

But she had also received such gifts from those immortal governors. What if there was more to be received?

Groaning she pressed her black muzzle to Aodaun's fuzzy head in a goodbye kiss and quietly ordered him to remain at the borders while she went to investigate. Lakota didn't want the land unprotected while she was gone, while so many of the warriors, in fact, were gone. Sighing, she kicked her legs forward into a smooth canter, weaving through the gaping throngs with ease, brushing past them like they were nonexistent. She only slowed her pace when the massive tree appeared, and she eyed it uneasily with violet orbs, inky aurals shifting in discomfort. Was it safe? She didn't want to go through some sort of trial, only to have never said goodbye to Ao. To never be able to say she loved him in person.

power loves not the light of day

She wanders still, the deposed Empress, having yet to find a home. The cold north no longer appeals to her as it once did, though she carries the winter coat still. The southern lands are far too warm for her tastes, and so she goes back and forth, too close to home in some areas and too far away in others. All the while, she wonders where she belongs.

In the Thistle Meadow, she finds a small crowd. Where she might once have deemed them all unworthy of her presence, she finds herself mingling easily, if silently, with them now. Her broken horn pays tribute to all that she once was and all that she has lost, and she steps almost daintily around small groups of equines, unicorns, and pegasi alike. There is something in the meadow that is supremely peaceful, and she sighs softly, content for the first time in weeks.

The sight before her is one of beauty; a tall tree, wrapped in silver and gold and positively glowing with good cheer stands amidst the gathered. A star shines brightly from its tip, and the Empress sighs again as the spirit woven into her banner dances happily. She can almost imagine that it jingles as it waves brightly in the wind, tied to her but still wanting to greet what is surely its deity. She is alone in the crowd, but somehow she has made peace with the loneliness; after a time watching the festivities, she turns to leave, loathing to interrupt the gathering and its merriment.

megaera</style>
wake me up when it's all over
when i'm wiser and i'm older</style>

Megaera came upon the meadow quite unexpectedly, since entering the land of Helovia at the threshold; she had not been north of her new home at Dragon’s Throat. She was warming up to the idea of living in a heard, and all those she had net there had welcomed her so warmly that she was keen on staying but she was young still and still had a bit of a restless heart. She’d decided to go exploring before winter set into the land, though she’d been warned against venturing to close to the other herd’s territories.

She wandered north from her desert home and seen the vast pit known as Helovia’s Heart and, so suddenly it seems, had come across this thistle covered expanse. Even in the dim of the autumn night, Megaera could see the little patches of purple dotting the fields, and they reminded her of the tough little flowers that had braved the tundra for a few short weeks in high summer every year.

Already enchanted by the peaceful place, the young mare was positively transfixed by the sight of the great tree. In it’ branches sat a great phoenix, the gold and silver that strung about the nighty tree’s trunk catching it’s light and shimmering in the darkness. Eager to investigate, the mare took flight, crossing the distance and landing more gracefully that usual near the tree’s base. There were others all around her but the brilliant sight seemed to set them all at ease with one another, and Meg, who was rarely so relaxed, was happy to see them all receive the gifts that lay a strewn about the ground at the tree’s base. She’d seen magic in this land, but this left all the other wonders far behind.

There is a certain time of year that fills everyone with peace and happiness, and I am no different. As I soar easily through the skies, I feel that I have come to terms with my mistakes and the wrongs that I have suffered in my short life. And it has indeed been short - I am, after all, but six years old, and I will live, I hope, into my twenties, or even thirties, if I am remarkably lucky. There is plenty of time for me still. I hope that I have begun to give back to my family by building their wall - my wall - and offering a form of protection to them. It will be fantastic, when it is completed, all steel and fire and harsh beauty. It will be wondrous. And it is mine.

Pride fills me as I think of my creation - and then I see it. I see the tree. My flight begins to slow and I descend, my wings flared ever to slightly to cause the drop; I land in an easy trot, shaking out my wings and settling them against my sides. My mane and tail fall into windswept heaps, somehow graceful despite the disarray. I stop on the outside of the gathered horses, looking in awe at the scene before me. I can see why it has drawn such a crowd. It is light, and silver, and gold, and fun, and good cheer, and oh, it is so very lovely! I have never seen anything quite like this!

I find myself entranced, and as the minutes tick by, I am content to bask in the warm glow of the star. I am happy to find myself amongst friends, however temporary the peace may be. For now, we are all happy. For now, we are all friends. And that is enough for me.

There is something behind the throne
Quilyan
greater than the king himself.
He lands in a flurry of gold and white, and he is immediately in awe of the spectacle before him. The prince had followed his princess, you see, and upon losing her in the crowd, he had panicked. He had seen what had encompassed the Marsh, after all, and he felt better for being able to keep an eye on his Lady. Not to mention the giant, gleaming tree that had caught his attention and beckoned him closer. And so now he stands on the edge of the Meadow, taking in the sight before him. Never has he seen so many gathered in one place, not even at herd meetings, and for a moment the realization sets his mind reeling. It takes a gentle, mental nudge from Zarina to get him going again.

He snorts and, eying the tree warily, begins to push his way through the crowd. He is not impolite, but he is insistent, and soon he catches sight of his beloved as she, too, is jostled by the many bodies surrounding the tree. With her in sight and no danger to be seen, he turns his attention to the tree. Even he, who has seen many wonders in his life, is impressed. The tree rivals anything he saw in his homeland, and that is saying something indeed, seeing as he was a crown prince. He has seen expensive, and ornate, and elegant, and this tree embodies all of those things and more. The most interesting thing is that so many can gather around it without the threat of a fight. Perhaps that little tidbit would be worth something one day.

As he mused about his surroundings, he worked his way steadily closer and closer to Resplendence. He reaches out with a nicker to announce his presence, not wishing to startle her, and tries to brush her shoulder with his muzzle. Something about the feeling in the air makes him want to be close to her. She is, after all, the closest thing to family he has now. Perhaps one day they would continue their lines. The thought brings a smile to his face, and he stands in silence and peace.

Rhanna despised magic. Or at least, she tried to. She’d been surrounded by it since she’d been born, but had never been able to have any for herself So she’d wandered for year, over hill and through forest and here is where she found herself. Helovia, it was called apparently, and the farther she went into it, the more magic she encountered, so she kept moving through, maybe it would ebb…

She was not looking to meet anyone else, per say, but though isolation had its advantages, the giantess was beginning to feel that she could do with the entertainment that others invariably provided. Rhanna wondered what fort of creatures would she find in this unfamiliar land. If she was lucky, there’d be only equines here; those horned goat and winged skyrats were so unnatural, thought themselves so far above the rest. Rhanna couldn’t abide by magic, or at least that is what she had convinced herself to believe over the years.

Plodding her way through the open meadow, the giantess came upon the strange sight. The great tree stood shining into the darkness, and around its base was gathered a mass of bodies. There was definitely something….magical, about this place. At first, Rhanna wanted to turn straight around and walk the other direction but in another moment her curiosity got the best of her. There had to be something interesting, why else would so many be gathered? Not wanting the be left out of the action, the black mare approached the crowd. The all seemed to be receiving gifts, from the tree? Despite herself, the mare’s heart softened as she gazed up at the shining light. Well, it is beautiful… no use denying that.

OOC: I think I've missed this (damn family all day Christmas day) but I'm not sure because timezones xD

Ever curious, the sight of something odd was bound to draw the girl like a jackdaw to a shiny trinket. She followed the mass migration of all things hooved towards this one particular tree, and her blue eyes widened like baubles at the sight of it. Oh, it was beautiful, and everybody clamoured around its roots like children at...well, Christmas. Nyx herself hung back, not wanting to press through the mass throng to see the gifts at the base - those who waited got the best stuff, right? Unwilling to barge or shove, the silver woman lingered, watching with hawklike eyes as the others swarmed around the tree like maggots on a carcass.

Finally she could contain herself no longer, and trotted through a space to the base of the tree. There was something hauntingly magical about this place, and Nyx felt a shudder of repressed glee run down her spine. She looked up to the phoenix on top, noting the flaming glory of the creature. "Ooh," she cooed, oggling it. Feeling like she was intruding, she took a few steps back and away from the crowd of other equines, still lost in the beauty of the tree and its feathered star. Perhaps she would get something, as others seemed to - or perhaps she would get a giant sack of dung, who knew. Likely the latter, given her luck, but beggars really couldn't afford to be choosers.
