The Kingdom of New Rheven

history erased by the minds of many...

Rheven was not always known as New Rheven, in fact the massive Kingdom began as a small village with a growing advancement in architecture. The village was filled with all species, not one left out in the cold. Everyone was warm, their hearts large. Denying someone into your residence was said to be bad luck, and many would often be cursed with poor crops for that month if they did not allow someone to share a meal or offer a warm bed. It was a sweet little town that thrived with its massive trade system and was widely known for its architecture. Rarely ever were there wars between Rheven and another kingdom, nor were there many battles within the kingdom itself.

The rankings in Rheven's earlier system were lost, forgotten by the residents. They say there was once an entire chart that showed all the ranks that had ever been, but was sadly burned during the horrible incident. However, ranks of New Rheven are still known today.

The evolving architecture of Rheven & New Rheven. In the earlier ages, during the time of Rheven, buildings were made out of simple stone. Slowly but surely glass, metals and in some cases sand were included into the crafting of buildings in New Rheven.

TO BE ADDED

we pray to deities unseen, for seasons to be...

One of the few things that hasn't changed all throughout the eras of Rheven and New Rheven are the Gods they pray to, the animals that hunt them, and the seasons they fear and love. They have two categories for which they placed their Gods. The Major Gods, the deities in the God's Council, were the more important, well known Gods. They are the creators of everything that is. The Minors are just side liners, or, bench warmers if you wish. They are lesser known, and not as important as the other Gods. There is one God that fits no category that few have ever seen, and that is Omnipotens, believed to be the God who carries upon his back the entire universe, and he knows everything that is to be known. In his mind he is able to completely take apart an atom by merely gazing upon it.

COUNCIL OF THE GODS

Terra, Goddess of soil, land and all earthly matters. She is the Head of the Council, and can silence the entire Council with a simple stomp of her hoof. She is said to be the most stubborn of the Gods, for her words or opinions will not change towards another.

Features:
The mare is a steel grey, the color of a stone. Her body is is blanketed in a layer of leopard-snow, white as its is named for. Her mane and tail are frosted and black, tints of rust at the ends. She keeps a rack of elk antlers upon her brow, decorated with vines, moss, leaves and other assorted plant life. Her body is bulky stacked with solid muscle, making her appear twice as scary. Her eyes are a pale grey tinted mossy green during spring, but her eyes will change with each change of the season.

THEY WHO RULE

Omnipotens, ruler and father to all, brother to Death. He is considered to be everywhere at every time, to tie the Cords of Fate to a mortal and allow Fatum to do the rest, and to guide the souls deserving enough to the After, and deny those undeserving to his brother.

Features:
He is there, yet not. Invisible yet visible, never before seen by the mortal eye yet everywhere in the mortal gaze. He is the universe, yet His own being, all mighty yet weak as a mortal. He is wisest of all, the only known being to know the Truth. His pelt is said to be palest white yet the darkest black, reflecting the skies of many planets, the stars of a thousand galaxies. It is said that when a God gazes into His endless eyes, they crumble to dust, their very being ceasing to exist. With simply complex thoughts, He rules all with an iron fist. In fact, it is unknown if He is actually a male, or if He holds both sexes.

It is said that He enters the form of a willing soul, taking possession while the planets are aligned in that galaxy. However, it is very rare that the mortal's mind will be able to comprehend all that they see while Omnipotens is in their body, meaning when he leaves they will be left deceased, but will find ranks as a \god or goddess as a part of Omnipoten's High Council, which is the greatest honor one can hold.

BEASTS THAT HUNT

The most common of the beasts that roam are the Dragons, the Gryphons, and the Phoenixes. They are of the many creatures that lurk through the land. But they aren't the same as the creatures that lurk in Helovia, that follow a bonded equine and are orderly. They are wild, untame beasts that threatened Rheven and now threaten New Rheven.

Dragons are the most feared of the many beasts that roam the lands. They come in four different sub species. The first is that which burrows beneath the ground, or sticks above the ground and lives camouflaged as a mountain. Those that sleep beneath the ground are often decorated with solid patches of rock along their rough skin, and because they rarely see the light they often lash out upon rays upon their skin. The other earthlings are those that grow moss, stones, and trees upon their backs. They are large enough to be mistaken as hills or as oddly shaped mountains.

Gryphons can be the same size as the equine residents of New Rheven, although there have said to be smaller forms. There are three Gryphon flocks known, Canis, Cattus, and Domitor. The Canis flock is a flock of Gryphons which are large dog sized, and have avian and canine attributes. They are found mostly in the moist, wooded areas and some snowy places. The Cattus flock is a flock with beastly big cat sized members, and have avian and feline attributes. Their sizes can range from house cat to tiger or lion sized, sometimes larger. They are found in more of a jungle area, although some lurk around the homes of equine residents. Depending on the cat species, they can also be found in the plains or the snowy hills. The Domitor flock is a flock of Gryphons that are tame, and will often strike conversation with residents of New Rheven. They are of any species mixed with avian features, all different and unique. The Domitor flock speaks Latin and Latin only, although said to know the Speak of Omni*.

* = The Speak of Omni, also known as Omni's Tongue, Talk of Omni. An ancient language most beings are said to know, it is just many have forgotten the language they were first taught. Said to be the 'Father of All Languages', other languages branching out form this one. Latin is one of the direct descendants of Speak of Omni, thus why many Rheven/New Rheven animals know Latin.

CYCLES OF TIME

New Rheven's time system is different method of telling time. They have the seasons.

Anuuim, the season of harvest and fading colours. During Anuuim, on the day .37, a festival known as Devil's Passing occurs, in which everyone is in costume, placing goods at the Devil's shrine and giving him prayers. It is told that if one does not offer a prayer and a gift they will be taken by the Reaper and eternally damned, tortured by Death itself.

Winterius, season of frost. In Winterius there are several important days, there is always a ball held by the king and queen, held in the ballroom where only those of royal rankings are invited, as well as those of neighbouring kingdoms. The ball lasts typically 3 days, and there is always lots of song, dance and celebration. Another Winterius tradition is the Giving, in which neighbours exchange gifts with one another and children are rewarded for good behaviour. In the city's center there is always a large tree grown by the Goddess of Earth herself. During the night of day .89, many celebrate the coming of Springhelm with song and dance in the city's core, drinking, dancing, sharing songs and stories during their celebration for the melting of the frost.

Springhelm is the season of song birds and hued flowers. There is but one celebration during this time, in which all gather round for song and dance, celebrating the season of love and fertility. During this 7 day celebration many foals are conceived, thus why many children in New Rheven share the same birthing days.
