Riekahn knew what he must do in order to raise the dead in a strong
army to aid him in his future conquest, but for now, he would settle
with dealing with the Sun morons in the Dragon's Throat. The bright
sun bore down on his black hide as he traveled through the grassless
deserts, and he was desperate for water when an oasis appeared before
him, lush with grass. Crimson eyes burned, and he hurried to the edge,
taking a drink of the cold liquid, and as he drank, he glanced up,
spying the tree he would have to puncture. It was nothing special, he
thought. Still, it was rather large and oddly shaped and in the middle
of a desert. Okay, it was a little special.

The stallion knew the inhabitants here worshipped the sun, so he
exhaled a breath of flame and set his body on fire, immune to the heat
and burning of his own flames. Powerfully and steadily, the wicked
stallion climbed up to see the tree, crimson eyes dancing with desire.
He tucked his chin to his chest and pierced the flesh of the bark with
a gnarled and twisted point of his thorny horn, and he felt hot, red
sap spread over the burnished ebony. Perhaps he was damning himself in
their eyes, but he did not care.

He was on fire. What could they do? Their precious Sun God could not
help them now. Riekahn, sap on his horn, turned and looked to see who
was there now. Would they attack? Bring it on. He had fought much more
before.

“What do you think you are doing?” the painted girl calls toward the
unicorn standing before the tree, his barbed horn covered in the blood
of the great tree.

She had come to live in this place quite by accident, finding the
inhabitants few, but friendly. Upon her arrival to the strange desert
land, a power of healing had been given to her - a gift from the new
gods. Since then, the Pegasus mare had become quite accustomed to her
new home, though according to Azzuen, the band of Pegasus were still
plotting to overrun a herdland. Whatever the case, she would be loyal
to her true family, but that didn’t mean she could let stranger come
into her new home and stab the sacred icons of the land.

With narrowed blue eyes, the tobiano faced the black unicorn stallion,
who was aglow with fire. From what she had gathered while living
amongst the people here, she was expected to worship the Sun God.
Being from a different land entirely, Onni wasn’t sure exactly what a
sun god was or how to worship him, but she smiled politely and tried
to stay out of trouble. Now, however, she could not remain quite as an
intruder barged into the land, desecrating the area for no apparent
reason; whether she would be chided later for her actions or not was
of no concern.

She stepped closer to the tree, unfurling her wings, preparing for a
chase should the fiend chose to run like a coward. Otherwise, Onni was
fairly certain they could talk this out. “You cannot just waltz into
occupied territory and stab their trees, sir. It never ends well.” The
ridiculousness of her words were lost on the serious look on the
tobiano’s face.

Riekahn turned from the tree and saw a spotted pegasus in front of
him. So... dismally ordinary. What a waste of genetics. The mare
unfurled her feathered wings, perhaps in defense or perhaps in
preparation of him running, and he snorted a cloud of black smoke in
amused irritation. What was she going to do? Chase him down? With
what? Wings? Pah. He had killed more of her kind that he could
honestly remember. The faces blur after a while and become just
another forgotten memory.

Her expression was serious, but her words made him laugh. "I saw no
one here to stop me," he growled in his deep, monstrous tones. "And
the deed is done. I will take what is on my horn, mare." Riekahn let
the flame that engulfed his body shrink to a small gem of pure flame,
revealing his jet blood form, tribal, archaic markings bloodying his
hide. The mane on his crest was crudely cut, revealing his muscular
neck on both sides, the tips of the hair fibers crimson red.

Riekahn, boldly, began to walk in the direction that he came, the
little flame dancing around him, taunting with possibility. He
wondered what weapon he would want to use this time? Such endless
possibilities with which to kill. After a few steps, the stallion
stopped and turned a little, crimson eyes boring into her own. Crimson
eyes so much like his son's. "You could attack, but you would suffer,"
he suggested simply. "Or you could let me go and warn your leader that
your herd is not as safe as you believe." Then, with another puff of
black smoke from his nose, he began to move, an anomaly to the sun
worshippers. He had the power of fire, but his body was black as
night, dark.

So, this was her home. Despite not getting the answers she was looking
for she had followed the odd creature back to these lands. She'd been
exploring it, both by sky and land but for now she had avoided meeting
with the other members of the herd. She wanted to figure out her
standing, her position before such meetings. You could attack, but you
would suffer. At the moment, she was flying. A shadow passing overhead
as she soared in the skies... yet the sight of the fire, the black
male and another pegasus brought her attention back to earth and she
landed. Landed off to the side, but still slightly in front of the
stallion as she considered her options. "Why do you want the tree sap
anyways?" Her voice was calm, gentle and curious as her wings folded
and her chin tucked just slightly. She could stop him if she had to,
or at least delay his leaving of the lands until perhaps another
arrived. But being new to the lands, she didn't understand the
significance of either his color or his actions.

“We are not as weak as you would think,” Onni says, her light toned
voice taking on a strangely hard edge. Her light blue eyes narrow in
suspicion at the large, black Friesian. Her body movements mirrored
his, bulky body backing up steadily, legs crossing over one another
occasionally until she found herself posed a few feet before him,
where she plants her hooves and stood firmly in his way. A smile forms
on Onni’s face, odd in the tension of the situation, almost as a
reflex.

I look up with my pale face toward this stranger, sap oozing along the
ridges of his branched horn, fire glistening against his darker frame.
Still, there was a strong grit of authority in the tobiano’s stance,
despite the fact that he had destructive magic, despite the fact he
was larger than her. The lack of fear or intimidation in the Pegasus
would tell the stallion one of two things: she was brave or she was
stupid. Perhaps, it was a little of both. Still, her mother had raised
her to stand up for her convictions, and she had training in battle.

Two rather dangerous things when combined.

The other Pegasus mare joined them from the sky, but Onni had hardly
noticed until the girl spoke up. Her blue eyes turn over to look at
the mare; she was unfamiliar, but that wasn’t alarming to her. The way
she seemed to speak, she was of the herd, so Onni flashed a brief
smile at her before turning her darkening face back to the stallion.
“Explain yourself, stallion, or you will face me.”
