There isn't anything more beautiful than the sounds of the wind whispering into the trees, or the bird singing. The way those voices mixed together, ancient and new. Voices of past and present sang to keen ears, and a soothing effect washed over a nervous lady. These nerves drove the mare to walk instead of fly, for fear of falling, loosing her ability to maintain flight, and those gold wings of hers buckling under the pressure and the myth descending upon new lands. So the ground was her companion this evening. The ground and the songs of ancient and new.

Yitilu is her name, and she is a traveler. She is a new soul venturing onto new land. She is a pegasus, a myth of ground and sky, a stunning sculpture with a caring personality. Always had the needs of others outweighed the her own, and always shall it continue.

This lass was almost there, the Threshold. She began to imagine what inhabited this land. What mysterious forces may be, so that stories told painted a paradise in her mind. These thoughts drove uneasy steps to quicken, and the winged equine was running now, moving over grassed landscape like it were the sky she flew in, that smooth and easy field to move in. Almost there. She was almost there now, and the thoughts grew stronger, driving those limbs of hers to move quicker.

Then after what seemed like ages the pale hued mare with the shimmering gold wings and the rose hued mane and tail, stopped and stood just before entering the threshold. It was like she could see the dividing line, and she was hesitant to cross it. It was exhilarating to be standing outside her new home, looking inside for the first time, everything was in such vibrant colors. The allure of something new before her, made its beauty greater. And these light blue eyes of her's were looking at something unknown and new, and it was stunning. Although the mare was excited to be in a new place, she was apprehensive as well. What if things are but an illusion and it is not as it was made out to be, nor was it like she imagined? What if it held horrors? Yitilu was hesitant, nervous to take that first step.

But she did.

Yes, with a lot of effort and reassurance the pegasus lady was wandering into the threshold. Head was cast about as gaze shot over everything, exploring, and searching even. In her mind seeing everything was at the forefront, but still that fear that it was not as pleasant as it sounded was ever present. She managed to keep that fear at bay, and her posture was once again excited and happy. Then wings would open to lift her, and farther and faster she would venture. Enjoying the scenery and the airspace, like it was any different from any other air. Such a child-like demeanor came over the mare. She was like a kid in a candy store so to speak.

No Time for Lies and Empty Fights

Still unsure what filth exactly had consumed the surface of Helovia, the warrior crept wearily from The Sanctuary’s gaping mouth and launched with haste into the whirling wind beyond. Veci had departed firstly to scout ahead, his from untouchable and invisible, without risk of stirring the interest of those rotting souls who had become so terribly infected by the darkness. They rose together into the eerie quiet which had cloaked Helovia’s Heart; not a soul moved upon the parched clay earth, still littered with the shining lure of unreachable gems; no sound broke the discomforting silence suspended there, like the calm before the storm- and Hector was glad to part with the alien area which felt so suddenly alien and unwelcoming.

They travelled north towards the Threshold, the first mission assigned since there descent into the subterranean world which sheltered them from the wrath of evil hunting those foolish enough to stay in their falling homelands- there was no longer trust in the might of their defence (the wall, the army), the Sun God had sent to the Sultans of Dragon’s Throat a grim warning that this shadow was unbeatable. While the giant orange creature was not frightened of that unknown threat snapping veraciously all around, he was concerned for the welfare of the herd; nervous about the future facing them all. Though bountiful were the resources hidden beneath the surface, it seemed so unnatural for their kind- his winged kin particularly who thrived on the ecstasy of wind-tussled feathers, to live cave-ridden.

That was not his responsibility though; certainly he had not the right to pass any judgement on the decision faced, that seemed so unavoidable.

As the infamous region of old spindly redwoods tumbled at last below the reach of his airborne forelimbs, Hector sent his companion down to assess the area and find perhaps any Pegasi who were wandering blindly so close to danger. He knew not whether the Threshold was safe still, but as he circled above, that feeling of repulsion and foreboding began to fade a little. In fact, the lower he dipped towards the forest, and with no negative projection from the spectre trawling below, it seemed more likely that this was perhaps the last of Helovia’s untouched wildernesses.

‘Pegasus here...’ Echoed suddenly through his mind and he knew right away that Veci had found one wandering. Rapidly he fell into the sparse canopy, folding his wings to avoid their damage or snagging; fiery eyes picking the multi-toned female with ease. Should not have the Boggart been with him, perhaps the search might not have been so short-lived.

Sturdy round hooves were comforted by the suppleness of the needle laden soil as they landed artfully a considerate distance from the stranger. Settling once more upon strapping legs, Hector’s flame engulfed wings tucked loosely, readily against each flank; the stallion strode with swift confidence forward- urging his companion to watch all around for those hungry wraiths. "Greetings," he hailed the mare warmly, though always concern rushed his voice. "I am Hector and I have been sent by the Kings of Dragon’s Throat to bring you to safety. Foul creatures have been turned loose upon these lands and I fear it is not safe for us to linger long."

A respectful but firm nod concluded his unorthodox invitation, and the long leonine tail snapped warily to his brawny rear as he seized the following moments to scan the nearby tree line with both straining ears, and clever eyes. Already the Pegasus mare’s wings were unfurled, so perhaps she too was aware of Helovia’s sickness; maybe she was preparing to flee.

Entering the Threshold was much easier when apprehension was set aside. Now the winged beauty was looking about her new homeland, whilst she landed with a graceful touch down, and a canter towards the inner part of the new land. Wings of gold then fold in neatly at her sides, resting comfortably there. She moved about this landscape, eyes on everything, drinking in the sweet elixir that was exploration and discovery. All her anxiety was vanished in an instant, as fantasy gave way, and in her own little world she disappeared to.

It was not long after her arrival that a presence approached. This presence was equine, and a pegasus as well. This presence had sent a silent partner out, and that partner had discovered the little lady. But she was mistaken for lost, it would be assumed, which was far from it. . .as of late. Surely her being lost was inevitable given she was a newcomer. Though for now she was not lost, and this presence was quickly approaching. Although he went unnoticed by the mare, as she was taking in the sights, and no guard was up.

Closer and closer he got to her, now she was in his sights, but he was not in her's just yet. Yitilu had stopped her exploring to taste the greens, teeth and lips closing around and pulling up feed. Then a voice sounded, and the lass sent her head skyward, and eyes turned to where the voice came from. She then saw the fiery winged stallion, and instinct forced movement from her. Yitilu backed away from the pegasus as he approached her and went in to claim it was not safe and that she should go with him. Fear sparked in the mare's mind, fear for the danger he spoke of, and the stallion himself.

"Oh. . .Hello." She began, then hesitated as she thought on his words. Should she trust him and allow herself to be taken away by the stranger? Should she flee? What if she was attacked by this evil he spoke of? What if he had ill intentions? All sorts of questions went through her mind and it made picking an option difficult. He did seem genuine in his concern for her safety. Plus he could show her around, if he was not a bad soul. But if he was, she was toast. She was not sure that he could be trusted, but so far he was the only one around, and seeing as how there was a possibility of bad souls around, she would take her chances.

"Well Alright then. Lead the way." She said, her voice laced with her anxiety over this decision. Yitilu would move forward, her steps slow, so as to allow him to start off in the direction he would take her, and as a way to keep her distance. A large, safe distance, one that would allow her a head start, if she needed to flee, because her suspicions about him being dark were true. Something told her, that was not the case, but she would do it anyway, just to be safe.

No Time for Lies and Empty Fights

Copper gaze watched unwaveringly as the mare’s face; slim and pretty, bathed in the palest cream and melding white, was pulled from the grass towards his direction. The crystal blue eyes which greeted him were a startling contrast to the wickedness brewing through the lands, but so perfectly fitting for the pallid creature that seemed so dainty before him. Hector was in truth the opposite with an enormous stature, burly and powerful; his liver chestnut coat wrought across a rippling network of primed muscles- a warrior, athletic and poised (though a tattoo of gilt flames curled brilliantly upwards the length of his throat).

The stallion held two wings ajar from the bulk of his frame, ever alert and rightfully prepared and each were splattered with vivid orange- at the moment, the Sun God had gifted all those herded upon his lands with passive flames; fire engulfing their manes, tails and their glorious wings. Even their step radiated the dancing element. The young creature who stood now with Hector would also be blessed with such should she agree to bed by the watch of his herd. Two ivory horns broke the normalcy of his masculine face, the smaller sitting just clear of supple velvet nostrils, while the second jutted between his eyes. Finally to his rear, a long leonine tail flicked with anticipation- a reflection of the mood stirring his thoughts, and dressing it was a luxurious drape of tangerine hair, snapping through the cool wind.

She was unsettled, he could see that much without effort, but made no attempt to butter that which had been told with foolish smiles and ignorant reversals. Hector had made his point, and he spoke only the severe truth of the matter. Never the less, prudently the mare accepted, and before turning with expanding wings the stallion offered simply. "I will answer questions, and explain further our herd’s situation when we are beneath the ground. Pray we stay safe as we travel the southern bound wind corridor." Again he nodded solemnly, and swivelled his hips as best that his giant body could manage, to launch from coiled haunches into the vast blue arc. Veci wafted like a breath of breeze around them as they travelled towards the heart- monitoring always their security as they passed through the diseased world.

The stallion would lead her to safety. He told her of great evil out in this new land, which she had held in her mind as a paradise. Fear of this being true, that her expected paradise was not what it seemed, wreaked havoc on her mind. That vibrancy the Threshold had, left, and what remained was just like any place she had been. No longer was there any allure. Well that wasn't entirely true, it was still a new place, and maybe. . .maybe there was someplace in this new land that the evil could not reach. That was good. Mare would like to think on that more, it eased her spirits. It made trusting the one who was intending to protect her easier.

Yitilu cast her gaze over the stallion, eyeing the horns upon the pegasus' head, and the long tail. Both features were reminiscent of the unicorn, and she began to wonder if he was in fact a unicorn, as well as a pegasus. Such an interesting combination, and it was so displayed before her in a unique way. The chestnut stallion also had fire in his wings, licking and playing over red feathers. She found herself in awe, but that was quickly put aside, hidden from the stranger as he spoke again, as she caught his gaze on her's.

Wings of his were expanding, preparing for flight, and the mare would copy. Golden wings fanned out, their size making the already flight lady even slighter. She listened carefully, feeling herself be plagued by apprehension again. 'Pray we stay safe', he said. Yitilu felt like she was being watched then, and her gaze was shifted, so it darted around the pair. Paranoia if you will, if that evil he had spoken of. She ws starting to get the feeling that it was there, waiting in the shadows, waiting to strike and drag her into a horror she did not ever want to experience. These thoughts, this continual fear of being taken, drove the lady to closing the distance between the duo, taking comfort then, on the closeness of the one offering protection.

"Okay." She began, then registered what he had said again.

"Wait, underground?" She blurted out as large wings lifted the mare into the air following the stallion. Yitilu was not so sure she wanted to go underground. Was there even places that could house a creature as big as an equine? Lady had only seen underground places big enough for small animals, like rabbits. Lass would think on that for a moment more. Curious now, as to what this place would look like, and how big it was. If it could house a horse, she wondered if it would be large enough and long enough for flight, and for multiple pegasus. Sounded like a beautiful and magestic place. She was growing anxious to see it.
