The Desert City Of Hodol-Hiria

History:

- Ancestors to the Hiria Merchenaries were horses for Assassins
- The City is now swollowed by the desert, few buildings remain, but a labyrinth of halls still exist under the sand
- Only Akhal Tekes populates the area because of the harsh conditions
- Very few know the secrets of the once great city (chambers, weapons, the underground tunnells)
- The Hiria have a very distinctive language, which contains both bodylanguage and sounds
- When the city was abandoned by men, they released their horses, but the horses never left

The Hiria – tradition and lifestyle

- The Hiria is a proud clan, always trying to keep their blood clean
If someone stands out in battle or as a warrior, they may give their blood to the clan, to produce a second generation of great warriors
- They sell protection to other herds, often if they try to cross the desert
- The Hiria has a tradition of plucking out the mane on their warriors, to prevent the mane to get in the way and to help with the heat
- They also cut off parts of the tail
- Only a pure Hiria with clean blood have their horn tilted forward and those born of a higher rank also have a horn under their chin
- There are few mares in Odol-Hiria, but as only a stallion with a Leiutenant rank or higher is allowed to breed (with permission from either the Major or a higher rank). Mares do not get ranks, but they are still trained in basic self defence while they are being kept away from the stallions in a harem. They keep a certain system to keep track of what rank they originate from. A Captain stallion can only breed with a mare that has a Captain as her sire. This system makes the Stallions fight harder to climb up in rank, as there is a great pride in producing a colt with pure blood.

The Garden

- It is a brutal ranking-system within the Hiria. If someone breeds outside their rank or show any form of disobedience, they end up in «The Garden»
- «The Garden» is a great hall buried underneath the desert where traitors and enemies end up. The unlucky horse is bound, before others pour melted sand over them. They end up as a glass statue.
