In Ampere's restless exploring of her confined space, she curved around a cavern and came across the garden of gems and jewels. They held that oddly bright, internal light like the mushrooms and the runes she'd seen. It was a curious kind of light, nothing like the sun or the stars, and for that it made her cautious. Yet more and more the cave seemed to boast of it, and any light was of some comfort with all of the darkness surrounding them.

A smile flittered to Ampere's lips, rare since this tumults event. She still remembered the day she and Mesec fled from the Endless Blue as if it had been mere hours ago...

She shook her head, scattering that terrible reminder with ease. "Why are you here?" she asked the glowing lights as she began to walk down their trail, entranced by the brilliant displays. More and more Ampere was surprised by the bizarre things she found. How could so many strange and impossible artifacts of the world exist? She thought she had a handle on the world, but this place of all others continuously proved her wrong. Could all of this just exist?

She use to think so, although she didn't understand it, but she tried not to think about it too hard. Unfortunately down here there was nothing but thinking to be done, so more and more Ampere's mind wandered with "why" pursed on the tip of her neurons.

It was almost too lovely, as if, "gods had to have made this...".
Then why did the gods also make the wraiths and the darkness?

She shook the thoughts away, frustrated. "Or perhaps, a skilled crafts horse."

This was the second time the stallion had visited this strange yet stunning territory. The sanctuary had many interesting things such as the wall of history, but something about these illuminate walls of crystal and glass floors gave the most intense atmosphere in the dark confinements. Farenjer treaded along the glowing room, rapidly coming closer to the small doorway where he had first met contact with the strange place, his ears rotated forward and his head drooping low. Passing a soft tree, he stepped from moss onto glass floors, the scents twisted into new ones, and the air turned warmer. He had finally entered the crystal walls, and defiantly continued to wander in.

Edging farther within the confinements of glass and gem, he closed upon the tunnel's wall and studied the minerals that held the strange place together. Icy blue eyes wandering over the scrapped pebbles of smaller jewels lying still, a pair of icy blue eyes stared back as he looked upon a vast reflection on the floor next to the small rocks. A sigh drifted from his lips. This was where he had met the equine mare named Mermaid. She seemed so startled by his form, his appearance that she recognized him as an infected wraith. What a joke. Did he really look like one of those things? Was he that Ugly? He couldn't help but feel a sharp knife press into his heart thinking deeper into the awkward situation that had occurred. The more he thought about it, the more it had developed into a sadder moment.

Finally, after browsing the surrounding remnants that had broken off the rigid cave walls. Farenjer had arisen and began moving on, diving deeper within the crystal confinements. "Why are you here?...." A voice echoed upon the walls and the stallion stood still. His ears twitched to the sound of another's voice. Who is that? Withdrawing from his rigid posture, the unicorn began guiding himself through the crystals towards the mysterious stranger. A curious expression driven upon his face. And then, as he turned the corner he found himself looking upon the dark form of a Pegasus. Feathers scattered along the mare's body, exotic blue markings rippled along her cheek down her neck, and a beautiful blue splashed along her body. Farenjer was rather drawn in by her beautiful stance, it had been a long time he had seen a Pegasus, only hearing the mocking words of the other Basiners as they spoke nasty words about them. But unlike the racist unicorns back within the Basin, Farenjer couldn't see anything ugly about this Pegasus. If only I could have the looks of an angel, a silent sigh tumbled through his mind.

Ampere breathed out small billows of condensation as she peered closely at a cluster of turquoise gems. The cold winter air was not so harsh as the snowy landscapes above ground, but the cave had a way of containing the chill and letting it settle in your bones. She hugged her wings tighter to her body when she noticed the fog of her exhale, her gaze dropping away now that the shiny gem was clouded.

Whoever made them, she thought as she began to turn, took considerable time. Was it for a purpose?

Her thoughts halted as her gaze lifted towards the unicorn stallion, immediately seized by his peculiar markings which had such an affinity with her own. Their teal hue, so like the stone she'd just been pondering, did not escape her notice and for a moment Ampere's breath hitched, wondering if her tinkering had summoned their creator after all. Child's wishes she thought, a smile cracking on her lips to disrupt the wonder keeping them taut. "Hello," she breathed, the word a curl of mist that fluttered away into the dark. Creator or not, he was handsome, although perhaps a tad creepy. Why the silence, had he been creeping up on her?

Her feathers ruffled a bit with the thought, her nape prickling, but she shook it off with another smile. "It's surprising to find such beauty at a time like this, isn't it?" she murmured by way of small talk, her head tilting as she studied him, awaiting some kind of reaction that might spell his intentions. Of the hundreds of horses taking shelter down here, few bothered to strike up conversation.

What good is beauty when you're trapped in the dark?
This she couldn't help but wonder as she watched him, drawn to the lightning framing his eye. She found herself wishing these stones meant something. Maybe they were a clue, but she lacked the studious nature that might help her unravel it - she was no oracle, she was a warrior.

The Pegasus looked upon him with a pair of gorgeous blue eyes. With a graceful movement, a friendly adjusting smile pulled onto her lips and she spoke welcomingly "Hello." He felt a little nervous being near her, for she carried such grace and perfect posture, he couldn't help but feel self conscious yet again. The mare spoke again, her head tilting to the side to observe the lighting unicorn more. A pregnant silence filled the air, and he nodded silently to her. His lips never twitching to rise into a friendly greeting, but a curious gleam reflected off his icy blue eyes. "Indeed, Miss." His head turned slowly towards the shining walls, icy orbs raking upon the ominous beauty. Lowering his head to look at the reflective cave floors he inquired "The Helovian lands can never stop surprising me. How much power the Gods behold in their grasps... They are truly admirable." His head rose up and he turned his gaze back upon the Pegasus. "But after all, they are the balance of nature." He commented.

Speaking of the Gods he had heard about the Wall of History but had never treaded towards the chamber. They say it shows Helovia's past. He wondered who came here long ago to paint such stories on these cold walls. Perhaps these crystals weren't even naturally condensed by nature. These crystals were place here by some artisan. And yet everything in these halls and chambers were a mystery. How did they come to be? Why didn't anyone find them before? He shook his head a little in disbelief and looked around the crystalized room again, waiting uncertainly for the mare's unspoken words.

He proves to be the quiet sort, but that doesn't bother her, Ampere usually does enough talking for two horses. His intentions seem well enough despite the silence, and she can't help but continue to admire him as she awaits a response, any response.

There she thinks as she catches a different light in his eyes just before he speaks, revealing little but telling enough. Her lips pursed in thought of her new companion as his attention drifted to the walls, revering them much as she had. "Do you think they made these?" she asked, though his words seemed to suggest yes. Ampere resettled her wings, the noise distracting in the serenity of this cavern. The loss of the warm air trapped under them sent a shudder through her coat and she exhaled a cloud forcefully. "It seems more like the gods to make beautiful things out in the world where everyone can admire them. This is more like... the last attempt at peace before something awful." Ampere grew somber, wondering not for the first time if this apocalypse had happened before. From what little she understood of Helovia it seemed there were hardly any natives - had they all been wiped out? Were they all due to fall to a similar fate?

"But then, what do I know?" Ampere let herself trail off, knowing neither of them would hold an answer. She was becoming exhausted with all this theoretical thinking, she just needed something to take her mind off the darkness. "Where are you from?"

As he finishes his own partial words, a pregnant silence fills the air and it was moments before the blue Pegasus began to speak. "Do you think they made these then?" Farenjer only blinked as she inquired the question, and she continued to speak of The Gods as they were in their last attempt to give their children a haven before death. It somewhat made Farenjer consider how grim that thought was... But then again, it could be as true as the zombie creatures that lurked the helovian lands above. He nodded swiftly before adding in "Your idea of this as a last resort is very grim, Miss. But I agree with you as well because it may as well be true." He paused before holding a gave on her blue orbs. "But alas, we will never know until it does occur or there is more signs."

She then questioned where he belonged within the herds. He stiffened a bit. What if she didn't like what he would say? He could only imagine how her face would turn from a peaceful gaze to a disgusted sneer. It made him feel cold inside. He knew that there were many Pegasi who hated Unicorns as much as Unicorns hated them. He wondered if he would truly identify where he originated from before this whole Sanctuary evacuation. Farenjer shuffled a bit before inquiring "I'm from the Aurora Basin. I'm a crafter among the ranks... Where are you from?" he tipped his head with respect before remember "Oh, and what is your name, Miss? Mine is Farenjer."

Ampere had never considered how pessimistic she could be until he told her that her thoughts were grim. Her struck her like a cold blade in her gut, her emotions shrinking back like roaches in the light. Especially since being trapped down here she had grown increasingly worse, her thoughts tumbling down, down, and down. She had ranged between pity and sorrow to denial and anger. Now it seemed she had finally accepted the present circumstances, but with some cruel ideology that they were destined for death and decay.

She shook her head, trying to laugh off his words, but the sound was weak and small and the length of the cavern soon consumed the noise. At the very least he did not seem to judge her for it, his voice remaining smooth and mellow and his words matter of fact. It soothed her.

She was grateful then when their discussion topic pivoted to something less dark - she needed to take her mind off of all of this. He didn't seem as pleased though, a slight change altering him, almost lost to the dark if not for the gentle glow of the gems. Much like she had responded to his comment he seemed to grow chilly and rigid. She could not figure out why though when he spoke of his home. Naive Ampere had visited his homeland and been chased out for it, but its name eluded her, considered unimportant at the time, for whatever foolish reason.

"That sounds nice," she murmured in response, smiling to convince him to relax again. "I'm from... nowhere and everywhere," she replied after a thoughtful quiet where she'd considered how to phrase it. Her wildlands status wasn't anything she was ashamed of, even if it was lonely and difficult at times, like now. If it weren't for the kindness of Mesec would she even have made it here on time? "Herd life has always seemed too...stifling." That's what she'd always told herself anyway, but lately the ache of her heart and the chill at her side in this winter hovel had made her reconsider the worth of company.

He finished with his name, which brought a wide grin to her lips. She had never been one for the exchanging of names, part of the trouble with identifying the Aurora Basin, but she thought the mannerism of it was, cute. "A handsome name for a handsome stallion," she responded with a croon. "I'm Ampere."
