Rules

general rules | in-depth

1. All species are accepted and treated as equals.
» In order to officially take up rank and join the Dragon's Throat herd, a character must be accepted through posting.
» Whilst any character can go to the Threshold and invite somebody to join the herd, only characters with rank magic can formally accept them.

2. The God of the Sun is recognized as the patron god of the Dragon's Throat land and is to be respected and praised at all times. To speak poorly of the Sun God may result in punishment from higher ranking members, or from the god himself.

3. All visitors must wait at the Dragon's Throat's border and are subject to questioning from members of the Dragon's Throat herd. Visitors are to be treated with respect until given reason otherwise. Visitors may be refused entry at any time for any reason.
» Visitors who fail to wait at the border are considered intruders and will be greeted with increased hostility. At this time magic may be used upon the intruder without restrictions (aside from death), per Helovia's rules.
» Visitors who are not allies may be afforded a day of rest, depending on the apparent intentions of said visitor. The Sultan(a)'s should be notified if the visitor decides to utilize the offered hospitality.
» Visitors who are allies are to be welcomed and may roam the Dragon's Throat freely, once the purpose of their visit has been seen to. A Sultan(a)'s should be notified of a visiting ally.

4. Alliances between the Dragon's Throat and other herds are to be upheld by all members at all times. Failure to do so will result in proper punishment by the Sultan(a).

5. Any herd meeting created by the herd leads is to be attended by all Dragon's Throat members. Any herd meeting created by one of the rank leads should be attended by anybody of that rank.

6. The Dragon's Throat herd functions as a family, meaning all members are to support each other in times of need, regardless of personal feelings for each other. Higher ranks are to be treated with due respect. Violence between members outside of official rank challenges is not accepted and may result in punishment from higher ranking members.

rank specific rules | specific

1. New members may only be officially accepted into the Dragon's Throat herd by anybody with rank magic.

2. Herd meetings within the Dragon's Throat may only be summoned by the Sultan(a)'s. Chancellors may call meetings but they are not mandatory. Rank leads may call meetings but these are only mandatory for those of their rank.

3. Challenges to the Dragon's Throat may only be answered by the Sultan, Sultana, and Gladiator, although are typically answered by the Sultan(a) [Warrior]
» Intruders or other non-official threats to the Dragon's Throat herd are to be answered by the Sultan, Sultana, Chancellor, Gladiator, and Warriors.

4. Stealths may only be answered by the Sultan, Sultana, and Sleuth.
» Stealth attempts may only be created with permission from the Sultan(a) or Chancellor and may only be completed by the Sultan(a), Chancellor, Sleuth and Spies.
» Sleuths are encouraged to obtain information on the other herds/outcast bands

5. Healing of Dragon's Throat members is priority for the Sun Physician and Healers, particularly in scenarios where healing is limited or restricted.

6. Crafting for the Dragon's Throat herd and its members is priority for the Forger and Crafters.
» The Forger may only craft 3 small, 2 medium, or 1 large item each season.
» Even if there are no designated items to craft, the Forger and Crafters should each use their crafting slots each season to create objects for the herd e.g. knives, armour etc. These will then be stockpiled and handed out as prizes etc.

☼ DRAGON'S THROAT ☼
CULTURE

CULTURE
The Dragon's Throat has historically been a herd heavily centered on fighting and religious aptitude, particularly towards the God of the Sun. While those aspects have not changed, there has been a shift towards an attitude more centered on the wisdom and learning aspect of religious devotion. With the opening of the Academy, the herd has assumed a more balanced outlook that brings together fighting, magical abilities, and intelligence into one cohesive unit.

HISTORY

PROLOGUE
In a time before any mortals that remain, the Dragon's Throat was cleansed in dragon fire and smoke. For a time all was still and quiet, a lone tree the only remaining edifice of the golden empire. The tree of the Dragon's Blood, it stands as a reminder of strength and sacrifice, weeping the color of the fallen and the flames that consumed them.

YEAR 1
The tree was not alone for long. As ashes and the sunlight are apt to do they nourished the land until it grew once more. A pale horse adorned himself in a gilded crown among the sands and his prayers rose through the heavens. Ra, the Sun's Emissary, worked to turn all of the blind towards the guiding light of the God of the Sun. What Ra boasted in faith however, he lacked in might, and was slain by the invading force known as the Tuuli.

As the sands were splattered with crimson once more, the Dragon's Blood tree drunk deep and Kri the Resolute took her throne. The feathered mare came from a land governed by other gods however, and so she did not raise her head to the glory of the Sun God. He cast his fire and his light upon Helovia like a storm that raged beyond his Tallsun season, calmed only by the conception of his first demigod.

In a place beyond the reign of the Sun God a filly was born. Israfel awoke and grew under the watchful care of Smoke the Wildrose, tended to like the beautiful desert flower that she was. Meanwhile the realm of the bright lord transitioned through its sultans. First, Leander the Lionheart stepped beside Kri, but despite his best intentions, his fortitude waned and he was cast out.

YEAR 2
Kri the Resolute thought to find the same ferocity she held with her second choice, and so she lifted Sumati the Sinbird, similar in gender and species, but it was not so in heart. Sumati soon slipped away into the timeless sands, allowing the longstanding general of the herd, Midas to step into place as the Gallant.

The God of the Sun smiled down upon the prosperity of his chosen land and its rulers, though the fires of the Diviner burned low and quiet. Time and time again Kri the Resolute defended against exterior threats, and occasionally, interior ones as well. Such was the success of the herd that a wall even began to take shape along the entrance, its metal gleaming with the power of the Sun's Forger. Many in god and mortal were jealous.

YEAR 3
Fate turned however, and one morning the herd awoke to the absence of their longest Sultana. Kri the Resolute, finally placing the herd in capable watch, departed and with it the era of good fortune was shaken. Midas the Gallant turned to the herd and summoned forth Gaucho the Wildfire to lead alongside him. There was outcry among the citizens, but the God of the Sun smiled down upon the decision, for the tribal warrior was one that spread the faith of the fiery deity. For the first time in a long time the God of the Sun connected with a Diviner, and through that link warned of the impeding apocalypse.

The world was plunged bit by bit into a chaotic swarm of darkness and sickness. The sands erupted as hooves flurried across them, the whole of the herd pouring underground into sanctuary, where they were silenced and unseen by the God of the Sun, weakest too as the season of his cold sister gripped Helovia.

In this darkest hour, the flame of Israfel the demigod burned out.

YEAR 4
With his brothers and sister the God of the Sun worked to push the wraiths and their evil at bay, but the land was forever warped by the dark experience.

Stretched to the limits of heaven, the God of the Sun walked among the mortals, stepping into the caverns where two took refuge that he would have rise and reclaim. The enflamed god found his fire in Ampere the Mother of Companions and his light in Africa the Starry-Eyed. They would lead their scattered herd back to the lands of bronze and gold. But despite the God's favor, it was not long after their emergence from the caves that Ampere the Mother of Companions disappeared, and the land continued in turmoil, the citizens' hold on the desert shaky and unsure.

It was not long before Sohalia the Transcended rose to take her place beside Africa the Starry-Eyed. With their appointment to the throne, the might of the Dragon's Throat fell to the wayside, for neither of the two Sultanas were inclined toward warfare. It was then that the Dragon's Throat Academy took shape beneath Sohalia the Transcended's gentle wings, and with it a new hope for the Sun's empire.

EVENTS
Season of the Sun
» The first day of Tallsun :: a day of festivity and celebration to praise and honor the God of the Sun and all he provides. His strength increases during the Tallsun season and is often taken as a good omen for the herd and its successes.

Sun's Slumber
» The last day of Tallsun :: a day of somber reverence and quiet prayer to the God of the Sun as his season draws to a close. This is seen as the end of the year's prosperity and suggests caution above all else.

Day of Deliverance
» The first day of Birdsong :: the day the God of the Sun descended through the chaos brought by the wraiths to lead us from the darkness and into the light that is his kingdom. As he moved among his children, flames rolled off of him and scorched the evil that plagued. He returned the glorious blaze to the sun, righting the balance of day and night and setting the world back into rhythm.
