The bite of the winter air chills you to the bone and you shiver as you look at the looming mountainside. Above you, the moon glows brightly, casting an eerie blue light down upon everything it touches. The snow is particularly deep tonight and you're tired after trudging through so much of it. All you want is rest, but the night seems to have other plans for you. As you come around a grove of trees, you see that two paths have been carved out of the snow, each one illuminated by an oddly placed beam of light from the boom. One leads up the mountainside, the other leads around the base. “Choose," the winds seem to whisper at you as you stop to take in what you have found. You feel compelled to obey- which way do you go?

:: You have 72 hours to respond, please indicate in your post which path you choose. This drop will have multiple stages, each decided by dice roll.
:: This drop is for Dark or Wind Magic, which must have been on your wishlist for at least 1 month
:: Please indicate which magic you are attempting to gain and link to your wishlist

As strong as the seas are stormy.</style>

Wandering, she crosses the paths of the tundra repeatedly, wondering if she should follow the pull of her stomach that leads her to the frosted lands of the Basin. She had been pending acceptance through d'Artagnan not long before the plague had sucked them all beneath the earth, but she was unsure if her place still lay within her borders. Would it be worth returning, going through the process of gritting her teeth and impatiently awaiting a verdict? Did it still matter to her...to search for the whispered names of Mauja and Faelene? Was it worth it, to her, to find her godparents? The rest of her family had cruelly abandoned her, who was to say her bloodless relatives would not do the same? But the young part of her cried out for support, and she grit her teeth against it, wishing the ache in her chest would disappear. She was so lonely, it hurt. Would her father even take her to his side? She had never met him, he was a foreign concept wrapped in the icy mysteries of the Aurora Basin. Would he be anything at all like she imagined?

As she walks, she hears it. A whisper, beckoning, dark and sultry. Her eyes brightened. Was it her Queen? Was the silken maiden of night reaching out for them? Hurrying towards the voice, smile tugging at her lips, she trembled eagerly at the pull of magic on her skin. The Moon Goddess was not forthcoming, but the presence of magic was clear. This was a gift, a test. Hotaru trudged through the thick snow, pushing through stubbornly as was her nature, taking strength in the chill of the golden chain against her cheek. It was proof of her own worth. She could do this. There were two clear paths, and the word trickled down her spine like cold water, demanding she choose. Taking in a deep breath, she turned towards the base of the mountain. Darkness lingered in low places, after all. And she began to walk forward.

Wishlist :: [Magic: Dark x Wind | Can create storms up to the size of a Category 4 hurricane that hold invisible blades that create lattice cuts of varying depth on the victim's body, usually found every few inches. The storms require concentration to keep it from growing out of her control, and if a companion were to attack her while she is controlling it, the storm will take hold like a naturally created one and remain alive for approximately 1-5 minutes. If the storm grows out of control it will harm her as well with the hidden shrapnel, considering it will expand as it starts to die]

Rayo was unsure if this was the same time as the companion drop, but told me to post anyways, so I hope this is within rules! If not I'll gladly take it down.

So you got high. Good work. You're a champion. And then you laid on the beach for like... forever? It seems like it, but you guess it can't have been forever because you're not on the beach now... You don't know, it's all kind of confusing. At least you feel like yourself again. Each step you take is wobbly, your head bobbing and weaving like you have no sense of balance at all, and drool falling oh-so-gracefully from your lips down to the ground. Yup, you're back to being yourself- a hot mess and not giving one flying fuck about what anybody else thinks.

So sometime between getting high and getting slightly functional, you ended up.... where? Have you been here before? Maybe, you're not really sure, but what you do know is that the transition from beach to knee high snow is getting a little annoying. Each step you take requires so much effort. You just want to be high in peace. Oh, and you guess go find Glass Horn, since she's probably got some idiotic order for you to accomplish now that the band of crazies can get out of the cave.

Except maybe you're not going to find glass horn. Something pink and gold and silver, and way too interesting, catches your eye and you start to follow her. Except she leads you to some oddly cleared areas of snow and the moonlight... is this your imagination? Are you hallucinating again? Nevermind that. She goes towards the base of the mountain so you decide to follow. “Hey Pastel, what'd you do to the snow?” you call out after her, words a little slurred and body just a hint too stumbley as you try to trot after her. Still, you have to admit... you're thoroughly enjoying the view from behind.

The Blood Empress

Exhausted from her travels, The Empress needed somewhere to sleep for the night. Nothing appeared to be either warm of comfy, but the caves could be damned. She never wanted to retire to those hellish caves again, but that of course left the dilemma of where she should sleep. A strange sight in the horizon catches her eye, a glow...Interest caught as quickly as that, The Empress turns and begins to plow through the snow with renewed energy. "What is it? What could it be? " Her soft voice carries through the wind. It's a strange sight to behold, the vermillion queen has seen the crazy, the wicked and the innocent. What category would this sight fall into? Eris could only guess. Humming too herself as she made her path through the snow, The Empress was happy with the thought that today was a good day for her. The madness didn't show and she had found a few adorable snow bunnies leaping about. Their warm blood still could be tasted on her tongue. "One little bunnie as white as Snow, the other as brown as my hooves. " Ryhiming had never been a talent of hers. "Now both are as red as my hair." A giggle before a final few lyrics. "All they could do was stare."

A choice, The Empress looked at the paths illuminated by a mysterious light. One lead up the mountainside, the other lead around the base, which way should she travel? Her bright blue eyes watch two figures moving through the snow. The horned female moved to the base of The Mountain. Eris watched in interest as she battled through the snow, at least her cloak of wild animal skins kept her warm. Oxy's voice drifts back to her and Eris blinks a few times. Quite frankly she didm;t feel like trying to force a conversation out with The Asylum's general. Much too difficult. Prehaps they knew something she didn't though...blue eyes turned to rest on the mountain top where the glow also brightened up the surrounding areas. It wouldn't hurt to go her separate way. In fact The Blood Empress was quite familiar with choosing her own path. Hooves turning in the snow, Eris began her way up the mountain instead. She was exhausted, and desperate to sleep but the lights called to her instead. They kepis her awake and alive in the moment. Curious as to what she would find outweighed her eagerness to sleep. Something mysterious lurked and Eris knew that if she found out what it was, she was going to keep it for herself and not worry about how it effected others.

have you seen that girl?

This world was a wild place filled with magic wielding civilians and diseases that ate away at the flesh and mind. When the girl had watched Kahlua rot away, she felt as though she should have turned back at that time, when her fear was greatest. Yet for some reason she stayed, she followed her herd to the tunnels, where she found that walls could stretch and squeeze before her eyes, to smash her to pieces while she watches through the eyes of the Gods. Still underground, she was opening her mouth, the glass upon her surface rippling, appearing similar to convulsions. In a corner with no one but her little, squeaky bird, she seems to be a pathetic sight to look at.

This was how she was for quite a while, alone, afraid, left to cradle herself in and out of a state of panic and shock. Her Lior squealed desperately for her when she slumbered, flapping feathered wings, needy as a newborn childe. For months she curled up there, ignored by all who walked past, because who was to care for something whose cold heart could be seen by all, whose mind does not exist within her body, but within her soul? They treat her this way because of how she walks, how she talks, the fact that she does not need to eat, the fact that she is different.

Somehow she found the light, even with all the darkness that followed in her steps. She found that the skies had been cleared by the powerful deities that ruled the land, the sun breezing away all the darkness that had lurked above them. She took a hesitant step towards the light, watching her bodice catch it and glimmer, streaks of light befalling the shadows of the cave, dancing upon the cold stone walls.

Glancing back, she takes her first few steps into the open, finding herself enjoying the crisp sunlight that fell upon her, surrounded by tall grasses and deep red light. Her heart was warmed by the heat that flowed through her glass bodice, ears wavering as though it was they that heard the sounds, not the soul that was tethered to the glass structure. Turning away from the heat, she leaves it behind and travels the land aimlessly, unknowing of where she was or where she was going.

Finding others walking down paths, she perks her auds, curious by why they walked upon these paths, and why something whispered to her, demanded of her to choose one, so she does. To the sky, to the heavens, that is the path she chooses. She takes the path that does not wind around the moutain's feet, but the one that leads to the crown, to the Gods, to her family. On her back the feathered yet still fuzzy bonded squeals, staring at the others with wide, silver moons. Where this path may take her, she does not know, just hoping that maybe at the end she will finally find something she desires.

A paradise.

I DON'T FOLD UP AND I DON'T BOW

He follows the feeling, massive frame moving at a steady trot. Cynder perches on his back, moving with the fluent muscles beneath his scarred pelt, her own mind feeling the sensation that creeps through her bonded's. He feels the deep snow tugging at his legs, and it takes a lot of effort to power his gargantuan frame through the white barrier. His green war-dragon offers to clear the path for him with her flame, but he refuses - he is not the sort to give up so easily, to admit defeat. He trudges on, ignoring the burning sensation in his muscles and forcing his powerful frame onwards.

The bonded pair come to a copse of trees - nearby the beast can see abominations, horned scum following the strange sensation as well, and the warbringer's ears pin into his mane. Cynder growls, her body vibrating on his back as she hungers to douse the vermin with her flame, but together they force the desire aside and focus instead on which path to choose. Some of the horned vermin go around the base, and Tyradon hopes they sink into the snow and die screaming - a fellow equine goes up the mountain, followed by another scum. With a snort the warmaster takes the path up the mountain - his muscles already burn, so he can see no harm in testing them further. And there is always the chance he can push the vermin off the side of the mountain to her death; the thought brings a bloodthirsty smile to his handsome face, and his jade dragon chirps her approval. It had only been a few days since the white-coated mare had battled with the rusty pony, but the blood stains still damped her wounds. Her spine and lower injuries ached with pain as she stumbled on through the deep Frostfall snow. She didn’t know where she was going; she didn’t really care either. The dark lady didn’t have anything better to do anyway, to most, she was just another worthless rat. But the mare didn’t care what they said, she didn’t give a damn what they thought, she was made from the strongest, and probably the longest, line of monsters alive. She didn’t have a problem with some immature-talking idiots. The mare didn’t have time to fool around.

Hellä continued along with her lagging night. Large snowflakes fell from the dark sky and sprinkled the already white earth. She had a pain trying to get through the snow, her legs slowly making their way through the deep terrain. Why was it this way? Hellä hadn’t struggled through the battle, yet days later, she was sore as hell. Maybe it had been too long of a gap between her last war and the one she had with the stubborn little bitch. If she had stayed in shape, she might not feel as bad as she did as of now.

The wind picked up and it began blowing against her, making her struggle even more. Her harks perked as another gust of wind blew in her daunting face. It made a shiver flow through her spine, causing the wound on her lined dock to shake with pain. Hellä didn’t know what made her mind go crazy, because all she smelt was another damn stud.

She had a sense to follow him and when she came to a yield, her muscular, but weak, legs climbed up the mountain, hoping to come closer to the male. She saw a coal black glimmer in the distance, but she was blinded by the snow and couldn’t tell if it was the steed or not.

Just as the wind knew you would, you came and you obeyed.

The moon and wind seem pleased as each horse comes and selects a path, either around the base of the mountain or up the slippery slope of the side. For each horse, with each choice, the wind gusts just a little harder for them, curling around their body and enveloping them in a layer of cold. Even when the wind is feeling giving, it is not unforgiving, and the chill bites to the bone.

For those going up the path of the mountain, they find that with each step the snow becomes deeper, as it was before the paths emerged and before their choice was made. And even the moon seem to grow darker with each step closer towards it. The moon is a cruel mistress, jealously guarding herself on this night and growing darker from those who would try to trek closer to her. Eventually a wall of snow stops all forward momentum, the moon grows black behind a cloud for those on the mountain path and the wind ceases to blow. Those four that have gone upward have failed to gain the favor of the moon and the wind and are left to their own devices in the snow.

For the pair that travel around the base of the mountain, the moon continues to glow and the winds seem to push from behind, urging them on ever faster. The path they travel on eventually splits into two again, one leading into a tunnel through a pile of snow where the wind seems to blow and howl with extreme force but the moon cannot touch. The other path leads through the open air, the moon shining almost as brilliantly as the sun, but the wind seems to stop as though there is invisible force field around the path. “Moon or wind,” they hear. The dice have been cast. Make your choice.

:: Hotaru and Oxy have chosen the correct path and have 72 hours to respond.
:: Choose either the wind tunnel with no moonlight or the moonlit path with no wind and indicate this choice in your post. Your choice need not reflect the magic you seek.

You're not so sure this path is even that fantastic anymore. Sure, the moon is above you and the wind is blowing around you but.... you think you'd rather just be on the beach continuing to get high. As far as you can tell, there's nothing interesting about this path around the mountain except the still rather pink ass that you're staring at. Which wouldn't be so bad, you suppose, but it's kind of cold and you don't have that much padding between you and your bones. After all, even though you managed to stop your drug habit for a little time while you were forced underground, there was certainly nothing nutritious enough down there to help you gain back weight.

But anyways, the path. It's getting a little boring and you're about ready to turn to the side and barge off through the snow, doing whatever it is that you want to do, when something interesting happens. You come to a junction, two paths. It's rather interesting, odd even, the way that they're divided. One black as night but a vortex of wind. The other brightly lit but with no wind to be found. You snort and roll your eyes as you again feel compelled to choose.

In the end, you decide to wander into the blackness. Why the hell not. The wind whips up everywhere around you and instantly you regret your decision, being almost toppled over since you're not really that steady on your feet. You only hope this was the right choice and it was worth it.

As strong as the seas are stormy.</style>

Pastel?

Hotaru turned, at first confused, and then gave a lilting laugh when she realized the darkly covered stud was talking to her. Pastel...it was kind of cute, actually. After all she was exactly that, what with her pinks and creams and ivories. "Do I look powerful enough to control the snow, handsome?" And okay, maybe that was the flirtatiousness of her family coming through, but it tasted sweet on her lips. It tasted like independence. Like rebellion. Knowing she wasn't tied down by Tingal, that she had severed all she had with him when he'd left her lonely and confused with no goodbye and no reasoning for his departure. She could call handsome whomever she wanted now.

But whatever trial they were facing, it seemed she and the stud were the only two left, and it made her heart race. Would she finally be able to stand before her twin and smile, truly smirk in the face of her arrogant sister, and say she had magic far better than any purification Raeden could conjure? It could do nothing to make pure the bad blood between them after all. So with a brief nod and a flash of a smile towards the dark brute, wishing him a fair amount of luck in their similar endeavors, she separated from him. She heads for the brilliantly illuminated path, and wonders if she'll see the curious stud behind her again. But for now, she only hopes she's made the right choice.

Both of the paths seem to intensify as the horses make their choices. The darkness of the tunnel grows blacker while the wind begins to glow with hurricane force. The moonlit path glows with such an intensity that the ground is almost reflective, the air remarkably still. Everything seems to culminate in a crescendo of light and wind. As both of them reach the end of their paths, where they join together again in a semi circle cleared from the snow, only Oxy is allowed to pass. He has made it through his trial, the wind tunnel. On Hotaru's path, the light seems to create some sort of barrier which she cannot cross.

A gentle breeze and a very specific spot of light shine down on Oxy from above, the Shire the chosen one, among all who have come. “Wish granted,” the winds whisper, then everything disappears. The light barrier that holds Hotaru, the wind tunnel behind Oxy; all of their magic dies and the night becomes normal once again. Except for Oxy. The magic runs through him now.
