It was strange how close the Heavenly Fields were. When Note resided in the Throat, he had to fly for hours upon hours to get the chance to see the beautiful fields. Now his home was closer to the fields. Still not exactly a hop-skip-and-a-jump away or anything, but much closer than the dry, dusty Throat.
Note hadn't spent a whole lot of time in the Edge lately. Which was a bit unfortunate, but he had other things that desired his attention at the moment. It felt like he was repeating his own past, spending time adventuring and recruiting rather than actually sparring or socializing. Where had Cheveyo gone? She had been one of the few horses he could call his friend, but the painted mare was nowhere to be found. It was sad, really. He had begun to develop feelings of sorts for her. Was she just hurt somewhere?
Panic overwhelmed the stallion, his long tail twitching with worry. She could take care of herself, she had to be fine. The mare struggled through life, it made her tough and distant and capable of handling herself as well as any other trials that came her way. She's okay. She had to be okay.
'She is fine,' Sabel assured her bonded, purring as her sightless eyes rested upon her bonded's features. 'You don't know what you're talking about,' Note snapped, whirling his head around to face the lynx that sat upon his withers. She yawned and shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.
'You're worried. About someone. Who would you be worried about? Cheveyo, or Skysong. You hate everyone else,' Sabel spat spitefully, a hiss pouring from her rosy lips. The cat was referring to the lack of attention she had been receiving lately.
'Sour puss,' Note retorted, shuffling his feathers. It shut the lynx up, that was for sure. He was free to think by himself, but such freedom felt more lonely than anything.

Looking up to the overcast sky the white mare sighed heavily wishing that the sun would soon shine down upon them bringing with it the warm weather. She was sick and tired of the snow and wanted nothing more than to laze around under the bright sun for awhile. The weather had been not helping her overall downed mood as of lately making it next to impossible to try and think positively. Ever since she had been freed from the pond she had been trying to make the most of her life while it lasted, not that she had all that much going for her. Here she was a lone equine in a world full of much more magnificent creatures with horns, wings or bright beautiful colours or markings. Her own coat in contrast was as white as the snow and rather blah, it was no wonder she was overlooked majority of the time.

In a effort to raise her spirits from the glum darkness she slowly navigated her way to the one place she had felt the faintest happiness, Heavenly Fields. Even in the dull winter weather there was something about this place that helped her picture herself in a time of happiness. Closing her ice blue orbs she tried to remember the last happy moment she could remember. Letting her mind wander around with guarded caution she avoided the pain that tarnished much of the last years to focus on the last memory she had of her parents. Barely four months of age she lay curled up tight against her mother's warm side listening quietly to some story she could not really remember. Her father watched over his two most precious treasures with adoring eyes occasionally adding parts to the storyline. This had been the night before her life had been torn apart forever.

Opening her eyes once again she tried to imagine the images of both her parents before her with her now. Memories came forward but despite her effort an image never formed. Sighing softly in defeat she took to digging through the ice and snow trying to find something half decent to eat. She couldn't really remember the last time she had taken the time to take in some food in the last few days so now was as good as ever. Lowering her head to snatch up some of the frozen shoots she felt her long mane cascade down around her face almost as to hide her from the world.

The faded bay shifted upon the ground, listening to his silvery hooves crunch the snow and dead ground beneath. The serenity of the land was almost eerie. He was used to the field being alive with horses and animals and sunshine, but there was none of the former liveliness the field held. Nonetheless, it was a decent place to come and think. Stretch his wings, revel in the soft rays of light that managed to shine through the clouds.
Note shifted his weight to his front hooves, letting his large, hawk-like wings relax and fall from his shoulders onto the ground. He tossed his dark gray mane, every horror from his past slipping from his mind for once. The stallion contemplated going home to spar or search for Cheveyo. Possibly spar with Cheveyo. That could be fun.
The faded bay spun around on his hooves, pulling up his wings to tuck them back into place. He took a step forward, freezing in place as he noticed an unusually large mound of snow. Wait. It wasn't snow.
It was a horse. A mare, it seemed, as white and floaty as the snow that fell from the sky. The stallion took cautious steps forward, sharp green eyes fixated upon the figure's bodice. She looked so much like Sohalia...
Was she Sohalia?
As the faded bay neared, he was relieved to see the mare lacked wings and therefor, could not be Sohalia. The soft scent of the Edge wafted from the mare. One from his own herd. He didn't see a problem with saying hello, then. But how does one say such a thing? He wasn't completely sure. He wasn't in a rush, so there was no need to show the more feisty side of himself. This was a herd member, after all. He was still new to the Edge and wanted to make a somewhat decent impression.
"Hello," Note stated simply, going with a greeting one could never go wrong with. "You're from the Edge?" Note's tone was questioning, unsure as he let a lopsided grin fall onto his ashen lips.
Sabel rose from her spot, crawling up her bonded's nape to get a better smell of the mare. Her sightless eyes were friendly, a light smile upon her rosy lips. She was never hostile to horses.

Faint rays of sunshine managed to filter their way through the clouds taunting those below with the warmth for short periods of time before disappearing as fast at it appeared. It was almost like mother nature had a sense of humor and just wanted to toy with them given all that they had already been through already this year. What it must be like to be able to control the weather and have enough nerve to pour mounds of snow down then watch those below suffer. Maybe the earth was more like a giant snowglobe and she just picked it up shaking it at her pleasure causing these strange happenings. A small smirk touched her maw at the thought as she browsed selectively through the cold grass enjoying the silence.

Crunching of snow drew her attention immediately as her head returned skyward and her eyes picked up the source of the noise. Butterflies replaced the usual clenched knots deep within her stomach as her eyes fell upon the pegasus stallion approaching slowly. Great just what she needed, this is really not funny she thought coldly slowly growing to hate mother nature more with each passing moment so far today. Was her luck really so bad that each time the season change grew near fate would have her meet up with a stallion. Regarding him with curiosity she found that his scent was familiar to her, she did not know the male before her but he was apart of their herd. Ok maybe this was alright she reasoned to herself silently.

Returning a cautious smile of her own her ears perked forward listening to what he had to say intently. "I am yes" She replied softly wondering why it was he asked. His smile served to quell any nervous energy that tended to linger around her like a pest, allowing her to find her voice instead of stumbling for words. "My name is Brisa, your from the edge as well right?"

Her eyes shifted to the small lynx accompanying the pegasus, his companion she mused. Moving forward she walked over to the pair extending her muzzle towards the Lynx in admiration and greeting. She was a sucker for companions, always wanting to meet each and everyone for they were all unique. Maybe it was out of envy that she found herself drawn to them for she had no one to provide companionship. Maybe one day she would experience what it was like, but until that day socializing with others would have to do.

Note was not good at many activities. He could not process his emotions. He was unable to be kind without the help of Sabel. He was fast, but lacked the stamina to hold his speed for long. He couldn't craft nor spy, and wasn't particularly gifted with pondering the meaning of life and communicating with Gods (they terrified him, although he'd never admit it).
What was he good at?
Observing. He could appreciate the little details in a being. The bay could look upon a flower and revel in the sheer beauty of the sun's rays polishing every petal, or notice a contrasting color between a horse's coat and eyes. He looked upon life and earth as what it was: a tragic splendor of existence.
And that was how he looked at her. As a timid, tragic splendor of existence. Note's sharp green eyes refused to remove themselves from the mare, thoughts consisting of nothing more than how lovely her smile looked upon her lips, slightly gray like his own. He always found gray muzzles amusing when they were lit with a smile. Gray was typically a negative color when a smile was the epitome of positive.
"I am yes," she stated, her voice faint in the crisp winter air. Good, his scent was not failing him yet. He was only six years old, which wasn't elderly or anything, but he felt well aged. A great deal of events, both happy and sad, had been crammed into those six years.
'Brisa,' Note repeated to himself, letting the name tumble through his mind to be archived with the rest of the callings he had memorized. "I am as well," Note's words were terse, he wasn't good at chatting, either. "I'm Note, that's Sabel," the faded bay didn't lose his subtle smile as he motioned with his head to the lynx that perched upon his nape.
The cat meowed gently at the mention of her name, smiling as well as she could manage. Being a feline, relating emotion was rather difficult. Brisa moved toward the pair, extending her muzzle to Note's bonded. The stallion hesitated, looking at Brisa as he sent a mental image of what was happening to Sabel. Another difficult task for this particular feline, for the cat was hopelessly blind. Her pale blue eyes were unable to see, sightless for eternity. She managed, though, for Note acted as her eyes.
After a moment of careful deliberation, Sabel began to sniff around for the mare. Her scent was unfamiliar to the cat, which made it tricky to sort out where she was. She smelled similar to Note, making it increasingly laborious to find Brisa. Once she had sorted out the mental image in her mind, Sabel was able to find the mare's muzzle, letting her soft pink nose touch the mare's skin as she leaned towards her. Note shifted closer to the mare to make it easier on Sabel. While doing so, he lifted his muzzle to Brisa's ear.
"She's somewhat visually impaired," Note whispered, his gaze fixated upon the lynx who had managed to lift a paw up to the mare's face, attempting to set her paw upon her cheek. It was how Sabel got a feel for horses, placing her paw upon them so she could smell her paw later and permanently imprint the smell within her mind. The cat relied on every sense but sight, so it helped her quite a bit.
Note pulled his muzzle away from the mare, realizing how close he had been to actually touching her. His sharp green eyes flittered back up to the gray, a lopsided smile upon his lips. "Like companions?" He asked, speech as short, but seemingly gentle as it had been earlier.
Another quirk about Note. He'd never admit to how gentle he actually was.

Watching the lynx with intent curiosity and adoration she listened to both the stallion who introduced himself as Note and took in their scents. Like her own they both had the saltiness of the ocean that tended to cling to those of residence of their home. Only vaguely did she realize that she could feel the warm breath on her neck as the stallion turned his head to explain why it was that the feline acted the way she did. A pang of sympathy rang through her at the plight of the lynx being blind, at least she was well taken care of by her protector. She couldn't imagine what it would be like for her sight to be taken away, how would she survive? The simple fact is that she wouldn't live, she would never be able to manage walking through life without her precious sight to guide her. Sabel was fortunate to have found a way to cope and she seemed to adjust amazingly well.

As the feline lifted her paw from Note's hide to search for her face she carefully lifted her head so that she would find what she sought. After a moment she pulled her head back to turn to Note. Nodding in answer to his question as to if she liked companions or not she noticed how close they were standing to each other and stepped back slightly so not to be rude by invading their space. " Sabel is beautiful, I have never seen a cat quite like her up close before." She commented a slight smile touching her lips at the thought of what it must be like to have a companion.

A soft sigh escaped her vocals as the songs of birds floated along the wind. "I am so glad that the warm weather has come back again, the cold lasts too long." The sentence was spoken at random as she felt the warmth upon her silvery hide from the overhead sunshine. Only then did she realize how coney it must have sounded to the stallion and his companion. What happened to her suddenly being able to talk without embarrassing herself, guess that went out the window with lightspeed. Talking about the weather, seriously? She was so lame. Heat came into her cheeks at the realization as he stomach continued to flutter around with butterflies. Damn she really needed to get a grip of herself.

Note tried not to stare. He really did. But it was almost impossible not to. Brisa's likeness to Sohalia was not particularly remarkable, but it was enough to trigger emotion within the stallion. If there was anything he hated more than cowardice, it was emotion. He couldn't handle it, so he stopped it. He didn't know how to stop this - this feeling. He didn't know what it was, having lacked the experience to have ever felt it before, but it made his broken heart flutter.
So, the faded bay let his sharp green gaze linger on the mare, ultimately comparing her to Soh. Brisa was taller, obviously lacked wings, was quieter, had two blue eyes, and to top it off, was a different breed entirely. Brisa seemed slightly more shy than Sohalia had ever been as well. Two so alike on the outside, yet the reflection of what lay within separated them into opposite beings entirely.
Sabel's paw was removed from the mare's soft skin, leaning back upon her bonded's nape to sniff the appendage. She found subtle differences in the smell of Brisa and Note. With that, the lynx half crawled, half slipped down Note's neck and onto his withers. She circled once, twice upon his back before lying down and making herself comfortable, sightless eyes staring into the distance.
If the mare hadn't been so infatuated with Sabel, Note would've ignored the cat completely. He watched her out of the corner of his eye as Brisa took a step away from himself. Definitely more shy than Sohalia.
A smile crept up his maw as he listened to Brisa speak of Sabel. He didn't share the same admiration for the cat as she did, but nonetheless, his life would be incomplete without her. "She's the greatest companion I could ever not ask for," Note's words were borderline humorous, but entirely true. He hadn't asked for Sabel, yet he loved her all the same.
'Don't stare, don't stare, don't stare,' Note thought to himself sternly, pulling his bottom lip in between his teeth. 'Don't...stare...' his thoughts faltered as she spoke, losing all his restraints. His sharp green eyes raked over her body, stopping upon her face. Why of all things had she chosen to talk about the weather? The thought lasted momentarily before he decided to just go with it.
"I like Frostfall, it has it's moments of beauty," Note remarked, "but it gets old fairly quickly. This time of year is so refreshing compared to the cold. It's as if the world was dead before now." He flicked his dark gray tail, thinking that Brisa immaculately shimmered in the new rays of light while he was a dull smudge upon the forever evolving landscape. It would always be a mystery to him as to why anyone chose to be around him when he was but a faded blur who existed next to them, but was utterly unable to bring himself to live. Perhaps that would be his personal challenge - to truly live.
With that in mind, the bay whipped up a smidgen of courage and let his features ultimately light up. "If we're just going to randomly say things, then I'd like to randomly ask you a question," Note's lopsided grin was mischievous, a new style of relaying emotion that he had come across unexpectedly. "Do you dream often?"
Sohalia did.

It was a strange occurance when she felt comfortable around another soul, but it was a pleasure not to have to constantly deal with random memories that chose to resurface. Listening quietly to Note speak she let her blue eyes lift to meet his curiously wondering what he was thinking. In some cases she would not want to know another's thought processes but then there were others when she would kill to know certain things. She had heard others talk about the bond a companion shared with with its soulmate, they spoke of it as mind sharing. Was it really possible to be so connected with someone that you could exchange thoughts without ever having spoken a word? Maybe..? At times she had been tempted to ask someone who was bonded but it seemed almost rude to ask about something so private.

As the topics switched at random away from the topic of weather she had pulled out of thin air, tried not to keep her gaze upon Note so not to seem like she was staring. Temptation was torturous when you knew that something was wrong but couldn't seem to resist the pull of the devil. Turning herself slightly to cast a gaze around the field in which they stood she tried to get her mind off the piercing yet handsome stare of the stallion. Did she dream? What kind of question was that? Didn't everyone dream? "I dream yes, sometimes I wish that I didn't though. Some dreams are not exactly pleasant." She replied curious as to why it was he was asking such a strange thing. Turning herself back to face Note she tilted her head slightly studying him for a brief second trying to figure him out.

Many times she had tried to improve her skills at reading someone's expression but not much progress had been made. Certain emotions left tell tale traces behind but there were certain individuals who seemed to mask their feelings. "Why do you ask?" She asked twitching her tail over her sides trying to dispel the pheromone induced tension slowly building within herself. She loved the spring weather but hated it at the same time for it was rather distracting to her senses. Her body displayed unsettling feelings of lust and desire when normally she was not one to flaunt herself so willingly. She seemed to have no control over the way her body reacted to things especially now with a potent male standing only inches from her. It made her feel like dancing around like an idiot, not that she actually let herself do such a thing.

Was there something more behind that strangely warm blue gaze? It was a thought. One that plagued his mind briefly, but existed nonetheless. The look she gave him was lusty, or at least, he took it as that. Wait, was this the beginning of birdsong? The damned season made him hormonal. There wasn't a thing there.
She looked away, leaving Note to stare upon her features with a secret longing. He didn't know if it was for intimacy or companionship, which frightened the seemingly heartless bay more than you'd think. He wasn't fond of either, but impulse was a heavy force that brought a difficult battle and a bloody war.
Note smiled slightly as Brisa looked back at him, answering his question with ease. She sounded curious, tilting her head slightly. He looked away then, turning his head to look at a bird in the sky. An eagle, it seemed. Birdsong brought the greatest birds to watch.
She asked why. Why? That was a complicated question to answer without giving away too much of a past he would rather not delve into. At least, not now. Brisa was still just a mere stranger. Or so he was forced to believe.
"There was once a mare who danced through my life, my dreams," Note began, being as vague as possible, "and she looked quite a bit like you."
There. Good enough. He left it at that, turning his head back to Brisa and smiling mischievously.
"Ever chased a bird?" He inquired, not giving the mare any time to answer and taking off after the eagle. Note was all too grateful for his thoroughbred lines, they enabled him to have a fair amount of speed. Just not for long. He didn't use his wings, he stayed on the ground, silver hooves sparkling in the thin rays of light. As the day had grown on, the thin layer of snow had melted leaving sparse grass. Perfect for a run.
Sabel sprang off her bonded's back, claws extended as they reached for the sky, for the eagle. She was left on the ground, running as fast as her legs would allow, but ultimately giving up as they could not compete with Note. Instead, the lynx started her own chase after a little butterfly, leaving Note and Brisa to chase the eagle.
The bay was not wild. He was trying to feel free. He just happened to like chasing after things he could not have.

Throughout her life to date there had been very few that had entered her radar to leave he with a general lasting impression that proved to carry on through time. Sure the deeds done left their scars both internally and externally making it nearly impossible to push the thoughts away for long. Pieces of her life that she would sadly always remember, but they were a part of her no matter how much she wished they had never happened. If the slate were to be wiped clean leaving her without those memories who would she be? What would she have done? The answers would always remain a mystery but she knew that she would not be the individual she was today if not for the past. While some aspects were positive there was many lessons learned throughout the heartache and pain. Without them could she had survived in a world like this? No matter how many times she had been beat down she had always gotten back up, the easy thing would have been to stay down and give up. That was not who she was, she was a fighter, she wanted to live, she wanted her life to mean something.

As Note answered her question she tried to recall someone that really stood out in her life. Immediately her mind flashed to that of her mother but she was family, who else not related to her left a lasting memory? Maybe it was the dark double horned stallion or perhaps the spotted leopard stud who had rescued her from certain death. Both had played important roles in her life perhaps in a few years they might still stand out to her. Only half paying attention to Note's next question it wasn't until her turned to take off did she clue it to what he was doing. Bird?? What??

Her head automatically turned to watch his galloping figure for a second before she managed to pull together an action. Shaking her head with a smile she sunk down in her haunches mid turn before propelling herself into a gallop of her own. Tossing her head playfully she tried to remember the last time she had allowed herself a bit of fun, it had been awhile. Lifting her feet high with each step she propelled herself faster and faster attempting to catch up with the pegasus. His stride was much longer than her own but her arabic blood helped to sustain her well. You couldn't penalize her for at least attempting to catch up she thought sarcastically just letting herself focus on the task at hand.

Kicking up her heels with a squeal of enjoyment she pulled her head up and pushed her feet deeper into the turf flashing her tail around. Stretching herself out as she galloped she chanced a gaze ahead hoping to close the distance between them.

It was such a shame he didn't look back to see the mare's smile. He would have liked it, seeing a glimmer of happiness within someone cause by his own almost childish actions. But, hey, he liked to chase birds! It was enjoyable to Note. Joy was rarely found in his life, so he took advantage of every moment that may offer such an event.
He bucked and whinnied at the eagle, who in return, only screeched and increased it's flight speed. For a moment, Note was lost in his activity, wings spreading lightly as if eager to open and ascend to the sky. He considered it, but then remembered there was a mare behind him, struggling to keep up with his long stride. So the stallion didn't take flight and his speed decreased not long after he had started the run.
Soon, Note had allowed the mare to gallop by his side, turning his head slightly to watch her shining in the new rays of the sun. She had a very pretty coat compared to his own. His was rough, dull and aged beyond his years. It was covered in scars from his past, and faded from time in the sun.
The beginnings of his lack of endurance began to show. Note hated to slow down, but he had no choice. His endurance wasn't that of his father's or mother's, but a weak in between. He slowed, coming to a stop as the eagle continued on it's way and out of sight. They had been no match for such an agile creature, anyways. It would be a delightful memory nonetheless, chasing the eagle Brisa.
Note took a moment to catch his breath, sides heaving for only a second or two before he turned to Brisa cheerily, faded coat looking lively in the pale sunlight. "I love chasing birds," He partially laughed in an unusually bright manner, smile wide and eyes shining. Everything about the encounter had been unusual for the stallion. He hadn't been as grumpy, or moody, partially because he had wanted to be nice to a fellow Edge member, but now it seemed as if the stallion had taken a liking to the mare.
She wasn't bad company, despite her lack of wings and being no match for his speed, he didn't find her a detriment at all. They were opposites, that was sure, but it wasn't as if Note liked anyone who behaved as he did. He preferred his opposites, they had more life within than he had ever been able to muster.

Joy? Laughter? Fun? When was the last time the mare had ever felt these emotions all together in a matter of a second, maybe once a long while ago in her childhood. Was this happening, really? It was too late to turn back and ask questions now, and she was happy for that. If she had thought for a minute that she would have found a silly old game of chase amusing she likely would have believed herself insane. Maybe she was always verging on the point of insanity, maybe this was her happy medium between her past and present. The thoughts twirled around in her head lightly as she tried to catch up to the pegasus. Fatigue seemed to catch up to the creature of the sky faster than one bound to earth, seeing an opportunity to gain she dug deep pulling herself finally even with the stallion before passing him altogether.

Her stride carried her forward a couple more feet before she dared twist her head around to see where Note had disappeared to. His pace had slowed considerably until he drew himself up to catch his breath, tossing her head with a soft chuckle before dropping her inside shoulder she circled back around breaking into a slow canter. Slowing only as she came within a few feet of the stud she came to a stop facing him to catch her own breath. For an individual who didn't tend to do a lot of cardio workouts she had to admit that she did decently with lasting a fair distance. Huffing softly she still felt rather bouncy even after their short run, maybe it was just that she felt in a exceptional mood.

Acutely aware of the many scents around her she found her mind wandering around only to focus on the masculine odor surrounding her in close proximity. " At least you have a chance to potentially catch them." She commented lightly with a warm smile as her eyes skimmed over the delicate feathers lining Note's wings getting the strangest urge to touch them just to feel what they were like. Were they soft and as silky as they looked or were they coarse and bristly she mused silently. Tearing her eyes away hastily from their path she blushed averting her gaze to something else. Looking up to the sky she scanned around for the bird from earlier but found no trace of it, what it would be like to fly...

The bay took a moment to admire Brisa. The way she ever so elegantly smiled back at him as he slowed his pace, her easy canter, her coat shining in the sunlight. She was beautiful to say the least. She reminded him of Sohalia all too much, but he did his best to push the thought out of his mind. Brisa was not Soh. Not at all. They shared a few characteristics, but were different on the inside. Nevertheless, Note had difficulty taking his eyes off of her.
She came close, smiling. She pointed out the fact that he had wings, which amused Note. A light grin flittered onto his ashen lips as ruffled his feathers. "The fun is in the chase, not the catch," Note stated, watching Brisa glance away from him. He had never met an individual so shy. Or maybe she was just innocent.
He stepped closer, sharp green orbs catching her own aqua ones. Note tenderly reached out his muzzle, brushing his lips against her cheek. He enjoyed pushing boundaries of mares, and this was certainly one way to do it. He extended a wing in front of the fem, silky feathers glinting in the sunlight.
"Would you like a feather?" Note asked, obviously bemused. He had given out very few feathers in his lifetime, but Brisa had stared at the appendages in a way that made him want to give her one. Plus, watching a hormonal, shy (innocent?) mare react to him pulling stunts such as these were all too fun.

Oh what it would be like to fly above the ground, it would be amazing she imagined. A simple way to leave all the problems on the ground and just forget for a little while, to just lose yourself and pretend to be someone else for awhile. It was funny how those who didn’t have something such as wings always wanted to experience what it would be like to have them even if it was just for a moment. Being confined to the ground her entire life she knew not what things would look like from a different perspective, would her outlook on life change, or would things still be the same? The answer to that would always remain a mystery unless she sporadically sprouted wings. As her eyes examined the delicate feathers adorning Note’s wings she wondered how such things could actually keep you afloat when gravity pulled you down constantly.

The soft touch upon her cheek drew her back down from the clouds. When had he gotten so close? Wow she really must have been out to lunch to not notice that, not that she really minded at this particular moment. Her body was too reactive from all the hormones flooding her bloodstream for her to really care; it was what it wanted after all or at least along the lines of what it expected. Leaning her head into his touch she smiled raising her eyes to meet his for a second or two before stepping in closer to him. Her skin prickled at the contact making her shiver slightly but in a good way, at least it felt good. Sighing softly she felt calm and antsy all at the same time making her fidget slightly as if trying to stomp on all of the butterflies doing laps of her gut. Tilting her head to the right her brow furrowed slightly as the stallion extended his wing to her before asking if she wished to have a feather. “ I couldn’t.. I mean they are yours, I wouldn't want to hurt you by pulling one out.” She replied not exactly sure how to react to the proposition of taking a feather from Note.

The feathers were beautiful but she would hate to wreck the perfect array of them all together. She was rather liking everything about the way the stallion looked she didn't want to spoil it in anyway by even a feather. Wait did she just admit to herself that he was handsome? Crap… she was already being lost in his charm so much for being resilient she thought to herself. There was no escaping the good old charm of Mother Nature it was just something that happened without too much thought. It would be interesting to see what would happen next.

Love was an emotion Note knew all too well. On the other hand, solicitude was still a foreign emotion to him. Concern and care he felt, but could not put into words or actions. He mulled upon the possibility of this contributing to his cold demeanor and inability to be nice to others. It was a broken part of the stallion, but with work, he hoped to be able to mend it. Maybe that was why bad people were so bad, because they never put in the effort to be some form of good.
To Note's pleasant surprise, the mare did not shy from his touch. She leaned into it, subtle, but almost eager. At least she was paying attention to him now, and not the clouds. A wandering mind was always nice, but not so good for conversation. She declined a feather in the most sincere tone, as if she actually cared about hurting him. He had lost feathers before and it did not ache as much as other pains he had been so unfortunate in feeling.
For a brief moment, Note snapped out of his hormonal state, ears swiveling as he realized his companion was nowhere in sight. They were completely and utterly alone. 'Sabel?' the bay questioned through the bond, his voice sounding dire and overprotective. What if she fell off a cliff? This was an insane possibility due to the fact that there weren't any life-threatening cliffs around. But still. 'Stop panicking, I'm hunting. You're breaking concentration. Catch you later,' the cat replied moments later, sounding annoyed. The lynx was all right. A wave of relief washed upon the stallion as he turned his attention back to Brisa. He leaned into the touch a bit more, slipping back into his hormone-driven state.
"It really doesn't hurt," came the stallions voice in a whisper, eyes half open. It became apparent to Note then that he was drowning in hormones. It was only partially her fault. The touch he had given her, which was a pretty normal touch he gave out to push boundaries for fun, had set off much more within the stallion this time. If only she had backed away sooner, then perhaps their relationship would have become much less complicated.

Thinking long and hard for a moment or two in the rather hormone smothered brain of hers she really couldn't remember the last time she had been charmed by a stallion. Normally it was all just force and venom that created such an outcome this was in fact quite the opposite, maybe she was even contributing to their situation without really knowing it. There was always talk going around about how some mares were beyond flirtatious when it came to trying to pick up stallions but come to think about it she really hadn't the slightest idea on what flirting was. The thought was so foreign and strange to her, she had never been one to try and attract such attention in the first place.

Feeling the heated gaze return to her face once more she smiled tipping her head slightly towards her chest with embarrassment feeling her cheeks heat. She was definitely not used to be the focus of attention, but in her current state she had to admit she was rather liking it. Her heart pounded steadily in her chest tuning out all other sounds from around them. It was as if the rest of the world had dissolved around them suspending them in their own bubble. Her body became achingly aware of each tiny movement, each subtle scent, each visual detail of the handsome stallion beside her.

Pressing again into his touch she felt her muscles tighten locking her long legs making her feel like she was floating. Inhaling deeply she gathered what courage she had before reaching her soft muzzle to nip playfully at the muscular shoulders before her. A spark had lit within her eyes as she carefully watched for his reaction, a smirk creeping into her facial features. She wanted whatever came next in their rather complicated relationship and if she could read his posture and actions correctly so did the pegasus.

A sea of stars cloaked the sky, the only light to showcase the aftermath was the gentle rays of the moon. The world was lively at this hour, nocturnal beasts lurking in the shadows, soft chirps of incests were loud for such tiny creatures. He found it strange that they could so easily be heard, but rarely seen.
'Note?' came Sabel's whimper as she dragged her claws softly down his canon bone. He ignored her. The dull bay's mind was foggy and he couldn't tell if it was because of the fact he had just woken up, or due to disbelief. He reasoned it was a deathly mixture of each.
He didn't know how to feel either. He wasn't angry or happy. The tyranny of guilt reigned his soul instead. He had met sweet Brisa that day and their relationship had quickly taken a nosedive into the ever-so-frightening "it's complicated" stage.
A shaky sigh left Note's lungs at this realization as he looked down upon the gray mare, he had risen himself moments before, when Sabel had finally caught up with the pair. The dull bay let his head drop, muzzle finding it's way to the mare's poll from where he stood behind her. "Oh little dove, what have we done?" He murmured, voice almost inaudible. Even his bright green eyes were darkened and dismayed by his misconduct.
He didn't know where they would go from here, but he knew he couldn't just leave Brisa out here alone. Note moved away from Sabel and the light colored mare, walking to a patch of green looking grass to graze momentarily. Just until Brisa woke, or until his mind stopped thinking so much to allow him sleep as well.
Sabel's confusion probably wouldn't let him do such a thing any time soon. She bounded over to her bonded, hissing slightly. 'Note, please! What happen with you?!' The lanky cat pleaded, standing by her bonded's head as he plucked grassed from the ground. 'Silence is maddening, isn't it, Sabel? I'll explain everything tomorrow,' came the stallion's disheartened reply. A frustrated Sabel stomped away, ruffling up a patch of mostly dead foliage a few feet away from the pair in order to make a nest. She was asleep in seconds, fuming anger slowly slipping away.
'Now it's only me and my thoughts,' Note mused, chewing on the green foliage, thinking of how loud those incests were.

Having fallen into a peaceful sleep as the day finally drew to a close she found herself feeling tired but for the first time in awhile happy. The days events had not exactly gone as planned when she had met the pegasus stallion on one of her usual walks, but it did rather complicate their friendship. Everything had started off well until the hormones between the two of them got in the way to have their say in their future. What would come of their encounter in the long term? The thought mattered little to her at the moment as she just wanted to focus on the peace she had found for the time being, after the true aftermath set it a few days from now then she would give it more thought. Until then she just allowed herself to enjoy the calm quiet night and the warmth of Note beside her.

The first thing that roused her from her sleep was the feeling of the cool air against her skin where there had been warmth from the close proximity of the pegasus. The softness of his voice as he spoke was comforting but there was something more there as the lyrics registered within her foggy brain. Staying still for a few more moments she gave herself time to wake up before lifting her head as casting a gaze over to the silhouetted stallion where he stood grazing nearby. Indeed, what had they done. Pulling her legs from under her she eased herself to her feet stepping forward with a soft sigh. Reaching over with her muzzle she gently touched her nose to Note's side gazing up to him trying to figure out where his mind was. Was he angry? Disappointed? Happy? It was hard to tell from his neutral gaze, what was going on in his head she wondered. " Is everything alright?" she asked softly, she had noticed Sabel had returned from wherever she had gone had something happened?

When the sun rose up again where would that leave the pair of them, did they just go their separate ways like nothing had happened? They couldn't very well avoid each other being that they shared the same herdland, where did they go from here? While the answers were important she did not want to ruin the mood by bringing them up prematurely, they could wait for another while.

Note flicked an ear backwards as he heard Brisa rustling. His eyes had not yet found her, and his body slipped into battle mode without him even realizing it. Sleepless nights full of unexpected fights had done him no good in the long run. At the end of his wings, flames licked off the feathers, a response to his emotions. The worst thing about his magic was that it responded only to his emotions. Why couldn't it be set off by something else, like an actual command?
Nevertheless, the flames were harmless. They disappeared once he had fully registered that it was just Brisa, neck outstretched to touch his side. His tensed muscles relaxed, and he stopped his munching to cast his bright green gaze at the mare. "Is everything alright?" came her gentle voice. It was almost tentative.
A weak smile graced Note's ashen lips. He moved his muzzle to hers, skin tingling at the touch. "I was just thinking," He stated simply, hesitating as he thought over his next words. This time, his thoughts needed to be voiced. They concerned Brisa after all.
"Where do you want us to go from here? I mean, what am I to you?" He fumbled with the words, shyly flicking his ears back. If horses could blush, he would most certainly be doing so. Surprisingly enough, Note retained a sheepish smile.
Normally, the dull bay would be a lot less nice about asking such questions. He would be worried, anxious, but Brisa had brought out the most wonderful side of him. A shy, youthful side of Note shone through his emotionless, spiteful exterior. It wasn't as if he had ever seen it before, though. It confused the stallion, but made him giddy at the same time. But he wasn't sure if it was something he would be able to get used to.
Sabel was the one most confused by her bonded. She knew a grumpy, snappy Note. This was not her Note. Her ears were pricked towards the conversation, excitement and jealousy pouring off the cat in waves. She was happy he was being less of an asshat, but why couldn't she be the one to bring out this side of him?

Emotions were the one thing that the grey mare had difficulty reading in both herself and in others. After living a life of many horrors up until she had come to this place she found herself touched by any act of kindness towards her. She had spent so much time wishing to find a place such as this it was still hard to believe it was real, and she was actually alive. Standing here beside the pegasus she felt safe and content, it was a feeling she would like to hold onto if she could but she knew that it did not work that way. She could never stay with the pegasus if she knew that he did not feel the same way towards her. In the short time that she had gotten to know him she had seen witnessed his kindness and gotten a snapshot of the personality underneath the collected mask he had worn in the early part of their encounter. Her heart once a broken shell could be felt beating again to a different rhythm, a much happier one.

The flames she had caught out of the corner of her eye had not frightened her but instead drew her closer, if she had to guess there was much more to the story that she had yet to discover but somewhere she was willing to bet there was pain or fear. The discovery of her own magic had come as a surprise and she was slowly starting to realize that it varied depending upon her emotions. Was Note's magic based along the same concept?

The question that came next mirrored the many insecurities she also felt deep inside but didn't know how to put them into words. What was he to her? A friend? No, friend didn't dare come close to what her heart was telling her but was she right to listen to it after it had let her down so many times before? Things were indeed complicated, but did they really have to be? " To be honest, I don't know where things will go from here. But you mean a lot more to me than just a friend, I don't want to go back to just being strangers." She replied her voice soft but surprisingly steady for once. Many emotions cluttered her mind that ranged from happiness, to unease to fear. She had a fear of being turned away and rejected when she had just spoken from her heart, but the unease came from the uncertainty of the road ahead. Should more come of their encounter she feared that she would fail as a mother and even worse have to struggle through it alone.

" I..I want things to be more.." Hesitating a little she took a breath before continuing. " But what is it that you want? I mean..do you.." Trailing off as the words failed to come to her lips she decided it would be best to just stop talking before she made a complete idiot of herself. Leaning her head into the warmth of Note's neck she tried to hide her embarrassment. What if he didn't feel the same way.. could she bring herself to walk away and act as if nothing ever happened? The idea was hard enough to even think about nevermind trying to actually follow through with it, she could only pray she would never have to attempt it.
