As the time passed onward things began changing around him rapidly without really letting him catch up with it all. The joyous news of their child brought a mixture or nerves and ultimate happiness all at the same time. Starting a family had always been a goal of his but now that it was happening it was quite a shocker and the ultimate dose of reality. As his mate and him watched their product of love grow he knew that it was not possible to love someone more than how he felt towards the pegasus mare. As her belly grew he watched over her in amazement wondering each and every day how had he gotten so lucky for her to love him so much. Throughout the first two trimesters his worries were kept to a minimum as everything appeared to be normal, or what he would consider as normal not really knowing a damn thing about this whole pregnancy thing. Sure he had seen it from a far with others but up until now never experienced it first hand. It was full of surprises for sure, from mood swings to apparent hormonal moodiness it was sure a rollercoaster that kept you on your toes.

As the final weeks approached his normal wanderings all but ceased to only those he needed to perform to uphold his guardian duties for the Hidden Falls. While they had no real idea on how long this kind of thing actually took he had a decent idea in his head based on what he had observed over the years, so he tried to keep a close eye as the time period seemed to close in. The more time that elapsed beyond the more he began to worry about both of their safety. What if something was wrong, what could he do? Should he get a medic or just wait patiently not knowing. The decision was nerveracking all in itself and he couldn't help but worry of the size difference between himself and Parelia. Did that have something to do with things taking longer that what seemed normal?

A low growl sounded from the black and white tigress as she watched her bonded slowly wearing a hole into the earth with his back and forth pacing. The grey ignored her not able stand still even for a minute as he awaited the arrival of the Pegasus. They had agreed to meet here hours ago but she was still no where to be seen. He contemplated retracing his steps from the Falls in an attempt to find her but did not want to miss her should she show up here. When he had left her to run the borders of their home she had been perfectly content and well despite her swollen belly making her slightly more tired than usual. Where was she? Had something happened between here and the Falls that he did not know about? His stomach was in knots as tension radiated from him like rays from the sun, normally he was patient but right now he was beyond worried. Kiara had attempted to soothe his nerves many times but finally given up and retired herself to watch from nearby his near frantic pacing.

Each snap of a twig or rustle of the leaves snapped his attention to high alert hoping to see his beloved emerge from the trees. When she didn't it only added to his stress level and ever growing concern, he had quite literally worn a dirt path along the strip he had been travelling along from repeated pacing. Many times he had contemplated asking Kiara to wander back in the direction of home to see if she could come across her but each time he withheld as she was still young and he did not want to lose her as well. At least he knew she was not it any trouble if he could see her visually.

A yawn exploded from warm velvet lips as the cremello paint mare woke from her nap. Honey orbs gazed happily up at the clear blue sky, a warm breeze was ruffling her short mane. Her enlarged sides seemed to go on forever as she lay on the ground. Carrying all of the extra weight around wore her down faster than she had ever imagined it would. A soft screech made the gentle mare turn warm eyes towards the tree she was resting over. Her bonded at gazing down on her, he had kept watch as his soul-mate slept, but it was long passed time for them to be moving on. Parelia squinted as she tried to see what the position of the warm sun. 'Oh no! I've slept way to long!' She thought struggling to her hooves. Grunting with the effort she had to pause and breath; dainty head hovering above the ground.

Once she caught her breath again the mare started int he direction of the meeting place. She had agreed to meet her dappled knight earlier that day before he went off to patrol the borders. 'He must be worried sick by now Penna.' She pushed her thoughts towards her bonded as he took wing to follow above her head. In her pregnant state she was forced to a shuffling walk, instead of the thundering canter she longed for. Would he be angry that she had been late? A warm chuckle escaped her lunges, of course he would not be angry with her. He was the best stallion she had ever met; caring, brave, patient, and very worried. Shaking her head warmly she pushed on.

Cream and teal wings were pulled close to her once slender body, oh how she missed the feeling of soaring freely. She had banned herself from flying until her baby had been born, in case her delicate wings could not hold the extra weight. A sudden pain in her stomach brought her senses back. The pain continued a hard throbbing stabbing through her intestines, causing her to gasp for her. Once the blinding pain ebbed she pushed on, thinking it was just her baby moving around. After several more episodes she was finally topping the rise beside the Rotunda.

Sweat turned her slick pelt darker and her sides heaved with the effort of drawing deep breaths. Honey brown orbs sought out her love praying he would still be there, waiting for her; he didn't disappoint her either. "Hey handsome, making a trail for me to follow?" Her voice was warm her lips pulled up in a smile. As she neared him the pain started again making her pull up short. Her long elegant neck twisted towards her swollen sides her pretty face screwed up against the pain. As the falcon wheeled over head in circles fear running through his feathered frame.

Striking out with his front hoof he felt it slice into the soft earth sending dirt flying off to his side, this was taking way too long she should be here by now. Scanning the tree line once more before turning on heel to yet again retrace his path he seriously contemplated just going to search for her already. Grumbling something under his breath he tried to focus on trying to keep himself calm, she would show up soon right? Where had she gotten too? In a way he was glad that no other equine had appeared thus far as while he was stressing as much as he was now his temper could flare at random, the last thing he wanted to happen ever. Inhaling a deep breath he was disappointed to find no trace of the ever so familiar scent of Parelia within range, Penna would have come to him if something had happened, he thought silently trying to think logically.

"Hey handsome, making a trail for me to follow?" Whipping his head around at the sound he finally found the one who he was searching for. A whinny greeted the mare as relief poured over him like a tidal wave, it was about time that she arrived! Even Kiara seemed beyond relieved to see both the mare and her companion as she jumped up from where she was laying. In a split second things turned from pure happiness to extreme concern as he watched something change upon Parelia’s face before she turned to look at her side. It took him a matter of seconds to clear the remaining distance between them as his eyes scanned over her entire frame, what was wrong? “Parelia? Are you alright? What happened are you hurt?!?”

Turning his nose gently to her neck he did not like the sheen upon her coat or the apparent pain contorting her beautiful face. What could he do? Should he go get help? The icy feeling returned to his extremities making his blood run cold. He could stand most things that life could throw at him but to think of his mate hurting nearly tore him apart knowing there was nothing he could do other than be there for her. Maybe the baby had just moved or something? How long had she been walking, was the sweat from the trip? He should never have agreed to travel here, he should have insisted of staying near the herd what was he thinking? “Parelia? Maybe we should go home if you are unwell, I don’t mind. What is hurting you?

A familiar voice caught her harks, causing been to stretch them forward eagerly. Starting at a swift prance, she made her way to the Rotunda,  and soon she came across two familiar faces, that of Ciceron,  the Stallion who had introduced her to the Falls, and his mate, Parelia.  As the lady neared, the fear in the hear made her breast explode with curiosity and worry, for she considered them both friends. Pressing into a canter, she slid into the scene next to Ciceron,  but careful not to collide with him. She nodded her dome in a greeting gesture before setting her gaze upon Pare,  her sides swollen,  and features etched with pain. As quickly as she came, Abi ran off hurriedly to the nearest tree, flexing her hind leg muscles and raising herself into a controlled rear, she parted her maw and snatched her pearls on to the soft, new leaves, ripping them down with ease. As soon as her hooves touched the ground, she was off at a urgent pace, skidding to a stop, and dropping the leaves just to the right of Pare.

Memories flashed before her, the ebony mare, laid on her side, breathing heavily as her little precious flopped to the dry earth. Then, she had been aide to her latina friend, Province, and helped her give birth, learning how from Province's father, Fallen,  plenty techniques to Help a mare bare her child. Shaking her dome slightly, she turned to Ciceron,  her orbs full of joy. "Sir Ciceron,  do me a favor and grab some more leaves, lay them there if you will, so she will be comfortable. " Her head then swung to Parelia,  horn glinting."Hello darling. In just a moment we will have a soft place for you. I'M here to Help you. I learned some tactics awhile ago from a friend. Just relax your muscles, once Ciceron has a place for you, you can go right ahead and ease down. "

It was next to impossible to keep himself calm when here was the one mare he cared about more than anything else standing next to him in pain. If only there was something that he could do to take away her pain. The interior of his mind was panicking wildly yet somehow on the outside he managed to remain mostly calm despite the obvious worry for his family. Placing his muscular neck over Parelia's he tried to comfort her whatever way he could stroking her damp skin with his muzzle. Casting a worried gaze over her swollen frame he tried to not think about anything going potentially wrong. Kiara roused from where she had been laying to venture closer sensing the tension, her blue eyes filled with wariness. She didn't like when there was something new or unfamiliar that affected her bonded like this. Above her she could see the mare's bird hovering with the same kind of concern, what was going on?

From behind him his ears flicked back at the sound of approaching hooves, instinctively his harks flattened to his head in irritation as a wave of protectiveness rolled over him. Twisting his head around as quickly as a snake he turned to meet the intruder ready to chase whoever it was off. Recognition softened his threat as his silver eyes fell upon the other mare Abishia hurrying onto the scene with a look of determination upon her face. What the..? Furrowing his brow slightly as he watched her carefully he tried to figure out what she was doing. Watching over his Parelia with the fierceness of a wolverine he was half tempted to ask the other mare to leave them so not to cause Parelia anymore distress. Before a decision was made a request was made of him politely by the painted mare before her attention was averted to Parelia. Lingering a moment longer he did not wish to leave her side but decided to listen to the mares instructions as he heard her explanation. Painfully he pulled himself away making himself move with a purpose to gather the leaves as shown so he could return as quickly as possible to his mate's side.

Snatching a mouthful of leaves in one quick movement he landed back upon all fours not exactly satisfied with the amount he had managed to grab. Jumping up to grab them would take too long for his liking so he decided to improvise. Dropping his right shoulder he gathered his mass before flinging himself into the trunk of the tree. The impact caused the tree to shudder under his weight but more importantly shaking loose a shower of leaves. Flexing his shoulder he ignored the burning from where his skin had impacted the rough bark and turned to pushing the leaves into a small pile around Parelia. Satisfied he returned to his mate gently reaching out to her again hoping the pain would have passed by now. Wickering softly as he touched his muzzle into Parelia's neck he wished desperately the pain would cease. His attention was vastly focused on his mate but a portion of it managed to keep watch over what Abishia was now doing. Did she even have any idea what she was doing?

The blinding pain slowly subsided as her lover's last words slowly sunk in drawing a soft pained smile over her maw. "I'm fine Ciceron, the baby is just moving or..." Her words drifted away as she realized what was really happening. Excitement and worry coursed through her veins, like liquid sandpaper. Her voice did not betray the chaos of emotions in her mind, "We're about to have our little one." Honey orbs flashing with joy as she rubbing her chiseled face against his strong reassuring neck. Instinct started to kick in and she spoke again, "We wont be able to make it back in..." Her voice ended abruptly as the silver stud's ears pinned and he whirled. At the same instant Penna screeched, but it was not in fear for his soul-mate, because he recognized the mare approaching them. The falcon dove with all the swiftness of breeding, hurtling towards the four creatures below him. He landed awkwardly next to the stallion's tiger watching the miracle unfolding before them.

Pain gripped her body again causing a groan to seep from her velvety lips. The painted mare slide to a stop next to Ciceron, then turned and raced away again. As the mare returned the pain dulled, but was still present, it was almost time. She smiled gratefully at the familiar face before her; Abishia. Her gaze fell on the shimmering horn and curiosity flashed in her mind for a moment before the mare spoke. Parelia nodded towards Ciceron, "Go I'll be fine, but hurry love. Thank you Abishia." She paused while her silver knight cantered away, once he was out of ear shot she spoke again. Her words were cased in worry, "I'll be honest, I'm scared. This is my first foal. I am so glad your here." The was word came out with a groan as pain racked her body, causing a visible shiver to run down her swollen frame.

She reached her muzzle towards her love as he gently touched her neck breathing in his warm scent before lowering her body onto the fresh leaves. She sighed heavily enjoying the soft bed as pain contracted her body. Ever fiber of her being was screaming for her to help the process along, which she did her head flopping to the ground neck stretched out in the effort. Snorting she paused breathing deeply before turning gentle eyes towards her mate, "I'll be fine love, do as Abishia says." Snorting she stretched again her sides quivering as more pain blinded her.

The words spoken by the pegasus had always had a stunning effect to the lovestruck stallion but he had never really known the meaning of stunned until she spoke of what was going on. The thoughts of fatherhood had always been on his mind ever since the day their wish had been granted but it never seemed to be in the immediate future. Well now it sure was! He was going to be a father...soon..very soon! It was almost beyond his comprehension at this point in time but it was really happening.

The pained groan that escaped the sweet mare's lips drew him back from his fantasy world even though his feet still felt miles from this earth. This was really happening, what could he do? Watching Parelia try and manage through the tremors of pain made him cringe in sympathy, this was one thing that he never wanted to experience but it was a fact of life. Mares somehow managed to get through it by some miracle but it was never pretty nor easy. This was the first time he would get to see the process unfold before him and to tell you the truth he was scared. What would their baby be like? Would it even like him or know who he was?

Glancing over to Abishia he wondered how it was she knew so much about what to expect he didn't strike him as a mare who would have conceived before based on her age, but you never knew. Dropping his head he gently pushed the long tendrils of hair back from over Parelia's eyes wanting to comfort her in some way but not knowing how. Should he even be here, would she rather be left alone until this was over? Some mares seemed to disappear for a period of time before returning with their foals, he wouldn't want to leave but he would if it was what she wished. " You are doing great, things will be over shortly... Would you like for me to stay with you or did you want some privacy with Abishia? I won't leave unless you want me to." He whispered softly, his lips by her ear closest to him. As he waited for an answer he let his muzzle trail lightly over Parelia's damp skin. Every couple minutes or so his eyes wandered cautiously over her swollen frame curious as to what was going on but also hoping to make sure everything seemed to be going alright.

She remembered the assuring words of Province,  her soft voice echoing through her mind, putting an ease to the filly's thoughts. Although scared, she knew what the basics where, so she was sure that she could Help Pareila,  her friend. And hopefully now, through this experience,  their friendship will grow, and maybe a new friendship will be formed when the precious package is delivered.

Her lobes flick to and fro,  shifting her Wait from side to side as she watches Ciceron,  his nervous movements, the scent of fear wafting from him. He scurried off just a moment after the girl tells him to, the hesitancy apparent in his movements. But he does so, racing off and gathering as he was told. But it is the voice of Pare that has her ripping her gaze from Ciceron.  She is scared, but wants to stay strong for her mate. With a glance to her bird companion, Abishia smiles softly. "My dear friend, do not feel fear. I am here, I will assist to the best of my ability. " She reached out, carries caressing the mare's protruding side with soft velvetines."All is well."  When he laid down the leaves and Pare lowered herself, Abi smiled to the Stallion, nodding her dished dome to him before turning her focus back to the mare lying just by her feet, so vulnerable, in such pain, that it made her worry. What if what I know isn't enough to Help? What if I make a mistake, and cost the lives of them both. The doubts where soon pushed away when Pare spoke, her voice straining with pain, but still soft and friendly. She smiled and nodded. It was a great feeling to know that another depending on ones self, to know that you are their saving grace. "Yes, No worries Ciceron. I promise I will do nothing to harm her, or your little precious. This is an amazing moment. New life is something to be rejoiced, not feared." And only moments after she spoke, her harks flicked to catch Ciceron's words. A polite Stallion. This mare was quite lucky to score such a charming brute. But in Abishia's own opinion, he should stay. It will bind him to the baby... Force him to build a bond upon mother's pain and father's relief. Stallions are unpredictable.

She tilted her head slightly, but then bent her knees, lowering herself to the ground softly at Pare's side. In a rythmic motion, she carried her muzzle softly along the lady's side many times to calm her. Within moments, the air was filled with Abishia's humming, a beautiful, mother like tone. Warm, urging Pare to stay at rest, to not panic."Darling, you can stop speaking now. Everything is fine. I've got you. Now take deep breaths, in and out. Don't panic, stay calm. "

As he love spoke shock flashed through her tired body. She was speechless for a moment, even though in her head she was screaming about hos insane he was. Before she could find the words to answer the pain made her body ripple harder, her sides contracting. Snorting as she pushed with all her might she relaxed as the pain subsided. Even though her voice was shaking it was laced with laughter, "Oh my silly knight, of course I want you to stay! I want you to be the first to greet our foal into this world. This moment isn't just for me and the baby, but for you as well." She smiled warmly as her chiseled head lifted to gaze up into his silver eyes. Abisha's gentle voice made her look around a smile still on her face. "I don't think you'll have to help me for much longer dear." Her sides heaved again as another contraction forced her body to shove against itself.

Bright honey lanterns were shut tight, but flicked slightly open as a muzzle stroked her heaving sides. She smiled softly at the young mare's touch focusing on her gentle movements. As inexperienced in childbirth as she was Parelia could tell her time in labor was drawing short. 'It must have been all the walking I did to get here.' She decided if she ever was to bear another child she would walk as much as possible. Sure walking had been good for both her and her baby. Penna cooed softly from his perch trying to push away the pain that his bonded was feeling. He was just as worried if not more so than the stallion he was growing to trust. After this he would surely trust the male and this filly almost as much as his soul-mate, but not quite as much.

At Ciceron's touch she relaxed for a moment breathing heavily to keep her strength up. The worst bought of pain she had suffered yet sized her sweaty exhausted body. The cremello heaved against the pain and pressure on her hips forcing her tiny babe out into the world. After a grunt and a soft thump the mare stilled, besides her heavy breathing. Silence seemed to pound into her delicate ears almost making tears fill her eyes. it could have been seconds, but it felt like years before a tiny sneeze wrenched the air. Relieve filled every inch of her tired body as the tiny colt behind her shook his head sneezing in an attempt to clear his lunges.

After a few minutes the mare lifted her dainty head and turned to lay her eyes on her first born. She gasped softly at his beautiful pelt. "Oh Ciceron he is stunning!" Her voice was warm and awestruck. The foal lifted his head and turned bright silver eyes to gaze on his mother, her heart melted. She took in his slightly dappled silver buckskin pelt with elegant teal ivy markings racing over his legs and over his eyes, like a mask. Next her searching eyes fell over the short black and teal streaked spiral horn protruding on his high proud forehead. At least she forced herself to look at his strong back. Excitement filled her like a river in the rainy season, wings. 'Thank the gods!' She thought silently not waiting to betray her relief. He had two stunning, tiny, hawk-like wings; they were teal and silver and silky. "It's a colt love. What should we name him?" She turned her love-struck gaze onto her silver knight reviling in the moment.

To feel useless is one of the worst feelings on the face of this earth, no matter how long or how hard you think nothing will ever be able to change that you cannot be of any help. It pained him greatly to see the pain each contraction brought as it ripped through his mate for what seemed like hours. He made an effort to conceal his worry and fear from Parelia as he did not want to make her upset or to worry her more than she already was, he knew the fear portrayed behind her honey orbs despite her not mentioning it verbally. Eventually he let his knees buckle and his body carefully rest down behind the mare as he pulled her head gently closer to him as he stroked her cheek softly with his muzzle. Compared to his own body hers was an inferno, hot to the touch and coated in sweat. The way he had positioned his body gave her enough room to be away if she wanted or to lean against his mass for support.

Flicking his ear towards Abishia he listened to the sound of her humming and had to admit that he was glad that she had come despite his earlier reaction. His gaze lingered to the miracle of life as he watched his son or daughter enter the world. As the shoulders finally slid free his breath caught in his throat praying that everyone would be alright, it had to be alright. Pricking his ears forward seeing the tiny bundle move at last a cheerful whicker escaped his throat in complete joy. Reaching down he affectionately nuzzled Parelia's neck a smile lighting up his face at the amazement. Their colt was beautiful with its small delicate wings and the tiny horn bud upon his forehead, he was perfect in every way. " Its hard to believe he is ours. I told you that you would be amazing." He replied softly his lips against her ear as together they watched their son.

The markings upon the colts legs and face surprised him for some reason as he had never really thought about his marks being inheritable, but he wouldn't change one thing about their perfectly handsome colt. It was tempting to reach out to the colt but he withheld knowing that it should be his mother that he got to greet first, she was the one who had done all the work. Gently extracting himself he pulled himself back to his feet so that Parelia could move should she wish to. He wouldn't blame her should she need to rest for awhile longer, but he was not going anywhere he would be right by her side the entire time. He had given some thought to the name of their baby and decided to suggest the first name he had come to in the long list of possibilities. "What do you think of Ilios?"

Parelia sighed happily as her colt sneezed and snorted clearing his nostrils and lunges. She smiled softly unable to control her feels any longer. She forced herself to move slow as she stretched her neck out reaching for her newborn longing to touch his handsome pelt. Silver eyes watched her hesitating for only a second before reaching back. As their muzzles touched flames of pure love and joy like she had never known flew through her veins. This was her baby, her first and only foal. She knew instantly she would do anything to protect him, even if that meant laying down her own young life. Her velvety soft lips rubbed along his small face drawing in ever last trace of his warm musty scent.

Ciceron's warm touch pulled her attention back to look at her knight. She was smiling brightly her honey orbs shinning brightly. Her voice was warm and tired, "Yes you did love, and you were very right." She nuzzled his steel dappled neck softly before reaching back to her foal. Parelia sighed happily before drawing in a deep breath gathering her strength. Her instincts were telling the mare to stand and urge her sweet colt to stand. Rocking backward the forward she extended her fore legs and pulled her slightly deflated frame up.

Her voice was warm and gentle, "Come sweetheart, you need to try and get up now." She reached down and carefully nudged his, almost, dry sides. He shifted awkwardly, trying to pull his mile long legs in squeaking softly as he did so. Parelia couldn't help but think about how cute he was, even if he was very awkward and gangly. He tried and tried to get up, before he finally pulled his legs under him and stood. He was very shaky as he attempted just to keep his balance. The cremello mare nickered softly trying to draw him the foot or so closer towards her. He took a shaky stumbling step then another. Parelia didn't have much experience with newborn foals, but she was sure it was unusual for a foal to walk so easily after birth.

He soon made it to her side, and tucked his head under her belly. She jumped slightly then sighed her tail swishing lightly with her pure joy. She smiled at Abishia and Ciceron she figured the mare was being polite allowing the three to bond, since she hadn't said anything yet. She turned her attention to Ciceron, "I think it is about time we return to the herd, as soon as we give us a little bit to rest and gain some strength." She forced a smile onto her face. She knew her knight would feel safer with the herd, even if she would not.
