Deception and perfection are wonderful traits
One will breed love, the other hate

The season was in full swing and the falls was flourishing in the new life of Birdsong. Everywhere animals nursed their young, the birds sang more often and the forage flourished greater in quantity. The land of cascades burst into life and left winters grip far behind, the heat of the sun warming the earth and the backs of horses. Brightly, the hot rays kissed the dark fur of Ghost who was taking a rare break from patrolling the skies to crop at the grass. In the vast land of grass and a more stagnant lifestyle of a herd, Ghost found she had more time to care for her own health and her eating habits had become much better. Thus, she now sported a well toned, well fed body and her coat shone in good condition. Birdsong agreed with Ghost even if it did clash with her personality some what, but perhaps surprisingly the mare preferred the warmer months. Just like she had a soft area for the beach. Even the stone faced sprite had things she simply loved about life, not that she would ever let on however.

The grass filled her mouth and sated her hunger as she looked about her surroundings. The place she lived in was the grandest place she had ever laid eyes on, though appearances didn't really matter to Ghost, she could admit it was like living in a palace. She would return to patrol after her lunch, there was nothing else much for her to do other than watch for the sordid enemy that had challenged Seele. It wasn't that Ghost was particularly angry about it, nor would she have really cared much if Seele had succumbed to her injuries, it wasn't good willed loyalty that made Ghost follow the Necromancer either. Simply, she needed to belong, to be needed; to be useful. At the moment, she was useful to Seele and that was enough. For her first two youthful years there had been no one who had needed her. A purposeless life was a dead one in Ghost's eyes. She sought never to feel like that again.

Letting out a soft snort she chewed the last bit of grass before looking upwards towards the sky, contemplating where she should patrol next or whether it would be a good idea to venture outside the borders for a few hours.

Frustration filled Rohesia as she tried to navigate the new area without any help at all. Every part of the land was beautiful, but it was so very different from anything she had ever experienced. The slick grass and steep slopes made her footing uneasy and had her slipping and sliding all over the place. She just about had it when she came to a break in the rough terrain. The little spot was flat and thick with grass, though it seemed to already be occupied. A dark Pegasus with red and white edged wings lazily grazed while Rohesia remained hidden. She had no particular reason to hide, it was just her general practice. When the mare raised her head and swung it about her surrounding Rohesia thought she may have seen her. The mare made no move towards her, she simply snorted and went back to eating.

Before the Pegasus could fly away, Rohesia appeared in the clearing. As to not frighten the horse she let out a little half-whinny. She approached and greeted the Pegasus with a smile and only slightly feigned excitement. “Hello! I’m Rohesia,” she looked at the mare expectantly but continued speaking. “I just came to the falls. Have you been here long?” As Rohesia spoke she paid close attention to the other mare. Now that she was closer she could see dark eyes and cloven hooves. She lowered her head to graze once or twice, discreetly eying the hooves. These horses had all kinds of different limbs and attachments; everyone in her old herd had been so normal. Well, at least what she had been taught was normal for a horse.

Rohesia remembered hearing that cloven hooves were a Unicorn trait, not a Pegasus one. Half breed? She wondered curiously at the mare. It was a culture shock for her to just see the other two species, but them combined was something she hadn’t expected. Evidently this strange new world was much more tolerant of others than she was used to. Within herself she didn’t have a prejudice, but that was because she always had a sense of curiosity for that which was forbidden. She wondered if meeting this different kinds of horses and forming opinions on them would change her. Or maybe she would just stay the same, as usual.

Her moment of peace was broken by the approach of another and Ghost moved her head from the sky to the newcomer. As usual, the sprite portrayed nothing on her features and her senses focussed in on the bay mare who had quite quietly appeared before her. Ghost knew very few in the Hidden Falls and those she knew of were mostly Asylum members from previous gatherings, she knew names and faces, bits of information here and there all neatly stashed away. Her current project was to understand a little more about Eris, understudy to Midas, but still at the head of affairs in the Asylum. At least to Ghost's knowledge that was. However, it never hurt to know one or two things about the variety of members in the Hidden Falls and Ghost lucked upon this herd sister with calculating eyes.

She was smaller than Ghost, but still quite tall for her breed, all elegance and beauty with a dished face and vibrant verdant eyes. Still she appeared strongly built and some strange metallic trinket wrapped around one of her legs in the shape of a snake. If someone was to tell Ghost that she was a Princess of some faraway place she wouldn't have been surprised, her features were the envy of many surely and she had jewels to match. At least, this was Ghost's first initial thoughts of the strange mare that introduced herself as Rohesia. Rohesia the snake girl. That was easy to remember enough!

Ghost hadn't always been brilliant at idle talk, but slowly as she sought to improve her sleuth skills the little sprite had learnt that idle talk was often the best way to learn things. False friends were useful pawns in the long game of life chess. "Ghost." She replied to her expectant gaze with a faint smile and a quite voice. The mare then went on to explain that she was new to the place and enquired after Ghost's own time spent in the valley of many falls.

"I came here with Seele, our leader, when the Falls was first formed." It wasn't all that long ago really and Ghost still wasn't sure whether she liked the place or not, the idea of being stuck in one area wasn't all that appealing, but being allied to such a large herd was surely an advantage. "Do you like it here so far? We have only just recently acquired this piece of land, even I do not know its every corner." She tried her hand at conversation, it wasn't her expertise, but her rather girlish smile remained as she tried her best to improve her confidence around others.
