There were things to discuss and it was long past due for a herd meeting. I trotted to our gathering place, a spot between what used to be a stream but was now a gushing river that had been swelled by Frostfall snow that had melted from the high peaks in our mountainscape. The slanted rocks that stood from shallow riverbed stretched out with fingers reaching toward heaven in an impossible climb that would never get higher. I mounted the block, leaving ample space for Seele to stand in her titled position. Another warm day was upon us, the cloudless sky aglow with a late morning sun that crept taller with each passing moment. It was still young enough in the day to be considered morning, yet late enough that even the laziest of our family was surely awake and stirring about.

“Come to me brothers and sisters of Hidden Falls.”

Baritone vocal boomed above the treeline, descending into the mist of those that might be lingering just out of sight. Fina broke the thick canopy an instant later, scattering various brier leaves in her wake. Those amber wings were aflame with light and holy fire. I smiled as she flew overhead, crying out as only a phoenix could with vivid crooning. Honeyed gaze drifted toward the timbers and danced briefly up into heaven with an expectant rise of brow. Gingerly lips spread apart, no words climbing free—instead they moved in silent prayer, to Earth, urging for his strength to fill this moral body and wisdom to move voice into fair judgment. When the first member arrived my prayers ceased altogether.

Meetings, meetings and more meetings! Ghost sighed and raised her wings to the sky, social gatherings had never been her area of expertise. Too many eyes and too many fools, although she did have to admit, it was a rather good place to spot faces and learn new names. Fools could do the stupidest of things after all.The voice that called on the air was not that of her own Commander's, however, and was instead that of the winged Czar. Commander of craft and the army. A stud who wore a collar of armour and a heroic title like he'd just walked out of an epic adventure, Ghost knew very little about the Czar so she neither loved nor hated him. He was the now leader and he held the power along with Seele, the sprite would give him a wide berth and the respect earned by title no matter what she thought and slowly she would learn more about the golden tipped male, bit by bit. Only then would she say yea or nay to his worthiness. Not that it really mattered what Ghost would think, but the sprite took her judgements very seriously, misjudging could lead to death or imprisonment. An open mind always knew where the exit was.

She flew for what felt like not all that long at all, watching to see if there were any movement below of others gathering before landing before Midas. Her mind already trying to guess what it was going to be about. Perhaps the girl who had been escourted back or maybe Eris had finally said one insult too many. Or maybe it would be just a simple address to the masses with nothing really new and if that was the case then the sprite would consider throttling the painted lead.

The spot where Seele would be was still empty, perhaps only the Czar would address them today, or maybe the Necromancer was having a go at being fashionably late. Either way, the silent mare had arrived and stood present, slotted her wings neatly into the sides before her vacant turns to try catch the golden one of Midas. She looked to his magnificent bird who burned brightly, even Ghost had to admit, she was something to behold. Dangerous beauty was a good companion to have.

The banshee sighed then, silently hoping he'd speak the important words quickly and save her from being out in 'public' for too long. The Gods only know what diseases they carried.

but I’m gonna bet they never really feel at home
if they spent a lifetime learning how to live in Rome
Let the heat of the sun
Reignite your memory
Because if we just turn and run
Let them fire the gun

A few weeks had passed since the birth of the twins. Even now Kiara found herself lingering close to them. She had left Keiran with them the one time she did have to leave to escort that brat of a mare back to the World's Edge. That had just made her even more glad she had choosen to start over in a new herd than return to the one with so many memories. Even now those memories stung. Breeze constantly in and out of her life... Mirage, her second mother had not been seen since the darkness had taken over... Nor had Madryn and Maskan, the first two males she had trusted once she had arrived in Helovia. Maybe no male could be trusted? All other than her son.

Both twins were precious to her, but there was something about Adelric that made him so much different than Malachi... Poor Malachi.... Her firstborn had never really stood a chance. She had loved him and hated him all at the same time. Yet when he needed her and Keiran most she had let him down and run away. Not your fault. He was grown. Just weak. Not your fault. She sighed. I know Keiran, I know. But I will not allow that to happen to Adelric and Zünden. He rubbed against her front legs as she watched them.

It was then the call rang out. “Come to me brothers and sisters of Hidden Falls.” Keiran turned to look in the direction of the call. Not far, we both go. Twins be okay. Maybe they will hear and follow too. Kiara nodded and moved off at a trot calling over her shoulder. "Adelric! Zünden! Herd meeting! Let's go!" It would be their choice if they came or not. She hoped they would come and stand by her side.

She was the second to arrive, dipping her head to the Czar. The Czarina had not even arrived yet. Was she even going to come? Kiara trembled slightly, glad that Ghost had also arrived. Czar Midas not hurt you. He good. Has to be good to lead such good herd with Czarina Seele. Kiara nodded at the words, but her body language had not changed yet. I am here too. Will not let anyone harm you ever again. She leaned down and nuzzled her bonded, so grateful for him. The one male who had never hurt her ever. The one male that never would. They could hear each others thoughts and feel each others emotions. He knew why she feared males better than anyone ever could.

Despite my reservations, I have been looking forward to the moment that I see the Czar's golden tones dance across my vision again. A part of me feels that I am betraying Seele, after having my attentions set upon her affections for so long, but then I consider the nature of the relationships. My loyalty is unwaveringly with my half-sister, for how else am I to atone for the sins of my past? My... interest in the golden one cannot possibly compare to, or hope to overcome, my desire to gain the Necromancer's trust. Even if he is quite charming.

I arrive in a moment of silence, the only colours in the clearing the dull browns of the soil crunching softly beneath so many hooves. A light breeze rustles green in the trees, and I savor the moment of peace, echoes of gold reverberating against my lids. I smile at the painted steed, for he is the only leader present at the moment and I do not risk offending my queen, and cannot keep my pupil-less gaze from lingering just a moment longer than necessary upon the fine features of his face. Perhaps, in another world... But it isn't any good to think of such things. I am a member of the Asylum, and he is quite sane - sooner or later, our paths will diverge, and I know where my loyalties lie.

Gods, but I hope I do.

Ghost is present, a face that I remember from a brief meeting after Seele's encounter with a power-hungry usurper. I didn't get a chance to really look her over then, and I take the chance to do so now. She is dark, with red-tipped wings and a splash of lighter colour bordering the white, and I think of her sea-green voice, an oddity with her pelt. The other mare has a white blanket over her haunches, and I don't recognize her despite the rather obvious marking. I should, seeing as we have inhabited the Falls for quite a while now, but I have been rather less social than I should have been. I resolve to do better in the future.

For now, though, I must simply wait.

What now? Can a mare not come home before being called to a herd meeting? "Come to me brothers and sisters of Hidden Falls." The words of our male leader echoed in the air, dark tones reaching towards the sky and exploding out to every corner of the Falls. Next to me was my bonded, trotting happily into our herdland. "Why are you so happy?" I mumbled, looking down at her with my brow raised. 'Because home. Time to guard foals. Happy.' Slowly I shook my head in disbelief and sighed. "You go and do that. I have to go to Midas. He's calling us for something..." I watched as she ran away right into the heart of our land, before I started walking in the direction of my leader's call.

It didn't take long before I had arrived at the scene, the black and white pegasus standing upon the stone block where I had first seen him. Midas. Next to him was a flaming bird flying, it's whole body and long wings covered in flames. A phoenix? As I looked around, I realized I only recognized one other. Kiara. "Adelric! Zünden! Herd meeting! Let's go!" So that was what all of this commotion was for. A herd meeting.

I stepped closer to the roan equine and smiled, before greeting her companion with the same movement of my lips. "Good day, Kiara. How are you? And the twins?" I asked, positioning myself next to her. During the wait for an answer I let my gaze wander over the others. A unipeg - like my daughter - stood nearby, her colors were almost the same too. Well, I said almost. The other one was a mare, much smaller than me and certainly younger as well, colored in white and blue-ish green as if she was a paint. 'How... Unique.' 'What?' 'Here's a mare who's trying to mimic a budgie.' 'Haha,' I flicked my jagged ear back and concentrated on the mental bond. 'Why are you laughing? I'm serious.' 'Funny. Horse pretending to be bird.'

"Found a thin red line of madness."

'Dezba talking'
'Delinne thinking.'

ooc: Edit to clarify: Dezba isn't there with Delinne. She ran off to take care of Cahira, so Delinne is alone at the meeting.

Meetings. They were a small price to pay for being able to live in this herd, for the safety they provided - especially since on any normal day he could avoid just about everyone for as long as he wished. Not many bothered him by the shores of the gem pool, not many disturbed the little bed that he had made for himself beneath the trees there. It was rather perfect, really. Though having to stand around with all the strange shapes and sizes that showed up and also called this place home always seemed like a steep price to pay while it was actually happening.

At least, he thought, most of them were friendly enough. He could hardly begrudge Midas anything, he was even getting used to those wings.

To think this day would ever come! Getting used to wings. Preposterous! Well there was no time to worry about it now, he would do so later with his post-meeting snack.

Moving as quickly as he felt, which wasn’t very quickly at all, he did not arrive first to the meeting but rather there was already a group forming a loose crowd around their king.

Oh bother. She was here. With a grumble, Wilibald joined the group - just about as far away from Delinne as possible and standing a little back, not caring who else he might find himself standing near so long as it wasn’t her. Who knew what sort of violent outbreaks she might feel like today! She had been provoked, of course, but that hardly meant she needed to use violence as a means of retaliation.

Positioning himself just so that she wouldn’t be picked up in his periphery - the taller bodies certainly helped with that, he could almost thank these strangers for the help - he focused instead on Midas and wondered vaguely what this could possibly be about.

Duties, duties, duties. Always with the duties. Well that's really a lie, I haven't done much shit at all being here in the Falls. Which is pretty nice. But of course, a herd meeting is something that everyone must attend.. Noooot optional. Damn. I always feel a little .. overcrowded when being around an entire herd. Too many beasties in one place. But as I appear where Midas has summoned us - the same place he summoned us before - I feel reassured. I am familiar with about half of those that have gathered, and so far it seems there aren't too many. Midas, of course, is present with his companion Fina. She helped call us to gather. There is a hybrid mare that I don't recognize - dark, with red and white tipped wings. A small round pony - I don't know him either. A mare who seems quiet and reserved, but with beautiful eyes and a pale body. Then there are the others that I know. Kiara and Keiran together, twins not far behind. Ah, so she gave birth - to twins! Good for her. And there's Delinne, but without her companion Dezba. I can feel Damaris's disappointment. I point out to her as best I can that the world does not revolve around her. Instead, perhaps she can play with Keiran.

I finally reach the gathering and stand silently, not really wishing to speak up. I take a swig from my enchanted pouch and savor the burn of the vodka. I'm tired today and would really rather nap. I yawn, jaws spreading wide and my eyes close tight. Maybe we can hurry this along.

I see a funny looking stallion walking ahead of me, answering the call that has bellowed through the Falls, and been screeched from overhead. Midas and Fina call to us to gather here in our homeland. The stallion and his pup must be going there as well, and it's funny to walk behind them and watch the rounded man move with his energetic pup bounding ahead.

Sure enough they lead me to the gathering where I recognize Midas, Wilibald, and Reizend. A joyful grin spreads over my lips in seconds as I pick up a trot and approach Reizend. I have barely seen her since she led me from the Threshold, and I have missed her so. I approach her side and call to her. "My dear Reizend -- it has been too long." I bow my head to the side in greeting, angled to see her and avoiding poking her with my glass horn. I look up at Midas and admire his built yet sleek form. I am very pleased to have him as my King.

Not to be an ass or anything.. but I really don't know any of these ponies in the Hidden Falls. A couple I've met once or twice, sure. But I've kept to myself while I've been here. I don't really know many of them at all, and I'm not sure I care to. Not that there is anything wrong with them. It's more than... I don't feel like I belong here. I don't belong anywhere that is without Africa. I am going to return to the Heart Caves soon, and hope that maybe something there will give me guidance. It is the last place I saw her - maybe she'll come back there, remembering me as I will return, remembering her.

Though I'd love to reminisce all day about the beautiful dappled mare, I know that I must pay at least a little bit of attention to the gathering that I have been called to. Though I have contributed poorly to the well-being of my herd, I have the utmost respect for Seele and Midas. Especially Midas. Other than Africa, he has affected who I am most of all here in Helovia, and in only good ways. I bow my head to him as I approach, offering him the respect that I once denied him, but that he completely deserves. Around me are beasts that I've never met. Except one. Ghost - the black pegasus. I send a smile and a nod in her direction, too. Though we never got to know each other well, I like her. I turn my attention back to my King, waiting for him to speak.

I can fake a smile, I can force a laugh. I can hold the weight of worlds.

She just wanted to be done.

If Elsa had the means and the energy, she would've hurled herself off a cliff. No one cared anymore, Elsa the friend, was now Elsa the forgotten. Her small, now malnourished body just stood afar from the group that had called her. Midas stood before them, and the others curled up around him. Some of the faces she knew, but a word was still not spoken to them.

Cashmere was one of the faces she was relieved to see, and made it a point to quietly nicker to her. Elsa took up a "far-near" place near Cashmere, but away from the crowd. She looked to Midas, another she potentially thought she could trust. But again, she honestly had no idea. Elsa was about as enthralling as a beetle now.

She awaited then, for more to arrive, and for him to speak. Obviously, with all these meetings and secretiveness, something sinister was going on. Probably, she deduced, from the petty arguments resulting from butt-hurt people. Everyone wanted power here. But could they not see? Could they not see what it did to her? Did they all want to end up like her? She was just a pathetic sap now, a black mark on the history of the world that would only ever remember the wrong she created. They would only remember the dark snow.

Elsa lowered her head submissively, and fell into the spell of herd-ship again. Did she really want to do this? Or did she want to go rogue, and find her own meaning? It was a thought that more than once crossed her mind. Maybe it was a time to decide now, maybe the world was telling her to f-off. To bad it just couldn't whack her in the face with a sign that told her what do to.

"Talketh."

I come to a landing just inside the rolling green haven of this place that I have started to consider a suitable home, my head buzzing with the newfound knowledge that it was no longer home for Circuta and Eris, many who had followed them out. The night had been filled with their words, this Asylum, and while I felt no deep connection to either of the groups I’d found myself torn between, I did feel an obligation to hear both sides out.

Still, I had been honored among the ranks of the mad. I recall the midget with russet fur that tends to similar matters here with a mocking smile, and a glance over at Dog finds her scowling at me, for she can feel my indecision singing against the midnight toll of the Elysian bell hung in my heart, and knows that my smiles are rarely kind when such emotions fill me. I laugh, a light sound, hooves dancing beneath me as a swift tail lashes at her playfully, the sun fully revealed at last over the eastern horizon as Skýlos dashes sidelong and parries with flashing white teeth that narrowly miss my fringed appendage.

Realizing that the game is short lived, however, she plops down beside me, having forgiven my sharp nature almost instantly as I raise my dark muzzle to the air, testing to see if there are any gathered in large numbers here as of yet; finding none, I set off towards my favorite grazing spot to gather respite before the sure call of the jilted Midas and Seele meet me.

I am no so lucky.

As soon as the morning can be called such a thing, he is calling us. My Dog makes her laughing face with the tongue fully extended and brows high, bounding idiotically toward the sound with her eyes cast over her shoulder at me as soon as she feels my notice of the noise and the oncoming flood of aggravation afterwards.

My stomach rumbles.

Sighing with my ears alongside my face as I follow the sound on hoof to the same knoll they had first called us to, I arrive to the meeting shortly after my darting fool of a hound, both of us choosing to stand alongside the black pegasus mare who had also been at the other meeting earlier.

At least we’ll all be tired, together.

Well, except Skýlos. She’s never tired, another of her more annoying facets.

Ever since Parelia had left nothing had been quite the same for the dappled stallion. There was no joy, no happiness, only regret upon his mind as he stood overlooking the far border of the falls. He missed his family greatly but it was his title that seemed to hold him to this place he had come to love ever since his arrival to Helovia. Things had changed greatly since Apollo had been their king all those months ago, but without his mate he felt so empty inside. His companion Kiara had been doing her best to comfort his grieving soul but there was nothing anyone could do to disperse the pain of not only losing his mate but also his son. Maybe this was the way things were supposed to turn out, his father had made it clear to him many years before that he would never amount to anything and that he would hurt anyone he got close to. Sighing heavily he turned his head away, why couldn't things ever be easy. If it were not for his position as Praetor it would have been so much easier to let this place go and follow his heart, but with the title came responsibilities and these he couldn't forget otherwise he would be failing the herd he had sworn to protect.

Midas's call echoed about calling all those who resided within the Falls to gather round for a routine meeting. Hovering a few moments longer he finally turned his giant frame to head towards the meeting. There was part of him that did not want to attend but deep down he needed to for he was still a part of this herd, at least for now. Lowering his cranium he approached the group that had already gathered round Midas, but where was their queen in all this he wondered. Silver eyes quickly scanned over faces but sure enough Seele was no where to be found. Rostislav was one of the few he recognized along with Silk and Delinne, the others were vaguely familiar but he knew little about them. Maybe this meeting would give him insight into what was going on and who some of them may be.

Kiara followed along casually not really liking the idea of all the so called crazies gathered all in one place, she was here for her bonded and for him only. Glaring at some of the others she promptly lay herself down in the grass beside her big grey stallion, what was all this over anyway?

Adelric
The child's mother calls him and he is compelled to rise from his slumber to see what the noise is about. Looking to his still sleeping sister, the half-child nickers eagerly to her and tosses his head from side to side as he had learned to do from Erebos. The feeling of the air across his miniscule horn awakens and refreshes him, causing him to offer a half-smile in response to his fun; however, the child quickly has to make a decision. Should he follow mother or wait here for his beloved sister? He hems and haws but finally decides that he is hungry and his slumbering sibling will have to find her way on her own. Giving one last loving nicker to her, the half-child trots dutifully after the beloved paint that has birthed him.

When he falls in beside her, he suddenly realizes the meaning of the words 'herd meeting'. It is a gathering of all the scents he has smelled in the Falls since his birth. With so many horses all around him, the half-child instantly feels nervous and unworthy to be in there presence. He is too small, too meager, for such a sensational event as this. And then something else happens that sends him shivering. He realizes that his other mother, Delinne, is standing on the other side of his mother and the half-child finds that his eyes begin to water in memory of the angry colt that had yelled at him and told him that Delinne was not his mother. Adelric was certain that Azzarel hadn't known was he was talking about and still... the colt did not want to take any chances. He nudged his mother and then quickly cantered away, far from Delinne where he was least likely to cause anyone else to be angry. They needn't concern themselves with him, he was not even worthy of arousing anger in a worm.

Or so he thought, until he looked forward and realized that he was headed straight towards some small, rotund pony that he had never seen before. Trying to put his hooves out to stop himself, the half-child cringed in fear that he might hit this stallion that he had never even met before. This was why he was not worthy of such a meeting, he couldn't even hold himself together long enough to not crash into one of the other residents of his home. So, with hooves sliding across the gravel, the little colt closed his eyes and wondered if he would fell impact with pony or dirt first and hoped that neither would be particularly offended by the assault.

"You spin me right round, baby."

With one meeting down, you trudge your excessively large ass back to the Falls, Eris' feather cape draped across your back. Of course, one meeting is never enough, and so it seems that just as you cross the borders someone else is calling for you to go grace them with your presence. Gosh... you never knew you were so loved. Rolling your eyes, you dig your mouth into your newly over-stuffed shoulder bag and drag out enough vines to kill a goat. This goat-lethal dose also conveniently happens to be just enough to get you good and spacey. All the better to get through another meeting with. One gathering of the crazies was certainly enough.

Giving your body enough time to absorb some of the toxins and your brain enough time to get good and hazy, you finally decide you better show up before the whole show is over. With your characteristic wobbling trot carrying you forward, you arrive just in time to avoid one very distressed looking colt who is cantering across the ground. Shaking your head, you take a moment to survey the scene and finally decide to take yourself (and your fabulous cape) over Elsa, who also seems to have made it back from the Rotunda in one peace. She's no Sugar Lips, but she's the best company you've got at this point.

Standing beside her, you do not offer her your nose this time as you've maxed out your weekly quota of displaying affecting, but you're there. With the Golden Asshole bobbing and weaving upon his throne (no doubt due to your drug habit), you just stand here and wait. You're already annoyed, knowing that this whole gathering thing is going to be entirely fruitless for you. For some reason, all of your scars and struggles are never good enough. No wonder you need drugs. Drugs will always love you. Drugs will always think you are good enough.

The summer months have come and the silver silhouette of the regal knight reflected out upon the horizon. Ashamed, he had taken time to himself through the spring to just spread his wings and was scarce among the group he called family. Golden crest glinting against the sunlight as he gazed upon the rolling falls in the distance. The mist cluttering the heavens in a soft warm haze while polish gold daggers ripple and smear within the grasp of rushing spring water beneath him; it was a good day but had he missed anything while he was away on his little venture? Probably so, but alas in good time he had returned to keep his promise to the golden king Midas.

Like a song warming the heart, his mind snapping back within its skinned bony prison, the call of demand danced through the oak and pine, harboring tune between the misty falls. It was him, Midas had come once more to call his brethren in close. What news would he hold? If not dethrone him of his Sleuth position because of his absence among the herd. With a guilty, but happy heart the silver night wasted naught a moment in time, and bounded off the cliffs edge in a plume of feathers and water splashes.

Electricity flooded his veins, sparks kissing across his dappled skin as he slithered across the skies with grace and power. Answering the call of his lord wouldn’t be easy, as the sound was distant. But he was in a whirlwind of speed, like a hurricane he spun through the clouds. Golden hooves tucked to his chest, gaining speed as the group took shape in the distance. Naturally, his eyes didn’t fall upon his leader first but instead that of his kin. The winged brothers and ladies, the horned and gift less stood upon the earth, glued like helpless creatures. Poor things, he did feel sorry for them. No weaponry, no gift of flight. New faces stood among the group, and a smile formed upon his velvet lips.

Putting his shame aside, he dove toward the group with grace, obsidian wings etched in ivory expanding and arched to catch the misty flow beneath them, easing his landing on the side of the group at a good distance as gold touched emerald in a gentle embrace. Fluffing up and pulling feathered appendages close to his dappled frame. Chiseled visage marked with an ivory blaze gazed upon the group through eyes of gold. Toned cannons laced in black silk tipped with gold mirrors shifted upon the earth, wind-swept threads twisted and mingling upon his toned nape as he turned to gaze upon their King, his savior; Midas.

He spoke nothing, but let the words speak through the joy in his eyes, the pride in his stance, and the energy that sparked around him. It was good to be home.

Her skull pounded, and she dreaded the thoughtlessness. The paint mare was clueless; unsure of what she was delving into, but it seemed something concerning had happened under her ignorant eye. Her body swayed awkwardly into the meeting as the call had received her presence, though late in the journey, and constantly anxious entering a room of a bustling crowd of equines. She thought after all the time she had spent, she would adjust, but she still lacked the feeling of understanding courage. A coward she would remain under the judgement. Change would haunt her, too. Change always happened it seemed.

A thought occurred: The king was here, but Seele had not arrived herself. Although they may be the case, some faces were familiar while others were new to her curious gaze lavished upon them. A familiar winged mare was in the midst of the meeting. "Cealestis?" She uttered meekly; inaudible to ears much further than where she stood - which was near the exit. Cealestis was there, and a miracle of its own, her heart swelled with hope. She was the only one she could feel some comfort around while the others kept her lying low for the duration of the gathering. Still, she kept her distance in the back, and she prayed it would end soon. Plenty of them would likely have known what she hardly understood. They were smart, and she wasn't. Her head lifted, and she had some height advantage to peer over a few horses. That would remain a limited time she felt grateful for her own body.

She was dying to know what was going on. It would at least cure some of the worry that accumulated since the other visit to a crowd filled with more equines. Too many crowds. She would be content being surrounded by clusters of flowers rather than her own kind.

It didn't take long for kin to start making their way in. Ghost arrived first, punctual, I glanced her way and offered a polite nod. She wasn’t a very talkative girl, a trait that I was most grateful for. Kiara, our mild tempered medic arrived next, her bonded panther was close on heel. I lingered on the pair for a moment, nearly beaming with the knowledge that said spotted girl would be rewarded for past services today.

Yet another mare comes quickly after Kiara, she stands out from the dark and sandy pelts of those around her. I was glad to see Reizend and more than willingly returned that timid smile that teases milky lips apart for the faintest of moments.

Delinne emerges, successfully breaking the false peace with conversation directed toward Kiara. Wilibald joined our gathering and I nodded his way, wondering how easily the stout pony had taken to his godly position. Our Legatus came wandering in, followed by one of our mason’s, Cashmere. She’d been of great service to this family, both she and Elsa had taken up the responsibility of Earth Mason rather quickly and effectively. Our first of three prison cells were nearing completion.

Satanic Silk is a welcome sight when he trails in, I return that dipped crown with a gracious bend of my own. Rising to grin at the leather winged man. We’d overcome our differences and stood as true brothers now. The ice woman came forward next, Elsa, drawing closer to stand near Cashmere.

Another mare joined our group, her face familiar only by the fact she’d attended our last herd meeting. Ciceron our capable third in command and a youthful warrior from Delinne’s loins arrives moments later. The flow of bodies is slowing now, only a few more souls come trailing in. All silent, all waiting.

Oxy and Hawkeye are the last two stallions to join this gathering. When Florabella arrives the flow of bodies seemed to cease altogether.

“Welcome,” I started, tapping one forehoof against the solid gray slate below as an effective way to grab attention. Seele hadn’t emerged yet—the young co-lead was likely recovering from injuries sustained during her last confrontation. “Our first matter of business is one to honor those among our ranks.” Concentrated stare falls upon Cashmere and Elsa, “Ye two have served your family well as Masons. The first holding cell nears completion. I thank ye both for your efforts and that of our Artisan ranks.”

“Cashmere,” centering on the gray lass I allowed the composed lines of my face to relax into a small smile, “Earth has seen fit to reward ye—when this meeting concludes, visit the Storyteller’s pool. I believe thee will find a gift from our patron god resting near the water.”

Gaze turned toward our healer, “Kiara, ye has also served us well and your actions have been noted.” I called upon my magic spools. Sand flowed from behind my quarters and curled across hindlegs like slithering vines, one such strand trailed beneath the waves of feathers which rested just below my nape. Hidden behind the ivory was a precious feather, a dark feather, one from Earth’s very wing. “This is for ye,” golden granules curled the plume toward her feet, releasing it gently upon the ground before retreating back into the soil from whence it had been called. Flowers of the most vibrant color sprang from where the feather stuck.

There was one more who'd been called out, I paused, gazing across the crowd. Wilibald was where my eyes settled, “My brother, Wilibald.” The hardness in unpupiled pits softened, “Our patron god has a special mission for ye, visit his shrine when it suits ye.”

Rewards had been dealt out, and now came for the less appealing topics of this meeting. “There have been rumors floating around, and I would put them to light and truth.” I didn’t know how many or even if any was involved in the recent unsettling, “As some of ye might have heard, Eris and Circuta have been stripped of their positions and banished from the herd. Seele fought Circuta in battle and sustained mild injuries—this is likely the cause of her absence today.” Vocals paused, halting their vibrations to become callous in my next statement, “They were banished on charges of betrayal and insubordination.”

There is another breath, a chance for my still new and growing family to take in this information before I dive into another topic.

“There has also been talk of Basin interaction and of forming an alliance with the northern unicorns. I bring this to ye after holding palaver with Seele for many long hours.” Aye, we’d talked and came to an agreement, “It is not in the best interest of this family to share close ties with the northern folk. They’ve done nothing in the past or present to prove beyond the waggling of tongues that their aid would serve us in times of need.”

“I bring instead a proposition; let us seek to mend bonds with those who title themselves edge and dragon folk, who have proven time and time again to stand true in moments of strife.”
Tone softened into a lull, I spoke quietly though deep enough for all too easily understand what followed, “What say ye about this? For our decision is not something I would see taken lightly, and if there is information that will aid in the furthering our choice, speak now.” Surely they wouldn’t be so blind as to trust Basin to aid anyone other than themselves.

OOC: Congrats Wilibald you've been given a VOTG pass. Cashmere has been gifted a large item and Kiara has been gifted a feather from Earth God (flowers grow from it).

Midas speaks my name and my ears perk up. Somehow, some way, I've managed to earn some sort of gift from our patron god, the God of the Earth. I'm flattered - I don't know what exactly I've done to earn this honor, but I couldn't be more pleased. I mouth the words "thank you" and stay quiet, letting the King continue to speak to our herd.

When he brings up the subject of allies - a very important subject indeed - I feel like somehow I might be able to contribute. I know nothing about fighting or alliances, but I do know something about one mare in the Dragon's Throat, and in the Edge, as well. When the time is right, I speak up to contribute to the conversation and answer his call for our opinions. "I know Sohalia in the Dragon's Throat. I met with her to learn about crafting, and knew her back in the caves. She is very, very nice. I think she and the rest of her herd would be a great ally. And I met Aaron in the Edge, again, to learn about crafting. I don't know much about them there, but he seemed nice." I feel shyness coming over me, as I've spoken a lot in front of a lot of of horses. I go quiet again, and lower my head slightly, backing up slightly. I hope that what I've spoken has been helpful.

My mind is spinning. thoughts just... are not coming. Hindered hind legs shuffle their way along the ground as I slowly and painfully pull myself toward the center of attention. Gashes on my pelt were in plain view, but I still refused to allow someone to heal me. The tip of my ear was gone - I wouldn't ever have that whole left ear again.

However, I still managed to move somewhat gracefully towards the rock which Midas stood upon. All previous words spoken were lost on me. I wasn't listening. I was barely even listening to Schwere as he went on and on about how I had failed at training. How I needed to fight more. How I was becoming weak. Perhaps it was true, but all I wanted to do was go take a nap and then patrol the edges of our borders again - maybe even assist in some of the sleuth and healer projects. After all, we did need to get them running soon, didn't we?

A glazed mind causes my body to accidentally bump past a few of the crafters before finally managing to clamber to the top of the rock in my spot beside Midas. I say very little, only a word of greeting to Midas and a bob of my head to everyone else. Tired eyes search the crowd, resting on my sisters - Reizend, Ghost, Kiara, Cashmere, Elsa, Cealestis. We even had some of the young ones here as well as our strong men. It seemed to be a good number present - however I felt as though we had more.

Perhaps I should use now to present the idea of a seance. The word would get around easier that way. "I have the ability to converse with the dead, play with souls, and spread their messages to the living. I should be able to speak with about five souls a season. For those who wish to speak with their loved ones come find me at the first full moon for a seance. I will choose two at that time... A hoarse voice is all I can emit. Vocals strained and tired when I hadn't really spoken too much as of late.

I still had no idea what had just been covered by Midas - or what response Cashmere gave, but I figured that I would be able to piece it together the more I heard others speak. I wasn't that out of it. Or at least - I wouldn't admit that I was that out of it.

She listened and watched as the meeting took place, noting faces she hadn't seen and returning Midas' nod before committing each new face to memory by appearance facts. There were those that arrived that she did 'know', Kiara probably being the most prominent of those. The girl always seemed rather quiet or softly spoken and though she usually looked down upon such creatures, she found she rather liked the humble looking healer. Ghost talked very little and her connections, though she had met many faces, were rather small. She knew just enough. Not too long later another face appeared that the sprite distinctly recognised and she offered a small smile to the red tinted Satanic Silk, their last conversation had been a long (in Ghost's books) and rather convoluted one, yet still interesting. He was perhaps one of the few she dared to call a friendly acquaintance.

Soon Midas spurred the meeting into action and the spy listened to each bit of information carefully, processing it before forming an opinion. The Masons were honoured for their work along with Kiara and the short legged Storyteller. She listened with even greater interest to the news that Eris and Circuta had been banished, that the once Sleuth had challenged the Czarina and lost. It seems her mission to watch the red hair had come to an end, unless Seele expected her to cross the wilds and find her once again. She hoped not otherwise she might as well become an outcast herself. Although the victory of the Necromancer came as welcome news to her eager ears, it meant she had chosen well so far in her decision to follow the one who shows the most strength. For now her position was in a good place.

The golden Czar goes on to mention allies and the shunning of the Aurora Basin. Ghost knew little about the land of the northern folk and her only visit to those mountains had been when she'd met the zombie kid and his pet tiger. Odd things roamed those mountains, though one day she would like to visit them again if only to snoop out more... Oddities. He mentioned alliances with the south and the west, all words that were new to her, but things that sounded promising. As long as the winged lord remembered to watch the northern border for results of their rebuke to the Basin. Even Ghost knew that a slap in the face was not always taken lightly.

He asks the opinion of the masses last and Ghost simply nods her approval. It wasn't her job to see who and who they weren't allied with. She knew very little of these lands and could not form a proper opinion. She left the rest to decide whilst her eyes flickered to the arrival of a familiar form that was torn and broken again. Seele. She talks of her power, of conversing with the dead and performing something she called a seance. It all sounded interesting and the sprite may very well turn up, but her breeze of a voice decided to lift above the crowd and gently chided the battered Czarina. "You'll be joining the dead if those wounds are not healed" she pointed out before looking suggestively at Kiara and Reizend.

but I’m gonna bet they never really feel at home
if they spent a lifetime learning how to live in Rome
Let the heat of the sun
Reignite your memory
Because if we just turn and run
Let them fire the gun
