Adelric,

The half-child wakes from a nap, rising from the ground with quiet precision. He is slow and careful as he lifts his body from the ground, having finally learned how to unfold himself without tumbling about like the foal he is. “Mothers! Sisters!” he calls out as he looks around him, finding himself to be rather alone. Perhaps Kiara has taken Zunden somewhere nearby while he has slept, but he does not see them or Keiran. Nor does he hear Delinne and Cahira in the vicinity. It still pains him that he had been yelled at for calling Delinne mother, but he will work through his troubles in time, he hopes. He still considers her family, even if others think he should not.

While he waits for any of them to arrive, the child decides to spend his time ruminating on whatever philosophical interest he can find. Today, he decides to inspect the foliage about him. It is a wonder of nature that each should grow to its own height, its own shape, its own thickness. Some with full leaves, some with skinny, some with serrated edges and some smooth. Each with their own taste and texture. It interests him even more that some are poisonous while others are safe to eat. Still, he does not feel the same love for plants that his mother does. He does not care to know which will make you sick and which will make you healthy. He wants to know why they make you sick or why they make you healthy. So while he stands and ponders the plants, he resolves to find someone in the herd who can help him with unlocking the mysteries of the plants here in the Falls an the mysteries of the world at large.

The heat glared from above him, he dare not look upwards towards the sun in fear of the safety of his precious eyes. His yellow orbs glimmered as he directed himself towards the shelter of the trees. Taking several large steps to safety under the shade, he halted, kicking up a little dust in the process. Ears flickered in different directions, listening for whatever he felt like, really. He noticed some movement not far off in the distance and he turned his head in the direction of the disturbance.

A small 'thing'... from what he could make out at least. He turned his small frame in the direction of his curiosity and comfortably began to make his way over. Grabbing leaves and edible foliage in the process he stopped mid chew as he realized it was a little brown foal. Not sure if the little fellow had noticed him or not, he glanced around for the parents or whoever was looking after him and did not see anything.

Fraub wasn't particularly good with children and he shifted around uncomfortably, forgetting to swallow his food. Not sure if he should just turn around and leave... or would that be mean and neglectful? He just stood there awkwardly, bits of leaf poking out from the corners of his mouth.

The storm had wondered off with her mother, but had soon grown tired of watching Kiara play with plants. The horned filly wanted to play fight, to spar and grow strong. She was still very young, but the filly was ready to become a warrior, ready to taste blood for the first time. She was also sure her brown brother would be less than willing to fight with her. For some very weird and unknown reason he was a thinker. Snorting the filly wondered the falls, careful to keep clear of the thundering falls that seemed to be everywhere. The foal had finally all but mastered her legs as well as speech, some words still fought her, but she could make do. A sudden voice rings in her ears. Snorting once again the storm cloud stopped and lowered her head to the bright green grass. She would make him wait until she was good and ready to put up with is odd thinking habit.

She wasn't stupid by any means, but she tried not to think all to much. Once she finally started his way, chewing leisurely on the thick green grass. Freezing as her different colored eyes fell upon the scene in front of her. A strange white stallion as staring at her brother with grass hanging out of his alabaster mouth. She swallowed quickly and trotted into the clearing with her head and tail high pride etched in her movements. She stopped when she was beside her brother as well as the stranger, so they were in an odd triangle. Her voice was calm and proud, "Hello brother, what are you doing?" She dipped her crowned head towards him before turning haughtily towards the abnormal stud, "Who are you?" Her gaze swept slowly over him, before she added in a sugary voice, "I am Zünden and this is my brother Adelric." She waited silently for his reply.

Adelric,

While the half-child ponders the plants that he is in front of, as happy alone as he was with others, he does not notice the white stallion approach. Rather, so deep in his ruminations, Adelric only notices the way the wind plays over the leaves and makes them shimmer. Each shape seems to take a unique path after being touched by the breeze- another mystery he does not understand. What makes one rise while the other falls? What makes one shift to the left when another is pressed downward? He wishes to know the answers to all of these questions and more. Indeed, it seems even a lifetime of study will not answer all of his questions. Still, he wants to try.

Finally, the half-child turns his head and is surprised to see Fraub standing there beside him. Starting softly, he backs up just in time for his sister to arrive beside him. Happily, he takes an awkward side-step with all of the foal grace he can manage, hoping to end up alongside of her so that he might reach out and touch her neck. And while he does that, he is happy that she takes the reins and introduces them to Fraub. He has not yet had time to think of how to approach the stallion and this makes him nervous. After all, Fraub is not his father and he has not met many stallions in person. Are there different rules for interacting with them? Zünden seems to think not.

“I was thinking,” he responds to his sister, but suddenly remembers that she is not very fond of his favorite pastime. “I wanted to play... Do you...” he hesitates. A favorite game of his might be cataloging rocks or seeing who can find the most differences between a rabbit and a squirrel but Zünden is not amused by such games, he is certain. Instead, he tries to think of what game she might enjoy and only comes up with one answer- a fight. Still, he would rather have his sister love him and be his friend than have her think he is silly. If it will make her happy, he can play a game with her. “We could fight? Maybe Mr...” He hesitates, not sure if he is imposing, but in the grand scheme of things he is more interested in having his sister like him than Fraub. If he is imposing, he supposes he will have to count it as the lesser of two evils. “Could help us. Do you know anything about fighting?”

He looks to the stallion with half-eager eyes, although secretly hoping that the answer is no so that he might be forgiven this brutal game. Still, once he has waited for an answer, he turns back to Zünden and shakes his head back and forth, letting his tiny bump of a horn glide through the air in a display of what he hopes is childish aggression. Erebos had taught him the move. If it works, he will have to find the Night Phoenix and thank him for the lesson.

Fraub's awkwardness was almost interrupted by a little filly. Her demeanor seemed prideful for such a weak looking thing. He gazed at her for a minute before looking away. She was just a grey blob with long legs and a head, well if you could call the filly a blob, all Fraub saw were legs. Foals were such odd looking things and yes he realized he was once that age at some point but that was long ago. They both had the same red and black markings and he assumed they were related.

The grey filly asks the other one something and then speaks to Fraub. Finally swallowing he opens his mouth to speak, "I am Fraub" he replies. To be honest, he felt a little weird standing here beside two unsupervised foals. What if their mother returns and thinks he is being a creep? Or worse, what if their father returns and- the grey filly speaks again to him. So they are in fact brother and sister, which explains the similar markings.

Fraub's ears perk forward as the brown colt, who is curiously named Adelric, speaks. He replies to his sister and then speaks to Fraub about... something. Fraub is not listening unfortunately but he does catch the last sentence Adelric says. Fraub frowns for a reason he forgets and then slaps himself mentally for becoming so distracted. 'Do you know anything about fighting?' He repeats to himself and then realizes what the colt was asking. "What. No, why do you want to fight?"

He glares at the two but softens his gaze shortly after, "Wouldn't you rather... I dont know, have a bath or something? I mean you look pretty dirty to me."

The storm filly smiles softly at her brother as he ungracefully moves closer to her dark grey frame. She tilts her neck outwards his warm muzzle embracing his touch, even so she makes sure the stranger stays in her sights. Tiny ears prick to catch the words, much like a child chasing butterflies with a net. The filly had to fight back a contemptuous snort at the weird name, Fraub. Yellow and Green eyes move over the strange male. Every inch of the stud was as weird as his name, that being said, the filly could have cared less. 'I bet Adel would die over the chance to learn more about him.' She thought with a soft snort. The filly turned to look at her brother as he answered her question. 'Oh what a surprise he was thinking.' She watched his for a moment and let her voice roll from her lips, "What were you thinking about this time, brother?" In all honesty the filly didn't care what her smart brother had been pondering before she arrived. But he was family and she would do her best to make him happy, even if that was listening to his senseless wondering.

She couldn't help the snort of laughter that rang from her tiny lunges as he asked if she wanted to fight. The laughter silences quickly as Adleric poses the question to the feminine white stud. Fraub's answering question makes tiny grey ears flick back towards the already powerful skull. Drawing in a deep breath she pulls her awkward frame up to it's full height pride covers her features like a cloak. Instead of answering his question she gazes intently at the horned stallion. His white body and horn remind her of a stallion she has been longing to see since her birth. Zünden would have to wrangle his name from his mother somehow. 'Maybe Adel can help me think of a way to get it out of her.' She thought her gaze still on the stud.

At his reply she stepped forward horned head lowered. She might have been young, but her horns were already in, had been since she was born in fact. "I think we're perfectly clean, don't you brother?" She flicked her multi hued eyes towards the bay beside her before looking back at Fraub. "I rather fight than bathe any day. It's pointless to be pretty and clean. What if a wolf attacked, and all you would be able to do if offer him a bath?" She laughed in a vandictive sort of way and tossed her battering like ram horns into the air.

Never to far away from her twins, the blanketed red roan mare with her bonded panther looked on idly as her son called for his sister. When the stallion arrived, Kiara tensed watching over the interaction carefully. She was slightly greatful and nervous when her first born daughter arrived. Zünden seemed to take after her sperm donor more and more each day in her actions. With a worried sigh, Kiara looked to Keiran. "What am I going to do with them Keiran? How can I ever explain that they were not born out of love? That I was forced to bring them into this world... " Her green eyes met the panther's eyes, filled with deep sorrow. Don't tell, not till older. Need to have time to be babies. Her gaze turned back to the foals her the strange stallion. Part of her screamed to run down there and chase him off because he was male.... The rest said to keep calm, that for him to be this deep into the herdland he must be part of the herd at the very least.

It was when the wind carried bits of the conversation over to the roan, that she decided to move in. The words, bath and dirty were heard from the stallion, while the words thinking and fighting were heard from her son. As she moved in, her daughter's voice was clear as a bell. "I rather fight than bathe any day. It's pointless to be pretty and clean. What if a wolf attacked, and all you would be able to do if offer him a bath?" With a sigh, Kiara realized her daughter was way ot much like her "father". "There will be plenty of time for you two to learn to fight later on. You should be safe from any attacks as long as you stay within the boundaries of the herdland." Her voice was calm and confident, which was rare for the mare. She stopped closer to her children taking in the apperance of the stallion. Keiran meanwhile moved around to where Adelric was standing, and would rub against the boy's legs if he would allow it. Kiara nodded to the stallion before speaking again. "I am Kiara, Adelric and Zünden's mother, and the Earth Medic of the Falls. The panther is my bonded companion Keiran." She tried her best to be friendly to the stallion, and could only hope he could be friendly in return.

Adelric,

Surprised by the glare that his response has garnered, the half-child debates what could have caused this interesting reaction. He had been about to answer his sisters question- what was he thinking about- but he became distracted, his mind wandering to a new curiosty to be discovered, the answer to what he had been thinking gone with the winds that brushed against the trees. He has seen a glare before, is familiar with the look, but has never stopped to ponder what exactly makes a horse glare instead of smile, furrow their brow when they could smile instead. He has never felt the need to glare himself, and so he has never known the emotion that causes it... until now.

As the white stallion asks if he would rather take a bath as he is dirty, the half-child feels himself become offended and hurt. Dirty? He looks back. Yes, perhaps he is slightly dirty, not entirely and perfectly clean, but he does not think that it is an offensive amount of filth. So he turns back to the stallion and glares at the same time that his sister poses her question. “Yes!” he responds defiantly, instantly caught up in her aggression, eager to belong with her- to be wanted. His eager head bobs fantastically as Zunden carries on and, truthfully, her words make sense to his logical mind. Cleanliness may be next to godliness, but when it came time to live or die, it seemed that fighting would be a much more useful quality.

It is only the calm voice of his mother, his beloved, that stops his head from its affirmative motion. He turns suddenly to see her, eyes wide but mouth smiling in a confusing look of both surprise and excitement. He loves her to his very core, is pleased every time he looks upon her, be he cannot help but continually feel like he has failed her. His mother does not want them to fight, does not approve of it, and he has stood here (almost) arguing like the incapable child that he is for the opposite viewpoint. “Kei,” he says then, lovingly, as the panther rubs against him, lowering his nose to brush against the cat's head, perhaps. He thinks of him as an uncle, despite her differences, in addition to a babysitter and friend. “We were just gonna play, Mother,” he adds then, trying to cover for both him and his sister, hoping to save them from any trouble. But, if they were to get into trouble, Adie knows that he would take the fall for his sister. After all, if he can shield her from harm, she will like him more. At least, he hopes...

Fraub listened to the curious looking grey filly, her gestures seemed sincere but he felt like he was under intense suspicion. He smiled sarcastically as she assured that they were 'clean'. 'Well, if you call that clean' he snickered to himself. Fraub opened his mouth to protest and to school them with 'Fraub's lesson on being clean part one'. There were five parts to be exact and he still had yet to find someone to sit and listen to his guidebook on cleanliness.

It was only then that he noticed the glaring daggers of the brown colt. A defiant 'Yes!' made Fraub wince a little and then smirk in amusement. "Dear boy if looks could kill I would surely be on the ground already." A sudden overwhelming sense of playfulness granted him to poke a little more fun towards the foals and he wanted to open his mouth to say more. Fraub's eyes lit up with a youthful glow but he was cut short when a figure caught his attention.

His words escaped him as a stranger approached. It was a lightly colored female with a white speckled blanket on her rump. Surprisingly she was shorter than Fraub by quite a bit and it made him feel sort of manly. Fraub listened as the mare spoke to the grey filly with a sort of authority and his ears perked as she took her attention to him and introduced herself as Kiara. She was their mother and with this knowledge decided to keep his clean speech for a later day.

"I am Fraub" he said humbly shifting his weight from one side to the other. He certainly didn't mean any harm but he definitely wouldn't go around poking fun at her offspring while she was around.

The storm filly advanced as her brother's emotions reflected her own aggression. Smirking as he bobbed his head agreeing viciously her own violent side bubbled threatening to spill over. As her horned head lowered hot breath spilling in the form of a snort from her strong young lunges. Words from the strange white stallion only help to tip the bubbling cauldron over, her raw savage emotions spilling forth. To an older and larger horse it would have appeared she only wanted to play fight, maybe to play tag or another game of that sort, but if you could look past her cute gangling appearance, you would see the true threat below. Buried within her heart the half-blood filly longed to prove herself with another's blood on her hooves.

At the voice of the mare, that was her mother, Zünden's anger flared before she shoved it aside. Standing up trying to look innocent the filly turned her different colored eyes in the Spotted red roan. Dislike left a terrible taste on her tongue at the thought of never leaving the herdlands. ’'Ya right, you just want us to stay here to keep us from our Father.' Instead of betraying her real thoughts the filly dipped her head and spoke softly, "Yes Mother." The two toned eyes watched in anger and jealousy as the black panther moved to Adel and began to wind around his legs. If her mother or the midnight cat had dared to show any love for her, the blackness in her hear might not have been so great, or fast growing.

Yellow and green orbs took in the love her brother was being given with hatred sparkling within her own. Zünden was not yet accomplished at hiding her true feelings, because of that she ducked her battering ram head lower to hide her grey and star spotted head. ’'One of these days Mother...' She thought fighting the wolf within that wanted so badly to come out and tear at the flesh around them. Adel's words do nothing to pull her head back up, only her tiny stormy ears. Silence wasn't that strange for her whenever Kiara was around.

The look in Zünden's eyes hurt the young roan mother. The hate the filly seemed to hold for her grew every day, and no matter how much Kiara wanted to stop it she knew hse could not. Keiran too knew how Kiara felt about the situation, and the helplessness the mother felt. Her only daughter, her eyes filled with hate for her own mother. Silently he moved from the colt to the filly, daring to rub against her legs as well. It had been his intention to greet both, it just so happened that the girl was second. I need to tell them of their father, before they both grow to hate me. Keiran's eyes looked to his bonded. Not yet. To young.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Fraub." She looked to the foals, so eager it seemed to grow up. She sighed softly before speaking. "Right now it is not important to know how to fight. Just enjoy being young, it doesn't last long." Playfully, Keiran padded to Zünden's rear and swatted at her tail. Kiara laughed. "I do believe Keiran is trying to start a game of chase." The panther leaped sideways, trying to get the kids playing and their minds off of hate and fighting. It was worth a shot at least.

Kiara's attention then turned to the strange white stallion. The way his mane and tail sat was the strangest thing she had ever seen. It made the roan curious to know more. "How long have you lived in Helovia?"

"Sed interdum rutrum urna, sed pellentesque sapien tempor in."

Adelric,

Curious words from the curious stallion; Adelric also notes the stallion’s strange hair, like his mother has. He has no retort for the white stud, and in fact he feels rather bad for having been rude at all, but he has been forced to make a choice between stranger and family. Family will always win for the half-child. Besides, it seems like he has pleased Zunden. Her happiness made him happy. Still, he cannot help but notice the anger in her eyes as the panther finishes winding about his legs. He frowns. How can he fix this?

The half-child decides the best course of action is to be good to his sister, to reach over, to press against her neck if she does not move away. He does not fear her lowered head, or the horns upon it. He trusts her to be gentle with him, though she is not gentle with anyone else. They are twins, after all, and it is a special bond to be one in the same. Indeed, he is not whole without her and he knows it. Together, their opposite eyes make two complete sets and they both share the same barbed wire marking that sometimes dances in his dreams. A barbed wire marking that flits just out of reach each time he tries to remember who had worn it for him to know it. It is a stallion, his father perhaps, but he knows nothing else. Only a strange sense of longing, of emptiness, and not knowing… He could ask his mother, maybe, but she would speak of it if she wanted to, he is certain. He is young, but he has an intuitive heart.

As the panther swats at his sister’s tail and his mother comments about a game of chase, the boy nods obediently. “Running will help you grow stronger,” he says to his sister, smiling, butting his nose out again, trying to cajole her into a game. “Come on!” He laughs gaily, moves not-so-gracefully, but chances after the panther nevertheless, looking back for his sister. He is sure to move slow enough to let her pass him, to let her take the lead and control, to let her win. He tried this trick once before with Erebos and he moved too slow, too obviously trying to let his friend win, but now… He has learned, and so his act might almost seem real. Perhaps not totally real, not yet, he still has much to learn, but every day he learns more about lying to make others like him, lying so that they will not see the real him and recoil in terror.
