You approach the mysterious, black tent of the World's Edge. Uniquely shaped glass spires twist elegantly, sparkling in the sun as they accentuate the forested clearing.

It is a happiness you haven’t known since losing Th’orqui. You don’t know what it is, but something about this island in the clouds lifts your spirits; here, your cares drift away as easily as the mist from the waterfalls vanishes in the breeze. You’ve gone running and racing; you’ve met new friends; you’ve basked in the sunlight and bathed in the streams. It’s a good feeling, and you find the change of pace relaxing. This place is the opposite of those horrible caves: it’s open and airy and exciting, and you can’t wait to explore. So, in the time between forging friendships and stretching your wings, you decide to go exploring. Who knows what you’ll find here? You can’t say, but you have a good feeling about it.

You start along the perimeter of the island, flying as low as possible, skimming above the waterfalls and darting in and out of the rainbows, giggling girlishly at the way the light hangs in the air. When you tire of that—or rather, when the call of the next adventure becomes to insistent for your curiosity to ignore, you tear yourself away from the waterfalls and land, touching down in a grove of cherry trees and heading towards the interior. You pass through many a meadow filled with fragrant flowers, and spend a carefree hour blowing on puffs of dandelion and snorting in amusement when you discover how to send the seeds flying into tiny whirlwinds by beating your wings. The sun is considerably further to the west when at long last, a glint catches your eye. Ever inquisitive, you head in its direction to investigate.

Approaching the top of a hill, you look down onto four colorful tents, and a sandy clearing spread between them. Each tent is exquisite, but the midnight black cloth fluttering in the breeze is what holds your attention. The slowly sinking sun backlights the supporting glass spires in a dazzling display of rainbows, and your breath catches in your throat as you realize the full beauty of what you’ve discovered. Eyes wide, you head down the hill towards the black tent. At the entrance, you hesitate, but reassured by the sheer tranquility of the place and the presence of the glass (it is Kahlua’s and Dragomir’s unmistakable trademark, after all), you gather your courage and thrust your head within. As your grey eyes adjust to the dimmer lighting inside, you call out, wondering if anyone else has been drawn here—surely they have, after all, who are the tents for? “Hello?” you ask, looking around, half expecting to see the queen herself hiding in a corner. She lacks wings, but you've seen stranger things today. Besides, Africa managed to get here, didn't she? “Kahlua?”

The painted queen, finally freed from her depression by the help of Kaj, Evangeline and the Lady Moon, decided that she needed to return to the goddess' shrine to give her thanks for the wise words that the Moon had bestowed upon her. Doing a final round of the Edge, to be certain she was not needed for the moment, the queen broke past the border of her home and headed off at a canter towards the shrines she knew so well. It was nearing sunset by the time she arrived, only to find her hooves swallowed up by clouds and her body rising from the ground. The queen suddenly whinnied out in a panic, momentarily trying to fight magic that had enclosed her, but the queen had faith in the gods and in time her heart slowed and her eyes widened as she realized where the magic clouds were taking her. And while she was an equine, not necessarily meant for the skies, the queen began to enjoy the feeling of the wind in her mane and the ground growing small beneath her.

The clouds finally rose the queen to the edge of a floating island, stopping near a collection of colorful tents that sent the queen gasping with joy. She did not know what this place was, but she trusted it implicitly and bounded from her cloud carrier onto the island with joy. Adding to her joy, it seemed that the gods had timed this meeting. A very familiar voice called out, seemingly from within one of the tents. “Nasreen!” the queen cried out joyously, quickly approaching the black tent. Though the dark fabric was ominous in the setting sun, the beautiful glass spires gave the queen peace and she entered the tent without hesitation. Besides, if Nasreen was in there, it had to be safe.

“What is this place!?” she called out as she burst through the entrance, trotting up to her friend and attempting to throw her neck around Nasreen's own, as she had several times before. Backing up, she shared a knowing smile with Nasreen, wondering what new sort of magic had fallen upon the pair. Would every meeting of theirs be wrought with strange circumstances and unknown magic? The queen did not know, but she found the mystery entrancing. In the back of her head, she thought of her herd and wondered if any of the rest of them knew of this place. She would have to return to the Edge soon, to divulge the information.

It seems that the gods have willed that no adventure is complete without Kahlua. Sure enough, your friend is here, but her voice sounds from behind you instead of from the shadows of the drapery. As she calls your name, you turn around to a rush of black and white and a warm greeting, which you happily return. “Hello!” you exclaim, nearly dancing in place with excitement. “What is this place!?” she asks you, gesturing to the tent. “I don’t know,” you reply, giggling, “I was just about to ask you the same thing! I had a feeling you’d be here, somehow I just knew—wait, how did you get here, by the way? I mean, I know that there’s magic; after all, this place is floating, but I didn’t see a way…” You prattle on in this manner, your happy babble filling the space as you tell her this and that about the story of your own arrival and your exploration of the island so far. “…and have you seen the waterfalls yet?” you go on, eyes widening in enthusiasm as you continue your chatter, “They’re the most beautiful thing, making rainbows everywhere! I can’t believe it!” And you’re off again, recalling how pretty it was to fly through the spectrums that seemed to hang in midair. Finally, you pause to take a breath and realize that you’ve been monopolizing the conversation.

“Sorry!” you laugh sheepishly, ducking your head. “I never did give you a chance to say…how did you get all the way up here, Kahlua? Was it magic?” Your grey eyes take on a dreamy quality, and you pirouette like a drunken ballerina at the last word. Magic never ceases to amaze you; it was something that you rarely saw in Th’orqui but that seems to be abundant here: the gods must be smiling down upon the Helovians. “Tell me everything!”

It seemed that neither the queen or the pegasus were entirely sure of the location they were in, but this wouldn't be the first time they had wandered into a mysterious, cloudy location together. But it didn't matter for the queen, because as soon as she had asked she was given mile after mile of explanation. And while some might have grown bored from the fantastic descriptions, turned their head or started pawing the ground, Kahlua listened with the rapt attention she possessed in her meager body. It didn't even bother her that she didn't have time to answer the question she had been asked. Had she been a child, a human child, she would have been grasping Nasreen's hands, staring deep into her eyes with a stupid grin on her face as she hung on each and every word.

It was the mention of the waterfalls and rainbows that finally broke her from her stance, sending her whirling back out the entrance of the tent to stare at all the majesty she had not originally noticed. And, indeed, as the setting sun sent it rays of light through the clouds and falls and mist, Kahlua was surrounded with the beautiful colors of too many rainbows to count. “It's gorgeous!” she chirped, looking back to see if Nasreen had followed her out of the billowing tent, listening all the while that Nasreen recalled her flight through the pastel skies. Oh, what it would be like to fly. Kahlua sighed in awe of the romance behind the idea. She had often watched Kaj's flight above her, but had never desired to join him until now.

But now it was her turn to talk and she immediately exclaimed, “Clouds!!” She quickly followed up with the story of her rather uneventful travel to the veins, the billowing clouds that suddenly surrounded her hooves and solidified as she had made it onto the rocky bridge, the fear she had originally felt as she had been lifted from the ground, and how that fear had melted away as she realized it was just as Nasreen had said- “Magic!” The dreamy tone in the queen's voice was unmistakable. This place was mysterious and strange, but exciting all the same. And what better way to enjoy it than with one of her favorite friends?

But then the queen's voice suddenly changed from one of wispy endearment to an excited, bouncing and bubbling tone. “Oh Nasreen, it's just perfect, like we were meant to find each other here.” And she turned away from the waterfalls and rainbows, the clouds and the other tents that lingered in the distance, blue eyes looking deeply into her friend's own. “Kaj and I have talked and made a decision together about the herd...” and she trailed off, but she was nearly dancing out of her hooves with elation. She had been looking for Nasreen ever since she had started to feel better about the whole Aurelia thing. “How would you like to take on more responsibility in the Edge?” She stopped again, holding her breath, like she was going to give Nasreen time to actually answer, but she just couldn't hold it in and she blurted out in girlish elation. “Oh, be our Seer!! Please!” And her begging blue eyes were almost misty with the joy of the idea. Nasreen as Seer. It would be wonderful!

As you chattered away about the waterfalls, your friend had listened to it all, eventually standing at the entrance to the tent so as to see for herself. Now, you move to join her at the flap, eager to hear about her own journey here. And satisfy your curiosity she does, explaining about the fantastic magic that had carried her here. You listen in wide-eyed wonder, gasping at the appropriate times and whinnying in excitement at the moment when she tells you about the magical clouds. The idea fascinates you, and you can’t help but interject, “Oh, Kahlua, we have to go flying together!” You can imagine nothing better than taking to the skies with your companion—just picturing the look that will surely be on her face as Kahlua gets to experience flight sends a shiver of anticipation through your feathers, which you ruffle excitedly. Flying is one of your main joys in life, and to be able to share it with one destined to be ground-bound? Oh, the gods must be smiling indeed!

Kahlua seems to agree. “It’s just perfect,” she finishes, “like we were meant to find each other here.” You grin. “Destiny!” you laugh, lipping at her mane fondly, reaching out to groom her as you would a sister. “The gods couldn’t have chosen a better place,” you conclude happily, gazing around at the other three magnificent tents. You turn to Kahlua again and are surprised to find her looking decidedly more serious. Not in a somber way, but as if she has something important to say. Before you can guess what it could possibly be, she speaks. “Kaj and I have talked and made a decision together about the herd,” she begins, and you nod with your best attempt at solemnity. Sometimes in your silliness, you forget that your friend is the queen of the Edge (after all, the monarchy here is so different from that in Th’orqui), but this sounds like official business. “How would you like to take on more responsibility in the Edge?” Kahlua asks. Of course, you would love to help your friend in any way possible, and briefly you wonder if she knows what you do about the wall. You are about to tell her as much when, as if she can’t hold it in any longer, Kahlua positively bursts with her task for you, beaming as she exclaims, “Oh, be our Seer!! Please!” She is so elated that you can’t help but squeal back, feeding off of her energy. “Yes!! Anything!” you reply wholeheartedly, “Whatever you need!” You dance alongside her, spinning out into the sandy clearing between the tents as you prance about. You’re so busy celebrating this obviously very important moment, that something slips your mind until… “Wait, I just have one question: what does a Seer…do?”

OOC: Lol. Way to blow the interview, Nasreen XD

“Oh, let's do!” The painted girl responded almost immediately to Nasreen's request to go flying. Having gotten over her initial fright of the concept, the whole idea was very romantic. And to go with Nasreen, who would not chastise Kahlua for letting her inner child roam free... Well, the idea was almost too grand to bear. Perhaps that was why the queen loved Nasreen so very much, though. Resplendence was her sister in all but blood, but Res was always there to offer a watchful eye and remind Kahlua not to get hurt. Alysanne was amazing, her heart and soul equally pure, but Aly was so mature that Kahlua sometimes felt too childish around her. But with Nasreen... Oh, with Nasreen she could let her heart run free. She could be young again and not worry one bit about being too overwhelming or childish.

And when Nasreen responded affirmatively that she would be the Seer of the herd, watch over the Edge's business and commune with the goddess... Oh, Kahlua nearly bounced from her hooves, pressing up against her friend in jubilant devotion to the newest member of your council. Kahlua followed her immediately into the sand then, to trot about and otherwise act merry. How long had it been since she had been this exuberant, effusive, emotive? It was too long- it just felt right. To wear her heart on her sleeve, to show her friend and gods what she knew in her own soul... Why would anyone ever want to hide their feelings?

And so the queen laughed merrily at Nasreen's question- there was no mocking in her voice, for how could the queen mock her newest best friend? No, the laugh was happy and excited, full of possibilities for the future. “Well you'll be on our council, to help Kaj and I make decisions when we need it. And to help trials, if we ever have to hold one. But most importantly, you'll get to talk to the Lady Moon herself, to carry her word back to the herd!” And Kahlua prattled on for a minute about how the Moon Goddess would appear in the mists of the Edge, only to the eyes of the Seer, and divulge information or secrets or her wishes for the herd. And how Nasreen would then have to relay that information back to the herd. Also, how she would be the head of any philosophers in the herd. Oh, and the most important thing... “She'll grant you magic!” And Kahlua waited excitedly, patiently, hoping that her friend would not change her mind now that she knew all the responsibilities that came with the position.

Looking around in amazement and disbelief it was hard to imagine that everything before her was not a dream. With the darkness having fallen over them before and all the events that followed how could there be something resembling such tranquility? Reaching up she grazed her muzzle against the tender pink flowers inhaling their sweet scent. They were beautiful and so appeasing to look at, how could they exist in a world filled with so much darkness? Moving forward another couple steps so that she had her front hooves upon the rocks she gazed over the edge to the wondrous cascade of water surrounding the island. Never in her lifetime had she ever seen something quite like this, how had she gotten here anyway? One minute she had been staring up to the floating island from down below and the next she had somehow arrived on top of it. Had she finally lost what remained of her mind? Surely a cloud could not have carried her here like she remembered...

When the tent had come into view the grey did a double take to make sure she was still viewing things that were real. The tall glass spires that twisted up around the fabric reminded her of the beautiful glass sculptures that Kahlua could make, speaking of Kahlua.. Standing nearby the familiar painted frame came into view along with another pegasus that she only knew from herd meetings. Surely if they were both here this was not some crazy dream, so she could hope.

"Kahlua? What is this place do either of you know?" She questioned when she had finally closed the gap between herself and the pair. As she awaited an answer she couldn't help but examine the structure of the tent and its supports, it was all just so weird yet wonderful. This place was surely too good to be true, what was the hidden catch?

Kahlua laughs good-naturedly at your query before happily launching into an explanation. You are relieved that she doesn’t find your question stupid, for you are feeling a little foolish. However, your embarrassment soon turns to awe as she tells you what a Seer does: you will sit on the royal council, assist with trials…your eyes widen at the thought. You? On the council? For a moment, you think that Kahlua must be mistaken—why, you are far too inexperienced to have the wisdom it takes to help run a herd! Can’t she see that? You don’t wish to disappoint her, but a minor position was more what you had in mind, something more along the lines of making the wall safe. You hesitate, unsure of how to tell her as much, when her next words stop you dead in your tracks. “You’ll get to talk to the Lady Moon herself,” Kahlua informs you jubilantly, explaining that the goddess appears to the Seer to send her word to the herd. Your jaw drops, and you gasp aloud. “What an honor!” you exclaim, nearly breathless at the idea of it. So very few were privileged to know the gods, and to have this chance to serve one directly and to help Kahlua all in one fell stroke…how could you take back your reply in the affirmative when all this stood on the line?

You bite your lip as the queen goes on, detailing the full list of your responsibilities and adding that the goddess will even grant you magic. The job at hand excites you tremendously, and the rewards are certainly enticing…but are you up for it? As much as you wish that you were, you are dubious. Therefore, when Kahlua’s speech draws to a close, you shift your weight nervously, afraid of what she will say when you express your concerns. It is an awkward confession, but you would rather that your friend reconsider her offer now than having the moon goddess herself find you unworthy later. “I…” you begin, but your halting dialogue is interrupted by the arrival of another mare.

You don’t know whether you are upset or relieved at her entrance; at any rate, your confession dies on your lips as you turn your attention to the newcomer. She looks vaguely familiar, and she seems to know Kahlua (no surprise there, you think fondly), but you have never met. “We don’t know what this place is either,” you greet her with a smile, “but isn’t it wonderful? I’m Nasreen, by the way—I don’t believe we’ve met.”

OOC: Just to clarify, her answer remains yes...she's just secretly really nervous about the whole thing ;)

What an honor! The queen couldn't agree more. “And just think how proud Quilyan will be,” she added a moment layer, cooing softly. She was so proud of all of her friends. So many of them were so eager to help the herd, to make the Edge grander than it was before. Nasreen was so different, she was certain. And though she did not notice the hesitation in her friends voice, Kahlua certainly would have ignored it if she had noticed. After all, she had been nervous about being queen. When the Moon Goddess had dropped down from the sky, called Kaj and the Sunshower to her, and commanded that they lead the Edge... well, the queen had been dumb-founded and flabbergasted but what else could she do but accept? And so she had, and she had shivered in her hooves in fear for what was to come- but look at her now. She had grown into a fabulous mare.

Luckily, a distraction from the nervous excitement quickly presented itself in the form a friend. “Brisa!” she called out, and Nasreen quickly answered the question that had been asked. And when the new Seer had finished answer, Kahlua added on. “But it's just gorgeous isn't it. All the flowers! All the waterfalls!” She sighed dreamily and spun about as Nasreen had done earlier. “And it's like this tent was made just for us. Nasreen found it and- Oh!” She suddenly brightened, as though she had remembered something. “Nasreen is going to be our new Seer, isn't it fantastic?!” And she looked happily between the two of them, rather pleased with herself for announcing it all. Poor Nasreen, but Kahlua couldn't help herself at all.

And so while she happily stepped back to accept Brisa into their little meeting, her eyes rolled contentedly over all of the mystic landscape and magical surroundings. “Did you come up by cloud? My hooves were surrounded and I was carried into the sky. It was frightening and fantastic all at the same time...” More wistful sighs. Kahlua was in love with the land already.
