illynx,
It had been too long since she had come to bask in the light of the valley and call upon her herd mates to take part in a challenge of physical strength, mostly because she had been busy with the tasks of motherhood and pregnancy but also with the daily matters of the herd. Thankfully, all that walking had done much to return her usual strength and to trim away the fat stores that had built along her lines while she had carried Rikyn within her and during the heaviest months of his nursing. She was not as lean as she had been before birth, to be sure, but she was still in better shape and form than she had been in her earliest of years brandishing a sword.

Vigor lined each even step as she approaches her usual knoll of practice, the lake to the east a good quarter of a mile and the entrance to the vale within eye shot, most of the hills subtle if nonexistent in this quarter of the mountain land and providing good, even footing. Her armor shines in the afternoon light and the clear sky shows little sign of changing without a single white cloud in sight, a glance given to Kyst as she soundlessly departs from the metal plated back of her bonded and into the Tallsun grasses, bounding to the outskirts of the large region. Even without a word, the griffon knows from the emotional tension in her friend that there is going to be combat here today, and there are no warnings needed to send her out of the range of the foray. Too young to be of use in the field, today is a day that she will learn.

Following the path of the magical bird creature is her son, eagerness writ into each step as he bounds to the griffon’s side and comes to an anxious halt to watch his mother prepare for her call of challenge. It is standard to her to test the soldiers of her home, but it is the first time in her son’s life that he will get to witness her dancing, and she is both nervous and excited about the endeavor, an unusual set of emotions to ripple beneath her ice coated surface.

Lifting her dark maw to the heavens, she unleashes her words out into the valley, calling whoever wishes to raise their blade in tribute to the ancient Gods of combat on this day. ”My brethren, come bring your Lady a challenge!”

[ Open spar, preferably for Basin members as it is set inside the borders. <3

Spar, 3 posts each with a closing defense.
Setting: Early afternoon in the region of land between the pathway into the Basin and the shores of the lake, flat and grassy; the sky is clear and the sun beats down on the field, making it somewhat hot. ]

A blotch of ebony painted upon a canvas of white, moving with dignified strides, long, slender supports moving with head high. Grace in each step, carrying forth a body of slender elegance, crafted with perfect curvature and noble, high steps. Features of royalty painted perfectly upon a face of purity, gems of an earthen green placed in a perfect spot with a crystalline sword upon a delicately crafted brow. Thin, slender whip lashes about, sweeping up permafrost. Breezing through the Basin with ashen mane sweeping over sloping shoulders, tassels tossed in the wind, cloven hooves kicking up pure snow that falls back to the ground.

Another bay bodice is spotted in the snowy plains, a call of a queen ringing out through the valley. Milk chocolate auds flicker to hear the call, gait quickening to reach the golden woman upon the grass. In response to the GildedBlade’s challenge, swift movements bring ebony body to the gold-legged mare. "I am here, m’lady. however I seek teachings rather than challenges." Soft, monotone words tainted with fear fall gently from her darkened lips. Moving forward to meet the Lady, she stands before this woman in gold, her ashen companion at her side with silver almonds narrowed towards the ebony warrior.

She prepared herself for the GildedBlade’s attacks, heart going from a slow, steady beat to a quick, irregular pulse. Having never fought before, the ebony fem was nervous, as fights were thought to be foolish. Somewhere there’s a nudge, a small boost of confidence as the long legged elken childe whispers that it will be okay, not to fret about it. Offering a loose, twisted smile that does not reflect through jaded eyes, she takes a hesitant step to the side.
"Speech."

illynx,
The one that approaches her is not one of her scar laden soldiers or even a true adult, but the spotted figure of a girl that had grown up in the safety of the mountains and become quite the pretty sight as many of the women in the Basin were and had come to be under the watchful eyes of the golden wench. She wasn’t really sure from where the child had come, having arrived shortly after her birth from an excursion in the wilds, but she had enjoyed watching her grow with the others none the less, feeling in her selfish heart that, in ways, Frost Fyre and the other children of that year were hers because of the fact that she had known them when they were small and full of starlight, before they had grown into whatever they were now.

Most of the kids had wandered out as adventure called them, and while the girl had seemed to vanish for a time, she was back – and that was all that mattered to the Lady. The shyness with which she carries herself as she approaches is almost endearing, though Illynx was never as without confidence as this, even in her most untrained years; not all can be hardened as she, however, and she almost instantly forgives the display of weakness as the girl speaks and announces her reasons for approaching.

Nodding smoothly, a smile blooming on her lips, the Lady braces her own figure, her golden legs spreading for support and her limber body flexing for maximum speed. She assumes this is one of the first situations of combat that Frost has found herself in, and adjusts her strategies accordingly – opening with a much less aggressive stance and tactic than she might have against a more skilled opponent.

Driving to the right of the young mare at a swift canter, she pulls suddenly in towards the figure of the appaloosa and feints with her golden horn, a single parry seemingly aimed at the right side of the other unicorn nearest the dangerous tip – but at the last moment before the assumed impact, she pulls away, tucking her front end low as her hind quarters wrap around to send her hind legs kicking sharply out behind her. She hopes to strike somewhere in the middle of Frost’s height with her hind hooves, perhaps the shoulder or side, but the main point of it all was to begin the battle with one of her more useful tricks.

Others usually assumed a unicorn would depend on their horn – only to eat mouthfuls of flailing hooves.

Pulling away from the pivoting maneuver, she charges forward several paces to reduce the chance of counter assault, building electricity along her horn as she does so; her will pouring into the magic stifles the sounds and movements of the younger mare behind her, but her ragged ear is pulled back to give further focus to the location of the spotted damsel as Illynx collects the power along her weapon. Her words are slightly ragged as she breaths deep to keep her blood cooled and her focus strong on the pull of her magic, an explanation of her attack finding the air – this was a lesson, after all. ”Don’t depend on your horn as a weapon. Others surely will,” a breathless ring of laughter breaks the core of her words apart, ”use that to your advantage, instead.”

Darting back to the left suddenly, she pushes speed into her limbs as she loops around in a quarter circle, hoping to drive towards Frost’s face with blue sparks raining from the contained power along her prized horn. She unleashes the magic at the earth around the hooves of the girl, hoping to startle her and potentially drive her back or up onto her hind legs, where she will be more prone to the assault the Lady brings.

Without slowing her charge, she follows in behind the last of the bolts with her shoulder angled and her body braced for impact, hoping to shove into the crystalline horned young mare head on and upset her balance; in a flowing motion, she pulls her head back and up, gaining a better angle to aim the flat length of her horn in a smack along the upper shoulder or neck of the appaloosa unicorn, careful to avoid breaking the skin should she make contact and prepared to adjust the strike should Frost Fyre manage to parry in time.

Forgot to mention that this has the regular time constraints on spars unless Dark needs more time. :3 ]
