Birds swing in lazy circles above the shoreline, calling to each other in sharp voices.

Gentle waves crash endlessly against the shoreline, leaving the sand wet with salty moistness.

The sands glitter like stars upon the shoreline, ushering your gaze down the beach.

Is there something there, upon the shoreline? Perhaps only a mirage, but within your reach.

A beach uninterrupted suddenly was, by oak and brass and bone,

A beach uninterrupted was again, by a grin, in teeth and stone.

It is a door you see, upon the shoreline, standing impossibly on its own.

There's a jaw bone too, upon the shoreline, grinning devilishly all alone.

Should you pass the door upon the shoreline that had suddenly appeared,

You would see nothing upon the shoreline: the door had disappeared.

A beach uninterrupted from one side only, by a door and the grin of the dead,

A beach further interrupted (perhaps by you), in a trial that remains unsaid.

Do you spy a key upon the shoreline? Or will the door open at your touch?

The jaw grins up at you from the shoreline, but I'm afraid it isn't saying much.

So as you stand upon the shoreline, the time of your choosing is now.

You see the 'what' upon the shoreline, which only leaves the 'how'.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black

Sometimes it is very difficult being blind. Like the times when you wonder why on your beach when you had desired some alone time (you are almost always alone, which makes the exceptions all the more noticeable), and perhaps even more so, when you cannot figure out what they are doing on your beach.

Morir doesn't see the door that so mysteriously stand upon the sand. He doesn't see the parrot of a horse that circle around it either, but he can hear her footsteps in the sand. The picture it paints in his brain is confusing; she is clearly focused on something, but what? Nothing out of the ordinary create a sound here. There is only wind and gulls and the rush of the sea, and the infuriating sound of padding hooves that move around and around... and stop.
The beast frown beneath the pallid mask, so similar to the white-washed bone that lie before the door. Curiosity always been one of his more endearing traits, and today it is as alive and well as always. Unbidden and without introductions he start forward, a looming shadow that seem very out of place on this sunlit shoreline. He has always been a creature of the night and dark, grim in thought and lonely of spirit; yet today he move without hesitation towards the colorful bird, drawn by a desire to know what she is up to, why she stopped, what the heck she is doing here in the first place.

Brusquely and with no respect for personal space he press in on her, sliding up on her right with so little distance remaining between sun-kissed skin that a slight movement from either might cause them to crash together. Disregarding any protests or warnings he reach out the roman nose before a thickly arched neck, breath hot and slightly sweet as quivering nostrils crave to discover what she is holding in her mouth.

Without really meaning to he find the soft velvet of the muzzle brushing against the cool, unfeeling surface of bone, so familiar and calming; and when he flinch in surprise he nudge something else, something different. Something that didn't belong on an empty, sunlit beach; a wooden surface, solid and unyielding.

Something is definitely going on here, and Morir is dying to know what it is. Even the fragrant, tempting presence of the mare is second in his mind to this - though, should he manage to figure out this mystery that might very well change.

    BELLONA
Not long after her race with Gull the vixen crashes through the birds of his namesake, causing an uproar of squawks and insults as she passes them by. Although it felt good to disturb their peaceful sailing, it had not been her intention to fly in their midst; her eyes had locked on something very shiny far below, and curiosity has replaced the outrage that took hold of the defeated maiden. She even goes as far as to compliment the shore for its beauty. Gods that shore is bright. Well, it’s a compliment in her eyes.

She makes her descent in a rapidly tightening spiral, absorbing the impact with barred legs as her eyes take in the scenery. The wind whips green locks around her head while she surveys the area. A tall thing is standing near where the waves hit the shore. Almost as soon as she has lain her eyes upon it, the chieftess feels that it is her duty to investigate. Lean pillars move confidently through the ocean’s wake as she goes to circle around the object, but just as soon as her head moves past the oaken frame, it is gone. A snort of surprise escapes from its colorful prison. What magic is this?! The confused peahen reels back from where the thing had been, inadvertently crossing an imaginary line that separates invisible foreign object from visible foreign object. Suddenly, the image reappears.

What the fuck is going on? Is this that blazing brute again? Ears lash back against her skull in distaste. Her last meeting with the God had gone rather well, until she had pushed the boundaries a little. In the bird’s opinion, it was he who was missing out, and not the proud vixen who had unknowingly refused one of his gifts. She had been too caught up with teaching the little copycat a lesson, anyway. Not that she ever did anything about that. Not yet.

Her thoughts provide ample distraction in the worst of times, and the vibrant creature dispels her bitter memories with a sharp flick of her head. Orange pools narrow as she does this, for some other object has made it appearance on the beach. And from what the hybrid could guess, it too did not belong here.

Casting a suspicious gaze to the door, the spy mouths, I’m watching you, before approaching the other peculiarity. The shape is more familiar to her this time, and she can easily define it as the jawbone of some unfortunate beast. A dark thought invades her mind. What if that tall thing over there had something to do with the bone before her? Could it have been the door that dealt this beast its untimely death? Better it than me, are her only words on the manner. Might as well make use of it.

Gripping the sun-bleached bone between her teeth, the maiden – who does not flinch from the macabre or gruesome topics of life – returns to the oaken sentry. She had intended to beat down the door with this new weapon of hers, but upon further inspection of the wooden thing she notices a tiny hole upon its surface. Not wasting any time in exploiting this new discovery, the cunning woman positions the jawbone inside the lock, thinking to use it as some sort of key. Given that this is her only tool, the maiden is certain that is as good an attempt as any. Now, with her part done, it is fate’s turn to decide if she is worthy.

{OMG I DELETED MY POST BY ACCIDENT! It is supposed to be in front of Morir's post. D: I feel so silly now.

Bellona grabs the jawbone and fits it into the lock on the door, trying to open it.

    Still under 600 words. Seeks a common rougarou companion. Wishlist Denial}

I can fake a smile, I can force a laugh. I can hold the weight of worlds.

It seems that the shoreline stretches out for miles. The sand seeming to be eaten up by the sky. Elsa releases a sigh, enjoying the light breeze that rolls off of the ocean. Although she had loved the sky island, this walk on the beach was a much needed break. She then begins to giggle at one fond memory she had here in involving Lace-Face and Oxy. Oh how stupid she was back then... at least she had grown up a little bit, right? Her thoughts were then rudely interrupted by a calling of birds. She looks up, only to follow the gaze downwards to a door. It didn't seem like much at first, but then everything seemed a bit off.

As she stood a mere few feet from the door, next to it lied a jaw bone of a the dead. She cringed, not knowing what to do. What could a door hold behind it? It wasn't such a secret if you could walk right around it! But, as she passed the door it seemed to melt into the day, like it was never there. She grunted, quite confused as she walked back around the door to see it, and the skull appear again.

Two others were there too, looking about. One took the jaw and jammed it into the door. It wasn't exactly what Elsa was thinking... but maybe it'd work? Elsa wanted to peer through though, so she attempted to freeze a part of the door, not near the lock, and looked at the others to back up a little. It was down in the lower left corner, and attempted to kick a hole in it. If they couldn't get it unlocked, at least they could see through the door?

    "Talketh."
[ooc;// edited so that it works with others. didn't realize we had to put everyone in xD elsa is attempting to break open the door by weakening it with ice then kicking it in.

Now light a match, stand back, watch them explode

From misty woodland to soft shores, the sergeant made his way onto the comforting beach with a dance in his step. Oh, how long had it been since he'd ventured to much sandier abodes! The wild salty air whipped his mane and ragged it whichever way it pleased, leaving the bright eyed soldier with nothing but joy in his gaze. There was something about beaches that made the heart lurch and the spirit soar, like it had its own sense of freedom and soul, the sand lay tranquil where the raging sea had left it. Few were the times in Fiore's life when he had managed to steal a trip to the beach and the tobiano combatant had stolen a cheeky trip away from his duties, if only for the briefest of time, to enjoy the scenery Helovia seemed to have plenty of.

Of course, he wouldn't have even known it was here had he not stumbled across it when ambling south on a curious mission to see more of the landscape that shaped the land, in which now he lived. Fiore had spent his past life as a roaming sell sword or handyman, he guarded patches of land or helped find new fodder. His tourist like life had not quite left him fully yet and though he was enjoying life as a permanent soldier, now and then he liked to indulge himself in personal seeking missions. Like a lazy day at the beach.

Only, of course, it wasn't going to turn out that way.

By now, Fiore had gotten used to the strange ways in which this country worked. Horses came with wings and horns (or both!), with wild animals as friends, with magic and floating islands! With Gods and dragons! He had quickly come to the conclusion that, really, anything was probably possible here. The latter, little fire breathing reptile was something he had personally become rather interested in, though how he might find such a thing was beyond him. All he could do was watch those that already lived here in awe and dream of one day having such a ferocious friend.

Today started out like any other day, weird. There was a gathering of horses whom he had never met before and what looked like an odd wooden thing stuck in the ground. The outlandish looking peacock pegasus took what looked like the remains of something and well, pushed it into the wood? Or perhaps there was something there! Fiore quickly made his way over, snorting loudly so he wouldn't startle them before inspecting the wooden contraption. Comically, he knocked one hoof against it, as if to confirm to himself that it was indeed wood. Finally, after ice had formed on part of the door, he tried pushing his shoulder against it, looking at the snowflake girl who had also just gone in with her hoof, offering her a friendly look, "let me try help too."

Drom sees the dark Morir on the beach, one of her ears tilting backwards as she continues looking at the faces. She notices Elsa next, and squeals excitedly. With excitement rushing to her growing smile, she rushes towards her friends. She notices the door next, creepy and strange. She stands and watches as one mare grabs the jawbone and one freezes. Morir simply stand there, feeling the door up the way he had done to her that day that didn't seem so long ago. Jealous, no. Weirded out, perhaps. She would never know the pain of being blind. She had perfect eyesight, and she would not let anyone take this away from her. She stands and watches wondering if there ideas will work. She halts near Elsa, curiously watching. She speaks up softly, a voice so recognizable it's strange. "Maybe we should just leave it alone. It's locked for a reason, and perhaps the bone is foreshadowing a fate you will suffer upon opening the door." She is knowledgable, yes, but she remembers the silver stallion's words about being overly knowledgable. She looks at the ground, feeling ashamed for being the stick in the mud. The safe one. When has she ever been so un-brave? She flattens her ears. Why can't she be the one to open it?

She lets out a snort before she prances closer to the door. "If ya'll are so eager to open it, why not just kick it down and get on with it?" Oh, yes, Drom has indeed taken over the position of offering suggestions, but not doing anything. Elsa moves to kick the frozen spot, perhaps she has decided to do this on her own, but Drom is not going to go in such a brutish manner. She is also not going to pick the lock. Could whatever lives inside be lulled out by a singing voice? She begins to hum slightly, unsure if her friends can hear her through their determination and plans. The tune is dark and sad. She sings it wonderfully, her voice thick and deep. Tunes like the deeper strings of a cello or bass. Though in a good mood, her tune is so sad those around her would think of her as depressed or otherwise. She notices a paint join them and help Elsa kick at the door, Drom ignores him and continues.

    ooc:
She seeks a brown dragon with the fire element ability! :3
So, she basically suggests a few ideas and waits to see if their plans work. Without waiting to see if they do, Drom begins humming an extremely sad song, intended to bring whoever is inside the door out.
edit: also, i was unsure if singing was an option :\ so sorry if it isn't!

Watching the waves wash up along the beach as she walked along with her feet sinking into the deep sand the pale fae tried to enjoy the day. The sun was shining and the weather was still warm no one could complain about that. Lowering her head so her upper lip skimmed the water's surface she watched as the small undersea creatures frantically swam to get out of her way zipping this way and that way. They were brilliant little things that were very flashy and appeasing to watch but they never dared to wander close enough to interact.

Rainbow colours caught her view drawing her gaze to a lovely girl up upon the beach. She was awe struck by her colours and grew envious of her brightly coloured canvas compared to her own of white and silver. As her eyes focused outward from the mare another strange object came into view seemingly standing upon the sand with no help what so ever. Two others examined the door as if trying to get something inside it, surely there couldn't be anything in it? Trailing from the waters to examine the door for herself her aqua orbs trailed over the smoothness of its features right down to the ivory bones adorning it. The thought of the bones gave her a little chill of unease surely death was nothing to mess around with.

Watching the painted mare fiddle around with the grotesque jawbone in what she assumed was the lock, she wondered if it might work. The stallion seemed to stand around waiting for the task to succeed while the other white pegasus attempted brute force to knock the door down. The bone being the key seemed like the most logical answer to this problem but perhaps it was only placed there to confuse them. Looking around for something else that might be of use such as a rib from remaining carcass or the jawbone. Finding no other bones she resented to the next best thing and moved to pick up some objects commonly washed up upon the shore. A couple long sticks, a slender stone and a oblong shaped shell were of her picks. Carrying them back to the door she rested them down at its threshold before turning to the rainbow mare. "Any progress with that? Maybe something else could fit in the lock better to open it? I got these items that may work." She commented kindly not wanting to come across as rude or as if she was trying to be bossy.

Reaching out with her muzzle she tries to grasp the handle. Perhaps turning the handle might open the door with the bone in its lock?

NOTES: Brisa likes Bellona's idea but on the chance that the jawbone does not work she has gathered other items to try instead. Tries to turn the door handle while Bellona is still fiddling with the lock.

"A door? Here? Why?" Rei tilted her head and looked the door up and down. "The God's have been acting rather playful lately, do you all think that they might have something to do with it?" Maybe the God's themselves are stood on the other side, wouldn't that be something? This odd array of Helovians springing the door open to a group of gods milling about on the other side. The thought left a chuckle with her before leaving on its merry way. She had met the Sun God. It wouldn't be his style to stand behind a door while they stood on the other side. If he had been on the other side he would have already burned it down to the ground and would have proceeded to get wrathy over their impertinence ruining his evening.

She pranced around the door, observing it from every angle. "Anything that is locked must be protecting treasures within." Mischievously she looked at those around her, "We must get this open or I won't be able to be content."

She wrinkled her nose at the jaw bone. It was a great idea, she was glad that someone else had thought to try it before she had to grab it herself. Rei hoped that the skeletal remains wouldn't be the key to unlocking the door. The lighthearted pegasus hoped to find happy things on the other side and the thought of a door with a bone as a key was a rather foreboding thought. If one was superstitious wouldn't it even be considered a bit of a bad omen?

I think that as a group we are working towards the answer. With what looks to be the key, a turning of the knob, singing, and others working to push the door open once the key has unlocked it we may have this! We even have other possible keys." Rei worked to catch the eye of the mare who had thought to search for alternative objects for unlocking the door. It was a smart move, one that she thought deserved recognition. I would be overwhelmed at the sight of so many strangers at my doorstep. What if we all introduced ourselves?"

"I am Rei," she crooned, "None of us mean any harm. Curiosity brought us here, we simply wish to learn more about yourself and you door. It is gorgeous. Very well crafted. Did you make it yourself?"

Rei then walked around digging her hooves into the soft sand around the door. If there was someone who was on the other side of the door, and they were cautious enough to not open the door for the gathering crowd then chances were that they wouldn't leave the key to their door in clear sight. Although the bone was a clever item to be used to do how inconspicuous of a key it made.

She wandered a short distance from the door in order to turn over a few rocks to see if there was anything underneath of them. While in the area she also plucked a few wildflowers from the ground. Rei meticulously set each one in a certain position creating an arrangement to offer as a welcoming gift.
    _____________________________________________________________________

OOC: Rei tries to serve as a motivator, she tries to encourage the group to work a a team. She wonders if there may be someone on the other side of the strange door. Speaking directly to whoever may be there she worked to make them more comfortable. She then dug near the door and looked under rocks for any other possible keys and goes off to find a gift of welcome and extends an offer of friendship for in case someone is behind the door.

She would like a Zephyr Phoenix companion.

The shadow of the Edge hovers over the northern end of the beach. It is as close as the young belle has come to her former dwelling, as close as her sense of apprehension would allow. It wasn't that she was actively avoiding the place - or was it? - but more that she had been pulled elsewhere. Guilt tore at her, though she swallowed it down, as she did most any and everything she felt, repressing the emotions so that they did not affect her interpretation of the events unfolding around her.

Quite a crowd had gathered upon the sands, and the girl hesitantly approached, the curious nature of her draconic side too strong to ignore. With ears pricked, she watched as many seemed to be doing strange activities - but why?

She saw it then, the curious, wonderful, puzzling thing, that disappeared as her frame rounded upon it, soon re-appearing as she adjusted her path. A draconic laugh spouts from her single blue companion this day, as he plays with the birds nearby, sending Amaris images of the strange apparition from his aerial view. The dragon-girl hesitates again, her motion paused by a troubling, yet hopeful thought - could her mother be behind that door? The door that shimmered like a mirage, could surely only be hiding a similar Mirage?

The hope burned through her, and she approached it now with renewed vigour, determined to see if she too could help the others unlock this strange thing. But of the others, none of the plans seem to really appeal to the dragon-girl, whose companion trills from the skies above and spouts another flame. The shadow of the Edge to the North gives her an idea, as it reminds her of the glass that the Edge was so famous for creating and using.

In the wet sand, the girl digs a small hole, ensuring a trench is built up to deter the waves filling it. And into this hole, using the scythe at the end of her dextrous, strong tail, she scoops enough dry sand to fill it. With a polite request to her current blue companion, she then watches as it burns and melts together, forming a pool of molten sand - which would dry, hopefully, to a glassy surface, which might reflect an image - say, that of a mysterious door - if the young golden girl was fortunate enough. With a satisfied nod, she thanked her spirit-friend for his assistance, and knocked the wall of wet sand down, to allow a waves to sizzle and crackle over the molten sand.

Though still warm, the girl used her scaled muzzle to shape and shift the rough disc of glass into something she could carry. As it cooled further, she picked it up gingerly between her teeth, and placed it before the door, standing in the sand, so that a reflection might be shown. The key to a mirage is to trick it with another illusion, her mother had said to her, and the girl hoped that the reflection of an illusion might be enough to unlock this particular one. If not, perhaps her roughly hewn disc could be used as a physical key to turn the lock, which she would try should nothing come of her original attempt.

Amaris' spirit companions use their fire to make a small mirror. She holds that mirror up so that the door might (or might not) be reflected in it, to see if its own image reflected back at it might be a key. She then also wonders if the little mirror she made doesn't work, whether it might be a physical key that does fit.

Ilios had been wondering about the lands drawn to the beach once again. There was just something about the rhythmic waves, salty air, and soft giving sand that the golden col loved. He likes how he had to work harder to life his hooves from the sucking sand, how t made his muscles sore with the effort. Suddenly silver eyes catch a crowd of horses of all kinds, wings, horns, bright colors, and muted ones. Curiosity made him pick up a quite trot interested in finding out what was going on. Once he was close enough he stopped to listen and watch ducking easily between legs and hooves to see what was happening. One tries to put a bone in the key hole, and odd brightly jeweled horse. Another light colored horse, like Mother, did some ice magic and kicked the door. She was then helped by chestnut stallion that pressed against the door as well. Another fiery red mare, with light golden locks, was very against opening the door. Ilios didn't agree with that at all, he wanted to know what was in it just as bad as everyone else. The only reason to forbid someone from going somewhere was, in his young mind, because there was something wonderful or at least interesting there. He watches as a white mare helps the jeweled one, and as the spotted speaks to the door and rather likes that idea as well as the bone for the key. Another uses fire to make a mirror, like a smooth lake, and he gazes into it as well wondering what she was thinking before turning back to look at the door.

His small voice pipes up as he presses his small muzzle to the door, "Dear whoever put this here, would you please allow me inside so I can see your marvelous secrets?" He waited hopefully he took his small hoof and knocked three times; but just in case it would not work, he turned to the white and brightly colored mare speaking louder this time, "Miss and Miss, if it isn't working this way, maybe you could turn the bone the other way?" he watched really hoping they would take his advice. If they did he leaned gently against the door his tiny ear pressed carefully to the oak wood listening for a click. "Please help me see your secrets." As he leaned softly against the door he hoped that it would allow him to come inside.

So many had gathered; a few of which were familiar faces, while others were nothing more than strangers coming together with a common objective; to get the mysterious door open.

I stood a short distance from the group that had gathered about the door, effectively crowding and blocking me from a proper viewing of the strange door. Above myself and the rest, Suli flew in wide circles around the small island, and through her eyes I could see the doorway disappearing whenever she made it past the structure, and reappearing when she came back around to the rest of us. Her head tilted back and forth every time she passed it by, violet eyes wide and curious; this was a perplexing thing to the both of us, indeed.

There was no doubt that the emerald and I were curious as to what lie beyond the door, but what if whatever it was spelled disaster for those who had come forth and were trying so hard to open it? What dark, terrible secrets could be lurking just beyond the passageway? What if it harmed not only them, but the whole of Helovia with whatever secret the door was hiding?

"Perhaps it is not wise for us to open it at all," I offered in opinion, "Helovia has seen its fair share of pain and darkness. What if more lies beyond this and is set free?" Of course, Helovia had also seen its fair share of magic and happiness, a constant reminder to me whenever my eyes befell Suli, my companion, my best friend, the better half of my aging soul.

No one can resist the draw of a God. No one. When they call to you, are you simply going to ignore them? No, you answer the call. Today, it's not the call of a God, but certainly the call of the magic and mysteriousness that surrounds them and makes up what they are in essence. Today the call has brought me to the Endless Blue, a place that I've get to really explore. My hooves take me to the waterline, and I stroll along the beach as the tide washes up around my ankles. Ahead, seagulls fly in circles overhead, drawing my attention to something ahead of me. The call. I stop and stare ahead of me, actually counting the number of bodies I see standing there. One... Two... I count ten ahead of me, all surrounding a door. A door? A door, freestanding on the beach. I approach silently and nod to those who take notice of my arrival. I recognize the face of Elsa, one of the Falls crafters, but the others are strangers to me. I stand a small distance back and observe the efforts of the others. A couple try what appears to be a jaw bone, using it as a key in the door. There's nudging, knocking,... singing? Discussing, searching. I look over and spy something shiny in the beach sand. I move over and see there is a key in the ground that no one seems to have noticed. I pick it up with my teeth, and move over toward the door. I sort of muscle my way through, finding a place for myself among the crowd. Ignoring the suggestion of one dark stallion, I decide I too will try to open the door. The mysterious door that leads to.. where? With the claw of one wing, I also knock on the door. When the crowd of faces moves away from the lock opening, I move they key in and jiggle and turn it, attempting to open it. There's a key, and a door with a key opening - they should work, right?

Just a Dreamer in the Skies

Today I have gone exploring again. I am not sure where the rest of the herd has wandered off too, so I am going off on my own too. Something pulls me not to far from home, well.... A bit farther than I had planned on going. I went past the path that leads to the Vein of the Gods, my golden eyes taking in floating island.. Maybe that is where everyone has gone. After I finish wherever I am going to explore today, maybe I should head over there too.

I pass through a forest as well, but it's different than the one I was in when Cera found me. Ah Cera, oh how I missed my friend. The more I grew the more I wondered where he was. After all, he did say he was going to look out for me. Maybe he would be with the rest of the herd.

As I reach the beach, something is different. I trot along the edge, the warm waters lapping at my hooves. My wings are tucked tightly against my frame. I am slowly learning to use them, without the help of others. My landings are the best so far, but taking off..... Well that really needs some work.

That's when I see them all. Many unicorns, equines, and pegasus all surrounding one thing. It's some kind of structure, but of what I am not sure. Everyone seems to want to open it. Something inside me agreed that I should try too. I circle the growing group first, taking in the fact that from one side the door is gone but from the other it's clear as the sun in the sky. Each seems to be either trying to work with others or working together. That's when I see her... "Elsa!" I exclaim, rushing into the crowd to be close to the one who had kept me safe when I was so little. It is the first time I have seen her since I left for the Throat. I hope she will not be mad at me.

Now I need to figure out what to try on this thing. It seems to have hinges... I wonder if I melt them away if the door will just fall open. I focus hard, two small fire balls surrounding the hinges on the door. Now to just let the heat do their job and melt them away. Then we can all know what is going on behind the door.

Ilios has been disqualified for not posting a summary at the conclusion of his post. The instructions were very clear on this point.

BELLONA: The jawbone seems to swell in Bellona's mouth. "Do I look key-shaped to you? Have you ever met a creature with bones that look like keys?" An unseen, but amused sounding voice inquired. The bone suddenly turned hot, burning the inside of Bellona's mouth and forcing her to spit the thing back into the sands. "Pity. I thought you were supposed to be the clever one."

MORIR: Nothing happens at his touch.

ELSA: Freezing the door has no effect. The ice seems to form on the outside of the door, rather than having the ability to freeze the core, or any wooden fibers. Her kicks only succeed in breaking off chunks of ice.

FIORE: As the stallion knocks, the jawbone (now laying in the sands) and in the same disembodied voice, makes a fake knocking sound in response. It sounds amused. As he pushes against the door, more ice falls.

DROM: At the sound of her singing, some unseen beast (presumably behind the door) begins to roar loudly. "SHUTUPSHUTUPS SHUT UP" The jawbone-voice yells.

BRISA: The objects she brings to the door are useless. However, as she tries the handle, she finds it turns quite easily. "FINALLY!" The jawbone roars. "Someone with some sense. Just because it has a keyhole, doesn't mean that it's locked." It concluded, scolding the group.

REI: Actions have no effect. She finds no other keys.

AMARIS: The laughter of the jawbone increased, but instead of the door being reflected in the mirror, only the rotting teeth of the jawbone became visible.

    DESTRIER: Actions have no effect.

SILK: As Silk pushes the key into the already open door, it opens a crack further.

AMANI: Again, laughter from the jawbone. "Child, does the door appear attached to anything? Do those hinges hold it to this beach? No? THEN WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO MELT THEM."

While the Jawbone was speaking, the door had opened itself slightly wider.

    Then a little wider.

    Then a little more.

    What emerged was rather....odd.

It looked roughly like a large reptile, covered in patches of thick, coarse, black, hair. It squeezed through the door, knocking those immediately in front of it out of its way. As it pushed through, it seemed to grow in size; the body which left the door, surely could never fit back into it. Its head was easily 30 hands high - roughly the height of two horses standing on top of one another. Its back was about 5 horses high, and the length of its body about 20, with a 10-horse length tail.

It moved with uncanny speed forward, having heavily webbed appendages that allowed it to plow through the sands with ease. A long and barbed forked tongue slid from beneath its scaled reptilian lips. The few scales that could be seen beneath its patchy fur, glistened brightly in the sun, as it moved away from the group, having pulled itself out of the door completely. The long tail of the creature snapped back and forth trying to deter the group from following it.

If they looked carefully as the thing moved, each step shifting its body from side to side, they might notice a pouch on its belly. They might also notice that the pouch did not appear to be empty.

In fact, it appeared to have an egg.

"Well, what are you waiting for? KILL IT."

As a reminder, your posts must stay under 600 word, and must include a summary. The creature has a predetermined amount of HP, and the outcomes of certain attacks (physical vs. magical vs. companion vs. any thing else you might think of) are also predetermined.

You have 48 hours to respond.

It was as I expected; from the door burst forth a creature unlike any my eyes had seen before, its shape reminiscent of that of a reptile, yet covered in a coarse hide as dark as my own. It towered above us all, barging from the door and charging through the group with ease. Thankful that I hadn't been in the immediate vicinity of it, I made sure to hurry to the side and out of its way, barely missing the long tail which defensively snapped back and forth.

"Well, what are you waiting for? KILL IT."

The voice rang in my ears as I turned back around to face and watch the beast moved away from myself and the rest, dark brows furrowing as I studied the creature for the briefest of moments. It would be foolish to attack the thing directly, perhaps even a death wish, but would it be wise to allow it further into the wilds of Helovia? Would it attack friends, family, young ones and old ones? Kill them?

A cry could be heard from above as Suli made to follow the creature at once, seeming to catch on to my thoughts. Swooping low, the emerald opened her mouth and blew forth a white-hot jet of flame towards the beast's hairy back, intending to light the hair aflame from the middle of its back to the top of its head, but anywhere would do. "Des fight!" She shouted through the bond, her words sounding all too desperate in my head, "Danger! Des kill it!"

That was all the urging I needed to dive into action.

Pushing myself into a pace that matched the beast, if I was able, I kept a good distance from it so as to avoid the snapping tail and, potentially, any snapping teeth or swiping claws. A warmth grew within my veins as I summoned the magic gifted to me, focusing the whole of its burning affects upon the creature. I would much rather chase it back where it had come from than kill it, but the warrior in me would stop at nothing to protect my family and the place we called home.

[ooc - Suli flies overhead and blows fire at it, aiming to light its hair on fire from the back to the top of the head. Des uses his magic to try and burn/choke the lizard out while keeping what he thinks is a safe distance from it.]

I'm pleased as punch as punch that the key seems to work, and no one else seems to have noticed me trying to make it work. Of course, there's evidence that there was no need to use the key in the first place. A grey mare that I don't recognize in the least seems to have figured it out, and just pushed open the door. I with the key have only opened the door wider. The jaw bone's sarcastic remarks at the group of us - and some individuals in particular - is both amusing and annoying. I want to chuckle, but I'm too focused on the key and the opening door. It opens wider and wider, and I step back so that there's room for more of us, but keep my head forward, wanting to peer inside toward the opening.

Turns out it's not the best idea. The ice and fire that others have thrown at the door would have been better saved for what comes OUT from the mysterious 'other side' of the door. I'm not sure I even have words for the beast that knocks me from the door and scrambling for my balance. Luckily I have wings, and they keep me from making a fool of myself and falling into the sand. Of course I've probably smacked a few faces of those nearby. The beast. Giant, reptilian.. with fur.. and monstrous. Panic floods me - what the hell am I gonna do with this shit?

"Well, what are you waiting for? KILL IT!"

The jawbone screeches to us all, and I immediately launch into the air. No, I'm not running from the fight. But I'm sure as hell not staying on the ground. My wings wide and pumping against the air, I move out of reach of the beast. Upon circling it, I notice that it seems to have some sort of pouch like a marsupial, and an egg resides inside. What could it be, hiding away inside? I hope the others will be quick to attack, as the one dark stallion has. His green dragon companion flies overhead, like I do. KILL IT! I dart down and claw at the beast with my hooves, then pull up again, and repeat. Sometimes I attack with my hooves, sometimes with the claws on my wings. I don't ever stay down for long, not trusting the beast to stay on the ground where I expect him to be.

Summary: Silk gets knocked to the side, then takes to the air and attacks from their with hooves and the claws on his wings. He thinks he is safe from the beast.

The beauty is busily jamming the bone inside the lock when the invasive mongrel approaches. His unmindful gesture causes the bird to lose her hold on the jawbone, but it seems that she did not manage to lose the cursed object fast enough. At first the burn feels cold -- her mind has not registered this new pain yet -- and she is barely able to scream a retort about manners to the unicorn when it hits her, and her tongue starts to swell. The bone hadn't been in her mouth long enough to do any permanent damage to her musical instrument, although the devil bone's words have hit their mark. Oh, you want to see clever, do you?

The enraged vixen lifts her body in a flurry of feathers and hair, preparing to bring a sombre hoof down on the being that dared to besmirch her character. Just before her dull weapon is about to make contact, the creak of bending wood interrupts her, and a massive reptilian beast spills forth from the door. Still in the midst of dealing her revenge, the colorful bird has no time to move before the lizard bowls her over. Its hairy pillars threaten to bury her, and the peahen shields her face with her wings, peering through the gaps in her feathers as the beast passes her. One eye glimpses something protruding from its belly and, as if by instinct, she knows what she must do. Under any circumstance, she must claim that egg.

Before the monster has a chance to pass over her completely, the bird takes a chance and rises from her wallow. There is a shriek and suddenly the air is much, much hotter around her, and the peahen's eyes start to roll in reaction to all of the chaos. She doesn't care about what has happened to the idiotic unicorn, or to any of the others who had urged her to twist the bone. All that she cares about now is getting out from underneath this rampaging beast, and making certain that it never runs again. The warrior sorts through a list of possible maneuvers that she can take, flicking from one idea to the next like a bee flitting from one flower to another. A nearby command tears the panicking woman from her thoughts, ultimately settling them for her. "Well, what are you waiting for? KILL IT!"

Diving for the obnoxious bone, the chieftess refrains from coming up with a sarcastic response and instead concentrates on grasping the weapon once more. Agonizing pain envelopes her mouth as soon as she has it in her teeth, but she bites down harder on the cause of it as if that will force it to stop. Wasting no time in dispelling the pain, the bird surges forwards to gain enough speed for take off, launching herself in the air with a powerful stroke of her wings. As soon as she thinks she is near enough to the raging lizard to make contact, the peahen throws her head back and attempts to thrust her burning weapon in its belly.

As the bird rotates her feathered appendages and attempts to lunge past hairy legs, a parting remark fills her cranium. How’s that for clever, tlacatecolotl?

    {tlacatecolotl -- "possessed one."

Bellona is knocked over by the lizard, who is running over top of her, and despite her burns she grasps the bone again and flies to the beast's belly, where she tries to drive the scorching weapon in. She attempts to escape through its legs after trying to skewer it with the jawbone.

Struggling a moment or two with the shape of the doorknob between her teeth the grey fae finally manages to accomplish what she had intended to try. Feeling a satisfying click as the latch pops open and the door opens a little ways she pulls her head back to see the results. The rainbow pegasus who fiddled with the jawbone had suddenly dropped the object as it began to speak aloud. How could that thing talk!! Seriously??!! A little freaked out she takes a couple large steps backwards away from the possessed jawbone only for her eyes to snap to the second rather alarming screwed up thing of the day. The creature that emerged from the doorway was absolutely disgusting with its clumped black hair and insect like appearance. In a way it reminded her of the caterpillars that crawled around in the grass in the springtime but that was where the similarities ended.

Despite having already moved backwards from the door the creature still managed to run into her making her stumble back another couple of steps. A disgusted snort fell from her lips in the horror of that thing touching her as coloured feathers of all shades got thrown around wildly as the pegasi tried to maintain their balance after being pummeled. What in the hell is this thing? Certainly not what she had expected to be on the other side of a door! A strange but familiar warming sensation passed over her as the creature grew exponentially and moved by her making her head snap around to stare at it. Despite the sheer ugliness of the thing her blue orbs got a faint glimpse of a pouch tucked under its belly with an apparent bulge. That had to be an egg! Why else would she feel the warmth and the involuntary attraction to such a hideous thing, it sure as hell wasn't its looks. She needed that egg, she needed to rescue it and before they KILLED IT!!! "DON'T ATTACK ITS BELLY! THERE IS AN EGG!" Her voice screams aloud hoping to deter the others from aiming attacks there and accidently hurting the egg inside the pouch.

Sensing the urgency of the situation as others began reacting she forcefully swallowed the fear threatening to freeze her limbs and reacted. Lunging forward towards the beast as its tail swept away in the opposite direction she reached out for her ember and held on tight. Flames ignited over her entire body warming her heart and filling it with hope she could manage to do the impossible. The creature had enough hair surely lighting it a blaze would injure it right? Without the use of wings or a horn what else did she have that might work...absolutely nothing so fire would have to do. She needed to protect the egg! Swerving around one of its legs to avoid being trampled she attempted to get a better look at the pouch moving in only as close as she dared. From this distance it would be useless to try and light the thing of fire but if she could throw it at the beast... Hearing the crackling and snapping of flame increase tenfold she focused her mind on throwing the fire where she wanted it to go and let it loose hoping it would hit its target.

SUMMARY: Brisa is knocked aside by the creature, catches sight of the pouch. Tries to use her fire magic to alight the creatures hair a blaze along its chest to avoid the pouch.

Brisa would like a common dragon [firebreath]

More arrived, and the girl was distracted for brief snatches of time as she recognised the dark form of Destrier, the former Captain of her former home. Tones of memories drifted through her mind, as she sorely remembered her mother's song, soothingly waking her up one dawn, with the dark figures of her mother and Destrier speaking above her and her sister's sleeping forms. The young girl remembers donating a scale, which had seen grown back, to the steed, for him to make armour with, so that he could protect his home.

    Did he succeed?

Did any of them succeed where she failed? Did any of them survive the massacre that was the death, the darkness, that swallowed the lands? Clearly, they survived, but did thy remember her? Golden eyes linger for but a moment, before they are pulled to other things, glancing between the reflective surface she had made and the door, seeing that only the strange grinning jaws were reflected back in them.

It had already begun to swing open, and, like all the others, Amaris tilted her gaze to view what was within. Her heart surged in her chest, hope brimming as she wished to see nothing more than her mother standing beyond the door.

It certainly wasn't her mother who emerged.

The beast, the monster, would have knocked her out of the way had she not swiftly skittered sideways and backwards, hearing amongst the commotion the command to kill it sweep across the crowd. A frown creased her brow, for the girl was not given to violence without due cause, and this thing, while rough, seemed only to want to escape their clutches.

Others are attacking; so too must we, the blue light that was her spirit friend spoke to her, and with some effort, the girl called upon another, a familiar green friend, to join them in what was apparently a battle. The dragons flew alongside the green Suli, singing their battle cries mingled with greeting, splitting up from her and weaving through others who were also flying, to shower the beast in their searing, draconic flames as well. They flew on opposite sides of the beast, spewing forth their fire in such a way that the creature would surely be unlikely to dodge.

Amaris then employed her own physical prowess, swinging her scythed tail about and dancing between the other bodies. The golden child attempted to position herself beneath the creature's belly, swinging her sharpened tail upwards to see if she might be able to slice it open, to see its innards roll outwards upon the sands.

Sadly, the girl wondered when she had become such a ruthless killer.

Amaris summons another spirit companion to work alongside Destrier's Suli in setting the thing on fire. Being as light on her feet as possible, she also darts forth and strikes at its belly with her scythed tail.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black

He still had no clue what was going on. Horse after horse came flooding onto the beach, someone spoke in mocking tone to some of them as they did things to what he presumed was the wooden surface he had touched. All of it was incredibly confusing, and Morir felt his temper rising steadily with each jeering word from the unseen speaker.

As the door he couldn't see creaked open he withdrew from the mare he had been hovering next to, intending to leave the place altogether; crowds just weren't his thing and this situation was getting ridiculous. But even as he turned to leave, the masked stallion felt the ground beneath his feet tremor and quake, heard the sand shift and stir beneath the feet of something that had to be gargantuan in size - and a waft blew towards him, of something that clearly wasn't a horse.

He was instantly intrigued, daunted, intimidated... afraid. Morir didn't like the latter at all, he preferred to think of himself as calm, cool and unimpressed. Anger at himself now joined the mix of emotions, such that when that unfamiliar, bodiless voice ordered the creature killed, the stag was only too happy to oblige. Without analyzing the situation much he gave a sharp snort and threw himself on into a run, giving the creature a wide berth as he tried to get ahead of it from its left side. Listening with only half an ear to the attempts of others and the cries they gave off, the black unicorn eventually rounded on the beast and lowered his horns, not even bothering to try and aim before he sped forth to attack the right front leg of the beast, hoping to slow it down by opening up a long, bleeding gash on the outer side of the limb.
