If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

Returning to the ocean had not been a thought that had come to her often over the last couple months. So much pleasure used to come from this place at one point in her life what had ever happened to tarnish such memories? Life was what had happened to change things from a form of comfort into an object of fear, loss and resentment. The salty air and the silent lull of the waves lapping over the beach had brought her moments of happiness when everything else in her world was dark. Fear had come from everything else but never from this yet the last two years had changed her in more way than one. Her journey had brought her to stand upon the point where earth turned to water and dirt to sand. Standing with her front hooves inches from the ledge she watched the water slap noisily against the stone barricade that blocked its way a number of feet below her.

Bowing her head to the wind that blew all around she closed her eyes and made herself listen. Listen to all that she had lost, for what she had gained and for the things she had yet to realize. Nothing was the same and her heart bore those scars visibly as the cracks widened with each additional blow. Her parents, her family, her friends, her children... all were lost to her if not by death by distance. Where was she to turn when everything now brought pain? The first year that she had come to this new land she had thought it would be her second chance to try again and start over. She had been forced to face everything that had happened in the past to try and come to terms with it. The tears, the pain, the beatings, the horrors each came with their own demons. Still to this day she carried many of them with her unable to rid herself of the memories that haunted her dreams. Last night had been the first time in almost a year that the nightmares had returned. She had woken in a cold sweat with tears streaming from her eyes and her breath coming in short gasps. Running had been her escape back then to try and save herself from being forced into unspeakable acts by her attackers. Her body clung to the old habit sending her forward into a blind panic. The next thing she had come to realize was that she stood here overlooking the grey waters with stormclouds overhead.

It was time for her to face this fear that watching her friend perish had ingrained in her head. She needed to take back something that helped her to cope with everything else and the only way to do that scared the living crap outta her... Jump.

The moment that her hooves left the earth she regretted the decision as fear gripped her tightly as she fell towards the water. The only thought she could hope for is that there would be no rocks to break her fall. She did not want to die like her friend had she wanted only to break free of the paralyzing fear. Keeping her eyes shut tight her body plunged into the icy water shocking her system into a stunned immobility as her brain struggled to process things. She could feel herself sinking deeper into the depths before she finally managed to react and force her limbs to strike at the water propelling herself towards the surface. The moment her head broke the surface she struggled to take in a breath between chattering teeth so her burning lungs could live again.

Wind licked across the shores of the ocean, whipping up sand and threading itself through Bucephalus's gnarled mane. But he minded not, his gaze flickering over the sea with a certain fondness. Many events in his life occurred near her salty grasp. On the sea's beach he had loved, lost, killed, fought, bled... The ocean shores were as much his home as the desert dunes. The water lapped at his hooves, sucking at the sand beneath them as if inviting him to dance and play among the waves as he used to, once upon a time. But that time was past, and he was far older than he had been. Or...he felt older. Older than he physically was. It was a side effect of war, loss, grief and exile. That tended to make one grow up rather swiftly, too swiftly.

But he could not deny his second lover's request, nor his first as the wind slid her velvety embrace under his wings and across his body. With a laugh he lept forward, galloping across the shallows as fast as he could, water flying from his hooves. The water was harder to run through, but the sound of his hoofbeats and the rush of wind and water in his ears was worth it. He slowed to a walk, not wishing to exert himself too much. It was an incredibly long flight back home, even with good currents. So he settled for the short sprint, tossing his head in an attempt to untangle his mane, but as per usual it remained knotted and thick against his neck. Should he take the time to detangle it, the locks would most likely brush his chest, rather than the bottom of his throat.

His gaze roamed across the beach, and as he walked he examined the shells he could see, nudging those that caught his interest. A few he put in his chest pouches; one sunrise-hued conch and a couple spiral shells. The rest he left to the sea. His gaze lifted from the beach to the sheer cliffs that lined the beach, isolating it from the rest of the world. A figure of white caught his attention, and a faint smile pulled at his lips. Seems he was not the only one enjoying the view. His gaze went out to sea in admiration, but when he looked back it was to see the figure leap from the cliff to it's demise.

Alarm slammed into the black like a boulder, and he tore off down the beach, wings snapping open and churning at the air to lift him up, and the second he was airborne he shot towards the cliff full speed. Wings a blurr as he flew over, gaze scanning the dark waters below. There! White interrupted the blue, and he dropped lower, eyes widening. The horse was alive... and it was Brisa. He swooped down towards the waves, before tucking wing and diving into the water.

Water filled his nose, and when his head broke the surface he snorted the fluid out in a spray, nostrils flared. Instinct kicked in, his legs churning as he kept himself afloat, then moving towards Brisa. Wings were of no help here, and he held them as tight to his spine as he could to reduce drag as he swam. When he got close enough, his teeth found her pale mane and he pulled to help keep her head above water as he swam towards shore, muscles screaming in protest. He didn't let go of her mane until they were on shore, then he released her hair only to whirl and face her, ears pinned straight back. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" He demanded, the frigid air stinging his wet hide. With the thin winter coat his dominant breeding gave him, being soaked and out in the cold are was a bad combination, and he didn't think the snowy mare before him would fare any better. "You could have gotten yourself killed!" Why he cared... hell he didn't know. Watching a horse leap to their (almost)certain doom tended to make one care.

If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

The cold of the frigid waters quickly dispelled any warmth that her body had created leaving her feeling rather numb all over. The emotional pain was shut off from her body by the sheer chill albeit only for awhile but it was a welcome relief. Concentrating her efforts onto pulling oxygen into her lungs so that she may live to see another day she remained floating haphazardly in the icy depths for what seemed like hours on end. As her lungs slowly began responding and spreading life to her internal organs she gazed around realizing what it was that she had just done. The waves of the ocean frothed around her showering her with their droplets incessantly as the thick salty odor clung to her nostrils forcing her to inhale its scent with each breath. With each passing moment nothing else existed except for the sounds and the scents of the sea making her realize she had been needlessly avoiding its embrace for too long. Antheia's death had been tragic and traumatizing but it had not been the ocean that had taken her from this world, well not entirely. That decision had been made by her friend long before she had arrived upon the scene with Kahlua. There was no way that she could have stopped her despite her wishing that it had been possible.

Coughing harshly to clear the water from her airways as another wave broke on top of her she shook her head clearing the mixture of tears and salt water from her glassy orbs. Eyeing the beach in the distance from between the swells the pale coated maiden angled herself in its direction and began trying to swim with her waterlogged frozen extremities. The dark shape that appeared suddenly beside her nearly scared her half to death causing her heart to skip a beat. Shark! Crap I was wrong! The ocean is going to kill me now! Panic consuming her once again she tried to veer away from it but only really succeeded in bobbing in the water like a buoy. Perfect just perfect.. she always wanted to become sushi.

Trying to twist her head around to face the dark blob next to her alerted her to the reality that she was an idiot. Bucephalus?!? What? How? Sure enough there swam Bucephalus dragging her beside him as he headed toward the beach. When had he gotten here and when had he grabbed a hold of her mane? The numbness really must be worse than she thought if she couldn't feel someone dragging her corpse. Leaving the hows and whys out of the equation until later when her body could stop shaking and comprehend what was happening she tried to do her best to move her limbs to make the swim a little easier.

Tripping forward as her hooves hit onto solid ground she pulled herself upright propping her legs underneath her once more in the hopes of standing. Coughing painfully against the cold her breath came in frozen bursts as she raised her head to glare into the face of her rescuer. Angered words hit her causing her own temper to flare up in defense. " What's wrong with me?? What do you mean? You were out there too and I never asked anyone to come rescue me?!? I didn't kill myself and wasn't planning to." She snapped back through chattering teeth her own ears pinning flat against her skull. The wind hit her flesh making it feel like knives piercing against her skin as her body shivered violently in protest.

Oh gods the cold. He hardly heard Brisa over the chattering of his teeth, but when her words registered anger flashed in his eyes and his ears went straight flat against his head. "It sure as fuck looked like you wanted to die. Hell it is very possible for us to die right now." He said, gold eyes blazing. Of all the ungrateful.... she had been floundering! Now they were both in danger of freezing to death in the cold of Frostfall. Oh how he wished for fire magic.

His gaze locked back on her. "Tell me then, Brisa. If you weren't suicidal what the hell were you doing jumping off a cliff into the sea in WINTER?!" His voice raised to a yell by the last word, and quickly he bit off his sentence, standing there tense for a heartbeat before he shook himself and looked at his wings. They were numb, he felt nothing when he lifted and fanned them in the air. Flight was out. He'd wind up freezing his feathers and falling to his death. All for a bloody ungrateful mare.

Shooting her an ill-tempered look, he turned and glanced up the shore. Not a cave or grove in sight.... or.. was there? "Look, im sorry. But what you did was downright fucking stupid. Now we're both soaked to the bone, chilled and it's just getting worse." He looked towards her. Oh, he was still pissed. If he died because of this mare... he was so haunting her ass. A small cluster of trees caught his attention, and he began walking towards it. As he walked, he realized just how cold he was. Each step was shaky, shudders rolling through his body, mane plastered to his neck and chest, and his tail sticking in rather uncomfortable places. This was why he didn't swim often. Things got itchy and irritating and uncomfortable.

Feeling the numbness slip over her thin frame it was near impossible to stop her body from shivering in its futile attempts to warm itself once more. All she had been thinking about when she had jumped was stopping the pain instead of the consequences that were inevitable to occur. Hypothermia was a decent possibility as was the chances of developing frostbite not that she really cared by this point in time. Her words had said that she was not ready to die yet was that truly what her mind had been thinking? Oh god, she didn't know the answer. What if she didn't care? What then?

As the torrent of words hit into her she recoiled backwards a step with her ears still pinned, though she wasn't sure if it was on purpose or if they had just frozen there. Everything was so confusing and made no sense. The nightmares... the latest events in her life... what did it all mean? She had not wanted to have anyone else involved in her screw ups yet here she was watching her friend pay for her stupidity. As if she didn't have enough problems as it was. "No one was supposed to be here! Why did you come, why couldn't you have just stayed away.." She had intended the words to be harsh but they seemed to turn into anything but after the first sentence. Still fuming from being yelled at she turned away not wanting to deal with any of this or face her own emotions. Managing to stumble a couple pained steps she stopped as another harsh cough ate away at her lungs. Dammit, stupid water you were not supposed to go down there!

Yes she had jumped but everything had made sense beforehand. It was to gain back control of one thing in her life yet somehow she had managed to just screw it all up yet again. Perhaps she was at peace with the ocean again but the shambles had not managed to reconnect themselves because of it. Honestly she had no clue what she was thinking anymore. "What the hell were you doing jumping off a cliff into the sea in WINTER?!" Shaking her head no words found her for telling the truth would be like explaining the meaning of life, downright impossible. Glancing back to the departing stallion that had rescued her from likely drowning she found herself angry but more at herself. If every inch of her body had not been frozen there would have likely been tears streaming down from her eyes for the second time tonight. Pushing her body forward once more she ambled down the beach with her head hanging low.

Shivering violently she tried to make her freezing muscles respond but there were times when she could not tell what part of her actually moved and what didn't. She was half tempted to turn around and go find Bucephalus but her wounded pride made her continue along stubbornly. Squinting against the wind she scanned the looming rock wall ahead looking for what she knew was here somewhere. Her first couple of nights here in Helovia she had found the small cave tucked in against the rocks if only she could find it again. Maybe she could get herself warmer if she could just get out of the wind. In her pained confusion it had totally slipped her mind that she had been gifted with fire magic for she had not used it since the day her twins had come into this world. She was afraid that it could hurt them accidently and being as she was she had not been willing to take the chance.

Feeling her legs stumble as she came upon a rather uneven patch of sand she barely kept herself on her feet. Please...where is it.. things were starting to get dark and the night would surely bring death if she couldn't get somewhere sheltered. Turning her head she looked up to finally see the entrance she had been looking for. Pulling her strength or what remained of it she took a step forward but stopped as her conscious bit at her frozen flesh. Bucephalus.. she couldn't leave him out here somehow she would have to find him. This was her fault and a death on her hooves was way too much to bear. Gathering what she could muster of her energy she cried out into the night praying that he would hear her. Lifting her foot stiffly she placed it down before dragging the other one forward to match it. She had to go back.. she couldn't let him die out there because of her.

The cold sank it's claws into his hide, digging through his flesh and into his bones. It felt as if he was being turned to ice from the inside-out. Numbness was all he felt from his wings, and he couldn't stop the surge of terror that shot through him. They couldn't get frostbite. He could NOT loose his wings! Clumsily he tried to take off into the air, wings chopping the air unevenly. Like a colt just learning to spread his wings Bucephalus crashed to the ground, and panic surged through him, sinking into his mind. Cold and numb and his wings he couldn't feel his wings

He couldn't feel his wings.

Bucephalus stumbled, eyes wide. Brisa was all but forgotten in his mind as he made his way into the grove and out of the wind as fast as he could move. But by the time he reached the trees it mattered little if they blocked the wind or not. Cold. So cold. Fuzzily, he knew he needed to find a way to get warm. So he folded his legs and sank to the ground, curling up and trying to keep his wings from the worst of the cold. Dimly he realized he had stopped shivering, and thought it was good. He laid his head down on the ground, legs tucked under his body. Then his mind went towards Brisa. She would be cold too. Didn't she follow him?

With a low groan he forced himself to his feet. At least... he thought he was standing. His legs burned, and that confused his fuddled thinking. He was cold not hot. Why did his legs feel like that? No matter. He stepped from the grove, flinching at the shock of the wind against his body. A white shape began to grow, coming closer, and he moved towards it, wings dragging behind him. He paused, then glanced and looked at his wings, lifting them back onto his back before returning to walk towards Brisa. "You're going to freeze to death out here." He said, frowning at her.

Was freezing to death really all that bad if one had to chose a way to go? The sheer numbness would take away the pain and make you slip quietly away into the afterlife. Certainly it was better than burning alive, drowning, or any of the other ways that seemed to bring an untimely ending to many. Battle had been another way that many before her had chosen as a way out but that option was not appealing to her in the slightest. Too much of her life had been spent being beaten and battered by those beasts that had taken so much from her including what should have been hers to give when she was ready. No instead of that ideal world she had once dreamed about she had been tossed into a horror flick where there was to be nothing but neverending pain and suffering. Her parents had wanted to give her a good life but they had been stripped from her at such a young age did that mean that her chance had passed by? Maybe leaving this cruel place was her only option to finally get some peace and quiet where each day there was not more bloodshed and tears. No one would mourn her death, her sons had all but moved on without her and she had no one else to care. But what if they haven't moved on.. said the voice from some deep forgotten crevice of her brain. Mother? Startled by the familiar voice she stumbled back a step or two her eyes wide and fearful. When no one responded the pale girl felt the loneliness creep back upon her striking the most vulnerable areas of her heart.

By the time she had managed to pull herself back together and refocus her eyes another dark shape loomed in front of her. Feeling painful spasms attack her muscles where there had once been numbness she groaned softly through the incessant shivering. Her thin body provided no insulation against the cold and she was beginning to feel it taking its toll. No she couldn't give up now she had to make it back. As the shadow loomed closer a faint flicker of relief blossomed as Bucephalus neared. " C..c..ome... shel..ter.." She stammered through chattering teeth managing to turn herself around and motion back along the rocky beach. She hadn't the faintest idea if anything she had said made sense but they needed to move. Reaching out in an attempt to grab a lock of the stallion's mane she pushed herself forward determined to get back to the little cavern and drag Buce along with her if she had to.

The short journey took much longer than she had remembered but dragging her frozen hide along with difficulty she finally breached the barrier leaving the wind outside. Looking around the small space there wasn't a whole lot of room inside but enough for the two of them to stay for awhile. Without the wind adding to the freezing temperatures it would be warmer or at least she hoped it would be. "Its not much but it might help a little."

Like a specter from the mist, Brisa ghosted towards Bucephalus. Or, so it seemed to him. To an observer the half-frozen mare would seem a clumsy oaf. But to the equally frozen black, she glided. Of course, his brain was also fuzzy. Barely he feels her teeth in his mane, guiding him as he did her not that long ago. But when he saw what she was leading him towards, he jerked his head up, ignoring the flash of pain that managed to escape the numbness. "Not caves." He managed in a hoarse whisper; it was not the cold that sent shudders down his spine.

He staggered backwards, unaware that his head was shaking back and forth. Caves. Why did EVERYTHING in this land have to eventually involve fucking CAVES?! It was going to drive him mad one of these days. He already dreaded his duties in the mines because of the confined spaces(but the crafting was...moderately worth it.), and now his survival hinged on a cave.

Bloody great.

His ears rocked back, but he steeled himself and pulled forward, away from Brisa's side. The cold air hit his already freezing hide, and he shuddered, quickly moving into the cave. When he entered, he realized it was less of a cave and more of a niche, which made moving around to make room for Brisa and his wings a hassle. But he managed, neck bent somewhat uncomfortably, and a rock was digging into a place no rock had ANY buisness being, but there was room for the pale mare, and he held up a wing. "C-Come on then. 'Fore we both freeze to death." He said. And he had never been colder.

If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

Each step taken was beginning to feel like glass burrowing itself deep into her skin and twisting around. If it had not been for her sheer determination to get the pegasus somewhere warmer she would have likely just collapsed down into the sand and let the cold suck the life from her. It was so freaking cold! As klutzy as she could be she was actually surprised that she had not managed to break her leg by now tripping over something in her frozen stupor. Well at least she hoped she hadn't it wasn't exactly as if she could feel any of her extremities anymore. She almost felt like she was walking on peg legs for her joints felt solid and unbendable. The thought was actually comical to her freezer burnt brain and she found her lips trying to turn up in a smirk. Trying was about as far as they got for she was to damn cold to find amusement in this.

Feeling the frozen locks slip from beneath her teeth she twisted her head back to see what the hell was going on. Beside her Bucephalus seemed to be pulling back away from where she was attempting to place him as if something was wrong. I don't think so. He was going in the damn cave thing whether he wanted to or not! If she had to haul him in herself it would be happening one way of another. Pausing a step she cast him back a glare almost daring him to stay out here any longer. If he wasn't going to move perhaps her teeth on his rump would send him inside. With the thought something strange flared up inside her for a second or two before simmering back down leaving a tiny bit of warmth behind.

Stopping as if she had been slapped in the face she stared blankly ahead in complete disbelief. Stupid, stupid gah why hadn't she clued into this before?!? The cave might be able to help them warm up a little but fire would surely do the trick a lot faster. Bucephalus in the meantime had obviously wisened up and receded into the darkness before her tucking himself away from the bite of the wind. It would be a challenge to try and find her magic after so long but it was worth the try so they didn't freeze to death. Ambling forward a couple steps so that she was just outside the nook she stopped as doubt and fear surfaced. How could she use magic when she had no idea what it could do. She had never been close to anyone when she had used it in the past, what it she wound up hurting Bucephalus instead of helping him? Hadn't that been the entire reason she had stopped using it in the first place when her twins came into the world? What other choice did she have other than making them both freeze to death?

Taking a unsteady breath she stepped into the shadows to join Bucephalus only to see him beckoning for her to come closer. " I.. I can't" she managed to whisper shaking her head. Pushing herself as far away as possible she huddled up against the cold stone fearful as to what would happen next. "Stay away from me." she warned feeling horrible for telling him something like this.

Reaching deep down through all the ice and snow that had gathered she fought to find the ember buried somewhere deep within her. She had felt its warmth touch her a minute ago surely she could find it again, she had to. A couple minutes passed as she struggled internally wading through everything before she managed to see it glowing just out of reach. It was this damn cold that was making it harder for every inch she gained another would try and drag her back. Squeezing her eyes shut in concentration she gathered her strength and lunged her mind towards it. It was like a forest igniting inside her as she felt the magic ripple through her to fight against the water and ice plastering her coat to her skin. Opening her eyes a smile lit her expression to see the familiar blue and white flames licking across her skin beginning to warm her from the inside out. Hesitantly she gazed over to where Buce stood a questioning look to her face.

"I..I don't know what its capable of.. I don't want to hurt you again..." She said softly. "I'm sorry I got you into this mess... I..I don't know what I was thinking.." She could remember each and every horrifying detail that had led her to make the jump but she was too scared and too ashamed to admit it to her relatively new friend, if he was even her friend anymore after this.. Her face was likely to give away how she felt but she didn't know what else to say.

She does not join him. For a moment he is baffled, his cold-addled brain reeling to try to understand why the mare would rather freeze than brace against the cold with him. Did he smell? "I won't hurt you Brisa." He managed, focusing his gaze on the pale mare in confusion. Did she think him dangerous? He left the crevice, flinching at the sudden cold as he approached the mare regardless of her words.

Then she lit on fire.

He startled, head jerking up, the idiocy cold brought on vanished for a moment. Magic. And oh, did it feel like magic. Even from where he stood he could feel the faintest tendrils of warmth, and he stepped closer. Unlike Gaucho's fire that blazed with a primal light, her's was more...merry. And blue. Why blue? Her expression, a mixture of fear and shame, caught his attention. Careful of the fire, he leaned his head forward and pressed his muzzle to her forehead. "I don't know either." He said with a wry smirk, his humor flickering forth for a second before chased away once again by the chill. He closed his eyes, not really caring that his muzzle was still to her head as he basked in the heat of her fire. His wings curled around them, both blocking the wind from the pair and collecting the heat. His back felt the full brunt of the chill, but he could care less.

Slowly he pulled back his head, neck arched to look down at her, and he couldn't help another wry grin. "You didn't tell me you were a torch. If i'd known i'd not have jumped into the sea." He said, taking a step back in case he was too close for propriety. But at the first chill to hit his chest he was quick to return near her. "I apologize for being so near." He said, gold gaze flickering to her blue. Unknownst to him, the tip of one wing drifted closer to the fiery warmth, close enough that the fire licked at the feathers....but they did not burn.

If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

Watching the horror and confusion cross over the stallion's face was heartbreaking especially to know she had caused it. Turning her head away in shame she tried to console her bleeding heart anyway she possibly could. Think of your son and all the memories you have shared together.. Instructing her mind on things that could lessen the pain she tried to picture those moments. "I won't hurt you Brisa." She wanted to yell at him for uttering such words and looking as he did but she couldn't for he didn't know. The only saving grace was her name, he had used her name. This was not like old times.. she was actually safe. Each bastard that had touched her had told her something along those lines before they proceeded to do what they wanted. Their words meant nothing for their actions never followed suit to what they had said. None had ever known her name or bothered to care with that little detail. No this time was different Bucephalus was not like them he had saved her.

Talking herself down through her panic she took a couple moments to just enjoy the feeling of warmth against her cold skin without daring to move she finally gathered her courage to face whatever would come next. The shocked expression was no surprise but what happened next sure the hell was. Instead of shying away from her like logic would suggest someone of sane mind to do he moved closer to her. Flicking her ears back with uncertainty she tried to retreat farther only to hit the solid stone next to her. "Don't!.." She managed to squeak seeing his muzzle reach out towards her only to trail off as she felt his cold skin press against hers. Squeezing her eyes shut she waited for the screams of pain to begin as her fire burnt into the stallion's skin.

A moments silence pursued followed by another. What? Slowly opening her eyes terrified at what she was going to see she was lulled into a stunned silence as the scene before her was anything but. There stood Bucephalus with his muzzle pressed up gently against her forehead looking as cool as a cucumber! No burning flesh, no horrible screaming..absolutely nothing. How was this even possible? Any other times she had used her magic things had literally gone up in smoke how was it this was happening? "What the hell do you think you're doing! I could have burned you! I...I.." Trailing off she really hadn't the faintest idea on how to finish that sentence. Gaping in stunned silence she scrambled to come up with something.

Feeling his wing along her back she shivered involuntarily as she was drawn in closer. What in the hell was happening? Was she dreaming? Did she actually die? Flicking her ears to catch the words she couldn't help the confused laughter that bubbled up in response. Ok she was really going insane or this was actually happening. How was fire not burning him? Shaking her head softly she felt herself step forward into his touch still in total disbelief. " What was that before about me being the idiot?" She joked softly chuckling as she huddled up closely to get both herself and Buce warm.

Oh, the heat was downright delicious. As she inched closer his wings stretched out, enveloping them both in his dark embrace. Gold eyes opened, having been shut to enjoy the warmth before he gazed down at her. She could have burned him? Thinking back, he slapped himself mentally. What the hell had he been thinking? Well...he hadn't been thinking. He was too cold for that shit. "You were warm and i was cold. Simple, Brisa." He joked, pressing the tip of his muzzle to her crown again, a content rumble in his chest as his once-freezing nose and lips dethawed.

He felt her shiver, and thinking it was cold, he curled his wings more around them both, drawing her in closer. "I never said i wasn't an idiot. After all, i did dive into frigid water to save one that did not need it." He pulled his head back to look down at her, grinning cheekily. "So, you did not know your fire doesn't harm others?" He asked, his gaze going to the blue flames.

Watching them for a moment, mesmerized before he jarred himself back and looked down at her, ears swiveling towards her. Then, he blinked and checked his wings, studiously running his muzzle across the feathers, a mildly worried look on his face. Would be his luck for him to loose enough primaries that he couldn't fly back home. He would not be a happy man. But, thankfully, only a few feathers were too fragile to risk flying on, and with a twinge of pain he plucked the frostbitten ones. It hurt about as much as a sharp nip, and carefully he nosed his feathers around to cover the gap best he could.

If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

Trying to think back to all the times that she had used her magic there was not one time where something nearby hadn't burst into flame. Why hadn't it happened this time when Bucephalus had come too close? Clearly there were many things that she did not know about the gift she had been given much to her annoyance. Why had she been gifted with such a dangerous magic without so much as a clue as to its abilities? Yes she was smart but with something that could so easily hurt those she cared about how could she be expected to control it safely? Illynx had tried to help her understand its powers but that was minutes before she had attempted to electrocute her for some unknown reason. Her flames had sure responded negatively to that as they attempted to burn her attacker to a crisp. Come to think of it she had no idea if they had or not. Was her power nothing more than a pretty magic trick? The entire weight of all the thoughts burdened her greatly making her wish that there was a way to rid herself of all that plagued her. Surely this blue fire was not just a trick, it had burned before but why not now? The memory of the magical door crept back into sight revealing that ugly horrible beast that had emerged from within. It had been trying to escape but all those that had gathered put a stop to it by slaughtering her. No matter how ugly the thing was she still felt bad for helping to take its life. Her fire had acted to her will and burned the creature alive. What was the difference between then and now?

Fear had managed to overcome her fueling the fire before making it burn hotter and much brighter with the monster. She had been terrified of the thing but had still pursued to protect everyone else from the beast. Was it because she had wanted it to burn? Thinking about it there really wasn't a whole lot of difference between then and now. She was petrified of hurting Bucephalus by accident as a result of the fire but she didn't want to burn him. Managing a small smile in response to Buce's comments she stayed still letting herself be warmed along with her friend. Things just didn't make sense and it was frustrating her greatly. " It doesn't make sense."

Staring down at the hard earth she tried to pull together her train of thoughts in the hopes of explaining. " It has never been like this before. It has burned others in the past and set too many things ablaze. I don't understand it." Shaking her head slightly she looked up to where her skin and the stallion's dark hide pressed together. The fire flickered around her body entirely emitting its heat but yet no burns mottled the pegasus where it grazed over him. Was the key perhaps laying in her emotions? She had felt the need to protect herself all the times before when fear had turned her blood to ice, but right now she was not scared of someone hurting her..

" Why did you try to save me? Why not just let me drown?" She finally said after a couple minutes of silence. Surely someone would think of their own safety before trying to help another in peril that was practically a stranger. If it were her in the same situation she would have tried to help regardless of the danger but that was just her personality. She could not stand back and watch someone die, not after she had seen so much death in her short life.

"It doesn't make sense." His ears prick towards her at her words, and he tilted his head when she looked down. Oh? So it could have been actual fire that...you know...burned and all that wonderful stuff? Well, he certainly felt a genius. Oh look a mare's on fire lets go cuddle. Yeah, genius. He couldn't help the faint laugh that escaped him. "Maybe i got lucky? Hindsight, cuddling up to a flaming mare is not the best idea i've had." He mused, then shrugged. "Then again, not the worst. No, that's for my wonderful idea to fly during a hurricane. Broke my wings, nearly my legs. Worst idea ever." He laughed, then fell silent once more.

But once again Brisa spoke, and he listened, then mulled over his thoughts before he spoke. His words were a long time in coming, and when he finally spoke, his voice was quiet. "Because i have seen too much death. To stand idly by when i could prevent a death goes against my nature. Especially for one so full of life." He looked down at her, expression unreadable. His thoughts gave him images of Brisa's body, broken and swollen, washing up on the beach to rot, all the life and smile gone from the shell of a woman he barely knew. It was...puzzling.

"Come, let's get out of the wind. Your fire will make more warmth out of the wind as well." He suggested, his tone subdued and pensive as he drew back his wings and turned towards the cave, glancing back at her to see if she'd follow.

If Love Were Food, I Would Have Starved On The Bones You Gave Me.” .

The cold air continued to bite into her damp flesh through the fire cloak making her feel oddly hot but still cold. It was like her body could not decide whether it wanted to get warm or continue to cling to the icy temperatures all around them instead. The crazed dance between life or death, now it was just a matter of which way it would choose. Listening as Buce’s vocals once again filled the space she could not help but chuckle at his humor. If she had not been gifted with this fire she would have believed straying too close to open flames was just asking for trouble yet somehow this had ceased to cross through the pegasus’s mind. Yes, cuddling up against something that was on fire was the best idea in the world… if you had some suicide wish.

“Flying during a hurricane? Jumping eagerly into fire? You would think that you have some secret death wish or something.” She joked playfully as she rolled her eyes mock horror. Things people could come up with would never cease to amaze her. That being said she was guilty of making stupid decisions for herself such as jumping off cliffs into unknown water or believing that everyone had something good inside them. This she was guilty of on more than one occasion, you would think that she would have known better by now so she wouldn't have to put herself through the pain each and every time.

Waiting was sometimes the hardest part of a conversation when there was never a guaranteed response to what was asked. In a way she wanted to know what in the world had made a creature of air plunge down into the icy depths to rescue one such as herself. What purpose did it serve to risk his own life when there was no guarantee that either of them would ever make it out alive? Flicking her ears to catch the soft words she stood silently letting the response sink in to her brain. No words formed after a couple moments so she could only nod in understanding to his answer. Death was never something nice to witness but it was an inevitable part of life. One could never grow accustomed to it the most that one could hope is to become hardened to its pain so your grief would never have to show outwardly. It would be a good feeling if you could prevent the grim reaper from taking even one soul before their time so she could easily understand where Bucephalus was coming from.

Shifting aside as to allow her friend to move freely she recoiled from the arctic chill as it hit the parts of her that had previously been hidden against the stallion. Shivering as the renewed blast of cold air drew over her the distraction caused her to lose her grip on the ember deep inside her extinguishing the fire it created. Burr it was absolutely freezing out here! How exactly where they supposed to get out of the wind when there is barely any shelter around here? Miserable, cold and lacking a better idea she only hesitated a moment before stepping forward to see where Bucephalus had in mind to shield them from the weather. “ Do you know where you’re going? I don’t remember seeing any shelter around here and we can’t stay exposed for too long unless we want to freeze.”
