It was with a heavy heart and a deep sigh that the lonely roan left the Vein of the Gods without even seeing one of them. It had been her hope to gain a companion... but it seemed that the Gods were going to deny her for now at least. Emerald eyes glanced into the river as she moved along side it, suddenly stopping. So much had happened before she arrived here.... and it had been here that she had rested after running for so long with Mirage watching over her. The ebon mare with her bonded golden dragon had promised to keep her safe. It was not long after that Kiara joined the Qian, Mirage's herd that seemed to of taken up a home in the Deep Forest. It was the Deep Forest that Kiara now called home. Months later the red roan appaloosa was still terrified of males, all except Ahriman and Vikram. The young colt she had greeted after his birth, and the dragon like stallion that seemed to almost always be at Mirage's side.

The roan stared into the water.... Sure the Qian was her family.. But it was times like these she had never felt more alone. The Sun was starting to set as she looked up at the sky, the colors of twilight and the first stars starting to shine brightly. It was the first time she had really stopped and looked to the sky since her run from her homeland. Deep inside she wondered, did her mother make it out? Was she looking at the stars now wondering where her daughter was? Or had the cruel stallions.... well Kiara did not even want to think about it. Green eyes looked back to the ground as she slowly continued the lonely walk home wondering if she would ever know the feeling of having a companion ever..

It had been long since the mother had given her last pup to the unicorn mare and had promised her soul to the equine that had laid beside her and gave her warmth as she lay there dying. Since then she had been watching over the young mare as she had traveled Helovia. She had watched as she traveled to the Veins of the Gods and was denied. It did not sadden the mother, but gave her hope that the denial would strengthen the mare. Weakness, in Helovia, was a death sentence in itself.

A gentle breeze blew and suddenly the ghostly form of the wolf was present in the meadow, standing a several feet away from the sad mare. "You are troubled, child." She speaks softly to the mare. "What troubles you so?"

A gentle breeze ruffled the young fem's mane and tail. She stopped, enjoying the feeling. However she was slightly startled by the ghostly wolf that suddenly was near her. When it spoke, Kiara remembered. The mother wolf who Kiara had given warmth in her dying moments. Her last pup had gone to a unicorn mare, but she had promised her soul would stay with the young red roan. What troubled her? With a soft sigh the young dove spoke. "Worry for my own mother and her safety.... and a lonely heart." Emerald eyes looked away from the she wolf's ghost back to the skies. The moon was brighter now as she looked to it wondering if somewhere, somehow, her mother was looking at it to thinking of her daugther. Here in Helovia she may be safe, but she never felt more lost and alone. Her hopes were that a companion would not only make her feel safer.... but from what she had learned, she would never be alone inside her head again.

A fleck of gold in the trees above bounced between branches. The Thistle Meadow was a land between most others, and with the Qian being so widespread that they were, the little gold often found herself simply tracking their movements as they wandered from one place to another. While she had not followed the roany horse to the Veins, she could see the intense loneliness that haunted her. Akaith wished there was way she could help - even wished she could lay an clutch of eggs and have them all hatch before the young mare. But her children had never been inclined to be ones destined to bond with others - yet, anyway. Maybe one day, her children would bond with her bonded's own children. The thought made the little gold chitter with amusement, but was soon again forgotten, as something interesting was happening down below.

The scaly creature leaned over a branch to better observe the little femme, wrapping her strong tail around a branch, and around again to be sure that if she happened to lose grip, she would not plummet to the ground and make a huge disturbance. It had taken so long for her to learn subtlety, so many years of growing and learning with her bonded to blend in with one's surrounds and behave quietly, lest it be an occasion of celebration. With some surprise the little queen saw the apparition of a wolf appear before the appaloosa, and without hesitation, she flew from her perch to land upon Kiara's back. The dragon saw that the predator before them was but a ghost, but still felt the need to express her want of protecting the youth, and so flourished her wings artfully before tucking them back to her sides. Tilting her scaly head at the translucent canine, Akaith chirruped at her, and purred quietly to Kiara.

It was as if she said; "Be not sad, for we will help you escape your loneliness"

"You cannot allow yourself to dwell in the past." The wolf said knowingly to the young mare. "If you ever wish to find true happiness then you must press on with your life." It was a lesson her own pup had learned and had learned well. The mother was disappointed that the unicorn had not hunted for the pup and bonded with him, but he was strong and capable. Above all odds he had moved on and was doing well for himself. That was something that the mare before her needed to do.

The glint of gold in the sky caused the ghostly wolf to raise her head and watch the dragon as it swooped down to land upon Kiara's back in a very protective stance. "You worry for her without need." The wolf addressed Akaith. "Worry not, I have pledged my spirit to her. I will not harm her."

With the dragon addressed the wolf turned her attention back to Kiara. "You are never as alone as you truly feel." She smiled and walked toward the young mare. "Even if I am not present physically at your side I am with you. You just need to remember."

[I don't know how I could have missed this. But here Breeze comes!]

With the memory of the Earth God’s thunderous voice still fresh in his mind Breeze soared on an air current. He was slowly traveling north with stars to his right and the dying light of the day to his left. The growing dark colored half his body silver while the other half stayed creamy because of the last rays of the sun. However the silver sheen was growing over his body at the same rate as the night overtook the sky. The young buck had already begun questioning why he’d even gone to the Gods, why did he need a bird companion anyway? He could do well enough on his own, couldn’t he? Besides how did one cure the loneliness of another? He had no friends who were lonely, he had no friends at all really, but as he had grown more accustomed to these lands he didn’t feel so lonely anymore. No, he regretted asking the gods for something he now didn’t even felt he desired.

Breeze let out a sigh and started searching the ground for a nice place to land. He saw a river and close to it a big oak tree stood. He decided to rest there for the night before going back to the desert. As he started to spiral down however he was surprised by a metallic gleam which darted from the tree. Whatever it was it seemed to land somewhere in the grass, but Breezes view was obscured by the tall oak. When his spiral finally took him down to the ground he trotted round the tree and was surprised by three creatures.

One of them was a roan mare and the other two… well he wasn’t entirely sure if they were real. The golden, winged lizard looked to be breathing at least even if he’d never seen anything like her he believed she could be real, but the wolf… it was not at all like the star lupus Cassiopeia had had with her in the Threshold, but was it real? Breeze had no idea.

"Ehum… Hi." the now silver colored stallion said. His long mane wavered slightly in the breeze and his big owl wings were neatly tucked on his back so he didn’t look quite as big as he would have with them half extended. But he still looked older than he was, almost two years old, but he looked like three at least with his muscular body and long mane and tail.

Kiara sighed and nodded solemly. It was true she could not dwel in the past, but it didn't stop her from missing her mother. The moment Akaith land on her back the young roan smiled and turned to nuzzle the bonded of Mirage. The golden dragon rasied her wings, as if it was a show of defence should the ghostly wolf attack. Kiara could not help but smile. The chirp had Kiara closing her eyes, almost comforted by the sound. It was the words of the wolf that brought her attention back to the soul before her. She was speaking to the Queen of all the Dragons, the only gold Kiara had ever met and as far as she knew the only one who lived within Helovia.

When the dragon spoke to her again, Kiara listened. She was only startled by the sound of much larger wings. A silver colored stallion moved around the oak tree and seemed just as surprised as Kiara was. He looked around her age, maybe just a bit older. The slight breeze seemed to toy with his mane just as it did with her own. He spoke, breaking the silence. Her body tensed slightly, just because well he was a male after all. However in the presence of the ghostly wolf and Akaith, the young roan felt safe. "Umm Hi." Her green eyes focused on the silver knight, almost waiting to see if he was going to be like all the rest or if he would be honorable like Vikram and the others she had met in the Qian.

The dragon watched carefully, as the wolf addressed her. The little queen warbled a curious sound, acknowledging the canine's words. Scaly crown nods to the wolf, even though no harm would come to Kiara by the wolf's own paws and teeth, there were plenty of other things that might harm her young friend, so the worry was still present, just not directed at the ghostly carnivore.

Wingbeats caused her to lift her sharp gaze, directing it to the approaching steed. He was male, about the same age as Kiara, though with the effects of testosterone making his muscles beef up, she very well could have been guessing wrong. She was alert, her eyes watching him carefully, closely, ensuring that he meant no harm to the young roan she had attached herself to for today.

A loud trill sounded after the young equines shared simple greetings, the dragon queen wished these silly horses would greet each other properly sometimes. Her fellow dragon always greeted her with enthusiasm, even her bonded's refusal to make more of a display upon greeting fellow equines frustrated her sometimes. But it was her way, she knew, still, that did not mean she was restrained by such codes of silence and subtlety.

The trill rolled down in curious chitters, the dragon spoke to the gathered, with the curious tilt of her crown urging a conversation to occur. The young buck did not seem to want to cause harm, but he was so darn quiet and shy, just like Kiara… they needed a push in the right direction.

The mother wolf's head turned as another equid happened upon them, though this one was a pegasus. Kiara greeted him in the same shy, quiet method that he had greeted her. It made the ghostly wolf shake her head in exasperation. She knew not all horses were this shy, but having two of two of them in the same place was a little odd to her. But perhaps the male being shy was a good thing. Maybe Kiara would relax and she would be able to finally make a friend.

"Take care of her." The wolf said to the dragon before her body began to fade. She didn't think that Kiara needed two caretakers there to watch over her. Her hope was that with her gone the pegasus would relax and he and Kiara could talk and get on friendly terms.

Breeze shuffled his feet, embarrassed, shy and without any clue on how to either engage in conversation or politely excuse himself. The presence of the must-be-unreal-wolf made him very uncomfortable and he kept glancing towards it. He was embarrassed too that he hadn’t said anything more cleaver than “Ehum… Hi.”. However he had been severely surprised and if he had learned anything about himself in these past months it was that he needed proper preparation if he was to say anything that fitted into the category of ‘normal conversation’.

But the multicolored little mare answered him in the same manner he had greeted her and it immediately made him smile. Not a full-blown, teethy smile, but still a visible tug of the corners of his mouth. As heat quickly traveled to his face he looked down and pawed the ground slightly. And then the wolf disappeared with a few last words directed to the golden flying lizard. ”Take care of her.” Breeze’s gaze quickly darted to the sweet face of the girl. Did they really thing he could hurt her? His thoughts were easy to interpret in his black eyes as he opened up, letting the mare read him like an open book if she wanted, hoping she would see that he meant her no harm.

The metallic reptile then started chirping and trilling and Breeze looked at it curiously. After a few seconds he could not help himself… he started laughing. His youthful voice rose and fell and his eyes became shiny - reflecting the stars above. He couldn’t even keep his tightly folded wings to his body anymore and they fell down towards the ground - revealing the silver flecks on his back. He wasn’t laughing at the winged creature, but the sight of her sitting there and clearly encouraging him and the mare to speak to each other.

Breeze’s laugh then became a chuckle and when he finally managed to stop he gave the equine mare a wide smile. Her green eyes sparkled in the light of the moon and the stars and Breeze got stuck in them for a while as silence ruled between them. Then he finally found his words. "I am Breeze." he said softly, almost whispering. As if any loud words would ruin the moment and shatter the stillness around them. Carefully the young buck moved in a bit closer, simply because the distance felt awkwardly big if they were going to have a longer conversation.

Kiara's ears flickered back and forth as both the ghostly wolf and the golden dragon spoke, well the dragon more or less trilled and chirpped in a way that made the young appaloosa smile shyly. After all, what could happen with Akaith protecting her? The wolf took her leave, telling the dragon to keep her safe. It was the trills from Akaith that seemed to warm the conversation up. The young silver knight began to laugh, a warm heartfelt laugh. It was then she shyly looked to his black eyes and saw the kindness in them, much like the kindness in many of the stallions that were part of the Qian. It was in his eyes the roan could see the stats above.

Suddenly, for the first time since running away and arriving in Helovia she laughed. The laugh started small, but soon was rising and falling just like the stallion's laugh. She to was not laughing at Akaith, but more so at the way she was almost trying to make them talk more. When the silver flecked winged stallion stepped forward however Kiara fought every reaction in her body to keep from running. It was a habit for her, when it came to males to run away. His words were soft, and helped keep her rooted in place. Softly she answered him "I'm Kiara." Her emerald eyes did not leave his as she waited for him to speak again, almost trying to decide if she should give him a chance or just shyly take off running.

Akaith warbled her farewells to the fading image of the ghostly wolf, making promises to always keep an eye on young kiara - she was part of the Qian, and the Qian was a part of her bonded, and therefore a part of Akaith. The band was as much Akaith's as it was Mirage's and Vikram's. Of course the dragon would take care of its members.

Laughter resounded, and happily Akaith joined in, her musical voice rolling and tumbling forth on similar waves with the youngsters. She didn't realise that perhaps she had been the cause of their laughter, only that there seemed to be more celebratory acts now, which was what she had wanted.

However, one little thing did irk her. As they introduced themselves, Kiara neglected to introduce her. The queen nudged her nape fervently, looking at the young buck, arching her serpentine-like nape and puffing her chest out. A low trill tumbled from her maw, as she tried to communicate without having to resort to reaching her mind out to the gathered.

She laughed with him and then she spoke her name, as softly as he’d told her his. Her voice sent tendrils of warmth through his body and he even felt a bit lightheaded. Never had a mare’s voice affected him so. And her name… Kiara, it was a name so fitting, so lovely he wanted to say it again and again. What was these feelings? The young stallion didn’t understand them, for he had never known desire or even infatuation.

He had forgotten the winged lizard but its shrill voice woke him from his confused thoughts and when he again looked at it he remembered something his mother had told him about Isilme. The gold reptile must be a dragon! "Is she yours?" he asked Kiara and nodded towards the Gold. "She is very beautiful." he concluded as he gazed into Kiara’s green eyes. His heart started beating faster and he lost himself in the emerald gleam of her eyes for a second. How could they be so green? How could they glow so brightly? How could they make his heart ache like it did?

A swarm of fireflies suddenly flew towards them from the bank of the river. Breeze watched them buzz around them with a smile spreading on his lips. It was such a beautiful night, and he couldn’t be more happy about that is was still young. He looked to Kiara again. He wanted so badly to extend his muzzle and touch her roan neck. But she still looked a bit timid and he didn’t want to scare her away so for the moment he disregarded the need.

The young red roan watched the young stallion curiously. How was it, a fem so scared of males could suddenly well... Be comfortable around a stallion? Kiara did not think long on it as soon the golden queen sitting on her back nudged her. Oh that's right! The young appaloosa would of blushed if equines were capable of such things. She had failed to introduce Akaith. Just as she was about to speak however, it was as if the silver knight read her mind. Kiara smiled and answered softly "No, but i hope to bond one day to a companion as amazing as she is. Her name is Akaith, bonded to the Qian Leader Mirage." She smiled as he said the gold was beautiful. "Gold, fit for the Queen she is" The roan said proudly. Maybe it was Akaith's presence that had her so calm. After all, what harn could he do with a dragon attaking him?

The fireflies kind of startled the dove and without thinking she shifted a couple steps closer to Breeze. So close that it wasn't until she felt his warm breath near her cheek that she did. Embarressed she stepped back a step, not even realizing that he wanted to touch her. "Sorry" she murrmed softly, but at the same time almost wishing she had not stepped back again.

Her voice once again chased away the silence between them. Akaith? So that was the flying liz… öh dragon’s name? He gave it a glance before forgetting it again. It was as if his mind wasn’t able to hold more than Kiara’s word, her scent and her beautiful eyes. Her presence pushed away all other things and left his brain full of feelings which he described to himself as being the color red. It was hard for him to understand and comprehend the feelings because they were completely new to him. So red had to suffice.

When the fireflies surrounded them and she moved in closer all of Breeze’s blood seemed to rush to the point where his body was closest to hers, and it was almost impossible not to touch her lovely neck. He heard drumming in his ears and he was almost shaking. How did she do this to him? Was it magic? But then she stepped away again, apologizing, and his desire dimmed a little. Maybe this was magic, but he could not be sure for it seemed to come from within himself, but then again maybe that was the tricky thing about magic?

He considerd her words then. A little late, but it took a while for them to sink in. She wanted to bond to a companion, he was on a halfhearted quest for one. What if…?
His black eyes quickly darted to the sparkling gems that were her soul’s mirror. "Lady Kiara, if I told you to trust me, if I promised I just wanted to give you something… Would you follow me then?" It was such a weird question and he struggled to rephrase it . He sighed when he realized he couldn’t come up with anything that would make more sense. But he finished up with something he thought would make her feel more safe at least. "Akaith can of course come with us, and I promise that no harm will come to you!"

Was he just promising he would protect her from danger?! Oh boy, he barley had the nerves to stand up for himself, how could he stand up for both of them?

Kiara to did not understand the shyness, and not pure fear she felt around most males. Was Akaith keeping her calm, or was there something more? All she knew is the moment she stepped closer her heart raced wildly and she felt even more shy than before. He was quiet for a long time after she moved back. Kiara was almost worried that she had offended him when he finally spoke again.

His words... surprised her greatly. He wanted to give her something and for her to just trust him. It was a risk. Her frame tensed for about half a second before he also added that Akaith could come along to. Surely he meant no harm if he said the golden queen was welcome. She looked around, or well tried to look around to see Akaith would go with her. Softly she finally spoke. "I will trust you.... but where are we going?" His promise of no harm coming to her made the fem smile.... Maybe he wasn't so bad after all..... Maybe, just maybe they could be friend?
