So much had happened so quickly. Ciceron was now living with her, Ilios could fly, and she was about to have a baby. Speaking of which, pain rippled through her. 'Oh crap, at least I'm home this time.' The cream girl had been through this once before so she knew there was time to get somewhere safe. She decided quickly on the spring by the home tree in the west of her home. Penna soared low over her head cooing encouragement to her before flying high to scout the area. Nostrils dilated as she moved as quickly as her labor pains would allow.

After a while she finally made it there, just in time too. The contractions were only a minute a part by now. Finally happy with her place she lowered herself to the warm ground. It was shady, and next to the spring in case she needed a drink afterwards. Shake breaths rattled through her lunges. 'Here we go Penna.' Taking a deep breath she began to push. 'Want Ciceron?' Shaking her head the girl continued to bring her new baby into the world. Of course she wanted her mate there, but she did not want to be alone, and sending Penna away would do just that. A quiver ran over her pale hide, followed by sweat. 'Breath.' Doing as she was commanded the winged mare took in a few life giving breaths insuring she would not pass out.

One finally push expelled her foal fully. Panting she turned to see the most precious baby girl. Penna screeched his joy before floating down to them. Landing with a light thump sharp black eyes gazed over the pretty girl. 'Beautiful.' His words were a loving sigh within her brain. Trembling the proud mother licked her baby clean while names floated in her thoughts. Penna nodded happily with the choice she had made moments before she spoke, "Areli." She spoke the name warmly as honey eyes gazed down upon her smoky black and gold filly. Her mane and short fluffy tail were light shifting to brilliant gold. A sigh of pure joy ruffled her muzzle, before she whined her pleasure. Nuzzling her first daughter she waited for others to join them.

How he had known what was about to transpire was beyond him. Perhaps it was the faint sweetness of her smell in his nares, or maybe it was the dormant father inside him that swelled at the mere prospect of new life in his herd. He was their shepherd, and younglings were a blessing, a measure of fertility and love that encompassed the borders of his lands. Regardless, his patrol of the western border had lent him an eye to the hobbling mare beneath the lush greenery of the canopy. She was seen in mere snippets, little flashes of awareness that caught his eye and soon kept it. Brow crinkling in concern, perhaps a minuscule amount of curiosity, the king let his altitude drop to peer down through the branches at the young crafter. It soon became apparent who it was, and by the swell of her belly her hurried pace clearly had a reason.

Eyes going wide in understanding and excitement, Kaj swept down through the ceiling of leaves, letting them snag and caress his feathers in tandem as he landed swiftly. His joints complained but his heart was singing with anticipation. Parelia's pregnancy had not been secret to him, as she had been present when the Falls leaders had visited their borders. Even still, he hung back, wondering where the father was and why he was not present. After a few minutes, Kaj snorted to himself, determined not to leave his faithful crafter alone while she gave birth.

He announced himself with a careful snort, aware that her instincts might well demand he give her far more space. Approaching slowly, he sank to his knees, cooing softly with warm blue eyes. "You're doing great, Parelia," he murmured, alongside a various string of encouragements. It wasn't really his place to do so, more the father's, but there was nobody else to help her in bringing her son or daughter into the world. Majestic golden wings spread to give her some privacy, should any unwelcome herdmates wander into the area.

Moments later, Areli was born.

Kaj's breath stuttered to a halt, eyes wide and smile stretching his pale lips. It was a beautiful experience, and the tiny thing was precious in more ways than one. She seemed so fragile, and he wondered how she could hold within her the power of life and consciousness. He loved her immediately, in the way all leaders did their family of subordinates. Perhaps more so, because he had witnessed her arrival in the world. Gazing at Parelia, he could hardly contain the sudden force of his own excitement. It was as if he was glowing from the inside out, so joyous it nearly hurt.

"She's beautiful," he breathed, turning to stare once more at young Areli. Moving tentatively closer, prepared for the sudden protection of Parelia should it surface, he cooed at the little thing. "You have great things ahead of you, miss Areli. And you will have the might of all the Edge behind you in your endeavors. We will love you as one of our own," he swore, eyes suspiciously moist. His heart was pounding, elation making his feathers tremble delicately. This was why he wanted to be a father. This was why he cherished foals. Parelia had given him the greatest gift, without even meaning to, by allowing him to witness the first breath of her daughter.

Areli

It is too soon to leave this place, the warm dark world that has always been your home, but it seems that the landlady has decided to evict you without warning. You shift in protest, trying your best to wriggle your way deeper into the womb, but she’s having none of it. Out you go.

What follows next is the most uncomfortable experience in your young life. Wherever this wave is taking you, it’s unpleasantly tight here—not the comforting kind of cozy that your home was. Though your thoughts are still half-formed and fuzzy, you get the picture. In your primitive version of, “All right, you win!” you submit to the contractions, letting them carry you forward. It’s too cramped in here anyways.

It seems that your instinct was correct, for nearly as soon as you cease your struggle, there’s suddenly more space.
A lot more space. Tiny heart beats faster as you feel your hooves slip into a great unknown. Your teacup muzzle does its best to follow suit, stretching forward, eagerly probing through the damp darkness in search of the space ahead. Tightness, tightness…walls contract around you with alarming force, but with all of the determination in your little body, you burrow your head into…

…the world. In a powerful rush, the contraction releases, propelling you into what your infant mind can only comprehend as emptiness—pure emptiness. It is unsettling, the feeling here: all your life you have been held, cradled and cushioned in a floating world, but now there’s simply…
nothing. Panicked, you thrash about, seeking the boundaries of this new place, but your flailing hooves meet with nothing but the embryonic sac, which gives way at your touch. Without thinking, you gasp for air, and the transformation is complete. Things will never be the same.

• • • • • •

Blearily, baby eyes blink and long lashes flutter, drawing back the curtains to three suns: one big one on the outside, and two little ones reflected in the pale gold of your irises. Images bombard your brain, and you snort in childish surprise—there’s just so much here! Then, as if from a distance, you hear a voice. It is oddly familiar, as if you’ve heard it before…but how could you? Just a moment ago, you were in a completely different place! “Areli,” it whispers, and you feel a sense of wonder flood your body as you look up into the face of your mother for the first time. It’s a creamy blur, but a beautiful one, you think as you crane your neck. Wait, where’s it--? The blur is getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger, until…! Something warm and rough and strong caresses your forehead, and your muscles relax instinctively as she cleans you.

“Areli.” There it is again! But this time, you realize, turning your head to see a more gold-ish blur, someone else is making that sound. And a lot of other sounds too. “Grea…ahead o…Areli…all…Edge…deavors…will love youas…rown." Transfixed, you stare at this blob, wobbly neck doing its utmost best to hold your oversized head steady. Whoa.

OOC: Yay!

Each morning had been filled with tension knowing that Parelia was not only pregnant but based on his assumptions due anytime. As he had yet to officially been accepted into the herd his days were spent pacing the borders awaiting the verdict of the decision. His mate had come to see him much of the time but today had been different. Something was amiss and he was not liking the fact that Parelia had not appeared yet when it was already late in the day. He had tried calling out for her but so far no response had been heard from either himself of Kiara. How long could a decision take anyway. Stomping his hoof in impatience he continued his aggravated pacing until the faintest of scents caught his attention. Raising his head he flared his nostrils wide trying to get as much scent as he could at one time. Parelia...

Finally enough was enough he had had it with trying to wait around and be patient and polite he was going to find his mate. Directing Kiara to lead the way as her sense of smell was 100x better than his own he crossed the border knowing something was up. Kiara was glad to finally be able to do something other than listen to her bonded's rants and restlessness so she eagerly bounded up ahead catching the painted lady's scent with ease. Along with it came a whole host of other strange smells but also one that she knew quite well...blood. Choosing to withhold this little tidbit until she was sure she moved through the brush with ease until her icy orbs caught what she was looking for. The lady was laying on her side but she was not alone. Another winged male stood by her side which she immediately knew was not right. That was her bonded's lady! Slowing her pace she emerged from the brush growling menacingly with her teeth bared and hackles raised showing her clear displeasure for the other male. She wouldn't judge the painted one for she appeared to have something going on at the moment along with some sorta blob thing but she wasn't going to let someone hurt her grey.

Anger flashed through his mind as Kiara's attitude completely changed making his heart skip a beat in panic. Something had happened, but what? Was Parelia ok?!? Pinning his ears he moved along as fast as he could ducking under the cursed low branches and avoiding the large shrubs. "How is anyone expected to move in this place?" he grumbled under his breath before finally managing to break through the treeline without breaking his neck in the process. His silver orbs flashed over the scene as he was assaulted by all these different scents that smelled strangely familiar yet not completely known to him. Stopping dead he snorted softly as his eyes passed over Parelia laying in the grass along with someone completely unfamiliar to him. Only seeing the front portion of his mare he had no idea what lay on the other end. Ignoring the other pegasus his immediate concern was with Parelia as he quickly yet quietly moved to her side lowering his head to her face.

"Parelia? What's going on are you alright?" He asked urgently his voice full of concern. As his eyes scanned over her body protectively the surprise laying by her rear left him speechless. Taking a step in the little filly's direction he lowered his head in awe and complete wonder. This..this was theirs? Extending his muzzle carefully towards the small girl he hesitated not sure what to do before turning back to Parelia as if for permission to meet his new daughter.

It was a variety of noises that finally drew the queen’s attention- screeching from a familiar hawk, the wings of her beloved king, grunts of pain or some other emotion, and the snapping of branches as a body forced its way through the underbrush of the Edge. It was rare in this serene forest that such a commotion was made, so naturally Kahlua was drawn to it. Her steps were cautious at first, lest it be some game of children. Were it so, she would not want her presence made known. To see them was one thing, to have to play with them… it wearied her heavy heart and only made her think of too many things. A life with children, Kaj, love, responsibility… No, it would be best to avoid foals if possible.

Regardless, it seemed that she was destined to interact with children. From beyond in the trees, she saw a strange scene indeed. Parelia on the ground, a foal laying just behind her; Kaj on the ground, wings spread- to provide some privacy?; and then there was Ciceron, latest member of the Edge herd. A birth.

Kahlua watched from a distance, painted body hidden in the light and shadows that made their way through the canopy above. And yet, for all the awe that seemed to be directed towards the child, the Sunshower only saw her king. She had hardly ever seen such love on his face, such warmth radiating from his body. He could not have looked more handsome to her in that moment, and her heart ached to go and join him, to cuddle close to him, to press against his side and feel his wing drape over her back. She wanted to love him openly and fully, without reservation and reserve. She wanted him to look upon her the way he looked upon the child.

However, for all her wants, the queen dare not draw closer. There was too much hurt between her and Kaj, and she could not hurt him again the way she had before. To stand near him with a child upon the ground might break his heart again- remind him of the way that she had almost dared to love him, only to withdraw as he mentioned children. So she stood in the shadows, blue eyes fixated upon the Stormbringer, memorizing his face in this moment so that she could remember it later.

Penna screeched as the stallion approached, before realizing who it was. 'Just King relax.' For Parelia had snorted in mild fear as the hoof beats reached her ears. Sinking her head back to the ground she smiled sheepishly as Kaj lowered down beside her. His warm voice and eyes calmed her frayed nerves. She enjoyed his company and spared a bit of strength to extend her muzzle to him. Honey eyes gazed deeply into his for a moment. It was nice to have a stallion so close, that wasn't freaking out, like Ciceron. Flopping her dome back down the mare continued to push, even as massive wings extended over her frame, until finally the filly slipped into the world.

After licking Areli clean she smiled warmly at her king, "Thank you Kaj. I appreciate the support." Her voice was shaky with her exhaustion. His slow nervous movements were missed by the girl. There was no need fro him to be worried, not when he knew the king was so trustworthy. Nudging her baby softly enticing her to stand. Not like there was any rush, she didn't know if she could stand yet herself. Golden eyes turned from herself to Kaj causing a trembling smile to cross her face. A deep growl drew ears back sharply pressed firmly against her skull, until she noticed the white tiger. "Kiara!" Penna took up the idea from his soul-mate leaping towards the cat wings spread wide. He was carefully to make himself look as calm as possible. 'Down kitty!' A giggle slipped from her lunges before she looked passed the pair, waiting on Ciceron.

It felt odd, like her heart was trying to turn her eyes, but not towards the filly. A few moments later Ciceron burst from the undergrowth pushing the thoughts away. Her voice was stronger now, but still tired, "Ciceron, I'm fine and so is our little girl, Areli. Also this is our King Kaj, he was protecting me." The last few words felt odd to say, like they meant more to her than she realized. It felt uncomfortable, almost like she blamed the silver stud that he was not with her when she needed him most. The unicorn moved slowly to them, dazed. He reached for the golden trimmed girl before looking for permission. Nodding stiffly she felt more nervous about him than her king... Gulping the girl looked from father to golden king confusion rampaged through her. Penna flew into a tree above them to watch. He already knew what was happening and knew it was not good.

Her relieved visage only strengthened the feeling Kaj had that he was doing the right thing. Though he didn't want the little one to imprint upon him as its father, for that was the real father's pleasure, he wanted nothing more than to be there and support the young maiden in her trials. Kaj was fully aware of the pains and labors of birth, especially as it had been pressed upon him since he was out of the womb himself that stallions were meant only for protection and procreation. He respected Parelia for going through it, and with such an open and gentle countenance to her name.

Her words were strained but sincere, and Kaj smiled lightly in response, leaning forward to accept her weakly proffered muzzle. His own pale maw touched hers gently, careful not to overstep his boundaries and simultaneously wondering where the father was. Should he be absent, as Ilios claimed he was, Kaj's anger would know no limits or boundaries. Especially if it was the same stag who had led to the conception of the quiet colt Kaj had taught to fly. Parelia was a sweet mare, and she served him and Kahlua faithfully and with no qualms or questions when the asked her to craft, sometimes on a moment's notice. Anyone who dared to harm her would find themselves subjected to his fury and vengeance.

"You're welcome," he assured softly, the protectiveness shining like beacons through his eyes, guiding her through the storm of her ordeal. It was worth the wait and the slight strain on his wings to see Areli turn her tiny head towards him as he spoke, his heart jolting far more than anything his magic could produce. It simply took his breath away. However, his sense of awe was disrupted by a rather fierce companion entering the fray. Instinct had his wings spreading, main feathers sharp like daggers as his teeth bared to chase the threat away from the new babe.

Only when Parelia called out a name did Kaj relax, though he held no remorse for his actions. Had it truly been a threat, it would have been extinguished. Kaj held foals in high regard, and he would not let one- especially one of his flock- be harmed beneath his reign. Soon after a stallion crashed through the brush, eyeing Kaj with the same wariness that the king returned. Parelia once again spared the brute, and Kaj let his wings slowly drop and collect back at his sides to allow Ciceron the ability to see his daughter freely. He had to have joined recently, and beneath either Kahlua's or one of the council's approval, as Kaj did not recognize him. It seemed he did not recognize Kaj either, and the desire to put him in his place and show proper respect was quelled and calmed by the fact that Ciceron did not know who he was or why he was near his newly born daughter.

Standing gracefully, he offered Ciceron a short smile. "You have a beautiful daughter." Turning he ducked his head back to Parelia's level, concern taking up his features. "Would you like me to fetch some Angelica? We have plenty in the garden, it should help with the effects," he offered softly. It was also a reason to leave and give the new family some privacy, and Kaj hoped she would pick up on that and show him her decision accordingly.

Ilios
Sighing the colt stood quietly atop the cliff silver eyes gazing down at the raging ocean. The foamy waters seemed to match the feeling within his chest. Head bowed the youth submitted to his emotions, heartbreak and fear crashed over him. Ciceron was here now, he had a sibling on the way. This was ridiculous! His supposed father had only, in his mind, come home to be with his new kid. Ilios was nothing but a second thought. Liquid silver blazed with fire and water. Shaking his head trying to clear his broken heart the colt sighed. He needed to get away, to be alone for a while, or with someone that could do all the talking, if peace could not be found.

Spreading silver and teal wings the gold boy wheeled away from the cliff using the clear area to get a racing start. Long legs ate the ground easily, while large growing wings pumped effortlessly against the warm air. Flight was a difficult thing, but it was slowly growing easier. Lift happened just as the runway was coming to an end. Pulling up sharply to avoid the trees he set out west. After a while a coppery scent soared up to him, hoovering the colt weighed his options. Without another thought silvery wings pulled in plummeting towards the ground.

Suddenly the scents grew familiar panicking he plunged through the trees, limbs catching and tearing flesh in small scratches. They would heal easily without scaring, and the pain was dismissed. This mother was bleeding; he had to get to hurt. He landed to the right, and slightly ahead of his Queen; she was unnoticed. Breathing heavily he burst into the clearing. Kaj was upon the ground next to his mother, Ciceron and Kiara were close by, and a small form was next to his mother. Freezing he watched Kaj rise and offer to gather something for Parelia. His mother had said something about a daughter. Silver oculars found the babe beside her. Love and protection pounded through the worry he had felt. "Oh mother, she is so pretty..." His voice was breathy as he moved forward. Hesitating next to his silver father, fighting the anger and hurt towards the stud, he lowered his horned head next to the girl. "Hello sister, I'm your big brother." Smiling warmly at the golden eyed filly he relaxed visible breathing her scent in memorizing it.

Feeling rather dazed from the surprise and the shock of seeing his daughter laying there beside Parelia the grey took a couple moments before words could be spoken once more. Flicking his ears in the pegasus's direction his expression softened as the realization that his family was safe and sound spread through his mind. Letting his head fall to nuzzle Parelia's neck once more he sighed softly in relief. While he wished that he would have been able to be here to see the birth of his daughter he was glad that his mate was not alone through it all. Lifting his head to focus his eyes on Kaj he dipped his head in respectful gratitude. "Thank you for being here for Parelia. I regret not being here myself sooner but we had yet to receive confirmation on whether or not we were allowed to join your family. Miss Kahlua had met with us but not given a straight answer so we did not want to impose until we knew for sure."

Why did it feel like everytime he tried to do something right things always ended up going so wrong? First was when Ilios was born and Parelia had left their herd to go elsewhere and now he had missed his daughters birth. Maybe he was just a failure at being a father... The thought was painful but he could not shake that feeling. Lowering his head to Areli he tried to lick at her neck lovingly still in total disbelief. "Areli welcome to the world."

Kiara was only able to relax when she was sure that everything was alright with this situation. When peckerhead had swooped down in front of her she had stopped her advance to stare at him incredulously. Really did he think that he could stop her if she really wanted to do something? Sinking down in the grass when her grey arrived on scene she ceased her growling but kept her eye on the strange stallion still not completely sure of him. Why was he here anyway? Raising a paw in an attempt to swat Penna away playfully she finally gave up on the stallion for he had not done anything worrisome since she had been watching him.

Hearing the rustle of bushes once more the stallion turned his head to see Ilios had arrived. Wickering gently to him in greeting he took a step back so that he might be able to see his new sister. Watching him proudly as he advanced towards Areli and spoke he reached his muzzle forward to touch his nose to Ilio's side affectionately. So much time had been wasted and he did not want to waste another second with his son or his family. He just hoped that Ilios could find it within himself to forgive him for not being there as much as he wanted to for them. Once things settled he would have to make a point to talk to Ilios and make sure that he is alright. He wanted to get to know everything about his son and love him as he should be loved.

Areli

You feel the surface under you buzz and thrum with a strange sort of vibration, and suddenly, this empty world isn’t so empty. The quiet moment is interrupted by the arrival of a slinking, prowling thing, and though the sound is muffled, you hear the quiet rumble of death coming from its throat. Afraid, you squeal, and gangly legs scrabble about in the dirt as you react instinctively, struggling to stand. But your efforts, though energetic, are clumsy…and for some reason, you feel oddly off-balance every time you come close to positioning yourself upright. With a quiet squeak, you collapse onto the earth behind your mother, trembling from alarm and exhaustion.

But the slinky thing that is Kiara pays you no mind. A dark blur swoops down from above, and nervous eyes follow its movement—how many creatures are there in this place? Yet your welcome to the world is just getting started.

One blur, then another, appears from the brush. Though you can’t see them clearly, you take note of the pointy-ish things on what seems to be the front end—oh, and these ones make noises too! The first, who approaches with heavy thuds, stops near Mama and turns to you. Warily, you survey him…but Mama doesn’t seem to be worried, so you suppose you shouldn’t be either. After all, nothing happened with the slinky thing that made the rumbly noise, right? This one makes different sounds, though. You can’t understand a lot of them, but your infant ears pick out one word, over and over: Areli. What is an Areli? Could…could you be the Areli? Bemused, dark ears twitch at the sound of the word, wondering. Then, the big blur lowers the pointy thing at you, and there it is again: Areli! Happily, you snort in recognition, little tail sweeping back and forth. Emboldened by your accomplishment, your small muzzle darts upward, seeking to meet that of the silver stag who, unbeknownst to you, is your father.

Lighter vibrations ripple across the ground’s surface, and the second blur comes into view—way into view. Blur number two isn’t as big as blur one, but he still towers over you. Like the first one, he lowers the pointy thing at you too and makes noises. No Areli though. Expectantly, you look up at him, waiting for the syllables to fall from his lips as well. Areli. You like that.

OOC: Side note—she still hasn’t stood and will have trouble doing so because of her hearing and the way it affects her balance. If Parelia were to get up, she might try to follow her in the next post!

Honey orbs looked into blue as his soft muzzle brushed her own. If she had not been so busy, the mare would have relished the touch, his masculine scent. The emotions shinning within his handsome eyes caused her to relax. When her gaze fell upon Areli, she knew all the pain and being land bound was not in vain. She was stunning. Where had the gold come from? Who cared where it had come from, she loved her pretty daughter. The scent of her son drew ears up nervous that he would reject her. Instead he was thrilled. His words eased her worried mind. Smiling warmly she looked around the gathering enjoying the attention her baby was getting. She was welcome within her family, a cherished soul that would be well cared for.

A small part of her wanted Kaj to lean down nuzzle her, but Ciceron held that honor. A smile graced her lips nonetheless and she returned his gesture pressing her nose to his neck. Penna jumped into the air avoiding the cat's paw easily. Would the tiger ever grow up? Swooping over her head he flew back to Parelia landing beside her head before rubbing his beak against her dainty jaw. Kaj's words drew her attention away from the falcon. "That would be very nice, thank you.""Come on now Areli it's time to get up and eat." Her voice was soft and warm as she lowered her muzzle gently trying to nudge her daughter up.

Smiling jovially the winged mare moves away a little trying to get Areli to stand up. If she didn't soon she would have to send for Aly or another healer. It wasn't normal for babies to stay down for to long. Ilios had hit the ground trying to get up. Nervously she watched her daughter's tail swish and her head turn; something was definitely wrong. Stepping back beside the girl she tried to look into her stunning golden eyes. Was she focusing right, or was Parelia just being a worried mother? Wondering if anyone else noticed something strange she turned honey eyes to Ilios then Ciceron, not missing the way her son's muzzles tensed as his father moved touched his golden side. Sighing softly the looked back Areli.

Mama starts making noises, and you turn your whole head toward her to listen—hers is your most favorite voice of all, so warm and musical. Perhaps it’s because you’ve been hearing it since before you were born, but you take instinctive comfort in the sound of her talking and you nicker in contentment…until she starts moving away! Mama! you try to squeak, but the words get all jumbled up in your throat and no sound comes out. Don’t leave me behind!

Once more, long limbs flail about, and suddenly—you don’t know how—you’ve managed to gather the back two under you, leaving you kneeling awkwardly with tiny buttocks up in the air. How…how do you make these things move where you want them? The weight of your newborn wings doesn’t help either, for they flop open immediately, pitching you over and onto your side. With an indignant grunt (now that you’ve noticed Mama’s not going anywhere), you thrash your legs out again, managing to roll onto your belly. This is tricky stuff, tumbling about in all this space! You find yourself wishing for the old world you’d left not an hour ago: it may have been cramped, but at least you didn’t have all these limbs to manage.

Thin sides heave as little lungs gulp down air before you renew your efforts. You are beginning to grow tired and hungry, but the answers all seem to lie with Mama and she’s all the way over there. Inwardly, you groan. Can’t she just come back here? But Mama won’t budge; she only makes a huffing noise and turns her head towards you, as if she is looking at you. Fine. Concentrating hard, you wiggle around so that all your limbs are underneath you. Then you strain…but nothing happens. So you wiggle around some more. Long front legs shoot out, and then your back legs kind of splay sideways, and then more squirming and a mighty SHOVE…! All at once, every small hoof braces against the earth and you are miraculously upright. Shaking from the effort, you try to hold yourself up. Now if you can just get to Mama…

But you can do no more for now, and you won’t have the energy to even try if you don’t get some food in you. The thought of lifting a hoof to get to Mama makes you dizzy—even now, you feel as if the ground is tilting steeply to the side. Legs splayed wide, golden eyes seek Mama, pleading silently with her. Won’t she come back and feed you?

OOC: Because posting order is a lie? Sorry that it's out of turn; I just figured I'd have her do something so that they've all got something to look at xD

Shadows danced and the wind blew as the queen waited out of sight. The grown family was a beautiful one, for sure, and the forest was alight with life at this special moment in their lives. There was one thing in the forest, however, that did not shimmer in happiness.

Watching the happy family from the shadows, there was nothing more that Kahlua wanted to do than to join them. She wanted to give them smiles and laugh with them, celebrate the child’s successes and the mother’s job well done. She wanted to rejoice at the new life brought into the world and the new voice that would fill the Edge’s forestland. But whatever she wanted, it would not be, because she could not bring herself to come closer to the happy family. In this moment, she was the Storm Bringer and Kaj was the Sunshower. She would only bring darkness to the gathering, brooding and sorrow, tears that were out of place… She would not ruin Parelia’s happiness that way.

A soft whicker whispered from the shadows, a song of desire and sorrow, of congratulations and joy, and though her hoof twitched forward, she did not give in. Forcing herself to turn around, she walked through the brush and back into the shadows from whence she had come. In another life, or at another time in her current one, she might have been able to join them. But now she could not. With Kaj there, it was all too much for her gentle heart.
