I flew back toward the volcanic Island where I had met her. The mare
who ruled the sky and the night with a cunning brilliance, the Goddess
of the Moon. Her quest had not taken me all that long to complete, in
actuality, having it finished before the end of the season, but my
brethren had kept me away from collecting. With the Tuuli set out
fashioning for war, we were a people on the rise. There was little
time for personal ventures toward this lady of the night.

My magic, which I had already put off for so long, could wait.

However, I had saved Thalia from the pack of wolves. She had been a
strange mare, plenty standoffish, but I still felt a strange sense of
camaraderie with her. She was a warrior much like me, and for that, I
owed her everything I could give. The mare had vowed to remember my
daughter’s name, but that was of little importance now. I had found
Onni, reunited with her in the Heavenly Fields. Her grown form had
reminded me of the small filly I had rescued from her fear in the
Threshold, the same painted coat and blue eyes. Still, my daughter had
lived, as that young girl had. Both were a miracle to me.

Now, I land upon the edges of the glowing lava, walking toward the
shrine I had visited in the heart of winter. “I’m sure you know,
Goddess, that I have completed the tasks you asked of me. I have
rescued two of my kin,” I say, my voice booming. “I have come to
collect to better serve my people.”

The slender violet figure steps out from behind Kri, her silver tipped
wings brushing the other mare's side. A happy glow rests on the
ageless face of the Moon God, her silver eyes gleaming with a certain
amount of pride. The tasks set before the mare were completed, in a
good amount of time. This warrior was at least interesting, making an
effort to accomplish the task she set before her. And, obviously, a
patron to the wind. It never hurt to have such a willful child to do
your bidding.

"Impressive," the feminine voice coos as the Goddess steps around to
the front of the bay mare. "You completed your heroic missions rather
quickly, Kri now of Helovia." A friendly smile graces the face of the
moon quickly, before fading away back into her elegant yet cool
expression.

"When you wake in the morning, you will find yourself able to control
the pressure of the air around you. I hope it helps."

"Thank you, Lady Luna," I say, my feminine voice sincere. The time
would come when the invasion would be near, but I would need practice
with this new ability. I could change the ferocity and direction of
the wind, but that was different than sending it to condense into a
forceful push. I had tried to accomplish this with my current magic,
but all attempts had failed. The wind simply could not be harnessed
for such a thing.

Until the Goddess of the Moon allowed me to do so. I smile at her
obligingly, nodding at her finally comment, before turning away from
the island and launching myself into the air. Hopefully, this would be
my last encounter with the Gods.
