No Time for Lies and Empty Fights

As darkness amassed across the far eastern horizon, and night’s glitter began to emerge through the dimming blue sky, Hector’s step at last fell upon the rocky north shore of his home. The land-bridge binding Dragon’s Throat to the mainland was long and perilous, littered with rubble and loose sand – enough to bring grief to any whom wandered without care or consideration.

At that moment, he turned to Sardonyx and sighed deeply. "Our home lies beyond the bridge - we have beaten the night." A light chuckled resonated through his cavernous chest, and he could barely resist the urge to tease his long lost brother. "You will find your beauty-sleep before the dawn after all!" It was amusing. All those years ago, Hector had always viewed the other as the joker – sweet talking and swift-witted, but now, as attentive ears turned to hunt the fathomless drone of the roan’s voice, it seemed their conflicting personalities had swapped almost entirely.

The sound of mirth soon waned beneath the steady hum of coastal wind and turning waves, and the copper Tribrid began forward again, picking a very precise path between the debris - which once upon a time had been surrounded by seemingly endless desert. Down to each side, angry sea lashed at jagged cliffs and cold, brackish mist was hurled across their path. The cool cloud through which he led was a stunning relief after such a long journey, though he knew that as it dried (because the air would lose all moisture inland), it would crust through his already sweaty coat and itch terribly.

"Our herd recognizes the God of the Sun, patron of this land." Hector mentioned as he went along slowly. "...He has installed three heads of power, Gaucho the Wildfire, Tandavi the Fire Dancer and Bruce (he never could pronounce it right) the Morningstar." The latter, he was none to certain about and watched always with guarded reservation – he had arrived like a whirlwind, winning hearts and brandishing crocodile smiles; but the loyal soldier was sceptical.

They neared the southern section of the bridge and in the dusky light; the giant could see the familiar pattern of rocks that more or less marked the borderline. He threw a tremendous roar into the evening sky before settling again into conversation – there would be another to welcome their arrival he predicted boldly, by the time they had reached that outcrop. "What interests have you these days anyway? Do you think you will pursue your martial training again?" Stones clattered beneath a misplaced step, but the mindful stallion steadied himself easily, wings unfurled for added balance. "Mind your step there, Nyx..."

Trotting up beside him the males large body slowed and he stood there dreary on his feet, he gave his friend and heart brother a dark and withering look that told him he just wanted sleep. Ears flicking forward he caught more of his words and his tongue moved over his lips, snorting softly he tossed his head up the bangs of his mane flying from his eyes. "Sun god... ?" He asked softly and moved to stand just behind his left flank, his black orbs raising to the sky to peer at the sky, he knew it was dark but still. The sight of the moon making her climb relieved him greatly to the point he would want to dance around like a colt, sighing he lifted his front leg wearily and twitched his ears.

"I do not know those you speak of." He said before following him again, tail lashing from the side he listened and watched. "I don't have much interests in anything these days, and yes I have missed that training much." He almost laughed when he nearly took a tumble of the side, carefully maneuvering around the edge as well he lashed his tail again walking slow and tiredly.

No Time for Lies and Empty Fights

That’s strange... Hector thought, passing his narrowed eyes in a grand sweep from left to right. He and Sardonyx had arrived by the border, yet there was not even the slightest hint of company along the horizon in any direction – save for the waterlike mirage that distorted the break between sky and land. Although he could accept that the preparations for both the Wildfire’s quest and the celebration, was a valid enough reason for sparse activity, it troubled the vigilant warrior enormously that the borderline had not eyes trained upon it regardless.

Veci, would you travel around us? See if there are any patrols in progress please... The Boggart sauntered languidly away through the evening breeze, peering about him with only a vague interest in his assignment – what he really sought were helpless victims, fears to wield before terrified eyes.

Tentatively he returned focus to the roan by his side. Snorting softly, and without the humour which had tickled his tone previously he explained, "The God of the Sun is one of four – easily the most beautiful. Sun, Earth, Spark and... Well three, and the Goddess of the Moon. Aside from this land (horned nose gestured around them), He has given our herd sacred flames, some which heal and other to melt metal. Ranked Dragon warriors have also been blessed with abilities to aid them in battle." Suddenly Hector glanced furtively away and his narrow ears swivelled backwards. One burly knee lifted high against fleshy, copper breast and he thrust down his hoof with wings half-rising in unison.

At once, the earth shook lightly around Hector, potentially throwing Sardonyx off balance.

"See!" A sly, teasing grin drew back his lips from off-white teeth. "You could wield similar if you prove your worth in the army..." All of that aside, the giant still stewed over their lack of company and grunted, disconcerted, and stepped from the rocky bridge onto sand. His recruit would come to little mischief while Hector’s company – that was certain – and at a swift swinging gait he lead the other still deeper into the desert, toward the flicker of growing shadowy green in the distance. There would be somebody in the oasis, surely; he would drag the poor roan from the west coast to east if need be.

@[Sardonyx] – Don’t forget the 250 word count, anything less doesn’t give me much to work with :P
* Note: Magic ability used - War Stomp: A single stomp of the hoof can lightly rattle the ground and throw an opponent off balance.

(Still looking for a ranked character to accept him too)

Hours ticked away with a speed so lazy the champagne could of taken up counting all the stars within the oynx blanket that swept over blue mirrors and have finished long before the dawn graced the oasis. Sleep was irregular and unwilling to cooperate, forcing her into finally giving up the lsot cause. Along the recent moon phases, it had evaded her time and time again, a shy spirit that lacked trust in the ability of the Sun Physican.
Turned out into the open space beneath the safety of a faint glow, the sea speaks with vulgar insults and punishes the sands without end, stabbing her hooves with warm waters and receding shortly after attack. Passing under the cover of darkness, she tries for the bridge, longing for escape, freedom, a taste of what it's not like to be under house arrest.
Before her flee can deemed successful, the new woman is captured by a friendly giant whose noble face is nothing but familiar, trailed by the presence of another male, one who joins the elite of those that have gazed down upon her when she is accustomed to standing over others. When she has grown close enough that the light of her horn could reach with it's fingertips outstretched and almost touch the outlines of toned muscles, the ground lies to her and she stumbles, shaken and tripping over gravestone-formed keratin as her short strided trot is disrupted. A lone snort bursts from widened nostrils, whites encircling pale eyes with confusion and slight terror. Was there something wrong with the earth?
Painting an embarrassed smile, she pulls herself together enough so that the men aren't to laugh at her misfortune. She's glad to see Hector once he is before her, and while she considers him a mutual, a trustworthy individual whose worries went out to with the rest of a short bunch, the present was not the future where there was time to ensure that during his time of absence all had been well. A stranger has been brought in with intentions of acceptance, and it was the least that could be given.
"I'm Sikeax, Sun Physican of this herd, but all know me as Sia and you may call me as so. Welcome." She whispers to them, tone low and soft, hoping that it turns away the facts that she has never accepted a soul within the herd when it was someone else bringing them home, especially after embarrassing herself.

OOC: So sorry for taking so long on this.
Bit rusty btw as an explanation for my weird writing style as of the moment.

"If you could hear me then, can you hear me now?"

Earth shaking slightly Nyx glared at his friend, black orbs filled with anger which he grappled to control. He went to retort at him but stopped when another horse approached after the earth was shaken by Hector, curious now he moved to stand at the stallions side.
