Daemyn

Every day since he had found the precious blue egg the stallion had cared for it the best he could. He was careful to never put to much pressure on it, or let it get to cold. He was still taking care of it, even when he was patrolling the land. Ever since the herd meeting Daemyn had been doing double patrols, taking advantage in his lack of peaceful sleep. It wasn't easy carrying a stick around all the time, but he couldn't just leave the defenseless egg alone. Pondering what kind of creature that was swaddled in the warm embryonic fluids. He had almost convinced himself that it was just a random birds egg, or maybe a snake's that had somehow been moved from it's safe nest. But some small hopeful part hoped it was something more, maybe like the dragon's he had seen flying around him. It didn't even have to be a dragon to make him happy, anything would be more than perfect. No matter what it was, companion or not, he would take care of the baby snoozing inside. A soft smile drew his kissers up slowly as lilac eyes gazed down at the stick now between his striped hooves.

It twitched roughly and he threw his nose down towards it. Was it finally time for the baby to leave the safety of it's shell? Excitement coursed through him as he watched the egg intently. The twitching and rocking increased rapidly and a small crack formed on the exterior. "Come on little guy, you're so close!" The rocking stopped for a moment before increasing it's struggles. Suddenly the blue shell fell apart revealing a small black and brown puppy. He gasped as his bright eyes fell upon it. His mind seemed to expand and he could feel a strange ravenous hunger ripple through him. Dark hazel eyes met amethyst for a moment before Daemyn reached forward to carefully lick the pup clean. His heart warmed intensely as he realized the bond that had been instantly made as the fluffy beast had burst forth into the hot world.

Smiling brightly they stared at each other before the pup wobbled carefully towards him. As he tripped the dark muzzle flashed out to catch him from hitting the ground. A small yelp sounded from the startled boy before he realized his bonded caught him. Smiling warmly at his new companion he thought of names. "How does Mato sound? It means bear, and you look like the cutest bear cub I've ever seen." His deep thunder was soft and loving. Small pink tongue flicked out to gently lick the dark muzzle he was now leaning on.

ISOPIA
In reality's shadow the blind see best.

"But it isn't a bear."

The girl's voice rained down from the tree branch in which she sat. She was in her raven-form, as she usually was these days, although she was clearly discernible based on the starkly contrasted white skull markings that lined her avian skull. The girl adjusted her black wings against her small body, as her head titled back and forth as she peered down at the pair below. She knew many had these sort of bonds. Her mother had a dragon, Aly had an owl .. the boy in the forest had a dragon, and a whole host of others she had seen during her Father's trials had strange animals following them around as well. It was apparently common place in these lands to be connected with someone else, although the girl failed to see the desire, or the mechanics behind how it happened.

However none of that detracted from her original thoughts on what was occurring below. The creature was definitely not a bear. Why give it a name that it couldn't help but fail to live up to?

"It's a dog." Then, just in case she was somehow mistaken she added: "Isn't it?"

The girl had seen Daemyn around the Edge. He held some sort of .. fighting position. She wasn't entirely sure how the ranks worked, she was only clear on the ones that her mother dictated. From the little she had learned, it seemed that Kahlua was not in charge of the fighting-side of the herd. It was as if the herd politics were somehow compartmentalized. Perhaps that was wise.

This was the first time she had ever spoken to the silver bay, and, in typical fashion, the girl did not bother to introduce herself or say hello. She knew that most in her herd viewed her as strange due to the fact that she aged faster than children her age, and had still left her name undecided. Not to mention she was the offspring of a God.
