Your hunting, while displeasing to you, has been successful. After the
initial walk back to the Throat, you begin to notice a bit of stirring
from the basket between your wings. Startled, you stop to see what the
fuss is about. The small little egg begins to crack, and a red beak
pops open to look at you.
Emerging from that egg is a small, baby Diamond Firetail finch, and he
is hungry.

The sound of cracking makes Onni stop dead in her tracks. She rustles
her wings to bring the basket gently to the ground, pale face shoved
ever so close to it as she observes the hatching. A little baby bird
breaks free of the shell at last, and the mare proffers a beaming
smile in return. "Hello, there," she says, a chime of bells composing
her voice. The chirp for food begins almost immediately, though, and
the tobiano starts by offering up the food she had collected for her
new friend.
"Welcome to the world, Lyhty," she says, a bigger smile on her face.

The hungry little bird quickly consumes your offerings, completing the
bond between you. With a rush of sudden clarity, you can feel the
emotions of the tiny life you saved from the clutches of death. Your
minds meld together, and you feel the surprise of your new companion
as he too realizes he can hear your thoughts. Your companion is a
friend for life, Onni. Take care of him well.
