Patrols had taken him west, and though Cera was reluctant as ever to leave his home and his family, his duty could not be ignored either. Ilaria was deliriously happy to finally be along for the journey, as he often pleaded with her to remain with either Ranjiri or Ryuu, to keep them safe and give them company that they so badly needed when he was busy or gone. It rankled Cera to see that he was as busy as his father had once been, but he always told Gaucho when the load was becoming too heavy, when he needed time with his family. Cera would not become Midas. He would rather die than turn into his father, for as much as he loved his father - and oh how his heart still ached with the fierce love he held for that poor man - Cera could still never stand behind his choices in life.

An eagle screamed overhead, and Cera glanced up, watching its form cross the dusk skyline as it pursued a prey Cera could not see. Ilaria shivered and made an odd, growling hiss in her throat. Cera turned and pressed his nose to her soft fur, easing her. "All is well, Illy. You know it would not dare with me here." Sometimes it was easy to forget that Ilaria was still seen as nothing but an animal to simpler minded creatures, to know how easily she could be swept up and killed. Each time Cera was reminded of it, it was like someone dumped ice into his stomach, making him both shiver and cramp horribly with the fear of losing her in such a brutal, careless fashion.

Nevertheless, Ilaria clung closer to him, eyeing the skies warily before finally dropping off to sleep in the nest she'd made of his hair at the base of his neck. Cera shook his head fondly, the Rotunda in the distance alerting him to the fact that he'd made it to the area he'd been assigned to patrol. Still, even in the descending dusk the humid air was distracting - though admittedly not nearly as bad as the desert, one of the benefits to the wooded western wildlands - and the deep creek that wounds its way past the structure that he was still privately enamored with was too tempting to ignore. Cera set out to find the bend of it, the alluring coolness of its shallows. The river beside the Rotunda was frequented often, as it was right beside the landmark, but Cera was on patrol and as such needed to be alert for everything regardless of its placement.

Turning his back to the elegant structure, the Prince waded through crinkly, dry ferns that were still stubbornly holding onto life. They grew greener near the bank, dropping off almost reluctantly into sand and shoal, then shallows that Cera waded into. Sighing happily, the Prince dropped his wings, propelling them idly through the water as if he was splashing. Casting little droplets of water onto his overheated frame, reveling in the reprieve it awarded him. Still, he cast his eyes up and down the bank, looking for either of his partners, or anything worthy of noting that he could return to Gaucho.

Spice

Spice had watched him for some time now, her heart beating in her chest so loud at times that she thought he would hear it and look her way. But, he didn't. The boy was bound to the sky like her -if he ever did fly- though something red and fluffy clung to him, he seemed to be pretty used to her...or him. Whatever it was.

She watched from behind the ancient structure, green orbs wide in a kind of thoughtful manner she didn't think she had in her. Eyes following his every move. She wondered about him, his age, his name, and his bonded...? What was that furry thing?

Wayne jumped up when Spice took a rigid step forward, her legs feeling stiff from standing there and watching him for a while. The little bird jumped from her forelock, forward, towards the stallion. "Stop!" She shouted through the bond, but it was not use, because the finch had already tried flying in front of the red fluffy bear thing. "What are you doing Wayne?" She hissed from the shadows, stepping closer to him, out into the light where he could see her if he even heard her. He would have surly seen her bonded, and turned...

Wayne returned to her forelock, burrowing through to where she was hidden. "Yeah, thanks for nothing Wayne." She shot into the little bird's mind, hoping that she could hear. "Hello..erm, I'm Spice, of the Dragons Throat." She says with a small bow, though she was of no rank or high leading role there. Not even a small one.

By this time, she was edging closer, a small smile growing on her face as she scanned him over once again. A new equine was coming into her life, and she was ready, a positive look on her face.

"blah blah blah."
